Author Topic: A spiritual poem that I wrote....  (Read 4996 times)

here's a new poem that I wrote. tell me what u think.

What do you do when you fall down and scrape your knee?

Do you cry and feel upset?

Or wait for it to heal and get better?

When you lose a precious diamond ring,

Do you give up hope of finding it?

Or do you wait a while and look for something else until you suddenly find the ring?

When you fail a test,

Do you blame yourself for failing?

Or do you learn from your mistakes and believe that you will be successful the next time?

When you lose a loved one,

Do you mourn their death and wish for them to come back?

Or do you celebrate their life and everything that they did and pray that they are safe in Heaven?

When you are battling through the hardest moments of your life,

Do you feel alone and deserted everyone that you love?

Or do you believe that even in the worst moments of crisis, God is right there.....

Carrying you....

Easing your pain....

Restoring your faith...

Giving you hope....

And helping you to live another day?

There. and that's it.

Clay's Fiddlin' Poet

« Reply #4 on: July 25, 2004, 01:14:37 PM »

Summer Sunshine,

That poem was beautiful and very meaningful.  Today in a class at church, we were talking about the choices we make, especially when we are tempted or tested in life.  There's always two ways to look at something, and you expressed it so eloquently.

Thanks for sharing your poem with us.

Thank you guys. here's another:

Where does beauty reside?
Not in the magazines or catwalks,
That are filled with images of perfect blow-dried tresses,
Or perfect shiny curls,
Or perfect, smooth porcelain skin,
Or perfect, red shiny lips,
Or perfect thin waists,
Or perfect hourglass bodies,
Or perfect long legs.

Nor is it in that perfect figure-hugging dress,
Or those perfect stiletto heels,
Or those perfect silver pants,
Or that perfect, diamond-studded handbag,
Or that perfect pink lipgloss,
Or those perfect Oroton sunglasses.

True beauty lies underneath the phoney surface
Of makeup and glamour,
It lies in the heart of every individual.
It lies in the spirit and soul of every person who
Lives upon this earth.
It lies in the love that we have for each other,
For ourselves, for the world around us, and for God.

And the more love we feel and radiate,
The more beautiful we become.

And that's that.

Clay's Fiddlin' Poet

« Reply #7 on: July 25, 2004, 05:46:22 PM »

Summer Sunshine,

Again, a beautiful, thoughtful poem.  Did you see the movie,Shallow Hal, with Jack Black?  A spell is put on "Hal" and he can only see the inner beauty of people.  Some very beautiful people on the outside look ugly to him, and some rather plain people look beautiful to him.  Although a comedy, there was a lot of truth in this movie.

Your poem captures this same truth.

Thanks for sharing,

I am like an apple pie.
Hard and crusty on the outside,
Soft and mushy on the inside.
Appearing as hard, plain and boring and unmoving
At initial sight.
Any insult, sharp as a knife,
Can cut through me,
To reveal my soft, delicate interior.
Which is why I need my crust,
My iron shell,
My tough exterior,
To protect my soft interior from the world.
Those who just look at my crust
Without trying my filling,
Will never know the sweetness inside.

I will offer a taste
As an invitation,
To see beyond my hard crust.
If you look inside you will see,
That I am filled with many different flavours and ingredients,
A complex potpourri of emotions,
Thoughts and beliefs,
Very much unlike my plain, boring crust.
But that which is plain and boring on the outside,
Is usually quite the opposite on the inside.
This is where my mystery and intrigue lie.

Take a bite through my bland crust,
And experience all the flavours within.

Well I actually wrote it about myself, but you could attribute those things to Clay too. He may seem ordinary, but that's not what he is.

Freedom in the air,
as I embrace it in my arms.

Music in the water,
as I listen to its' song.

Passion in the fire,
as I let it fuel my desire.

Nurture and life in the earth,
as I listen to it tell me its' stories.

Bountiful love all around me,
as I am a child, born from the earth,
nurtured and protected by my Creator,
cherished by the sky, adored by the rain,
loved by the water, air, earth and fire,
and will be welcomed back into the earth
when my time comes.

Whaddaya think??
