Clay's Fiddlin' Poet

« Reply #20 on: April 18, 2004, 03:06:23 AM »

I guess I'm a poet,
And now you all know it.
I do love to rhyme.
It takes little time.

It will be so great
To get to create.
Thanks to Pam for this thread
Where we all can be read.

Now as I think back
On that magazine stack.
I have a confession.
There really were seven!! Wink:

Just a postscript to the above poem. There were actually only 3 or 4 magazines with a few things about Clay. I used "seven" because it rhymed. I did leave the magazines, minus Clay  , for others to read. My copay was $25 for the office visit, and my insurance actually paid 100%, so the doctor's office came out ahead $25.

 Laughing:  Laughing:  Laughing:  Wink:

Sounds perfectly logical to me! Loved the poem!

Who else but Clay could turn a mamogram into a pleasant experience? (And don't read more into that statement than was originally intended)!

CLAY'S #1 FRECKLE LOVER

A little rhyme for this Marvelous Monday---

From the spiky tips of your strawberry blond hair,
To the funky colored Puma tennis shoes that you wear,
You’re a man of distinction, of talent, and class,
No one compares to you Clay, don’t worry, you’ll last.

It’s hard to imagine our lives before you,
Because now that you’re here, we’ve all been renewed.
More of us have faith, hope and love in our Father above,
And more kindness and patience in those less thought of.

Should someday we meet, there’s so much I’d like to say,
But I’m sure in your presence, my mind would slip away.
One thing is for certain and so many feel it too,
You’re a phenomenon beyond words and we all love you!

Thank you Clay!

Wow, Prissy,

You are a fantastic poet.  I used to write poety too.  I won a contest once.
I am beginning to think a good portion of the Claymaniacs are professional poets and writers.  Well, they could be anyway!!  I wouldn't even dare try to write a poem after seeing some of the ones you write.
Some day.......maybe.  For now, I will enjoy yours.  I love all of your postings.  We have a fabulous group of writers.  I just love my Claymanic site.  It is always so interesting and intriguing.  It's been my home since last year!!  I will never stray.   Wink:

Clay's Fiddlin' Poet

« Reply #30 on: April 19, 2004, 02:50:13 PM »

Ils in CT (Linda)

I appreciate your kind words about my poems (and my posts),  and also those of Pamela, Her, Mrs.C, Houstonclayfan, and quynn.  :D

My poetry is really not a big deal and does not take much time at all. My poems just kind of  "pop out!" shock: I think I have this Ogden Nash/Dr. Seuss thing going on. Laughing:

Please do not say "you wouldn't even dare to write a poem."  I am looking forward to yours and everyone else's contribution to this post!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful poems of Clayzforhim, Mrs.C, and Her.

The written word is so powerful.  Just think, most of us know each other only through the written word.  We don't know the sound of each others voices; we don't know how each of us looks.  Our souls and personalities are revealed only through our written words. And the more I am on the Claymaniacs site, the better I am getting at recognizing the posts of different people without even seeing their names.

I feel like the Claymaniacs site is a gift, and I am most appreciative, especially to Clay who inspired it and to Pamela, our fearless well-informed leader, who is always the eloquent voice of humor and reason.

Here, here Prissy!!! I agree!

Also Prissy, thank you for the compliment on my poem.  I do wish more people would take a stab at writing because it's so enjoyable to see how/what people think.

Clay's Maine Squeeze

« Reply #36 on: April 20, 2004, 05:00:24 PM »

My Dearest Clay,
I am writing this letter to you, but I will never send this missive.  There are some things that I have been wanting to tell you.  I need to talk to you about your investments to date and your investments in the future. And, oh, I am too poor to be talking about monetary investments.

Webster's dictionary defines "invest"as:  1.granting someone control or authority over, 2. endowing with a quality, or 3. making use of for further benefits or advantages. "Investment" is defined as the sum invested.

When I first saw you perform on the early shows of American Idol, I invested my time rooting for you.  You were the underdog "geek" with the great Voice. You sparked my interest and made me smile.  I invested my time watching, cheering, and praying for you to continue. I invested my "heart" in your every performance.

Then, you continued week after week, and I became more vested in my interest, more taken with every performance, more drawn to you with each show. Now here was someone who I could become invested in as a "winner".  Wow!  Imagine me , an average nobody, recognizing a wonderful talent with potential for future investments in entertainment!!!

Now, all I had to do was sit back and watch my investment come to fruition. You would win American Idol, you would be making an album, and your future would be "secure",  Wow, an investment was about to pay off!! All of my investment was about to be rewarded. I could sit back and just watch my "nest egg" grow and didn't need to do anything but enjoy!

But, somehow, my stock in the "sure thing" was made into a "risky venture".  You didn't win American Idol and I was terrified!!  All that time, hope, and prayers invested were for naught!! Oh, no, what was going to happen to our "futures"!!! I thought all of my hopes and dreams were dashed, and all my plans for your future rewards were gone!!  And, if I was scared, what were you  thinking!! I cried for our "losses" and I worried for us both.

Then, I realized something about investing.  When you invest your heart and soul into a venture, you must "back" your investment.  So, I started doing what all of your wonderful, marvelous, invested fans started doing.  I started "backing" my investment.  I bought your CD's, I went to your concerts, I watched you on TV, I voted for you on TRL, and I cried as you won all those awards!!!

My investment runs deep now.  My investment is yours for now and always!!!!

Signed simply,
An INVESTED fan
