I'm so sorry for you both! That's gotta be so frustrating. I hope they can get Barry's pain resolved and send him home tomorrow. Huggles

Gwenn - I am so sorry about the latest news on Barry.  Do you think maybe they tried to get him up and in therapy too soon.  Maybe he needs a little longer to recover from the actual surgery and then the therapy would be easier.  Whatever the case, I sure hope you next report is more positive.

The very best wishes to both of you.

GWENN, I am so sorry you have this extra problem to deal with.  I'm just wondering....would Barry's insurance cover a few days in an in-house rehabiliation unit?  That would certainly take a huge load off of you.

Gwenn- I hope Barry feels a helluva lot better today-poor man! Just make sure you get rest yourself!

Busy at work today so I might not be able to stop in.

There is so much to save on this site-7 years of prolific members and Clay did so very much over the years. I sure hope that Michael can give us enough time to save. It really doesnt take up much space on my computer because its like a word doc.

Just VERY time consuming. I finished JNT 2004 this morning at 2:30 !!

HE'S KILLING ME!!!!!!

« Reply #605 on: March 19, 2010, 06:42:36 AM »

MORNING--

WELL, HE WAS PUT BACK ON IV PAIN MEDS AND HE SLEPT THE NIGHT.  I SLEPT FITFULLY.  I SPOKE TO HIS NURSE THIS MORNING AND THEY ARE HAVING A BIG MEETING ABOUT HIM AS WE SPEAK.  HIS DOCTOR ASSURED HIM THEY WILL WORK THIS OUT.  WHEN I SPOKE TO BARRY THIS MORNING, THEY HAD TAKEN THE IV MEDS AWAY AND ARE TRYING ANOTHER COCKTAIL OF MEDS.  PLEASE PRAY THAT THESE WORK.  THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE THAT THE SCIATIC NERVE IS SO SORE AND INFLAMED FROM ALL THE PRESSURE.  NOW THAT THE PRESSURE IS GONE, IT WILL TAKE TIME FOR THE NERVE TO HEAL.  THE KIND OF MEDS TO HELP INFLAMMATION CAN'T BE USED RIGHT NOW CAUSE THEY ALL CONTAIN BLOOD THINNERS WHICH CAN'T BE USED RIGHT AFTER SURGERY.  HE IS IN A CATCH 22 FIX.

WHEN YOU SEE STATISTICS ABOUT THINGS, THEY HAVE TO BE TAKEN WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.  90% OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS SURGERY GET IMMEDIATE RELIEF.  WELL, BARRY IS IN THE 10% BUT IF YOU ARE IN THAT 10%, IT IS 100% FOR YOU.  AT LEAST HE SLEPT.  I AM PRAYING THAT THE DAY GOES WELL FOR HIM.  I DID MY CRYING LAST NIGHT.  NOW I AM ANGRY AT THAT PHYSICAL THERAPIST.  SHE SUCKS AND CAUSED ALL THIS PAIN.  BELIEVE ME, I WILL FIND OUT WHO HER SUPERVISOR IS AND COMPLAIN BIG TIME.  YOU DON'T MESS WITH THOSE I LOVE.

GWENN, so very, very sorry about the pain Barry is in.  Bless his heart here he was waiting for this surgery for relief and now he is dealing with someone's stupid mistake.  I couldn't believe they were giving him PT that soon.  I am hoping they can keep Barry comfortable until he heals and hope the surgery is a success for him.

JoAnn-Awesome you are going to Reno. Have fun!!!

Wish we could turn back the clock to last Friday. I miss Clay already.

Gwenn-My prayers contunie with Barry and you too. Huggles

This is from Jan. She can't post over here at the moment. PLEASE LET GWENN KNOW THAT I AM PRAYING FOR HER POOR HUBBY WHO IS RECOVERING FROM SURGERY.

Sure hope either a CA date or a Las Vegas date comes up...

Okay...I'm in a speculating mood once again - hope this is another good distraction for you Gwenn...sending hugs and prayers

hee...and this one is fun...

I think there is more up with Clay than this special and CD...I think his excitement speaks to several things...and with info I gained from my Stephen Sondheim class...here's a possibility...

Sondheim has a new Broadway musical in the works...perhaps for this Fall...and his musicals are works of genius...IMHO...and require stellar vocals...pitch perfect...etc.  ...for the musically aware among us...the intervals/harmonies are quite unique...in addition to the rich, rapid lyrics...

All right...here's my thought...Sondheim likes to carefully select performers for his works...and he keeps such selections cloaked in secrecy....it is entirely possible that Clay made it for this...and if he did...that is a real triumph...no matter how successful this new one is...Sondheim is truly legendary...so...if I'm correct, you heard first from me...lol lol

        Gwenn,
I"m so sorry Barry has not got the relief you were hoping for.

Sometimes, I think the doctor"s push patients  a  little too fast,
and don't give them much recovery time.Ba rry has suffered pain for a very long
time and     maybe not be quite ready for pushing himself to hard.

Prayers for him to feel better and prayers for you too. It has been a tremendous
                              strain for you.

BARRY IS SO MUCH BETTER.  I JUST SPOKE TO HIM AND HE IS EATING AND DRINKING AND WALKING.  HE MAY COME HOME TOMORROW.  LOTS OF MEDS BUT I DON'T CARE.  I SAW HIM TODAY AND I ALMOST CRIED HE WAS SO MUCH BETTER.

NOW I CAN THINK ABOUT NYC ON AUG. 11.  I AM SO THERE.  TOLD MARION TO PUT IT ON HER CALENDAR.

ATLANTIC CITY?  COME ON.  WE NEED THAT ALSO.

AGAIN--THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD WISHES.

So glad to hear that Barry is feeling better.  As I've said many times in the past....God Bless Pharmaceuticals!!!  bigsmile

NYC and Atlantic City certainly sounds "doable" to me.  Keeping my fingers crossed that circumstances will allow for a nice gathering there in August!!!!
