Good Morning everyone   Huggles Huggles

Had to stop in to see how our Shirley and Kim's granny were doing.

Mary - I was hoping to get together with you before your surgery, we'll have to make it after you recover.  Darn weather!    At least it is going to be getting a bit warmer this week.
I just see that Brenda asked you to have someone keep us informed.  Yes!  please

Sharon - Looking forward to the game.  Both teams will medal, so it should be good!   Clapping

Brenda - Sorry there is no work.  You would think with all of our own medical problems here, there should be more than enough to go around.     blush

Becky - Glad everything worked out so you could show off your new condo.  Now lets keep our fingers crossed that the weather holds good so you can move everything in.

Marilyn - Glad you arrived home safe and sound and even had decent weather.   Clapping

I look last night, it did take me a bit.  I couldn't find our flag (with the right amount of stars) that wasn't waving though.  Figured this was OK though.

PEGGY , are you being good and not shoveling snow.  How are you feeling?  When  do you go back to the doctors?

MARY,  you are sure in our thoughts.  Talked to SHARON this morning and was reminded of your surgery.  I knew it was March 2nd but for some reason I never thought that was this week.  I can't believe that March is here already, heck thought we had another week of feb. at least.   Yep you are like most women.  Before major surgery think to get meals ready and the laundry done and a nice fresh bed to come home to, can you imagine a man thinking like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   lmao

BRENDA, yep you are right about attitude adjustment but sometimes it is hard when you wake up everyday to some new pain to add to what you already have.  My DIL came over and brought Preston for a while she brought me a couple of word game puzzles and a lap robe and a darling card.  Than Mark called to let  us know how his plane ride was to Arizona.  Very turbulent as they had storms going into Pheonix.  It is still raining there today.  Got choked up a little while talking to him this morning, in fact I got choked up a lot today starting this morning with SHARON.

SHARON, would  you drop some of those ribs and cabbage off on your way home!!  What a great daughter you are and company for your mom.  So happy your sister got a way for a mini vacation.

Missing you Barb I could use one of your special hugs today.

Clapping Clapping Clapping   Good job, Peggy.

Shirley, we will not be selling the cottage. Jim will never do that. We will be six months north and six months south.

Peggy, we won't be doing any moving until/if Dad either gets stronger or goes to a nursing home. We bought the place just days before we found out what kind of shape he was in.

Brenda, yup it's closer to you. Can't afford Sharon as a decorator, tho. Remember what she spent helping her friend?  faint  Any decorating in this place will be Design on a Dime. Hope you get some work soon.

Just got a call from Jim. Our furnace quit while he was down here. Sunday calls are not cheap.

Got to go. Everyone have a nice Sunday.

Mary, you're going to have yourself so worn out you won't need any anesthesia. Praying and crossing fingers for a good outcome on Tuesday.  Huggles

Shirley - I'm not doing any heavy shoveling.  I was only doing the edges and the porch area.  The snowblower doesn't get them very good.  Promise!  I just didn't want the snow tracked into the house.
I don't go back to the doctor until the end of April.

Becky -   You sure have your hands full.

Becky, my friend, you sure have had your hands full this year. I am hoping that things do a turn around and you get some good luck for a change. A big fat hug for you Big Hug!
Brenda, I will have someone call, I promise but it will be probably after 4 or even later. Would you believe I do not have to be at the hospital until 1:15. They always ask that you be there 2 hours before so that means my surgery won't be till after 3 The doctor said it is a 2 1/2 3 hour surgery. The doctor also said that 70% of the people that have this done get some relief. If I have half the pain after the 3 surgeries I will be a very happy camper. This pain is completely taking over my life now. Shirley, I know how you feel, believe me. The only reason I do what I do is because I just don't know how to NOT do it.
Kim, they are probably worried about giving your granny too much morphine. Morphine slows down your respiration and if they give her too much it might stop it. We had the same problem when my aunt was in Hospice. We upped her morphine anyway, it is not like we were going to be less sad if she passed tonight or tomorrow morning. What time it happens didn't matter to us, keeping her comfortable was. The look on her face changed completely when we upped the dose, she even looked at peace for once. Of course, hers was a very long, long illness. What I am trying to say is, make sure the doctors know that your first concern is her and her comfort level.
Mare, glad you had a nice trip down south. I am so ready to go somewhere where there is ocean and warm weather. I am getting 1/2 of that soon, the warm weather I will have to wait a bit for.
I am going to go download some pictures of Chase to post here. Be back in a bit.

A "Perfect Day" is every day I listen to Clay!!

« Reply #1650 on: February 28, 2010, 04:04:04 PM »

I like that picture of Clay, Meesa!! Yes!  Never saw it before.

Shirley  Huggles  I know how you feel.  Same feeling I'd have when I'd come home from Florida for a visit with my folks, then have to leave them.  I loved Florida, but it was way too far from my folks!  When my marriage ended, it was easy to decide whether to stay in Florida or go back home. Huggles  So glad Mark made it home safely!  I hate when there is turbulence.

Speaking of turbulence, did you guys hear that Elliot Yamin was in Chile when the earthquake hit?  He thought his life was over.  Luckily, he's safe.

Kim, is that GORGEOUS creature, Dr. Ball still around?? Laughing lmao
So sorry to hear about Granny. sad  I know how close you all are.  Huggles  I hope they can keep her out of pain. Huggles

Becky, bad timing on the furnace problems!  Sure hope you don't have to buy a new one, so soon after closing on the condo!!
How wonderful it will be, having a cottage on a lake in the summer to enjoy, and a condo in a warmer (?  Paranoid) part of Michigan for winter!! Clapping  Well, with a condo you won't have to shovel snow!  Does your condo have a garage?  Hope so, that would really help in those snowy months!

Sharon, thank you for being you.  Huggles We are so blessed as a group to have you.  I wonder if there could be anyone more caring, considerate and kind as you???  Huggles Thank you for calling our Shirley when she needed some support.

Can't afford Sharon as a decorator, tho. Remember what she spent helping her friend?  faint  Any decorating in this place will be Design on a Dime.
Laughing   lmao

Peggy, did you post a picture of that 1500 piece puzzle yet?  Hope I didn't miss it!  We keep all the puzzles that we enjoyed working.  I recently got rid of some 75 and 100 piece puzzles mainly kept for sentimental reasons; memories of working them with the boys when they were young. Wink

Dave and I actually had a date last night!!  We went to dinner and a live show.  The band does mostly Appalachian style music; bluegrass stuff.  But they also do some old rock songs with a banjo thrown in.  One of the songs was "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple! Paranoid Clapping  'Twas lots of fun!  One of the band members is an old friend of ours; he's a dentist, lives here in town.  If you go to the website, he's the one with the full head of dark hair!  Laughing  He is an amazing banjo player and fiddler!  Go here to see:

Wow, what a game! Not the outcome I wanted but if it couldn't be the USA then I am glad it was Canada!  Congrats, Sharon. Have a glass of the bubbly! (Our guys looked so unhappy, especially the goalie. I felt bad for them. I thought they played an incredible game - no pushovers, our guys.)

Becky, hope the furnace is something easy and cheap to fix. At least it's supposed to be a lot warmer next week - up to the mid 40s by next weekend - wow.

Oh, yes, Caity got her role for the play; they are doing Rapunzel and she is, of course, Rapunzel. She's happy. Julie just told me they are going skiing and snowboarding next weekend for Emily's birthday and we will have her party the 13th - she will be a teenager OMG - that is incredible to me!

On the Bachelor tomorrow they will be announcing the new DWTS contestants - Melissa Rycroft will be doing the announcements. I think she would be a good replacement for Samantha Harris - hope this means she got the job. Jason and his (forgot her name already) fiance are getting married on TV - I think this week. I think Melissa really won that one. Evan Lysacek wants to be a contestant, he said - probably not this year though.

Off to get something to eat and I guess settle into an evening of TV since there is no work. I am going to really miss the Olympics. Don't really like the opening and closing ceremonies that much though.

I'm off - have a great evening.

What was the final score in the hockey game, Brenda?   At least we beat them once, that has to be somewhat of a consolation.  Congrats, Sharon!
Also congrats  to Caity for landing the plum role of Rapunzel!  Will she be wearing a wig then?? Laughing

Filling Every Empty Space With Clay

« Reply #1658 on: February 28, 2010, 04:41:16 PM »

wave wave    I hope each of you will grab a hug from me!  Huggles Huggles Huggles

Sorry I've been absent lately.  I just kept running out of time and energy.  I didn't realize the physical and emotional toll that Mom's final illness and her passing had on me.  My two brothers left for Florida the day after the funeral to continue their "winter vacation" plans.  My sister and I ended up cleaning out Mom's room at the Assistive Living Home and to take care of the acknowledgement cards, etc. Trips to Goodwill, etc.  Mom didn't own any property, but she did have a will and a couple of stocks, etc.  I am the executor of her estate.  It doesn't have to go to Probate Court, because it is a very small estate.  HOWEVER, loads of paperwork.  Many forms to fill out . . . . ugh!  I still work 3 days a week . . .  but that is OK . . .  My job brought normalcy back to my world.  ANYHOW . . . Every day, I stopped here and so I know what each of you have been up to!  blush

Loved the Olympics.  Wanted USA to win the hockey game . . . BUT it seemed just right that Canada won!  Clapping   They were marvelous hosts of these winter Olympics!

SHIRLEY - So glad your son spent those wonderful days with you.  Hope he is able to return in the near future!  Huggles

BECKY - Glad you closed on your condo.  Hope your Dad gets stronger!  Hang tight!  Huggles

KIMMIE - Hugs to you, Betty and your lil Granny!  Huggles Huggles

PEGGY - Been loving your posts.  Loved the finished picture of the BIG puzzle . . and your "rainbow" words in some of your posts! Huggles

BISI - Hoping and praying that your medicine will get your lungs in good enough shape for your surgery! Huggles

EVELYN -  Do you and Matt advertise your "catering" business??  Your reputation must be fantastic.  Boy - You two sure carried off a big successful one!  Clapping

CINDY - Good for you regarding quitting smoking!  I had my last cigarette on May 6, 1992.  It was HELL!  The nicotine patch had just become available . . . and I used it.  Hope you can hang on!  You will be so glad you did.  OHHHHH . . . I so wanted to go to Clay's concert being taped for PBS in Raliegh.  I just could not justify the plane ticket for one concert . . .  I would have loved to see you.  ENJOY THE BOY!

MARILYN - Was today "grandkid's day" in your world??  Don't they grow fast??  Those two little ones sure love you guys!  Huggles

SHARON -  Take a bow for Canada!  Loved spending the past two weeks there via my trusty TV.  The Canadian people seem so warm and friendly . . . and it was the perfect place to hold the Winter Olympics! Clapping Clapping

KAREN - You certainly have to be a detective to figure out how to cook for Justin, avoiding so many ingredients! icon_rolleyes  I loved the links you provided for some of the past skating stars.

BETH - I laughed out loud when you mentioned Kurt Browning's hair . . . and your Dave's also.  Smile  Is Diana still interested in figure skating??

MARY - Loved all the positive news about Chase.  Is your neck surgery scheduled for Tuesday?   Prayers on the way! Huggles

MEESA - Throw us a crumb . . .  we need to hear a little news of your upcoming wedding!  SO SOON!  Huggles

OK - Who did I miss???   hypnotic    Have we heard from CAROLYN or DOODS lately?? nixweiss

BTW - Whew . . .  IDOL isn't showing me much so far.  Some really "average" singers.  Fingers crossed that a few of them (besides the eye candy) start sounding a whole lot better!

OK . . .  now I've given you all a novel!  bigsmile

And I'll be back!  blush
