Whenever I hear Where I Draw The Line, I get very verklempt!
Me too! It's my favorite song. But still don't understand why some critics think this as a country song.
Where I Draw the Line
was written by a country singer and when he sings it on his Myspace page it has a very "country" feel. There's one other song on the CD that was written by a country songwriter too, but I can't remember which right now.
I believe it's As long as we're here".

What determines when a single can be released of a new album? and does the artist request it or is that up to RCA?

Yes, you're right Philly. That's the one. Clay doesn't sing it country, but the lyrics are very country-ish IMO.

"As long as we're here." To me, is very inspirational and universal in it's message of love and don't wait tomorrow when you can love now!

I'll be the first to admit that I don't understand the music business -- but why are they just sending it out

Yeah, I thought they were supposed to send those out BEFORE the CD was released. Gavin DeGraw's single was being played a full month before the CD was released.

Cindy, I don't hear angst, I hear anger. Am I wrong?
Fran... IMO the angst and anger (if you will) is intermingled on Everything I Don't Need. But not just 'one' emotion shines through. For me, the entire song feels real and raw. It's Clay unleashed and he draws me in. I can't really explain it, but I think he's sharing a true part of himself. More than all the rest. JMO.

Yes, on that blog he did ask for us to request On My Way Here. I think the record company only sends out the single. But I could be wrong.

Maybe he needs
On My Way Here
to do well or they won't release any more singles.
I called my little Waukegan station to request it and they said "I'll see what I can do for you later this afternoon. I don't know if they ever played it.

I agree, Cindy. That's probably why I love it so much--that, and the fact that it has such a catchy beat and great instrumentation.
