Jeanne, I don't want this thread to end up on page 2, as it is just too important for Claymaniacs to have a forum on which they can display their artistic talents.  Wow!  What a talented group we have!  Clapping

Your "Sunhat" series will always  be my favorite, Jeanne.  But I always wonder who the "mystery woman" is in the paintings???   scratch

BTW, happy birthday, Jeanne!!!

Thanks Thea

I appreciate your post.
Yes. wish more people would stop by but there are sooooo many threads that it is hard to catch up with them all.

I have been MIA, not feeling too much like posting but lurking.

Picture above is a model for a Sunhat painting. I save sunhats and pretty scarves for them. This is just an example of the many hats and scarves that I have.

Next picture will be the beginning of a new Sunhat painting. I need the funny model so I can properly place a hat and see how it fits the head.

The beginning.

As you see the "mystery ladies" are usually what I have in my head. They just seem to grow out of my paintbrush. Teaching life drawing for almost all my life, I can easily draw a person. NOW, the sunhats and scarves are another  problem . I need them.

PS. If you are reading this, Have a wonderful vacation in St. Kitt

J.M

I HAVE A SUNHAT SERIES AND A DOLL SERIES.
METHINKS YOU HAVE A "CLAY" SERIES

I WAS NEVER HAPPY WITH MY CLAY ART WORK. I NEVER DID REALLY CAPTURE THE REAL CLAY.
FREEHAND DRAWING IS THE PROBLEM. THAT IS WHY I NEVER DID A GOOD DRAWING OF HIM.
NOW IF HE COULD POSE FOR ME, IN PERSON,THEN I COULD DO ONE I LIKE.

YOUR SHADING IS PERFECT.

YOU SHOULD GET HIS AUTOGRAPH FOR YOUR SELF. SOMEONE ELSE WILL BENIFIT FROM THE SIGNATURE NOW. MAYBE HE WILL SIGN SOMETHING FOR YOU. YOU DESERVE IT.

If he actually posed for me in person...I couldn't get a thing drawn! I'd probably sit & stare at him and grin and giggle and drool and stuff.    ROFLMAO

Thanks Goodnight moon

Some people are born with talent and a lot acquire it through taking classes.
But I think dedication is the most important part .

Fantastic work as always, Ms. Kim, Ms. Jan.

Kim, we're all ditzzy some times. Laughing I love your Clay drawing there. Thud! All my realism still looks the slightest bit cartoony. Laughing

Jan, I love your sunhat series. Clapping And the doll is so very spiffy. Smile

While I'm here, a doodle photoshoped a couple different ways. Smile

*click*

I finally got to see Sweeney Todd, Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and just had to doodle him in my own style. Was great fun to do. Had to take a picture of it, since I don't have a scanner at the moment. sad But, I think it looks okay. Smile
Was originally done in blue ball point pen, but thought black would be better. Smile

Hope you like.

Love and hugs Huggles

PRISSY

TALENT IS IN MANY GUISES
FOR INSTANCE, WHEN I SEE YOUR LOVELY HOME AND HOW YOU  DECORATE FOR EVERY SEASON, I JUST AM FLABBERGASTED (IS THAT A WORD?)  I COULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS DO WHAT YOU DO. I THINK WE ALL HAVE A TALENT, IT JUST COMES IN MANY FORMS; MUSIC, WRITING, DECORATING, NEEDLEWORK, ETC.

BUT THANKS FOR THE NICE WORDS.

AND J.M

YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DRAW FROM YOUR "HEAD" AS YOU CALL IT, BUT YOUR SHADING IS FANTASTIC IN YOUR REALITY DRAWINGS. AND YOU AND LINDA HUBER HAVE THE SAME STYLE, BOTH REALISTIC WITH GREAT RENDERING OF LIGHTS AND DARKS.

THEA

AND I AM SOOOOOO GLAD THAT THIS THREAD IS A "STICKY" THREAD NOW. IT JUST SHOWS HOW TALENTED OUR CLAYMANIACS ARE. AND THERE ARE A LOT OF YOU WHO ARE HIDING YOUR LIGHT UNDER A BUSHEL.

LUV
JAN

tHIS IS THE FINISHED SUNHAT FROM THE ONE ON THE TOP OF THIS PAGE. JUST FINISHED. IT HAS TO BE GLAZED WITH COLOR NEXT. BUT IT WILL BE THE SAME ALMOST.

I can't do anything freehand, but I like to do cross stitch.  I made this for my husband when we were dating.  He's Irish.

FRANNIE

WOW, SEE WHAT I MEAN????? I COULD NEVER IN A HUNDRED YEARS DO WHAT YOU DO. THE NEEDLEWORK IS FANTASTIC. I LOVE IT.
WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE IF YOU HAVE THEM.

CARLA

NEAT DRAWINGS OF JOHNNY DEPP FROM SWEENEY TODD. I NEVER DID ANYTHING ON MY COMPUTER. LOTS OF MY ART FRIENDS USE THEIR COMPUTER A LOT, FROM PLANNING TO COMPOSITION, ETC. IT IS HARD ENOUGH FOR ME JUST TO USE THE PHOTOBUCKET, SO GIVE ME AN F FOR COMPUTER ART.

LOVE TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING, YOU ARE A VERY TALENTED CLAYMANIAC.

J.M

HOW DO YOU START YOUR DRAWINGS????? LOVE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BEGINNINGS.
AS YOU CAN SEE, M INE ARE POSTED. I SKETCH LOOSELY FIRST , THEN THROW ON A LITTLE PAINT SO I CAN TELL WHAT COLORS I WANT AND THEN MY HAND JUST GOES TO WORK. I AM IN ANOTHER WORLD WHEN THAT HAPPENS.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW????? MAYBE THE COVER OF THE CD???

WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE MY LATEST "DOLL" PAINTING. MY SON TOOK ONE LOOK AT IT AND SAID "MOM, YOU ARE SICK"

TALK TO YOU LATER.

WAITING FOR MORE OF OUR TALENTED MEMBERS; LIKE PRISSY AND FRANKIE OUR TIP TOP DECORATORS.

Frannie.... Clapping Clapping
That's cool! I couldn't do that. I'd lose a finger. Or two. Paranoid

Jan....
I did just finish the CD cover...surprise surprise? lmao

I just start em by sizing them and getting an outline. Then I transfer the rough outline to the drawing paper by coloring the back of my sketch paper with pencil, flipping it, and tracing.

Here's just the face finished on the cd cover...

You can see the outline...just giving me a starting/stopping point.
then starting hair...

I use a black marker to get around his face & hair...then come in with black acrylic paint

and then....he be finished! Laughing
