Meesa, thanks so much for doing this for us tonight.

Ladies - I had a great time.  Enjoyed it and I'll see you tomorrow night.

Since this is over early, I think I'll go address some Christmas cards.

Everyone have  great     Clay dreaming     and a great day tomorrow.

We just had the nicest conversation in the elevator and on the way to breakfast with Jerome. What a nice man! We offered to buy him breakfast but he was going to eat at the buffet because he was in a hurry. So we chose to eat elsewhere. He gave us some hints about video taking.

He looks really good. Said he lost 30 pounds but by the time the Christmas tour was over, he will probably have gained it back.

We offered to walk Clay's dogs but he just lauged. Well, we were just trying to help. Dee is a riot. She says she is shy but I'm the one who couldn't get a question out. I love Jerome. He asked us questions and seemed to enjoy talking to us.

A surprise is on the way....don't worry no personal pics.

Thanks Meesa!

Clay has four shows in a row this week, before having just one night off.  Tough schedule!  I hope he is really feeling better.  Vitamins, sleep, chicken soup.  Oy!

Meesa, feel free to start the thread tomorrow night.  Or, if Meesa is busy, anyone can jump right on in there OK?  Your fellow maniacs will appreciate it!

Now I'm on my way!

« Reply #187 on: December 04, 2006, 07:52:06 PM »

Hey gang! Sorry I missed it but I read back and caught up. Sounds like he was chatty and funny again. I can't wait to see the clack from these concerts. I haven't even seen "All is Well" in Merriville yet.  Cry!

I am glad that he is hitting the notes. I was worried when the concert started but I knew that once he got going, he would be ok. He just needs to pace himself and have fun (which it seems like he is).

I'll try to be here tomorrow. Thanks to Meesa and Marilyn for bringing the cellcert over.  Smile

Verona Review

Aiken interacts with audience during strong holiday show
By: Heather Mayer
Issue date: 12/5/06 Section: Feature

The scene couldn't have been more fitting just weeks before Christmas. The snow settled lightly on the grass in front of Turning Stone Casino and Resort, reflecting the decorative Christmas lights. Inside, the event showroom was a full house. People of all ages sat at assigned tables looking out onto the stage patiently awaiting the featured guest, "American Idol's" Clay Aiken.

String instruments played quietly as part of the Utica Symphony Orchestra's warm-up before Aiken's arrival. Unlike a traditional pop star concert, families sat together and sipped Diet Coke and coffee in the elegant theater.

The poor setup of the tables, which packed people tightly together, made it difficult to hear the strings and flutes over side conversations. The orchestra continued with a combination of "Good King Wenceslas" and "Dreidel, Dreidel," a nice touch to celebrate Hanukkah.

Once the last notes of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" played, audience members stood up and began screaming and applauding Aiken as he entered the stage. Aiken's orange collared shirt seemed more like Syracuse University spirit than Christmas spirit, but the girls and women in the front row cooed at him nonetheless.

Aiken performed a long list of Christmas songs, including "Noel," "Walking in a Winter Wonderland," "Merry Christmas with Love," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Grownup Christmas List." In between songs, Aiken interacted with the front-row fans and the loud, outspoken fans sitting in the back.

After being told his zipper was down by one fan, he transitioned from pop singer to comedian, making the audience laugh about his recent encounter with Kelly Ripa on the "Regis and Kelly Show." Aiken poked fun at himself and how he offended Ripa by placing his hand over her mouth during the show.

"Don't put your hand over someone's mouth," Aiken said. "It's very rude."

Aiken was extremely interactive with his audience members, sending them into fits of laughter, cheering and applause. He made the night for one young fan, Erin Squairs, 15, of Liverpool. The singer asked the audience what a "fermata" (a held note) was, and called forth Squairs, a veteran pianist, to play a fermata on stage. Squairs, a diehard fan, couldn't believe her eyes or ears.

"I thought, how is he talking to me?" she said.

The dialogue with the audience seems to be what makes Aiken's fans come back for his shows. The show ended with an encore of "All is Well," sending the crowd to another standing ovation for Aiken. This Christmas show is part of Aiken's third annual tour, and he uses it to help promote charities events including UNICEF, in which he is actively involved.

Aside from one perturbed male audience member who expressed his opinion that Aiken should pay attention to people in the back row, the crowd loved Aiken's performance in conjunction with the Utica Symphony. Squairs gave Aiken "two thumbs up."

From the CB:

Quote
Mammat53 at the CB was the one whole told Clay that his pants were unzipped:

My seat last night at TS was all but on the stage(literally) . I could actually rest my arm on the stage. There he was inches from me..I could not help but notice that the pants of perfection were not fully zipped,a slight gapage,..Thoughts of what to do or say.. write a note..give it to him..or wait and see I knew the next song was going to be one involving setting on the stool I thought for sure the zipper would continue it's journey downward..
So I ever so subtly tapped on the boot to try to get his attention. He had just begun his convo with the couple next to me. The seating arrangement placed me closer than them(it was table seating perpendicular to the stage)..he stopped and looked at me..What are you interupting me for? I mouthed"your pants are unzipped"..he then continued to ask me why I had interupted him (all the time snarking at me) Asked me what was so important..I said "I need to tell you something" Clay: "Well what???" Me:Quietly.."your pants are unzipped"

Proceeding from there..he started laughing...then told me and everyone else that they would not zip any further because he had put on weight.By then he had called me by name several times and turned it into a whole conversation.

He said maybe he should button his coat back up..then the crotch convo insued and knowing where my eyes were(I replied" Busted" ..All this time he is directly looking at me..he was laughing very hard..proceeding to the next song..he hopped on the stool and wrapped his legs and zipper area with his jacket(jokingly). Of course the 1st line of the next song was "chestnuts roasting on an open fire".. which started him laughing, as he tried to sing..he looked at me gave me a and a wink.I gave him the in response. All this time he was still inches from me..and making eye contact and trying very hard to not laugh..we had our moment

Am I the 1st fan to have touched a boot with the foot still in it?
Latter on in the concert he asked if anyone has binoculars..he said they didn't need them because I was taking full notice.
