Had my iPod on yesterday while shoveling, had a real mix of songs, and Clay's song "The Real Me" came on.  I forgot how beautifully he sings that song.  OMG!  :thud I think headphones make a huge difference, too.

Yep Karen, pain in the butt.  I think they will probably do new sewers and all new water mains around us in the Spring, they started way up the street last year.

Well bathroom here I come, got a few buckets of water before they shut it off, I'll just have to heat it in the microwave a bowl at a time :lol

Anyway, I was watching one of the home buyer shows on HG-TV the other day, and a guy was looking for a condo.  The realtor in that show was Reid Rosenthal, the guy who came in #3 with Jillian!  Seems the guy shopping and Reid are friends so he chose him to be his realtor.  I thought it was in Milwaukee but I just looked up Reid's bio from the show and I guess it was Philadelphia.  Anyway, THAT was FUN!   :clap I always did like Reid!

Good Morning Ladies, well since SHARON has a lot of bathroom scrubbing I will start on fixing a big lunch!!!  I think we will have bacon and lettuce/tomato sandwiches on toasted bread, a nice bowl of potato/corn chowder and brownies and chocolate chip cookies.  So bring  your appetites around 1:00 pm.  The sun is out although it is very cold at 10 degrees but it is wonderful to see the sunshine haven't seen it in almost a week.  Stay warm and bundle up when you head to my house!

Shirley,  that potato corn chowder sounds perfect for this cold, snowy day!  And I love a BLT!

We've had about an inch more overnight, and it's coming down right now but very fine and beautiful!!  I actually love snow in the winter; it's just the roads I worry about, and my family being on them!

Well, my Mikey will be moving out, he's decided to move into an apartment very close to the hospital where he works.  It's time; he just got a nice raise!  Plus he'll have a roommate, perfect situation, the guy goes home to Kentucky over the weekends (works here all week), so Michael will have the place to himself on weekends.

Getting ready to head to Bowling Green for Em's swim meet.  Hope it's not too awfully cold out there because I have a feeling there will be walking involved.  College campuses are the WORST for parking situations.

Kim, Justin has been driving since 9/08, so a little over a year.  We bought my Mom & Dad's 1998 Park Avenue from them, and he drives that.  At first he didn't like it cuz his friends call it a Grandma & Grandpa car  :lol, plus it's kinda big.  But he's used to it now, and it drives like a dream!  I like to drive it, too.  We now have around 44,000 miles on it.  :roflmao

Wanted to check in before I get out of here. Big swim weekend for Emily in Bowling Green - two days, at least five events plus relays each day. Hate to leave Cristien but he would rather play video games anyway. He's already addicted. Has a PS3 and a Wi - wow. Marilyn and Craig are coming down today to watch Em, will meet them there.

Kim, I think probably Sudafed would be a good choice. Hope she feels better.  I'm with you - what is AF?

Shar, what rotten luck - I absolutely hate when we lose water (or any of the utilities). Hope they get it fixed soon - frozen lines causing the breaks?

Well, got some good news yesterday afternoon. My GI doc called; the biopsy came back negative but it is PREcancerous - doesn't matter as it is coming out anyway.

Gotta hit the showers and get myself ready. Gotta be at Julie's house before 11:30 as I am going to ride with them. Wonder if I need to wear boots = dang. Yep, Karen, snow is pretty but it is inconvenient and messy. Hate boots and coats.

Kim, I wish we could sell you Michael's 1996 Toyota Camry XLT for Joey.  It has a lot of miles on it (168,000) but we put over $3600 into it over the last year, including new tires, updating it. It runs great.  Now we are trying to sell for $1800 but would take less ($1200??) due to the leather in the front seats is looking kinda bad and some things don't match, like the outside mirror which got broken off and replaced with a black one from a salvage yard to save $$. Car is dark green.  Dave drove it home from the dealership where Michael got his newer car, and said it drives great, and if we had room, would keep it for a spare car.  I am sentimental about it; both older boys drove that car when in high school, and Michael drove it back and forth to Athens for 4 years.

Karen...this car isn't really that bad...it drives real smooth. the problem is that Joey reeeally put the miles on it...drivin Jamie to school everyday (not anymore though!), weekend trips to Tampa...and a couple of Orlando trips too. :bduh

And then I guess lotsa folks are havin battery issues with this weather.

Problem now is his DAD is too "busy" (being an idiot takes alot of time?) to help him get a new battery. :bang

See now Joey LIKES the big boat cars...he'd LOVE the big granny one Justin's drivin! Plus...Joey is so BIG...he can't sit too comfy in a little coupe car.....he's squished! :lol

Hi girls - Well, I'm back home and had a wonderful time. First of all, I went over to Debbie's the night before because we were expecting snow the next day. Anyway, as we are talking we thought, why not stay over in Pgh. after the show and come back on Saturday when the weather was supposed to be better. So - Debbie said : 'let's try priceline for a hotel in downtown Pgh. Guess what - we got a room at the Omni West Penn for only $75.00 a night. It books for $175.00 a night. We were thrilled and it was only about 6 blocks from the theater.

Debbie eats healthy so on top of having a wonderful time, I lost 1 1/2 lbs!!!! The room was beyond gorgeous - huge - and the beds were wonderful. The show was so hilarious, I had tears running down my face. I didn't stop laughing. If anyone wants to see a great show, go to see this one. We had a great time and I enjoyed every minute of it. She even had me walking six blocks in 15 degree weather both to the theater and back. We didn't walk fast, but in that weather I walked faster than I usually do. :lol :lol :lol  Maybe that's how I lost a 1 1/2 pounds.

I would see it again because it was so hilarious. 

Anyway, we had a couple of really nice days and although I'm glad to be home, I totally enjoyed myself.  We need to do it more often.

Well, I just kept on cleaning yesterday, luckily our water came back on late yesterday afternoon, I was running out of water in containers that I'd saved before the water main break caused the shutoff. I had also been smart enought to have some in the coffee perc so I had coffee all day while I cleaned :coffee
Keurig is ready to brew, I'm going for Gloria Jean's butter pecan.  I have a peanut butter crave going on so made a peanut butter/banana/walnut loaf this morning, and a cranberry/date/pecan as well, whipped butter on the counter :yum

EVELYN, I am so happy you had a wonderful time.  To bad the hotel didn't have a courtesy van to drive you back and forth to the theater though kind of a long walk when it is that cold for you.  When you mentioned the beds at the hotel, it brought back memories to me when you bought that new mattress that you kept falling off cause it was so high!!!!!!  :lol  I have so many memories of the early days of Claymaniacs sometimes I think some one should write a book. 

SHARON, glad you had a good day of cleaning, sometimes it feels good just to stay in and clean.  I miss it if you can believe that one.  You are lucky to see your sis so much.  Her husband must be very understanding I don't think mine would be, maybe once a week but that would be it.

Sharon, I am loving the plum color!  I think I used to use a similar color awhile ago, I'm a purple girl too!!  Yep that smiley sure reminds me of our Shirley!

Morning ladies,

Finished getting ready to go to the second day of Em's swim meet and had enough time left to drop in for a minute or two. She did great yesterday, shaved 30 seconds off a couple of her times and stayed in place in a couple others, but she swam six events and was really pooped. Has another six today. I think Marilyn and Craig enjoyed themselves - at least I hope so. It was a long trip for them and it was really sweet of them to come and they didn't even get to see Emily after she swam since they left right away. She said she came up looking for us but we were gone - awww, felt really badly. They dropped me off so I wouldn't have to wait for Julie who was working the entire day and had another couple of hours to go.

Thanks for breakfast, Sharon. So glad the Keurig was all ready - sure needed it today. Confess I am tired - but, here I go again (and loving it).

Glad your water is back, Sharon (it is, isn't it?). Don't know how much you depend on it untill it's gone.

Karen, I love purple too - my favorite color for sure.

Love that hairdo, Marilyn - maybe you should try it since you usually hate the way your hair ends up after you go to the salon. Would certainly be attention-getting. Think Hillary's do is fun but I don't know how they get it to stay that way - must be stiff as a board to hold. Just saw her last night in Karate Kid 4.

Karen - You are right. With priceline you have to accept what they give you. But, in our case, Debbie (my daughter) asked for downtown Pgh. hotels (knowing there are only 4 and all 4 are excellent hotels). We lucked out that we got the best and most expensive of all of them. But we wouldn't have been disappointed in any of them.  I would never use priceline if I didn't know what I would be getting.

Also, you are right - it is menopause, the musical. It may have a different name in Canada, but this is the name that is in the USA.

I got a hotel on Priceline recently - when I went to visit my sister in Ohio.  We chose our hotel and got a cheaper rate than we would have gotten any other way.  You don't have to go the bidding route.  Our hotel was great and we only paid 69 bucks total.

Nope, not the same show. But, Menopositive sounds hysterical. Got to watch for that one, now. If it came to the Detroit area this summer, that would be fun for all of us who could make it.

So, Evelyn, which one did you see?

SHARON the French toast is wonderful!!  It is cloudy, cold and snow flurries.  The road has fresh snow on it and the salt/plow truck just went by. 

I am going to have a easy supper today.  While I was at the store yesterday I bought a nice fresh loaf of rye bread they had made.  Also bought some good fresh corn beef and had them slice it thin, baby swiss cheese, saurerkraut and a jar of Thousand island dressing.  Yep I am going to make Ruebens for supper.  I only make them about once or twice a year.  The store I went to has the best bakery and makes the most wonderful bread.  I will assemble the sandwiches and butter the bread and grill them until nice and brown and crispy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

I was on pins and needles watching the football game last night.  It drove me nuts but finally the team I wanted to win did, the Cardinals.  I am a Kurt Warner fan from way back and I remember how the previous teams he was with treated him.  I guess Kurt has the last laugh on them.  I just hope that he gets paid what he deserves as he is to easy going and almost to much of a nice guy.

Good morning, all you early risers...

Getting myself moving and ready for PT this morning.  I'm supposed to go tomorrow and then get my final release on Wednesday, but I'm going to ask them to combine tomorrow's PT with my "graduation" so I don't have to drive over there again on Wednesday.  I have to admit, I never thought it would work, but my pain levels and the numbness in my toes has decreased a LOT!  I'm SO relieved!  I was beginning to think I'd never get the feeling back in my toes, which, when you're diabetic is a MAJOR concern (right, Carolyn?).  Anyway...now that I know the back therapy works, I'm probably going to do the therapy for my shoulder again.  I did that once and it did nothing, but this place is GREAT...specializes in back and neck ONLY.

Okay...so I'm trying a "color" this morning.  Have no idea if it's going to be hard to read or not until I post it.  I'm using a black screen, so not all of them are easy to read on black.  What's everyone else use (screen background)?

Shar...Em did great!  Brenda posted it a couple pages back but I guess you missed it.  Of course, Emily ALWAYS does great...so no big surprise there (but I'm not a proud aunt or anything  :wink ).

We got some snow out there...can't tell how much but it looks like a couple inches...again.  *sigh*  Hope the roads are cleared up somewhat by the time I get out of here (in about an hour).

I just wanted to stop by to tell everyone to please be careful out there today.  There's just a light dusting of snow on the ground, but my driveway is a solid sheet of ice underneath.  I fell in the driveway and hit the back of my head on the pavement  :doh.  I'm okay, but feel really weird.  I know that I fell, and I know that I sprinkled Ice Melt on the sidewalk, and I know that I took a shower, dried my hair and got dressed, but everything feels like it was a dream  :para.  Well, on the bright side, I didn't get a concussion this time!  :smile.

I really don't think that I need to go though! I don't have blurry vision, and I don't have a headache.  My ears and my nose are plugged up, but that's not because I fell.  Maybe I just feel weird because my ears are plugged up!

Good morning ladies

Have been very bad this morning - just got up (and they did have work this morning - afraid to go look now, probably none left).

Sharon, Emily did very well yesterday. She took first in the 200 yard free - chopped 45 seconds off her time - that was awesome. She either held her own or bettered her times in the other events. She is so exhausted - 12 events in two days is grueling, even if you are 12 and extremely fit. I bet Michael Phillips wouldn't do 12 in two days. Very proud of her.  PS: Hope you find your camera.

Beth, I think you should heed that advice to at post every couple of hours - can't hurt to do it, could not to.

We got more snow this morning too but it's over now, thank goodness. It is supposed to get up into the 40s next week - how weird is that? Makes me happy to hear that little new forecast though.

IMHO, American Idol will not survive without Simon.  You'd just have another "America's Got Talent" fiasco, methinks.  I still can't even imagine how Ellen is going to impact the show.  I agree with all of you, though - I think Idol has been getting kinda boring in the last couple years (well, except for one Adam Lambert person maybe).

SHARON, I have never had vegetarian chili but have seen recipes for it.  I have seen white chili though made with chicken.  Did you get more snow last night?  My ruebens turned out great and wonder why I don't have them more often.  If I would have thought of it I would have made some hot German potato salad to go with them.
Going to go put a roast in the crock pot right now, I am running late.

SPIKEE, I am fine, was busy  yesterday as Preston and his dad came over.  The tree trimmers had cut a couple of trees down and my son came  yesterday to cut the logs and pick it up as he heats with wood most of the time.

KAREN, you come over here and I will fix you a good Rueben.  Actually our restaurants here in East Tawas for some reason specializes in ruebens.  My favorite one they do here is thinly sliced corn beef piled sky high with melted swiss cheese and piled high with cole slaw and than grilled.  It is monstorus and you need a roll of paper towel to eat it.  Yummmmmmmm!! 

I need to start sorting my laundry too, Shirley!  I usually start it on MOnday, and here it is almost noon on Tuesday!!  :spank2  Oooh, the coleslaw version sounds WONDERFUL!!  I think I'd have to split that with someone, it sounds huge and that kind of sandwich wouldn't be good left over.

Relax Shirley & Karen I did ask my heart doctor about shoveling snow.  He said I could as long as I don't over do it.  The snow that I shoveled was no more than 1" if that.  I was mostly just pushing it.  When it is more, he goes out with the snow blower.
If Dick had his way, half the time we wouldn't even shovel at all.  I'm the one who likes it shoveled.  If you do it early enough, the sun helps melt the rest.  My house faces the north, so I don't get the sun benefits to the top half of my drive.  It is always in the shade.  My driveway turns to ice if I don't stay on top of it.
I did have to go out and shovel today though.  The snow plow came by and buried us in.  I had to get it cleaned before it turned to ice.  I didn't redo the driveway again.  I just dug out the end of it.  I really didn't overdo it.   :kisser  Thanks for caring.

Peggy, just don't overdo - a little (mild) exercise is good for you though. I tried a bit of shoveling but didn't last very long. The cold air is too hard on my lungs. It will melt in the next few days as the temps are going up above freezing, so no harm done.

I did watch Idol and agree there was some good talent (vowed to remember their names but have already forgotten.) Did like the guy who had cancer and the girl whose grandmother has Alzheimers - do remember them just not their names. Posh bothered me at times but not at others. Randy is the one who bothers me the most actually. Am anxious for Ellen to start - really adore her! I will miss Simon. At times he infuriates me but agree with his assessments most of the time (just not his delivery). I think I will like The X-Factor. Don't like the 28-year age cutoff for Idol - seems arbitrary.

Think I'm gonna lie down for awhile since I have no work. Will be back around 8:00 to check again. Ta-ta!

SHARON, I don't want you to feel bad  :hugg not your fault.  I do have trouble from time to time with certain large emails.  I am still getting the error trianagle on my email messages but yours never came thru so I will call my internet provider and see what is going on.  I am real cautious with my computer like I don't download anything and some emails I delete without reading as I am so cautious,  because of the dial up and the age of my computer.  I know if something happened to this computer it is doubtful I would be getting another.  We are getting some warmer weather this week and sure hope you are too.  I just got my electric bill yesterday and just about passed out so I hope the furnace doesn't run as much so my gas bill is not sky high also.

Ladies, I need help! My grandson Adam's wife is just a little over 6 months pregnant with a baby we thought she would never be able to conceive. Adam just took her to the hospital because she was leaking clear fluid. And it is amniotic fluid. They are pumping her full of fluids and steroids in hopes that they can give baby Chase a little longer to let his lungs develop. They said his chances right now look good, he is fine, not in any distress but Gina will have to stay in the hospital, in bed till he is born. They said the next 24 hours will tell. Please pray for them all. This couple has been through so much, first Gina with cancer and at deaths door, then being told they could not have any children and then the doctor telling her to get pregnant asap if they want children because she would be needing a hysterectomy soon. Just yesterday the doctor told her that she was doing so good chances are she could have another baby. Her cancer doctor said she was doing great but he was concerned because the baby was so big. Well Adam is huge and was 11lbs at birth! Ouch!  I will keep you all informed

Shirley - I probably should give her a call.  We have been going out to lunch once a month since I've been off.  We don't have a date yet for this month.
Yes, I have a doctor checkup this Friday.  I'm hoping that he will take me off the blood thinners.  :cross  I don't mind being on the cholesterol or blood pressure meds, but would really like to get off the other.

Sharon, I've never seen a cable schedule, even basic, that doesn't have PBS. It's usually your nearest university station. But it is a a US Government channel, so maybe that's one difference your country and my country have. Never fear, you will see that program somehow.  :slick   :clap

This Haitian situation is unbelievable, isn't it? When they hav big earthquakes in rural China, even, we know everything that's happening. Not in Haiti. Prayers for everyone who is there and who has loved ones there.

Thank you all for the good wishes and prayers for my minor surgery tomorrow. We are ready to head for Lansing............as soon as the MSU/Minn bball game is over. I probably won't sleep tonight, anyway. Not even a sip of water can pass my lips after midnight! You may see me writing epistles here in the wee hours of the morning just to get my mind off things. If so, just ignore them when you get up. I called my good friend/golf partner Mary Anne today to wish her luck on her surgery tomorrow. She has to be at the hospital at 5am. (She's in Mesa, AZ.) she is usually a calm person, but surprisingly today she was really wired. She can use some prayers, too, please. She doesn't know I'm having surgery, and it's at the same time she is.  :wink

The Clay news is really exciting. If his new CD is going to be really old love songs, I could sure have suggested some favorites. Anyone else? For instance, Sh-Boom and Stardust. Anyone who is smiling, weren't those the good years" Anyone who's confused, you're too young to understand.  :lol

Hope everyone had a good day today.  I just finished dinner, I had pork stir fry with fresh mushrooms, red onions and tiny green peas cooked and served over rice cooked in chicken broth.  I also had some great vegetable egg rolls to go with it.  One of my favorite meals.  fast and healthy!!!!!!!!! 

Heading off to get my shower and things ready for the night.  I found that I was not fond of Karen on AI last  year and really don't like her this year!!!  I really rather have Paula back!!!!  I guess I really don't like change.  I guess when Simon leaves so will I.  I guess it must come on at 9:00 tonight.  I need to go get my shower, everyone have a good night tonight.

Update on Chase and Gina. They have Gina positioned in her hospital bed flat on her back with her head lower than her feet. They are tring to keep her still so she doesn't lose any more fluid. They took an ultrasound and the baby is about 2 1/2 lbs. And there is quite a bit of amniotic fluid left so if they can keep Gina still and the baby stays another 24 hours the prognosis is good. His little lungs are not developed yet. Good news, they didn't find any tumors on/in Gina :doh :doh :clap They wrer worried about that because she is pretty big, but that ended up being a good thing because it is all baby and amniotic fluid :clap

Mary, thanks for the update on Gine and the baby. They can do great things these days to help the tiny ones.

Thinking of how hard Gina and Adam are trying to have a baby, it makes me sad to think of all the little ones like hers that are aborted. I can understand the stress some people are under, but it's still very sad for everyone involved. I am not passing judgment on anyone.

Peggy, I'll be in Lansing, not Ann Arbor. Are you having tests done Friday? If so, sure hope everything is super. Regarding the old music, our high school dance band was The Stardusters, but you're not that old.

So listen to what happened to me yesterday. :icon_eek: Went in to the drivers license office to renew my license. The two forms of mail I brought were not acceptable because the post office had my change of address stickers on them. so I cam home & got my lease. Went back, they asked if I had my birth certificate. I handed it to em....and they asked if my name had changed since then. Well yeahhh...I was married. They tell me I need my marriage certificate. So came home again...searched...couldn't find the marriage certificate so I went downtoen to the courthouse and bought a cert. copy. Back I go...give them the lease, my birth certificate, my drivers license, social security card, marriage certificate,  and a utility bill.

They said they can't clearly read my last name on the birth certificate...now I have to order a new one from Ohio. :bang :bang :bang

Just WHO in the hell else do they think I am!??

BRENDA, I am thinking the same thing as you are!!!  New CD YES, oldies, NO!!!!!!!!!  Hubby even finds Clay's CD's boring and he likes boring music.  He needs something new and fresh that says HEY HERE I AM!!!!!!!!!  Daughtery is a smart one.  His last CD which is a runaway smash has all kinds of music on it, rock, slow and country with a song with Vince Gill.  It is a great CD.  Clay should look around and see what is popular with the fans, that is who he needs as they are the ones with the money, to heck with what he is comfortable with!!  I am so sorry you have to wait still longer for that surgery!!!!!!!

KIM, your Secretary of State office sounds like ours.  When we know we have to go we get mad before we walk in the door as we know what we are going to have to deal with.  It is totaly ridiculous.  It would be nice if they could be like that where airplanes are concerned so they don't let the terrorists on board.

Anyone watch Idol last night?  I was so happy Vanessa Wolfe went thru to Hollywood.  She was the "Tennessee Bridge Jumper."  My eyes were all dewy after watching.   Not so many wowed me last night; I think Boston was better.  I read where Justin Williams, the good-looking hunk who has survived cancer went to Hollywood last year, too.  He was in the group "White Chocolate" with Kris Allen and Matt Giraud, who really wowed the judges with their group performance.

Karen, oh, I sooo agree with you about Vanessa. I was crying like a faucet. Isn't it amazing in this day and age, in this country, that some people are so disadvantaged and isolated. I am sooo happy for her!  Hope the cancer hunk makes it thru Hollywood week too.  I was really upset at AI with their treatment of that one poor "hick" guy - I thought their treatment of him was inexcusable - just really mean = the guy in the blue shirt with the bad teeth and thinning hair. I think we will see the "General" - 60-something - guy on the show for sure.

Not much going on around here today.  I did get to sleep in this morning, though, so I just finished breakfast.  Gonna wait about a half hour and get on the treadmill.  This is such a long drawn-out process....this weight loss stuff.

I agree...Clay has already done a mopey love song CD.  But...unlike the rest of you, I don't think he really cares about his career.  If he did, he wouldn't ignore his fans--especially on his fan club site (where people have to PAY to get ignored).  I think he's made plenty of money off us and he can afford to give it up and not DO the singing thing now.  I'm not sure I'll even buy his next CD if it is a rehash again.  I NEVER listen to the last one...NEVER.  I've probably played that CD a total of ONE time -- in the car right after I bought it.  I don't even know where it is.

Mare, I have to say I agree with you, for the most part, about Clay. I don't think he cares one way or the other about his career. If he did he wouldn't abandon his true fans. I just don't think he likes the "life" But I will probably still buy whatever he sells. Then again maybe I will wait to see what this CD is like before I make that decision. I just tried calling her cell # and got her recording (voicemail).  I don't know when she'll be home.  She had to be at the hospital at 5:45 this morning, but she didn't say what time her surgery was scheduled for.  I'm assuming it was about 8.  No idea how long it was supposed to take but she did say it was supposed to be a "simple outpatient thing" (according to her doctors).  Maybe she'll be up to letting us know how she is once she gets home...or maybe she'll ask Jim to let us know (hoping one or the other).

Anyway...that's all I know.  I could try her phone again later, but if she's home and resting, I really don't want to disturb her.  Play it by ear, I guess....hmmm?

fast update on Chase and Gina. Gina had only one contraction since the water started leaking so that is very good. She has made it past the first 24 hours and that is great. They are pumping her full of antibiotics and steroids. Every hour that Chase stays inside of her is that much of a better chance for him. Your prayers are working. I knew they would. Power to the MCRTM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Checking in to see if anyone had heard anything re Becky. Hard to wait sometimes. I'm sure she will let us know as soon as she can. She will have to go thru some recovery before they let her leave and then they have to make the trip home from Lansing so could be a good while before she even gets home.

The classic romance songs (did some searching on the web) are for the PBS Special - not necessarily the CD. Someone did say that they had listened to some of the CD (in the studio) and it sounded great, so maybe there is still hope for something new CD wise. However, no news about CD release date doesn't seem to fit an early 2010 release, and, if that is so, then a tour is also not likely.  I will still hope for some new and "marketable" songs until we hear otherwise.

Kim, local vets often will take care of injured animals - I know Julie has called upon her vet many times for such things. That's why I suggested you call a vet. Is he still out there, poor little duck.

I am back at Dad's apt. 1 1/2 hours closer to the hospital than our house. We're here because I have to see the doc at his office tomorrow morning and he suggested we NOT make the long drive. All is well so far. Thanks for all your caring concern.  :hugg  Wish all the medical treatments many of you are going through could be over so quickly. My post-op apptmt (if all goes well until then) will be 1/27. Funniest part of it was my teeth were chattering like crazy.  :blush  Couldn't get them to stop until the anestheliologist told me not to worry, that they'd stop momentarily. That's the last I remember until the recovery room.  :lol

My dad called to tell me about the old guy whose pants kept falling down on AI last night.  :lmao  Since I am currently on wireless here, I watched the youtube. Good for Simon to be in on the fun.  :lmao Boy, the youtubes load quickly on wireless!!!!!

MARY  :hugg I Know you sure aren't looking forward to this back surgery!  Let me know what the doc says on the 28th.  I continue prayers for your eye sight.  I still have so many problems with mine.  Can not focus half of the time, blurred the other half, scary most of the time.  I live in fear the same  eye will detach the retina again.  Don't think I could go thru the surgery again with this spine of mine.  The first back surgery what would they be doing?

MARILYN, I love the way you express yourself woman as you always say exactly how I feel about Clay.  I  was a huge fan of his, couldn't get enough info about him and now I don't feel I know him at all.  I think the people like Diane makes him look good as she pushes the good causes. As far as this CD don't know if I will buy  it either as I don't play any of his CD's.  I take that back I have a couple I play they he made before he was even on AI.

BRENDA, & SHARON if the CD is about the 50's and 60's that is not going to be new for CLAY!!  people will say he is singing the same ole!!!  This is like his comeback CD and should hit people in the face and it doesn't sound like this CD is like that.  Sounds boring already! but I bet Clay is the one who decided on what to sing, I think this is his big mistake he doesn't listen to anyone else.  I really am not interested in songs with Clay's messages about his life, I like good words and great music and hubby loves a good beat like he says.

BECKY, so glad  you didn't try and drive home.  After any surgery that would not be a good idea in case you needed to get back to the hospital fast.  Just lay back and rest now!!!!!!!


 

Obviously Clay needs a  songwriter - wonder if he would listen to my son's demos? Have you read the lineup of artists on Decca - not exactly Pop royalty.  I love 50s and 60s music but Clay needs another rehash CD like he needs another hole in his head. This could be the final blow to his so-called career. Oh well!

Just donated to Haitian relief through UNICEF in Canada.  This made me feel in a small way I am doing something for those poor people.
A nurse from a mennonite community just north of me had only landed an hour before the earthquake on a church mission, she along with 10 others from a church close to me were all killed, while there to do good, how sad.

Philly, I like CTMEOY, too. You know, he's always said he liked Cetera's music, and he sings his songs with DF. Well, I bought "The Best of Chicago" on sale and have just played both cds and loved them. Never really knew who Chicago was or what their music was. Love their sound. Ah, Shirley et all, we have to agree to disagree. I think the words and music to On My Way Here were outstanding and beautifully sung, but there just wasn't enough change of pace on one CD. Too bad you and I aren't technically smart enough to do a mix of all of Clay's songs to play instead of playing one cd at a time. Bart just called. Riley has been sick since yesterday afternoon, and an hour ago she spiked a 103.? fever. They are on their way to the doctor. Madisen is doing some kind of program at school tonight. It seems the whole family can never go to the same place together these days. I may have no business doing this, but I am hearing some bad feelings developing over opinions about Clay, which may I add you are certainly entitled to, each of you. I am only trying to temper these opinions to have everyone comfortable posting with that in mind.
There is a lady in this fandom who posts in the CM thread, whose opinion I always love to read, as she sees ALL of Clay~~~the good and the  bad.  I think most of you know Gwenn, and when I saw this post, it really helped me put this whole new CD, Decca, PBS thing in proper perspective.  Scroll if you wish, just trying to keep this RTM home a place where we can share opposite opinions comfortably for all.

THE ISSUE IN MY HEAD IS THAT CLAY IS 31 YEARS OLD.  HE NEVER SAW HIMSELF AS A ROCK STAR.  LISTEN TO HIS DEMO AND THAT IS HOW HE SAW HIMSELF.  MY OWN OPINION IS THAT HE HAS ENOUGH MONEY SO THAT HE CAN NOW DO WHAT HE WANTS TO DO.  IF IT DOESN'T WORK OUT, HE GOES BACK TO RALEIGH AND DEDICATES HIMSELF TO CHARITY AND WE ALL LOSE THAT GORGEOUS VOICE.  WILL THIS CD DO WELL?  WILL HE CONTINUE TO SING?  I DON'T KNOW.  NO ONE DOES.

 BUT ONE THING IS FOR SURE.  CLAY WILL KNOW THAT HE DID WHAT HE WANTED. 

I THINK HE DECIDED THAT HE HAS TO BE WHOEVER HE REALLY IS.  HE TOOK BACK HIS PERSONAL LIFE IN 2006 AND NOW HE IS TAKING BACK HIS PROFESSIONAL LIFE.  HIS PERSONAL LIFE IS FULL AND HE HAS WHAT HE NEVER DREAMED HE WOULD HAVE.  PARKER.  HE DOESN'T HAVE TO HIDE.  HE CAN JUST BE----LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

SO, HE IS GONNA SING HIS HEART OUT AND HOPE THAT THIS IS GOOD ENOUGH.  MY FINGERS, TOES, AND TUBES ARE CROSSED THAT IT ALL WORKS OUT BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO LOSE HIM.  OR THIS FANDOM.

I guess I don't understand why ANYONE would have "bad feelings" over anyone else's opinion.  Opinions are just that...opinions...based on each individual's feelings, which BTW...just happens.

I am one of the ones disillusioned with Clay.  Nobody here made me feel that way.  Clay himself did that.  I enjoyed the concerts and Clay performances as much as anyone else (I already knew what I thought was obvious and it made no difference to me...still doesn't).  More than that, I enjoyed the camaraderie shared with all of you and have warm feelings for all my RTM friends. 

What makes the difference to me at this point is that I don't think Clay WANTS stardom. and I don't believe he ever did (I've said that ALL along).  That's fine and that's his choice, but at the same time, I don't think he can have it both ways...he's either "in" it or he isn't.  I kinda feel like he's only "in" it when he wants something from us...no other time, and I don't think that's fair. 

Okay...that's all I have to say on the subject.  I have no personal animosity against Clay or against anyone for their feelings or for expressing their opinions.  This is...at least for the time being...still a free Country (I think), and everyone is entitled to their feelings...good or bad.

I am wondering if the "bad" feelings are in the RTM? Yes, I am very disappointed that Clay is making yet another "oldies" CD. I wanted more from him and for him. It seems such a waste of his talent as I don't think it will sell very well and he inevitably will lose this record deal as well and probably be gone (oh, well, he essentially has been gone for quite a while anyway). I am disappointed because I sincerely loved going to his concerts and spending time with all of you and it looks like that is a thing of the past. No, he doesn't owe us anything - we chose to do what we did.  However, I actually thought (and he actually said) he cared about us so I find it quite incomprehensible that he can't even find time to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to people who have supported him through thick and thin for so many years - I really don't think that is a lot to ask.  Other artists who are much busier than Clay can find a few seconds to do so. Don't mean to offend anyone, but each of us is entitled to our own opinions -- good, bad or indifferent. I would still go to his concert but without blinders the next time and mainly to spend time with all of you.

Got a real shocker this morning and am still reeling over it. Called to order a three-month supply of my main med for my COPD and learned that my insurance has changed drastically. There is now a deductible and a percentage copay instead of a fixed one (this doesn't even count the raise in the monthly premium). That one drug has almost tripled in cost, plus the $100 deductible which did not exist last year. They said they sent me a notice but I certainly can't find it if they did. At least it put me ahead in my tax prep - have been going thru all my expenses since I called them. Did a little more research and found that most of the Part D plans have gone the same way. They said it was due to the rise in drug costs. D___ drug companies. They were already bilking us. I'm not sure I can afford to take any of my meds now. I don't know what to do. Am contacting my congressmen for sure!  :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang

BRENDA, what drug is that you are talking about?  Is it the inhaler?  I get all my nebulizer meds from Medicare.  They are billed and pay the supplier.  Than I take the steriods and the only other med I take for the COPD is the combivent  inhaler and I pay $38 or I should say I paid $38 last year per month for that.  I haven't ordered one  yet so don't know what it is now.  I know I paid $ 4 a month  copay for generic drugs and this year they raised it to $7.  I have to really watch it this year as I spent over the amount for drugs last year by October. The general public is really getting screwed big time by the drug companies and the government and the Congressmen and Senators are not listening to us.

That's funny, Shar. Just got home from seeing "It's Complicated" too - very cute, very funny and with a lot of pathos. Laughed a lot - loved it! The whole crowd seemed to love it as well. I really hope Alec Baldwin doesn't really quit acting!

Marilyn, that is not Medicare - no cuts there that I know of, just a slight increase in premiums (happens every year). That is the Part D drug plan and it's done by private insurance companies not the government. I'm still so pissed my head is steaming.

Becky, hope you're getting a lot of rest. Marilyn is right, if you have a fever you should call your doctor and probably get an antibiotic. BTW, I agree - don't understand why anyone would be upset that we are not thrilled with another 'cover' CD or that Clay seems to be ignoring us. Karen is also right - we want more, not less. I want more for him, too, not less - I think he is selling himself short. We have invested a great deal of time, faith, emotion, money, and caring in this young man and I think he does owe us the same loyalty that we give him, that's all. We are the ones, after all, who made him rich. I don't think he will get much radio play with cover songs and that makes me sad. I would love to be positive but I don't see much to be positive about in this move. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and his CD goes platinum - just doubt it very much.

Yep, Rita Wilson, and George Stephanopolous' wife was in it too - didn't you just love the scenes with the four women! Hold your belly funny. I'm not a big Steve Martin fan but I even liked him in this. Wouldn't you like to have a view like that from your bedroom - wow. Now I want to make chocolate croissants - wish they would have given us that recipe.

Am up very early to go be with the girls. Julie has to go for an entire day of "training" on being a school board member (huh?). She has to leave between 7:30 and 8:00 (it's 50 miles away) so I am going to go over so the girls won't be alone while they are sleeping. And to take Caity to her acting class then both the girls out to lunch and just hang out until Julie gets home later in the day. Haven't spent the whole day with the girls in a while so am looking forward to it.

Well the last time Igot my hair done by a gal at work's cousin...I liked it ok...wasn't anything different,and she didn't do enogh highlights. SHE charged me 200 bucks. Time before that the other lady turned my hair orange. AND she charged me 150 to do it! :bang

so this time I figured I'd go somewhere cheap...and that way if they screw it up, it wouldn't cost me an arm & a leg.


And then they go & do a better job....for what like...1/3 the cost!? (39.99 for color & cut!)

To everyone else, things are all right.  I have a bone density test scheduled for MOnday morning to find out why I keep breaking my toes.  It is very disheartenening.  I hope the news is illuminating.

I too am a little bummed that Clay is doing more old music.  Would love something new.

I'm doing much better! I found out that I have no blood on my brain after I had a CT Scan on Thursday but found something else out!

It still sounds crazy to me, but explains a lot.  Here's how it all started....Monday, I fell and went to Urgent Care.  I was told everything's okay, just take Tylenol for the pain and rest for 24-48 hours.  So on Wednesday I called my PCP to schedule a follow up appointment.  I went in on Thursday for my Dr. appointment.  He asked me if I had had a CT Scan, and I told him no.  So immediately after seeing him, I went straight to get my CT Scan.  After that was done, I was told that my Dr. would have the results in an hour and that he would call me as soon as he had them.  After I left to have my CT Scan completed, I ran some errands, picked up the kids from school, and came home for 15 short minutes.  When I was home, my Dr. called and told me that there was no bleeding on my brain  :smile.  But then he proceeded to tell me that he was told that they noticed something on the CT Scan and that I needed to schedule an MRI.  He told me to look this term up online...Corpus Callosum.  He told me that what I have is called Agenesis Corpus Callosum, meaning absent.  He says that it is the nerves that connect the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere of my brain together.  He said that it is something that is congenitally absent, meaning that I was born without it!  :scratch  So, ever since Thursday, I've been online looking up all sorts of stuff about this.  He also told me that after my MRI on Tuesday, if it comes back that I actually do have this condition, that I could see a neurologist afterwards.  Which I really don't see the point in.  I mean, my academic career is over, and I don't really see the point.  I've been able to adapt quite well.  It does explain to me as to why I was the type of student that I was.  I was good in certain subjects, but when it came to science or history, the comprehension was just not there.  I had a horrible time remembering what I was reading and did horrible in those subjects.  I would eventually like to finish my degree, even if I'm 60 when I get it!  :wink.  And maybe seeing a neurologist would maybe help with that.  I don't know, what do you all think? And this time I do (cringes) want your honest opinion! Or do you think it's a waste of time, and to not bother.  I mean, I've managed for 40 years without knowing about it, and I've been able to adapt.

Beth - (My opinion) - I would go and have the MRI.  (Is insurance coverage a problem?)  You have probably always wondered why you had a hard time with certain learning tasks.  Go to the neurologist and hear what he says.  There is always so much info out in cyber space that you don't know the specifics of your case.  If I would have just gone by what I found on the internet, I would have thought I would have had to have open heart surgery.  Go and get some answers.  You never know if there is something you might like to know to pass along to your kids.  It won't hurt and as long as insurance covers it, I say go and check out the info the doctor can tell you about you.  It has nothing to do with your academic career.

OK - Sharon - I loved Gwenn's perspective and we all want Clay to do well, but I have to agree with a lot of his fans. Just look at his fan club this year. After charging everyone, he totally ignored us.  I hope his record does well, because he does have a beautiful voice, but I don't think singing is his priority now.

When I was t-boned by that car in March, they did a Cat scan on me. They found dried blood on my brain from something in the past.  So I had brain damage in the past and didn't even know it.

As I understand it, there are many different manifestations of ACC - ranging from almost no effect to very severe.  It wouldn't hurt to find out if there are any genetic consequences for your kids either, probably not, but won't know until you see someone who can interpret your specific case - not the internet generalities interpreted by a layman. GO!

Kimmie, poor Betty. Bronchitis sucks but she is doubtfully contagious. It is an inflammation in the bronchial tubes that has resulted from not being treated for her original illness (which was probably contagious). She will be fine in no time.

Marilyn, call me - I really need to know what happened that you get an actual visit in your own home - wow!

I had a great time with my girls today. We played games, laughed up a storm, painted, did homework with Em, went out to lunch, and generally had a very pleasant, enjoyable day. They are leaving for Florida tomorrow morning so I will be heading back over to get my granddog and say bon voyage. I'm already lonely, but Cristien will be coming Monday and staying until Wednesday. He is going to be so happy to find Sandy here.  Can't wait to see his face. The girls come back next Sunday. Just hoping they have some warm weather. Pray for a safe trip, please!

Sharon, let us know when you get home please - are your roads clear? We have been above freezing for a couple of days - the roads are great but there is still a lot of snow on the ground - not melting.

Well, everyone left a few minutes ago and I'm TIRED!  Those kids get out of the house so infrequently that they're like wild animals when they come over.  Good grief.  I love my son dearly, but he really needs to grow a pair and stand up for his children.  Those kids need socialization in the WORST way.  I feel so bad for them because they are going to have one hard time in school. 

Anyway, Brenda and Shirley....the only reason they came over is because Jenni wanted to come over with Cali, so Jenn figured Dylan and Cali could have a "play date."  Cali is such a quiet, well-behaved kid that I think she was suffering from shell shock after seeing Dylan go stark-raving wild.

Shirley...I cheated on dinner.  I picked up three rotisserie chickens from Sam's club and had mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, broccoli and corn...and dinner rolls.  Everybody loves those chickens and it sure makes my life easier!  They are DELICIOUS, WAY bigger than Kroger's chickens and only 4.95 each.  Can't beat that for sure!

Anyway...that's all I've got... *yawn* ... I'm worn out!  :lol

Shirley,  I finally found my Daughtry jewelcase.  Figured out that "Tennessee Line" is the song with Vince Gill.  I just listened; it's a really nice song!  Vince mainly does just backup vocals, which is fine by me!  It does have a country sound to it, yet is still very much Chris Daughtry.  Thanks for telling me about this!  :clap :hugg

MARILYN, yep we are worried about Preston to as far as when he starts school.  Right now the world revovles around Preston and when he starts school he will find out it doesn't.  :nixweiss:  Poor little guy he is always around adults, no little children for him to play with.  I think getting the chickens is great, I love them to and buy them often and use for chicken and dumplings and than make soup from them to.  You can't buy a whole chicken and cook it for what you can buy them already cooked for and they taste so much better.

Shirley and Marilyn, we have discovered Sam's Club chickens, too!  Wonder how they get them to taste soooo good??  We always take the skin off, where all the spices are, yet the chicken still is flavored.  And SOOO tender!  Much more "bang for the buck" than the grocery rotisserie chickens!!  (Can you tell I watch a lot of HG-TV?  Bang for the Buck is a good one...) :wink

Wish I'd seen that duet....I don't watch all that many awards shows, since nobody else in my family likes 'em.  Dave is usually at one TV watching his shows like "Smithsonian Channel," or "History Channel," so Justin, Matt & I watch on the other set.  We usually watch a DVR'd show or DVDs of shows we like.

Morning all :wave Shirley we went to a chinese buffet last night.  It was all on Al's brother and wife, they treated 10 of us. I then went back to their place to finally do our Christmas gift exchange.  As usual my SIL is very generous and she and I will be doing a two day spa getaway :clap I just don't like night driving anymore, was only about 45 min from home, but it's busy hwy driving :bite funny as you bet older night driving is a pain :lol

No Costco around here, Carolyn.   Wish we did!  We're pretty fortunate to have a Sam's Club!  They just built it about 2 years ago.  :clap  Otherwise, we used to have to wait till we made trips to Dayton or Columbus!

Shar!  What a great Christmas present!  Where is the spa?

I've tried the Costco chickens, too...as well as Kroger, but I still prefer the ones from Sam's.  The Kroger chickens look like chicklets compared to Costco AND Sam's in size...they're tiny.  Sam's chickens have a better flavor than Costco.  I'll buy Costco if I can't get Sam's, but Sam's are MUCH better. (My hubby got a deal on a Costco membership thru his work, so we have both--but I shop at Sam's more often because their prices are better).

Don't get to see my little grandbabies today, dang it, so I guess we'll push one day up and go to the gym today.  It's always so packed on Monday anyway, so going today will be good.

Wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone.  I went out and had a 'girls night' with Jamie and Lylah last night.  Mark took Kaylee to the Monster Truck show last night.  His uncle has a truck that he runs and they like to go and support him.  This is the uncle that lost his dad last week, but the uncle is under contract so he had to go.  Anyway, they had a ball.  Kaylee loved it, did I mention that she is a little tomboy?  Jamie and I watch the movie 'Fame' and had a bowl of peppermint icecream.   :bigsmile

Tomorrow is Robbie's BD.  We are taking her to the new Golden Coral  that is opening tomorrow near Lakeside Mall.  We have been waiting for this one to open for 2 years.  Dick loves buffets, we can each eat what we want, all we want.

Sharon - Don't know what happened but my internet wouldn't connect. I'm so glad I have Matt here. He fixed it in no time at all but I just had to wait until he came home from the shop which was 2:30 AM. Then he was too tired to look at it and I had to wait until the next day.

I'm making my plans now to go to Florida. I have Matt's birthday in April, then Mother's day in May, so I'll check with Bozena to see if the end of May - first of June is OK with her before I book anything.

I've been going to an exercise class. Sharon, you would be proud of me. Of course, I'm the oldest one there, but the exercises are designed for seniors with no jumping in them, so they suit me fine. I'm going to do the exercises here at home on the days I don't go. Sure hope it helps. Hoping it will help lose weight and also help my back which really is in a lot of pain.
Just arthritis and osteoporosis - nothing that old age wouldn't cure. :lol :lol :lol

OMG - BETH - I saw your post after I was reading the different threads and I wrote a long post . . . but I inadvertenly pushed post and it didn't drop here at RTM . . .  So here's an update on my adventures!  :hypno

Hope everybody is having a good Sunday!  My Sunday is going better than late Friday night/early Saturday morning did! :bang

OUCH!  I had just gone to bed around midnight Friday night and had taken my bedtime meds to help me sleep.  THEN THE PHONE RANG . . I was groggy and kind of asleep (I think) and I tried to get to the phone in the kitchen.  But I stumbled over a clothes basket, lost my balance, and hit the back of my head on the wooden part of my curio cabinet.  Then I noticed my head was bleeding so I had to call Nancy.  I landed in the Emergency Room at our hospital and, after doing a CT of my head to make sure there was no bleeding inside my head, the doctor put 6 staples in my scalp.  I also bumped my nose, so that is kind of bruised.  I am completely OK, but I wish I hadn't RUSHED to try to get to the phone.  As it was, it was the Assistive Living Home where Mom lives.  They were calling me to say that she had fallen when she got up to go to the bathroom . . . . but she was OK.  I think they called me because Mom has been having more problems being ambulatory lately.  WHEW!

BTW - I had my cell phone on my bed stand . . . . but the "home" called my land phone which is in the kitchen. :icon_rolleyes:

I am lucky I didn't tumble down my stairs from the bedroom to the kitchen. My injury could have been so much worse! :blush

BETH - I am just fascinated about the findings on your head CT.  I join so many of the others who encourage you to follow through to get more information.  All through our life, we learn things (not just in school) and this sounds like an opportunity to find out more about yourself and possibly others!  :hugg

I had hoped that I would be watching the Packers in a play-off game today . . . . but they lost last Sunday in overtime!  :slick

Marilyn - Thanks for clearing up any concerns about which chicken was better.  I don't think I will change my membership though.  I do love my Costco meats.

EVELYN, glad to hear you joined an exercise club.  Just be careful as if  you have the Osteoporosis bad you can snap your bones so easy.  I hardly did anything when I fractures the bones in my spine but my bones were just so thin that just about anything will snap them.  Don't mean to scare you but just a warning to get a  new bone density test if you haven't had one in a long time.  I wouldn't want anyone to go thru what I have.

Goodness gracious ladies, I thought I was the only klutz here! Barbara, 6 staples in your head is a lot of staples. Either you have a pretty large cut or the Dr that stapled you was extra careful. On your head they don't usually worry about scarring so they tend to make bigger stitches. Glad to hear you checked out ok though.
Beth, I agree with everyone, I would want to know as much as possible about this condition. As they say, "knowledge is power"
Kim, the Z pack isn't necessarily a fast acting antibiotic but the meds keep working long after the last pill. Tell Betty to please be patient as bronchitis can take quite some time to clear up completely. Glad to hear that you had such a fun birthday. I would love to be a fly on the wall when you have had a couple of adult beverages :lmao
Gina and Chase are doing fine. He is staying put where he needs to be. Gina is being great about laying on her back as still as possible. She just wants this baby so badly as does Adam. He might just be their only chance. Thank you again for the prayers.

I have been just taking it easy for the most part all week end. Yesterday my sister came over and I taught her how to make my mother's apple pancakes. She is the oldestr but has never been very domestic. Now she decides to start cooking?? Anyway her son, the one who is Schizophrenic, loves my apple pancakes so I always make him some. She decides she will start making them for him. I say good for her! We also made some more plans for our Alaskan adventure. She is just so excited. I am loving seeing her this way.

I can not wait for next week for my back Dr appointment. My back is just so painful these last few days, it is all I can do to get out of bed. I can't even sleep. I think I just might have to break down and go a couple of milligrams higher on my pain meds. I will really be loopy then!

Becky, at Sam's club, we buy Aqua Fina water, cat litter, kitchen and garage size trash bags, Olay Regenerist moisturizer, Planters deluxe mixed nuts (2.5 lb box for $10!), great bottled root beer, Bounty paper towels, toilet tissue, Health Valley Fruit n Nut bars(for me), big bags of cut up broccoli, fresh thin green beans, portabella mushrooms,  x-large bags Lays ruffled potato chips (2 for $5), the best and freshest avocados I've ever had, batteries, and of course Roasted Chicken!  Other things too, but these are our regulars.

Sad news in Chillicothe.....a fire last night killed a 3 year old girl. :sad Justin actually saw the fire while out with a friend and watched the firefighters for awhile.  Turns out the little girl is the niece of a good friend of Michael's.:cry  So sad.

Thanks, Karen. Your list sounds pretty darn good. We stopped shopping there because we don't have much storage space for the quantity you have to buy, but maybe it's worth another year to at least try it. The last thing we bought there was my parents' calling card.

Becky, street lights and headlights really bother me at night.  I have a special prescription on my night driving glasses with anti glare to help. Just don't feel comfortable as a woman at night alone in a vehicle.

Shar, I am up but still no work - haven't had one single job since the 11th. Incredible. They say my one little account is having computer problems and can't upload jobs to us until they are fixed (when in the world will that happen, I wonder). I let Sandy out, gave him his pill, took mine and came in to check the work status and see what is up with all of you. I'll take the coffee for sure.

I don't like driving at night either but will do it if I have to. The same with flying - hate to fly but will do it if the trip is really worth it to me (like New York or North Carolina, etc.)

Speaking of flying, Emily got patted down at the airport yesterday because she had her cell phone in her pocket. They were several hours because of the fog, but longer after they finally got on the plan because the police had to be called to eject two women off the plane (I think for being drunk). Scary way to start a trip, especially when you are already uncomfortable with flying.  I was so happy to hear from them when they finally landed about six hours late.

Chris was supposed to arrive at about 6:00 this morning from California too. He said he was going to sleep in his car for a while and pick Cristien up at 11:00 before coming home. Haven't heard otherwise so I assume he landed okay. He was sooo happy to be leaving California as he said all the seals had left and they had seen no birds for over three days and were all guessing that that meant something bad was about to happen (earthquake?). Good lord, I hope not but am so glad he is back in the midwest.

Barb, glad you putting the phone next to your bed. You scared me. I think you were fortunate; it could have been so much worse. Thank goodness you are basically okay. Isn't that ironic though - you fell because they were calling to say your mom fell - shivers.

Becky, I let my Sam's Club membership lapse a few years ago because I could not use the quantities you had to buy. Was good for only a few things for me. I have a problem with storage space just as you do (now worse than ever since Chris moved back in - almost critical).  Cristien will only be here overnight this time. Since Chris had to go to California and would be gone this weekend, they traded weekends. He was supposed to have Cristien this Mon, Tues and Wed but she took back the Tues and Wed for some reason, said Chris could pick him up on Thurs this week instead of Friday. I'm sure he will just want to play video games (that is all he ever wants to do now). That's okay with me as the only other things he likes to do are super hero things like sword fighting, running around "flying", etc. and I can't do those things. Hopefully he will grow into some nice board games and things like that soon. He never liked blocks, Legos or things like that either so got rid of those (well, they are in the basement). It's great just to have him here though and I still get hugs and kisses from time-to-time.

Karen, so sad. Unfortunately, that happens a lot too. Never understood how the mom or dad get out and the kids die. I think I would die just trying to get to my kids. The girls have fire ladders in their rooms and a designated place to meet outside. The thought is so scary.

Mary, can't wait to hear what your doc has to say about the surgery. Please don't keep us in the dark. Glad Paul is being good - 11 days and it should be a habit - maybe he just needed to propose to be really committed.

Evelyn, it's nice to have a puter expert right in the house, isn't it? I had that trojan last week - I don't know what I would have done without Chris. Marilyn, do you do trojans?

Beth, very weird but makes sense too.  Sounds like  your right hand doesn't know what your left hand is doing since the two sides of your brain are not connected. I do also think you should see the neurologist. Forewarned is forearmed - could be important and can't hurt.

PS, You know Walmart and Sam's Club are pretty much the same (except for the quantities). Walmart sells roast chickens too and no membership required. (I just like Kroger's better).

Watched the Golden Globes last night too - recorded and sped thru many of the acceptance speeches as well as the commercials. Didn't agree with all of the winners but in the end don't really care. Fun looking at the dresses though.

Gonna check again to see if any work came in - eternal optimist that I am.

Shirley, I make a batter with eggs, flour, oil, baking powder and milk. I peel and cut the apples and sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon and mix the 2 together and then fry them. If I make the apples thick then I will bake the pancakes for about 10 minutes. Easy and delicious! I do not know why I am the only one in my family that makes these "special" things, probably just because I like to do it.
I am going with my sister to Alaska on the Norwegian Cruise line. She is single and really doesn't have many friends but we are very close and travel well together. I prefer to go some where with blue water and warm weather but this has been a dream of hers for a very long time so I just decided, "why not" That is not to say I don't want to go. I am almost as excited as she is.
Cindy, that is so cute that your parents travel together even though divorced. Any chance they might get back together? My ex and I got along great until about 5 years ago, then he decides he hates me. And he is forever making nasty remarks to my son and the girls about me and Paul. The whole thing is he is mad because I have lasted so long with Paul and he is very jealous because the girls favor Paul. He has never had a girlfriend since the divorce and is going to die a lonely miserable old man. And that is his fault and a shame because he is very handsome and basically a good guy with a lot to offer. Just very bitter! Sad.

I also can not understand children dying in a fire, I understand it happens but I like you would rather die than go on living wondering if there was something I could have done to save a child.

The great debate between 'Sam's Club' and 'Cosco' is that I have never joined either one.  My ex works for Sam's Club and when the kids were younger, he kept trying to get my hubby's SS#.  I wouldn't join for that reason.  Didn't trust him.  He is going to retire by the end of the year I think, so I might join next year.  Not sure though, we don't really need to buy in bulk anymore either.

Just home from a trip to the dump with my friend Sharon, we filled both vehicles, I can't believe what's down there in that workshop :hypno Still haven't gone through the boxes that came back after the flood, trying to sort through all the rest of the" has to go" stuff first.  My van is empty right now til Wednesday, first day back to business, so trying to get as many loads away as possible :clap It sure feels good to get rid of things that are just taking up space.

Joey said his interview went GREAT! :bouncy :bouncy He said he really liked the guy...he was nice and told Joey he was impressed with him. That he would be submitting his report immediately...and wanted him to get in because it'd make him PROUD to have recommended him!

Joey felt it went incredibly well....

Shirley...Joey is just interested in the field of engineering...hasn't decided on a specific yet. Maybe bio-engineering or mechanical or informational... or aerospace? lol   hasn't found his niche yet. This program he's trying to get into will help him do that. It has ALL the engineering programs. University of florida only offers a couple- I think mechanical and aerospace...and Florida State listed NOTHING he liked! :bduh (so we didn't even apply there)

the only one he doesn't seem to care for is chemical engineering...but he's never even had chemistry...so how the heck would he know!??. :lol

I worked today.  My head feels good.  Had to take Mom for a doctor's appointment late this afternoon.  The doctor took lots of blood tests and made a few minor medication adjustments.  She is just wearing out, I fear!  :hugg

My beautician friend, Bernice, had me stop over early this evening and she "gently" washed my hair, set it, dried it and combed it out.  She avoided the staples   . . . .  :clap

Off to the first of my last three PT appointments.  I know...I say that every week.  :lol   Well, after meeting with the doctor last week, she said this is DEFINITELY my last week.  I'm going to wait a bit before I start the therapy for my neck and shoulder, though.  Might end up going to Tn the first week of Feb....dunno yet.

Anyway...stay warm out there!

Well, darn it all. I just might have to relent and join again. If we are going to start getting news on him again I want to be in on it!!! :purpbana

Just got home from the doctors and the hospital.  No that isn't true my last stop was McDonalds and my tummy is stuffed.  I am really tired and headed to lay down for  a while.  Doctor said my lung that was partially collapsed this summer when i was so sick sounds like it has collapsed further he is thinking 3/4 of it is collapsed now.  XRAY will tell what is happening.  But that is why my breathing is so much worse.  So like he said between the Pulmonary Hypertension, the COPD and the collapsed lung not a good situation.  He is changing my blood pressure meds again that he changed in November.  He thought the change would expand my lungs but it didn't work out that way.  The leg I can't walk on got XRAYED in the hip area.  He is hoping the tibia didn't break off.  He spent a long time with me as he always does.  He sent me right over to the hospital for Xrays of the hip and the lungs.  Blood work for Potassium and Magnesium levels and kidney study.  I go back to see him next Tuesday hopefully I will know something tomorrow but don't know what they can do for my lungs at this point  With the bad lungs and the problems with the spine still,  sure didn't want more problems but waking up with pain seems to be the way my life is going and I am a bit of a downer right now so  please excuse me if I am not real up beat!!!

I was going to take a nap but never got to.  The doctors office called me and next thing I knew I was watching Adam on the Oprah show.  I missed seeing Susan Boyle.  I know one thing about Adam he is one of the most polite people to be interviewed, he always seems very respectful. He comes across as such a nice guy.  Gee I wish I had his head of hair!!!!

KIM thanks so much I will take one of those hugs for sure and while you are here please give Betty a hug from Pepe and tell her to be careful that she does not end up with pneumonia.  Tell her to rest and take her meds

I missed both idol shows this week and I was planning on watching them for a change.  I wanted to see Shania.  I have always liked her.  We took Robbie out to dinner yesterday and then her and I went to see Avatar in 3D.  We both enjoyed it, long but good.  Tonight, I went to the funeral home for one of my neighbors.  She was a school bus driver at the local school.  She passed away from cancer throughout her body on Saturday.  I will be going to the funeral tomorrow.  She was a really nice lady. 


I went to the doctor today and she put me on antibiotics.  I still have my cough and runny nose from my cold I got just before Christmas.  This is how all my heart problems started last year.  I hope I can finally kick this thing.   :bang

Got work yesterday afternoon, typed one report and as soon as I tried to send it the internet went down - can you believe my luck? Lost that job and wasn't able to work anymore yesterday. There seems to be work now so am going to try again. Wish me luck!

Just wanted to stop in to tell you that the MRI went fine yesterday.  I didn't post about it yesterday, because there's nothing really to report.  I'm not claustrophobic, so I just closed my eyes while I was in the tube and just laid there with the ear plugs in my ears that he (the technician) gave me.  Nothing too exciting! He did give me a CD to keep  :lol.  And the only thing that he said was that the dr. there would contact my dr. in 2-4 business days and when my dr. contacts me is up to my dr.  So, now I just wait!  :nixweiss:

Oh my goodness all my sick buddies.

SPIKEE, don't like the sound of things that you still have that cold.  Do you think you aren't getting enough rest with baby sitting and shoveling snow.   You must stop that, I know when you tell me you shovel the snow at the end of the driveway after the plow comes thru you are shoveling a lot more than a little bit.  Seems like your cold started bad things from happening and now you are going thru the same thing again.  Same with me, fracturing spine bones before started me on the sick road and ended up doing it again.  Doc called about one of the blood test the only one he got back so far and they needed for me to get on this medicine right away.  I will get the other test results today I hope.   

KIM, I am scared for Betty.  Take her to the ER right away.  That is how life long lung problems start is with the pnuemonia.  I have had it three times already.  Has Betty ever had the pnuemonia shot?  I had the shot two years ago and still got the pnuemonia last year they said it was a different kind than what the shot was for.  :bduh Keep in touch with us and let us know how she is doing.

BRENDA, my goodness have you been watching the news about the weather in California?  Ever since you mentioned Chris saying the birds and the seals left I have been watching, the tornadoes, horrible storms they are having, am wondering what is coming next for them.  Glad your son got home safely. Hope you get some more work today. Maybe it is a good day to bake cookies or cupcakes for Cristien if  you don't have any work.

I don't think ma has pneumonia. They X-rayed her in the ER. Lungs were ok...just in the tubes. Plus...no fever.

BUT...just found out she didn't take the steroids they prescribed. :naughty
She's only been taking the antibiotic.

Made her start em this morning. Plus...when I came home from work last night, she had the heater cranked up AGAIN (this is how she got sick in the first place I think) and it was a swarmy 80 degrees in here! Being that the high was 70 yesterday...she needs to not run the dang heat! :bang It HAS to cause some irritation in the tubes...breathing that hot air.

I made her sit outside til she caught her breath...and opened the doors so the house could air out. :icon_eek:

I'll see if the steroids help. She's got 2 pills left on the Z pak...when those are gone, I'll get her something stronger if she's still bad.

Need someone to stay home and guard the heater switch when I'm gone too. :doh

Heh. I made Betty start her steriods this mornin. She's supposed to do 6 pills today, 5 tommorrow...then 4, 3, 2, 1...

Anyway...just those 2 pills this mornin made her clear up quite a bit. :clap

Kim, that is what is called a Medrol Dose Pak and the steroids usually do work pretty fast. It is very important that she take the pills as directed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim, sounds like she has that swine flu.  My neighbor had it, thought she was getting better, then woke up the next day and couldn't catch her breath.  The doctors gave her steroids, which she said cleared her right up, and she got better really fast after that!

I've never heard of steroids being given for just having bronchitis. :bduh

Karen, I get steroids for bronchitis all the time. I believe Shirley does as well. They are miracle drugs but can have some pretty nasty side effects - not to be taken long term (hopefully).

Kim, take the heater with you (I assume it is movable) to work. High heat levels like 80 degrees will dry out the bronchial tubes and encourage growth of bacteria and viruses - not a good thing. Cannot emphasize enough that she needs to take ALL her meds until completely gone and, at this point, she probably should see the doctor again. Better safe then sorry. Peggy, you too - take all your antibiotics, please. and take care of yourself.

Shirley, I thought the same thing about what Chris said about the birds and seals - I think they are in the midst of an El Nino right now that is causing all the storms and rain problems.

Our weather forecasts for the next week have deterioriated somewhat - dang it. More wintery weather on the forecast now.

Got a nice line count today before the work ran out. Am hoping for some more this afternoon. Now I am afraid to even take a break if we have work. Just want to keep working so I can get as much of it as possible.

She's done with the antibiotic...took the last one today. But she just started the steroid so we'll give that a day or 2 to work.

She is the worst patient..honestly. :lol Stubborn momma...won't do anything I tell her. How much you wanna bet she cranks that heat the minute I leave? She won't drink tea or anything with antioxidants...just soda. Not really eating right either...but she IS sleeping.  She doesn't wake up at night coughing...sleeps right through the night (don't ask me how)

What is a Z-pak? Never heard of that before the RTM. Most of the drugs we hear about are juvenile related.

I went to my neighbors funeral today.  Sad to lose her.  Good to see all the (old and new) neighbors together again.  We talked about how we should have a reunion every 5 years at least just to keep in touch. 


Shirley - I am really trying to be good.  When I was shoveling the snow, I didn't have this cough like this.  I'm hoping that the antibiotics do the trick this time. 


I just came back from the drug store, I had to buy somemore cough drops.  I went through the whole bag of 30 in about 1 1/2 days.   :eek 




Becky - The Z Pak are antibiotics that you take for 5 days.  You start taking several pills the 1st day and everyday you take less pills, needing to take them all for the total benefit.


Kim - Hope that mom behaves herself while your gone to work.  Is it possible someone can come and check on her?  Maybe drop in unexecpted like?

Tonight at work..all the girls & cooks & stuff were actin suspicious.
I figured they musta been trying to pull some kinda birthday thing for me tonight since I took Friday off.

So in she goes and I can just tell they are up to somethin.

So I go around the outside of the building and look in the front door to see what they are up to.

So I just stood outside the front door...lookin at their backs..all still waiting while I pointed & laughed. Miguel (who is no longer crosseyed Thank God) the pizza cook saw me first.

Anybody heard from Ann lately?  I miss her (and Anita, too).

Man...I'm tired tonight for some reason.  I finally got my "official" discharge from PT today, though, so I can sleep in tomorrow.  I have to go back once a month for "maintenance" to keep my back from relapsing (?).  Have NO idea what happens after that, but I'm just happy to have a little feeling back in my toes -- at least part of the time.

Anyway...that's all I've got.

A late hello  . . . . it is still "today" in my time zone.  :blush

My Mom went to the hospital during the night. She felt short of breath.  They are checking out a lot of things because she complains of being so weak and is hardly ambulatory at all.  She is dehydrated.  Mom is not real compliant with following doctor's orders. She may need more care than she gets at the assistive living place and may need to go to the nursing home. Some hard decisions to make. Need some prayers, please!  She is 95, so I just want her to be comfortable and have the care she needs.  She is not critically ill, but she is wearing out.  :hugg

So glad that so many of our RTM'ers are feeling better . . . including Betty!   :bouncy

Praying that the rest of our gang with health problems will soon be feelin' groovy!  :hugg

They always ask at the doctor's reception why you are there, and you have to answer in front of others what's wrong and sometimes it is embarrassing. There's nothing worse than a Doctor's Receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong with you, in a room full of other patients.
I know most of us have experienced this, and I love the way this old guy handled it.

A 75-year-old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached the desk.

The Receptionist said, 'Yes sir, what are you seeing the Doctor for today?'

'There's something wrong with my dick', he replied.

The receptionist became irritated and said, 'You shouldn't come into a crowded waiting room and say things like that.'

'Why not, you asked me what was wrong and I told you,' he said.

The Receptionist replied; 'Now you've caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something and discussed the problem further with the Doctor in private.'

The man replied, 'You shouldn't ask people questions in a roomful of strangers if the answer could embarrass anyone. The man walked out, waited several minutes, and then re-entered.

The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, 'Yes??'

'There's something wrong with my ear,' he stated.

The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice.

'And what is wrong with your ear, Sir?'

'I can't piss out of it,' he replied.

The waiting room erupted in laughter..

KIM, I am so happy that Betty is doing better.  Yep those steroids are miracle drugs. In fact it seems that whatever you have that is what they give you.  Was reading over on the OCD thread and saw where Jeanne is having the same problem as you with identification with the state of Florida to get her Drivers License renewed, I posted to her telling that you also was having the same problems. What has gotten into the state of Florida ? 

BRENDA, yep I do take steroids have taken so many for so long that the doctors have agreed that my body will no longer make steroids on its own so I will always have to take the pills. Hope  you get some more work today.  Is Cristien there yet?

MARILYN, doctor still does not know what is going on with me.  How can you be in this much pain and can't walk but they don't know.  He said my Uric Acid was sky high and is adding to my problems as they have been watching me for kidney failure for a while , they said I am anemic and feel like there is some internal bleeding some where but just don't know where so I go next week for another test.  There is rheumatoid arthritis in the hip that is causing a lot of the pain to plus crystals formed in the hip joints that you get from the uric acid.  Who ever heard of getting gout in the hip joints!!  So still and ongoing thing with no definite conclusions on what is wrong with me.  At least it doesn't require a hip replacement that I was terrified they were going to suggest.  I knew I would never get thru that.

Shirley....how's your thyroid?  When my thyroid was so outta whack, I felt like I had arthritis even in my teeth!  I couldn't walk when I'd stand up or get outta bed in the morning.  That was HORRIBLE!  Now that my thyroid meds are regulated, I still have stiffness sometimes, but not the pain like I was having...sheesh!  Such a simple thing, too.

I suspect the Florida license thing has to do with the number of illegals in that State...no?  Comprende?  :wink   Should we feel reassured that somebody is checking documents?  I would feel reassured if I knew they were checking the terrorists' docs as closely...but we all know they aren't.   :bduh

Glad your mom is better, Kim!  If steroids are so wonderful, why aren't there more addicts (I don't mean the lifting-weights steroids, y'all)?  I think I've only ever had to take them once.  Of course, if they were addictive, a lot of people would be floating around looking like balloons.  Those things PUFF you UP!

Shirley, my heart goes out to you. At least I know what is wrong with me. My sister also can not get anyone to figure out why she is in so much pain. She used to tell me all the time how she was so lucky, she used to say. "at least I am not always in pain, like you are" Now she is in more pain than me and they can not find out why. Her pain is when she walks, mostly. Has your doctor told you anything about changing your diet to help keep the uric acid under control? I am praying for you too!
Peggy, hope that cough goes away soon, and you get "all better" soon.
Kim, steroids are the bomb. When they work, they work like a miracle. Glad Betty is getting better, but make sure she knows that she will relapse if she does not finish the dose pak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I have to get dressed and go to Target with Paul. He wants to look for some movies and we need to get new containers for the cat's kitty litter. Fun!!! But the girls are coming over tonight. I have not seen them in a week, and that is a long time for me!!! Usually they are here every other day! My daughter is stopping in to see them too. She needs some good Maddie hugs. She is so depressed, with all that is going on with Brandon. He just keeps getting worse!! He is not ill, so I am not sure prayers will help. He is in serious legal trouble of his own doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes it double hard on her because he is so far away and so much needs to be done that he can not DO. We just might have to fly out there and move his stuff out of his apartment. Anyone out there looking for 2 cats? One of the cats has 7 toes on each foot. His paws look like the mitten of Michigan. Cute as hell!

EVELYN, April is a great time to go visit Bozena.  The weather here is not that great and Florida should be perfect at that time.  But who knows this year it might snow!!!  I have never seen weather like this all over the United States.  Are you taking any medication for your back?  Have you had a bone density test yet?  I have no idea whether they really work or not. 

MARY, so glad the baby seems to be doing well.  Maybe the middle name should be miracle!!!!! 

BRENDA, so happy you have another account to work on.  I know not having the work means not having money.  You have had enough bad luck this past year and want 2010 to be a great  year for you,.   :hugg  It is 40 degrees and sunny here, I can hardly believe it.  What a wonderful winter here in East Tawas so far.

MARILYN, how wonderful!!  That information you posted to me could be so helpful.  For one thing I have had something in my throat that has really been bothering me for the past two years.  Some times I can not swallow at all.  sometimes it feels like I have a little ball in my throat, I have almost really choked on just a tiny bit of something as my throat won't work.  I have not ever mentioned it to a doctor as I always have so many things wrong that a couple of things I do not mention as I don't want to get involved in more things.  I know my sister did tell me that my thyroid could be causing this problem with trying to swallow.  I have written a note down to take to the doctor and mention the thyroid to him and my experience with the throat also.  It might all be connected together.  Thanks so much for caring and sharing this information.  How do they test  your thyroid???????

Well, I have periodic blood tests to check my thyroid hormone levels and in the beginning, I had a thyroid scan done (with radioactive dye stuff).  I guess when I was young (a hundred years ago), I had an overactive thyroid.  I was skinny as a bean pole then.  I guess my thyroid worked itself out and now I have a non-functioning thyroid, so I take medication every day. 

When I started on the diabetes medication, it threw my thyroid meds off and my thyroid outta whack.  So...now it's finally back to some normalcy (medication-wise), but I have to tell you, my doctor kept telling me it was arthritis.  BULL!  I didn't believe him and I'm glad I didn't.  Now that the meds are adjusted, I'm fine.  Oh, I still have aches and pains every once in a while, but at least I'm not crippled from it anymore!  Sheesh!  WHY do all doctors want to believe everything is age related? 

Anyway...can't hurt to ask!

I was with the doctor when we told my mother that she would have to go the nursing home after being discharged from the hospital.  I couldn't let her see my tears.  However, he said that if she could get some of her strength back, she could eventually leave the nursing home and go back to the Assistive Living Home.  I think (in a way) that Mom fully realizes that she needs more help than can be provided at her present residence.  Rough roads.

Thank you so much to those of you who have wished us (Mom and I) well.  Both of my brothers are on an adventure in Florida.  Mom is not in critical condition, so I have encouraged them to continue their time and told them I would be honest with them if Mom's condition would warrant them to get here immediately.  My brother, Jim, was widowed less than a year ago and this is the very first time that he has made plans for himself to have some fun.  I could use a crystal ball . . . . . I wish I could see into the future.   :blush

Each one of you is important to me.  I wish I could answer your posts and also let you know how badly I feel when you are in pain or when you have worries.

Julie, Dan and the girls are soaking up some of that wonderful Florida warmth (80 degrees today). Hope they bring some back with them. Had a horrible day with Sandy yesterday. While I was working he got into Cristien's stash of candy and ate a whole bunch of Hershey kisses - you don't want to know what happened after that. Suffice it to say, I have used up two rolls of large-sized paper towels and still have a lot of cleaninig to do. They wanted me to put him in the hospital but I didn't think it was necessary. Then I got so worried last night because he started getting somewhat hyperactive (very unlike him) and that was one of the symptoms of chocolate toxicity. I was on the phone with the vet's office several times. He does seem to be much better this morning, thank goodness. Scared me and disgusted me at the same time -- you don't want to know the details. Dogs and chocolate do not miix - it can kill them for real! I would assume the same is true with cats.

There is work, but it looks like not a lot so I am going to get started (a little late this morning - told you it was a bad day yesterday with Sandy).

Well, Dave wants me to work on some ebay stuff.  He's received payment for some things, so now I get to print out some labels, and package the items up.  woo hoo!  :lol

Since Dave was in FL for those few days, his car won't start.  He thinks that there may be water in the lines, or it could need a new belt, or new spark plugs, etc.   I could go on and on!  :lol  His car is 10 years old, so it could be just about anything, really!

Oh since yesterday was our anniversary, the kids are spending the night at my mom and dad's and Dave and I am going out to dinner and to the movies!  :smile

Did you pick a movie yet Beth????  How about a restaurant, you know Shirley will want to know :wink :bouncy

Well, it'll probably be Applebee's for dinner and Avatar for the movie.  Now we just need to decide on times.  The movie is either at 6:15 or 9:30.  I'm thinking dinner first and then the movie!

Beth, be aware that Avatar is a really long movie.  My Justin said it was almost 3 hrs!   Does your theater have the 3-D version?  Ours doesn't; have to drive up to Columbus to see that. :icon_rolleyes:

IF AND WHEN I GET MY LICENSE I WILL HAVE SPENT MORE THAN ATTENDING A CLAY CONCERT!!!!
 AND WON'T GET AS MUCH RETURN PLEASURE.

MARILYN and BARB, what gets me is these little tykes seem to know when to use these words.  I know a couple of words Preston picked up isn't so great and he knows exactly when to use it.   :icon_rolleyes: 

MARILYN, I am allergic to the iodine they  use in some of the xrays so I hope I can still be tested for the thryroid.  Yep reumatoid arthritis is horrible and even young children have it.  It is hard for me to accept that is what this is though.  I now have to sit on the bed in the morning so my hubby can move the bed pan so I can sit in the wheel chair.  As the morning progressses I can hobble around with the cane.  I put the bed pan on the wheel chair next to the bed as I can not get up during the night and walk with so much pain.  Afraid I will fall to.  My good friend DUDLEY's mother fell in the bathroom and died, it was so horrible for her and her family.  I am sure you didn't really want to know all this but since I am talking I just let it all hang out!!! 

MARY, you are going on the cruise on May 28th???  What about your back surgery? 

BRENDA, oh my that poor dog.  He could have died from that chocolate.  How old is he?  Hope he is eating something that will absorb the rest of the chocolate in his system.  Like lean ground beef boiled with rice.

BECKY, maybe the store you are going to has a motorized cart like Walmart does.  If I lived near you and could get out I would come and we could ride together.   :lol  Don has picked up a few things the past couple of days just odds and ends and it has already cost me over $100 but still don't have any real groceries.  We are having Marie Callendars Chicken pot pies for supper tonight.  I would love a nice big fresh salad though and maybe some hot fresh blueberry muffins dripping in butter.  Hey I am not asking for much am I?  Interesting about your mom.  If she was allergic to the dye how did she get tested for her thyroid?  I want to feel better again don't want to come her whinning and crying that is not who I am really!!! 

Shirley, you don't whine and cry; you share what you are going through. We all do. And how many times has someone shared the same experience and given someone else some good advice or encouragement? Actually, Jim picked some food up from one of our favorite local restaurants last night. I had barbeque chicken salad, and, boy, did it taste good. Today, between other things he had to do, he picked me up a cappucino, which also tasted really good. Tonight, it's probably going to be split pea and ham soup, the Chunky variety.  :lol  See why I don't share our meals?  :lmao
