I am too! My dad's friend lost his father in law. He lived in the tiny town of Hopewell right outside of Greensburg. His FIL and MIL were in their storm shelter and the tornado ripped off the door to the storm shelter as it demolished their house. He was killed and they found her barely alive in a nearby field. She's in critical condition now. They are evacuating northwest of town because of flooding now and we have rain in the forecast thru Thursday.

The Griffiths Park fire in LA has caused the rescheduling of the concert at the Greek Theater tomorrow night - or rather, they are moving it to another venue.  Bummer.  I saw Josh Groban Live at the Greek on PBS a while back, and it seems like a such a beautiful venue.  So much so that it could possibly be part of the experience of a show there.

And the fire was intentionally set?  Jerk!

The banner at the CB is about Jericho.   :hypno  But I read somewhere it was going to be picked up for another season, so I'll bet Clay is happy.  Hey, I wonder if he'll end up on the show next year?  As a mute.  *prays no to the mute part*

IMO no one can give the depth, the passion and the love and joy to songs as Clay does, without feeling it deep in his soul. You can see sometimes, how he comes back from another place after he has sung a song.

I was a little surprised at first, but that was one tough woman he was talking to so it fit the occasion.  After all, he is a 28 year old MAN and I, for one, love the way he is growing up.   :bigsmile

I love that the whole bit could have been in response to Ryan's "diss". In a battle of wits with Clay, the man just has no ammunition.

Clay did not even have to say anything-actions speak louder than words. And this is the case with his UNICEF work too! No bragging, just doing- which is TOTALLY opposite of what Ryan and Idol did.

Ugh. I hurt all over. I stood from 4:30 til after 10 last night. The Daughtry concert was awesome though and we were close. He dedicated "Home" to the Greensburg tornado victims. We had 5 survivors alone come into the clinic yesterday.

Marilyn got our Tulsa tickets, so we have one more concert left. That's Asheville and I'm nervous!  :bite

I did a magic show in a theatre that was haunted. It was kinda weird. A young woman was killed there the night the place opened, when a light fell off a track and came down on her head. :para

Anyway, there were a few sightings of her by stage crew and performers. And one night, the magicians' animals were behaving strangely in their cages beneath the stage. One of the handlers took a picture of them, and there was an unexplainable streak of white hovering over the tigers.

Hm, posts have been sporadic over the past couple of days, and we didn't have a Roundtable discussion yesterday. So, I'm going to offer up a question that maybe we can kick around for a bit.

A lot of people liked Clay's song, Touch, on MOAM. However, he did not seem to embrace it as much as we did--for whatever reasons. There were lots of different theories and rumors about that. Anyway....

I was wondering. Now, 4 years down the road, Clay's a little older, wiser, more experienced in The Biz and in life. He's in the planning stages of a new CD and surely wants it to be a chart-buster.

If he had never encountered the song before, do you think he would put Touch on this new CD--and perform it live?

Hrm, interesting question Sunny.

I'm not sure.

I think that it depends on the types of songs Clay was listening to for the CD.

He sure has loosened up a lot in the last four years so it's entirely possible that he would choose to put it on the CD himself if he liked it.

I tend to think that Clay fought not to have Touch on the first CD thinking that it didn't go with the rest of the songs on it.

But since then he's done WDC, and other songs that are far sexier than Touch so who knows.

I'm looking forward to this next CD and I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that Clay finally gets to show the rest of the world his rockin chops that he's shown us.

A lot of people would probably be surprised.

I don't think Clay would record "Touch" on another CD, been there, done that.  He did dig his heels in NOT to perform it in concert.  I'm not sure why, but I think once stubborn Clay makes up his mind, he sticks to it. :hissy As Gwenn said, he didn't have a problem performing WDC, so I think he just didn't like it and, neither did I.  As a matter of fact, that was the one song I ff'd through. :tomato When the big fuss came up about his not performing it, I didn't even know what song everyone was talking about.  :brainfart

My singular wish is that the new CD include "Lover All Alone."  That song needs to be available to the mass market.  IMHO!  :thumb

I just received Clay's Field Report from Afghanistan.  It's very well written and the pictures are great!

The report is 4 pages long (really 3, because the 4th page is a big picture).  The pictures are of his trip, some of which we've already seen.  It's written on lined white paper, and signed "Clay Aiken, Unicef Ambassador".  The report was dated today (5/15).  There are nine pictures in all.  There are pictures of him "teaching", two pictures of him at the UN press conference, and one of him on his night off singing karoke.

Monday, our afternoon appointment was a drug rep named John. He's been coming to the clinic for years and knows about my love for Clay. Well, he told me he had seen Clay on TV last week and I asked him if it was Kimmel. He said it was and he told me how funny Clay was! He said you can tell Kimmel really is good friends with Clay and that Clay is a funny guy by himself, but together they were hilarious! I told him that Clay is funny and Jimmy is a great guy. He said something about how he'd like to see more of Clay's Kimmel appearances, so I might have to make him a DVD.  :smile

I THINK ACCORDING TO MEDIABASE, IT WAS JUST RELEASED..

Well, I am technically unemployed again! (My choice) When I was hired I told the assistant manager that I had some 4 day trips planned in July and August, booked before I decided to go for the job. She  said no problem since I was part time (only 20 hours a week).

Well today I gave the manager the exact dates and she said could I cancel the ones in August because that was her super busy times and she needed me. Told her no- plane, hotel, etc already booked and other people relying on me. She said she really needed me to be there at those times. Well, for the salary they are paying I am NOT losing all the money I laid out. So I told her I would leave- she wants me to come back in September because she really wants me to work for her.

So- I am unemployed sort of kind of- I still work for THAT GUY until he can find someone else (which he seems to be procrastinating) and I am going to keep looking.

There is an article on TVGuide.com about Kelly Clarkson's new CD. She talks about how Clive Davis and RCA wanted her to record other songs and not ones she had written. I know she had that issue with her last CD and I'm not surprised that it came up again, but Breakaway was a huge success and won Grammys. I'm glad that Kelly stuck to her principles and recorded the songs she wanted to. Let's hope that Clay can do the same.

On a lighter note- my youngest, Jason, came and took me to dinner tonight (yes it was the first day of my newest diet) because he was at a wedding Sunday. Rained like a son of a gun but we went to this great seafood place on Great South Bay (Long Island) The BEST Seafood bisque- had sherry in it. When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink I told her unsweetened iced tea- Jason gave me this LOOK-so I changed it to sex on the beach and MAN was it good. Had a broiled fishermans platter-bay scallops, shrimp, crab cake, baked clams, and flounder. Baked potato, zucchini. NO BREAD. It was sooo delicious- got to talk to him more than I have in the past month

And so..........I told him all about my Clay ticket buying!!!! :lol :lol :lol I am sure he was THA-RILLED about that!! But he's a good kid.

As far as the changes at RCA - whatev.  I just want some new recorded music from Clay.  The last twenty CDs I bought were on local labels or self produced, so I don't really care what they do.  Besides, Clay has a whole team of highly paid professionals to handle that corporate BS.

I remember once at work I was listening to a YO-YO Ma CD and half the people I worked with didn't know who he was.

I hope that Clay's next tour (after this one) is more like the Jukebox Tour.  That was so much fun.  I think that a tour like the JBT would have a better chance of attracting the unconverted than a symphony tour, IMO.  What's your opinion?  Of course, we who already belong to the Clay Nation will go to see him anywhere, anytime.  Maybe when his new album of ORIGINAL songs comes out, with a tour CLOSE TO THE TIME   that it's released (highlighted parts are wishful thinking on my part) will have that type of show.  I don't mean singing the oldies, but with his original singing with the kind of energy and audience interaction the JBT had.   What's your opinion?

I agree, another JBT tour would bring in a LOT of converts I think. I've noticed his videos on youtube have been attracting a lot more people the last few weeks of 'Idol'. Can he sing the fun songs and dance a bit with an orchestra? I've not seen him live yet.

I think that is one of the curses of living in eastern NC.  I have been here 30 years and I have suffered from allergies and sinus infections the whole time.  

I resorted to trying a Sinus Rinse Kit earlier this year (sold at just about any drugstore) .  It really is not as bad as it sounds.  It's not a complete cure (of course, if I would use it on a more regular basis it might be) but it did help me some.

Barbara, I saw one of those on Oprah ask Dr. Oz the other day!!! Actually it looked like Aladdin's lamp.

He said that flushing out the sinuses with warm water and salt on a regular basis helped reduce the occurrances of sinus infection.

Because we're all annoyed and stressed over tickets, Clay owes us a blog?  Sorry, but I don't agree.  While I would love a blog, I don't think it's "owed" to us.  As we've always said, Clay doesn't owe us anything but a good performance, which he always delivers.....even when ill.  I imagine he'll blog when he has something to say to us.  Yes, we always go the extra mile for him, but that's what fans do.  However, he has given us some pretty nice "gifts" also.  The JBT is one that comes to mind.  Clay has a life outside this fandom, and I hope he's living it to the fullest.

And it's sad that Simon and the rest of them didn't want Clay to win. I mean after the fact I'm glad he didn't but I betcha dollars to donughts that they're kicking themselves now that they lost all that money.

Add to that the fact that Clay was all that was talked about after the finale last year and Taylor has kind of fallen into obscurity while other contestants from last year are doing really well,

Even Dare I say it... Bucky has done well. His CD was the first debut by a male country artist to go to number 1 the first week of release since Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992 and AI was not concillitory towards Bucky on the show.

It's that something special. It's supposed to be America's show and we see someone there that we love, Clay, Bucky, Kelly, even the cast offs and we support them and Idol is losing out because of it. Less money for them.

I agree that they can't really blame that on Clay.  His image had already been crafted for his upcoming CD release, which was originally in June. If you recall, it was announced on the RCA site that the release date was in June, then it was taken off the site shortly after.

As far as the IGB thing, Clay isn't the only one who thought it was inappropriately presented.  This (http://galleyslaves.blogspot.com/2007/05/death-of-american-idol.html#comments) blogger did, and so did this (http://news.myspace.com/politics/rightpolitics/item/3697973) one. (Reference the "Idol Gives Back" portion of the blogs, which also contain political rhetoric.)

Anyway, Clay has a right to his opinion, whether they, or we, or anyone else agrees with him or not. 


I think it started back during season two.  Let's face it, while the show desires for the singers to generate fan bases, the judges are the real "stars" of the show.  People love to mock Randy, laugh at Paula, and cheer Simon's blunt remarks. But, when season two became the "Clay and Ruben" show, I think TPTB felt they were losing control.  The Clay Nation was a force they didn't count on, and Clay was the first non winner to prove that for all their accolades and pageantry, it really didn't matter who won the dang thing.  He foiled their concept, negated their premise.  And ever since then, the non winners have continued to break through and often surpass the actual winner in sales, success and fame, thus making the "winner" status quite irrelevent. 

Maybe they should blame the FCC, who declared Idol to be an "entertainment show" rather than an actual contest.  With that decree, all bets were off.

Well I have to say I'm psyched!

Maxi does not have cancer so he's going to be just fine! YAY!

I found a place to sell the bracelets I make! And my friend Dee who is going to sell them for me is really excited about them!

AND Clay was a hoot last night although I will say that I hate the hair too Micki!

I don't usually comment on Clay's hair because I love him no matter what but good lord, last night it was just a mess!

I want to hear him sing again and soon! I miss hearing him sing!

On a side note I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Bucky appearance on AI tonight! I was thinking since Phil is the country boy this year they could have Phil and Bucky do a duet. THAT would be cool!

I agree with you ladies about Clay's hair last night.  I'm hoping they meant for it to look that way because of the skit.  Personally, I thought it made his face look fat and it didn't two weeks ago when he was on Kimmel.

He has so many absolutely gorgeous looks that he sure doesn't need to keep that one.

I agree, Micki.  People who do not really know Clay certainly didn't see what we already know--that he is one handsome, hot man and spectacular entertainer.

Lately he has become better known for his comedic talents.  It would be wonderful if one day "soon" he gets to combine that with singing and show what an all-around entertainer he is to more people (a TV special would be wonderful).

So, I just read through the thread, and Clive Davis was on?  He said something about Clay?  No one said what he said, or why?  And Green Day - what did they sing? 

Pamela, he caught me so off guard I don't remember exactly what he said.   He talked a lot about Daughtry and how well he was doing then he presented Carrie with a plaque certifying sales of 6 million albums and then talked about other idols who had successful albums (or something like that) and he said "Clay Aiken".  That was it.

He was talking about professional songwriters writing for idols and he mentioned Clay first and then Kelly Clarkson.

Well, rain's in the forecast for 4 out the next 5 days. The water receded to the street so I can walk across the yard to get my car. This is ridiculous. Clay can't even rescue me since he hates water.

Maybe he can send you a raft.

My problem with the finale was the focus was not on Jordin or Blake or any of the idols this season but on the random guest stars they could get. I did enjoy Kelly, Carrie, Ruben and Taylor (that was neat to have all the winners, except for Fantasia), but other than that, it was about the Idols. I forgot about Jordin and Blake about halfway through until they showed up for the group number at the end. They were an afterthought to the producers.

And the less said about Clive Davis, the better.    :arg

I didn't watch much of the finale. Surfed off and on and happened to catch Melinda. I knew she was a back up singer before Idol but didn't realise she was a back up to BeBe & CeCe Winan! Holy cow! The three of them were spectacular. Loved the interaction between them too.
The second time I flipped back I caught the Clive Davis introduction. Stayed to see what he had to say. I was surprised to hear Clay Aiken come out of his mouth and in a positive way. Clay was the first celebrity he mentioned while naming off big stars.  :clap :clap Wonder if that was scripted and OK'd by the AI powers. hmmmmm

Didn't know who won until I turned on Fox & Friends this morning. They had Jordin Sparks on. Someone emailed saying they saw she had a ring on her ring finger and asked if she was married. She responded that it was a purity ring. She has committed to staying a virgin until marriage. Good for her. She can be a good role model. Hope Hollywood doesn't change that.

What's most interesting about those viewer numbers is not the lower ratings for this year, but the huge drop after season two.  That was a loss of approximately 10 million viewers.  Of course each year after season three, the numbers were slowly rising again, and this year they lost all that they had gained.

Of course it's easy to say the big drop was because of the "anomaly."  However, it could also be that season three was just extraordinarily lame.  Which it was.   This year, it seemed like the audition episodes went on and on ad nauseum.  And, I never felt like I "got to know" any of the contestants.  Of course I missed a lot during NCAA b-ball season....but still.

This year was just different somehow.  The show has become jaded.  Based on what I've read just in the past week, this whole season was a fix from the beginning.  You have professional singers and people who can't really carry a tune on the same stage.  After six years, you would think they could find 12 people out of 80,000 who could actually you know, sing. 

Anyhoo, I finally downloaded the Clive segment, and WTH?  Is no one else disgusted?  He went on and on about the professional songwriters, and while that may have specifically been designed to be a dis to Kelly, it was really a dis to the whole Idol bank of recording artists. 

Because while I agree with him, in principal, he pretty much discounted so much - the number one thing being promotion, the dedicated fan bases that are formed on the show, the incredible amount of free publicity the show gets in the general media.  This is free advertising for the show, and the singers thereon.  What about the ability to interpret a song, the performance factor, connecting with the audience, the entertainment/showmanship factor, the ability to do more than just sing, such as musicianship (Bo, Daughtry, Carrie,) acting (Fantasia, Jennifer, Tamyra, Diana.)  I'm just saying.

So while I agree that "The Song" is as important as the singer, his comments just seem so short sighted on his part, so commercial, so shallow, so pandering to the masses. 

I guess that's what the music biz is all about today.

I think Clay should start his own label.

Thought I'd chime in here, recovering from a late night of helping my dad and his friend get a proposal for a project out to the Republic of Georgia by three AM wound up awake until 4!!!!

Gwenn I agree! The finale this year? Boring as anything... I was half asleep through most of it.

I miss the days when AI was about the contestants vieing for the title.

When it was Ruben and Clay and the other contestants from that season and previous seasons.

Why not just showcase the talent that has come off AI since the last year?

I would have liked to have seen Bucky, Elliott, Chris... and others.

Instead we get performance after performance from high end performers like Gladys Knight and Tony Bennett.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciated seing them but shouldn't the show be focusing on the talent generated from it?

If it's about ratings maybe they should learn something from this year, low ratings all things considered.

Look back at the most successful season and try to regenerate that.

Don't continue with a forumla that's too long and boring.

I too thought it was interesting that Clive mentioned Clay first and in a positive way.

There was nothing spectacular last night.

I lost interest this season for the first time ever, and honestly, if I didn't have the viewing parties to watch with ya'll I probably would have stopped watching long before last night.

With all the talent that exists out there they need to re-calculate how they run the show.

I read on another board that someone was distressed because Clay was becoming more known for his "hair" than his voice.  I think all these Idol mentions proves that is not the case.  And, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Bette sounded a little "off."  However, I understand she was called in at the last minute because some "big act" cancelled out.  So, she flew in to be on the show.

I totally agree with what everyone has said about this year's AI.  Unless things change, I doubt I'll be watching next year.  It seems like everyone who's watched AI since it's inception has the same thoughts about this year.  There's no excitement anymore.  You know early on who's going to win.  It's too predictable.  This year's finale was one of the worst.  (See, that's what happens when ya don't have Clay Aiken on the show ).  :roflmao  And, you do not want to get me started on Clive Davis who really belongs at the Shady Pines Rest Home, IMO! 

Pamela, rant away!  :wink I agree with a lot of what you said, I just didn't want to say it.  :lol It was a major diss, not only to Kelly but everyone. What about Carrie? Was he saying that just because she had great songs that she is successful? I was so mad watching it. The people I was with didn't know or understand any of it. I was fuming.

This season was subpar. I do miss the days of the first two seasons when the show didn't have the clout that it does now. It takes itself so seriously because it does have an impact on the music industry. And now knowing that you don't have to win it to be successful, that may be why they didn't spend time on Jordin and Blake. Who knows? I loved the cheesiness of it all. Now it's too slick. And artists that wouldn't have been on there 5 years ago, or even 2 years ago, are on there. Green Day, who named their last CD American Idiot, were on there, sure for charity but still. Why give them more time than Phil, the Chris' or even Hayley?

I love this show too much and that is why it frustrates me so much. I won't be able to give it up though. I got Clay, Kelly and Carrie from it. Those are my idols and I am glad that they were given the opportunity.

Regarding last night's finale.  I found it completly "disjointed".  There was no flow. Big name guests appeared . . but in most cases, had nothing to do with American Idol.  The Season 6 contestants were hardly featured at all.  Sanjaya has the last laugh  . . .  he was supposedly a joke, but he probably will be the most remembered contestant of this season and he was featured "big time" on last night's show. I would have enjoyed seeing more of the Season 6 contestants performing. This year, I never felt that I really got to know the top 12.

When Taylor Hicks finally came out, there wasn't even an introduction, and he was last year's winner!  I think Clive's speech started out as a tribute to Daughtry! He rambled.

I knew that Clay would not be on the show and that was alright,  but certainly with all of the talent within the AI ranks, the finale had the potential of being very entertaining . . . but it wasn't. :para

It was pretty much a fitting finale for a lackluster AI season.

I actually hadn't seen a single episode of this season until this week, I watched the two finale episodes. Eh, don't have much to say about it. Can't really comment of Clive's speech either, I fell asleep about 20 seconds into it. But from the sounds of it, I didn't miss much, heh. I'm glad Carrie got that pretty award to hang on her wall. I love her. I love country music.


Conclusion: I want to see the Clay tour.

I'm completely Zen with the AI finale......well, I must confess that's probably because I didn't watch it or AI at all this year.   :bigsmile

But, it's interesting to hear everyone's thoughts and comments about this year's AI season and the whimper with which it ended.

Reactions to the Clive Davis speech intrigued me though, so I went looking for a transcript, just to see what the hullabaloo is all about.


Honestly, the first three times I read it, I had no idea what he was trying to say, and I'm still not sure I get it.  But it looks like the disjointed babble was an introduction to an award for Carrie Underwood's CD sales?????  Is that right?  I'm pretty sure the first couple of minutes would have gone over my head had I listened to him speak. 

Two things that struck me when I read the speech.....the praise to the three judges for discovering Jennifer Hudson....


WTH?  AI's judges get credit for discovering Jennifer Hudson and subsequently her Academy Award?  Yes, Jennifer was a contestant in 2004, sang for several weeks and endured Simon's weekly comments about her talent being better suited for a cruise ship act.  If the AI judges saw her potential as a star, they certainly did nothing to groom her for the breakout career she's now experiencing.  Yes, she toured with the finalists, but after that she was not the beneficiary of the idol star treatment which seems to be reserved for the idols who can fit neatly into the preshaped hole of the moment.  Oh, yeah, while I have everyone's attention, I'd like to take a moment to praise the idol judges for their absolutely amazing discovering of the Idol talent I just can't get enough of....William Hung, the man who rose to the top from obscurity.  The music industry just wouldn't have been as prosperous without  Willie singing "She Bangs" on millions of IPODS across the world.   :rolleyes


I wonder how difficult a JOB it is to DISCOVER talent when you've got an open invitation to every Tom, Dick and Harry in the US to sing for you.  Get on the plane, sit at the table, drink Coke, rip people apart and then head on over to the pent house suite at the hotel for a gourmet dinner, pedicure and a bubble bath, call your assistant to groom and walk the Chihuahuas and spend the evening unwadding the roll of bills in your money clip, which just keeps getting fatter and fatter with each discovery......get on the plane and do it all over again.  OMG!  Someone alert OSHA of the perils and dangers involved in this JOB of discovering the next cream of the crop, American Idol.   :rolleyes

I've often wondered how different my life would be right now had Randy said "No, I'm sorry Clayton.  You're not going to Hollywood."  What if he had a headache or toothache or was drugged up on medication and in a foul mood or thought he had already sent too many other contestants to the finals that day?  What if Paula were there that day fighting with Simon and their attention was diverted from Clay's magnificent voice.  Or, what if Clay wasn't the stubborn, won't take no for an answer dude and stopped auditioning after the let down in Charlotte?  I definitely wouldn't be typing this post on this board right now if any of these hard to think about scenarios had been the case.  What is my point?  LUCK + TIMING + CIRCUMSTANCE with a little bit of KARMA for good measure.....reminds me of the Kevin Costner movie, Field of Dreams.

Revisionist history at its best!  It's laughable really. However, most people don't really care what really happened, they just look at the big picture.  Jennifer's successful, Clive signed her, whatev.  In reality, Clive didn't show any interest until after she won the Oscar.

What an interesting thought.  I guess I feel that Clay was meant to sing, and entertain, and make a difference somewhere, somehow.  So whether he was doing all those things on a local stage, on the world stage, or on a school auditorium stage, he would still be doing them.

Hahah! I love Jill! I was watching a show on MTV Canada a while ago (I think it's called Cribs) where they go and visit the houses of celebrities. Simon was on one of the shows and he was giving a tour of his house. We get into the bathroom and the counter is full of drugs. There had to be atleast 30 bottles of stuff. It seriously looked like he was starting a market of his own or something. Anyway he was standing there babbling about this is how many drugs it takes to judge American Idol and how difficult his job is. Yes. I totally see how sitting in a room, meeting tons of people who travel over mountains and stand in line for hours and hours just to hear your opinion is such a terrible job. And getting paid tons of money on top of it, plus continuously getting paid after the season while the Idol continues to make you money. I think Simon should take a trip to a developing country, work in a sweat shop in worse-than-shitty conditions for a couple cents an hour  before the next season of American Idol.

I want to watch.

Our Jilly doesn't post much, but when she does......whooohoooo!  And she does her research!  Since I didn't tape AI on on Wensday night, I'm glad she brought that transcript over.  After reading it several times, I've come to the conclusion that his babble makes no sense.  Either that, or I'm really dense.   :bduh  Is he telling us it's all about the "new music" and the writers that write it?  If that's the case, Mr. Davis, why did you mandate that Clay's sophmore CD be covers?  What about all the "new music" he recorded?  Is he saying we should bow to the holy trinity.....Simon, Paula, and Randy for a job well done?  Is he saying Daughtry sold a gazillion records, and oh yeah, Taylor and Kathrine may sell a few more CD, too?  WHAT IS HE SAYING????? 

The one thing I'm happy about is that it'a safe bet that Clay will never be on that show again! 

I am loving these posts from Jill, Pamela, Tiffany, Micki-everyone. Idol has grown way to big for its britches. Ryan said its the biggest show in the world- then why did the ratings go down?
And I thought how arrogant it was to go over scheduled time and cut into DWTS and LOST on other channels-to hear Chris D. (not my cuppa)
and the crowning of Jordin was like an afterthought, tucked in after all the pageantry and big name "acts" But you see, they had to get two hours in- whereas in the past the results show was half an hour to an hour. They must dominate the airwaves

And the stupid exchanges between Ryan and Slimon throughout the course of the season was immature, rude, and unnecessary. It took so much away from the contestants. We never got to know them as well as we did the other seasons. And how much did they sing together? Very little- and to me, that is another step in defining your musical talents- being able to harmonize and sing with other people.

AI is a HUGE disappointment to me- its an overblown ego contest, with a couple of aspiring singers thrown in for filler.

IS TYPICAL.

WHAT IS JUST TOO FUNNY IS RYAN PRAISING CLAY AND PIMPING THE TOUR AFTER HE HAS BEEN SO OBNOXIOUS TO CLAY LATELY.  GOTTA THINK ON THAT ONE.

ANYWA, GLAD WHEN EVERYONE IS HERE EXPRESSING THEIR MUCH NEEDED AND APPRECIATED OPINIONS.

What I think I disliked most about this season (actually, the last few seasons) is that (like Marilyn stated), I don't know these contestants any better now than I did 4 months ago.  Why is that?  The first few seasons, we really got to know each contestant.  We got to know their personalities, their likes and dislikes, even their families sometimes.  We got to see the contestants interact with each other while performing together.  There wasn't much of that this year.  I miss that.....ALOT!  I miss the camaraderie of the first two seasons.  The finale this year was just so mediocre for me.  Even when Jordin's name was announced at the end of the show, where was the WOW?  Remember the finale for Season 2?  The mothers come on stage, everyone was hugging, confetti was falling from the sky.  I know it's cheesy, but where was that this year?  Is it because the show ran overtime?  It seemed like the finale was all about how many big name stars they could get to perform, and not about Jordin, Blake, and the other finalists.  I can't remember......were there any performers other than the finalists on the finale of season 1 or season 2?  If so, can someone tell me who they were?  I don't remember any.  I want those early AI days back.

Loved the AI discussions the last few days!  I enjoy hearing everyone's opinion on the show that gave us our Clay. 

Lots to do today.  One of my best girlfriends was diagnosed with lung cancer (YES, SHE WAS A SMOKER) a few months ago, and she started chemo and radiation this week.  The tumor is inoperable.  She's only 46 years old.  So, the girls are getting together for a BBQ today.  I'm sure there will be some tears, lots of laughs (we very funny)  :lol  and lots of support for Michelle.  It's been awhile since we've all been together, and I really looking forward to it. 

I hope everyone has a fun, safe holiday!

Thanks to everyone for the warm hugs!  As it turns out, Michelle did not make it to the BBQ.  She lives down the shore (about an hour's drive away), and just didn't feel up to it.  We offered to pick her up, but she said no.  Needless to say, we were all disappointed, but of course, understood.  She went through alot this past week.  We did call her, and put her on speakerphone, so that was nice.  Hopefully, we'll get together again in a few weeks.  She wants to have us over her house.  Her husband said he will do all the work, including all the cooking!  What a guy!  Said we can all be ladies of leisure.....sitting by the pool while he plays Cinderella!  (Now, there a visual.....Chris is about 6" 6" tall)!

Meesa, after all this rain you're having, you need to move to AZ!  Stay safe!  Hope you enjoyed the concert. 

I don't use that brand of contact solution, but thanks for the heads up, Michelle.  I'm sure there are many people who do.  Let's hope Clay doesn't.  Don't want anything to damage those beauties!

I think I have recovered from yesterday -- up at 5 am and drove an hour to help a friend have a yard sale out in the hot sun all day.  Just the 5 am part was enough to put me down for the day!

The Biltmore fixed my ticket mistake!  :bouncy I called them this morning and told them I upgraded to the are hotel package and wondered if I could return my extra single ticket. They refunded all but the $2 internet fee!  :smile I can handle that. So no extra tickets for me!  :shappy
