Post by: Prissy on December 05, 2005, 08:24:04 PM
It's the season of peace and good will and also shopping and decorating.

Post pictures here of your Christmas decorating, inside and out.  It will be fun to see the Christmas trees, outdoor lights, etc.

Prissy, what a great thread!

I put up a Christmas tree in every room in my home! The live trees are in the living room and the foyer.

One year I sent hubby out to buy a tree. He came back with a small tree. I told him that that was not a Christmas Tree.  It was a joke! That tree ended up in the foyer and every year since we have two live trees.

Our bedroom tree has all Lenox ornaments and old brass ornaments.

The dining room tree has all Waterford ornaments.

The bathrooms and powder room have small artificial trees. The kitchen has a resin tree.

We have a tree at the top of the stairs that has all miniature Hummel ornaments.

The basement has a tree decorated with candy canes because the boys always end up there playing games. Even the laundry room has a tree!

Wow! Mary!

I would love to see pictures of all those trees and fabulous ornaments!  They sound absolutely beautiful.  I hope you will post some photos for us!! :purpbana

Hugs,
Prissy

PS:  You remind me that, once, my quartet played in a large home that was on a Christmas show tour of homes.  The laundry room even had a small tree with a little clothesline going round and round it (like garland) with tiny Barbie doll clothes hung on with tiny clothespins. :shappy

I tried to take some more pics.  :lol  A camera genius I am not!! :bang

I made this tree with Motion Lights.  It is much prettier in action:

We have 8 lighted trees lining our walkway from the garage to the house:

The front of the garage:

These folks are sitting on a platform my hubby built over my annual/herb garden:

This is a wreath hanging off one of our tall tress on the edge of our lawn.  It is 5 feet across.  I decorated it with lights for night and fancy Xmas knick knacks, ribbons, pine cones and bows for the daytime:

This sign is 13 feet long.  I made it out of lights and hubby strung it on our clothesline. :lol
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v73/aikenseeker/Clay%20Aiken%202/turkeydayandXmasdecs018.jpg)

Another view of our manger.  Hubby built the creche:

Our tree:

Not as nice as Prissy's--but here's one view of the inside decorations:

As you can tell-
we made most of these decoration ourselves.  :lmao
That explains it!! :wink

Deanna,

You are so creative!  I love all of your outside lights and the inside, too.  I haven't made anything for a long time, but still use almost everything I have in decorating!!  I have some new photos to post soon.  We are having trouble with our internet and there is no internet on the laptop at all, so I'm on Hubby's "big" computer for now.

I hope others will join in on this thread, too!

Hugs,
Prissy

I love seeing all the decorations for Christmas!

Norm went out to buy our tree for the living room today. I asked him to buy a tree that was 8' to 9'. He came back with a tree that is 11' tall! :bduh

Title: Re: Deck the Halls
Post by: Mary on December 18, 2005, 12:40:32 PM
I called the small tree that Norm bought a few years ago a joke and a shrub. He hauled that 11' tree in today and said that no one is going to call it a joke! I said "no we are going to call it the monster"!

Today I am unpacking my village pieces and houses. About 10 years ago my son Brian decided that he could do a better job with the display and took over my village. I have to admit he does a wonderful job. He is coming here on Tuesday to arrange everything and set up the display. He really doesn't want me to put it up.

For the first time he won't be here on Christmas Eve. He and his girlfriend Erin are spending that night at her parent's house but they will be here on Christmas day. Tim will come home on Christmas Eve.

I had better grt back to unpacking.

Debi,

Your Christmas photos are fabulous. I love seeing Aisalynn under the tree.  So cute!! Thanks for posting here.  I loved the photo in my Christmas card, too.  That picture of Clay in your yard looks familiar!! :para  :roflmao

Mary,

An 11 foot tree!!  I have a nine foot one, so I know an 11 foot tree would brush against the ceiling!!  The village decorations sound beautiful.  I hope you will share pictures of your trees and decorations with us when you can.

The only thing that takes me a while is decorating my tree, and it is prelit.  I try to place things on the tree so that they are not close to something similar!!  Otherwise, I just bring in a Christmas box and start placing items around my house.  Some things always go in the same place!!  This year, I took a few of the regular house items and put them in the Christmas decorating box when I had one emptied.  That worked pretty well.  But usually, I just crowd things in. :wink

I am enjoying sitting in the den with just the Christmas tree lights on.  I don't want to take my tree down too soon after Christmas.  I may leave it up a week into January!

Hugs,
Prissy

Hi, Prissy and Debi!

I have a lot of old ornaments and Christmas decorations. When my aunt, parents and in laws passed I took everything that no one else wanted. My sisters each took a Hummel nativity set and I got all the rest. My BIL wanted to sell everything but I managed to get the few things that I really wanted.

Some of the old ornaments are from the late 40's and early 50's. Something is added every year. This year and last year it was Clay's ornaments.

When my sons were little I took them out shopping to pick out a special glass ornament for the tree. I could guide them for many years but eventually they picked out clowns and sailboats. I bought then each an ornament this year. Eventually they will have a tree of their own and will have something to put on it from their childhood on.

I don't have a clue on how to post pictures but I did get a digital camera and a printer for the pictures. I may have to get one of the boys to help me get them on the computer.

Mary I hope you can post some pictures of your old ornaments and the newer ones too....I bought my daughter a glass ornament each year...it was always a precious moments one...well she has her own house now and her tree is so pretty and has many years of memories on it....I think she really appreciated it when she got older...

Ok now I want to post my favorite ornament of all..my mom bought this one for me about 8 yrs ago...it always has a place of honor on my tree......

I was expecting my son Tim and my sister Jane to stay over on Christmas night. The younger generation decided that because they didn't have to work today that they would also stay over. We pulled out the Areo bed and blankets and had 4 unexpected guests.

Norm, Jane and I got up early. We were trying to be quiet because boys were sleeping in the living room and family room. The kids can really snore. I think that our laughing finally woke them up.

Tim has been home all week and we were expecting him for a day or two! His small office in Philadelphia was closed so he worked out of the NJ office for a few days.

He just got a promotion from Sales Associate (raw recruit) to Sales Executive (better than raw recruit)! He had a friend from CT here last night and that turned into two nights!

They decided to have a last minute poker party here tonight and now we have six in the basement having a good time. One of the boys has been his friend since first grade another since third grade and the other two since middle school. It is so nice seeing them all again after 5 months.

We took all the decorations and lights off the live tree and I'll pack them all up tomorrow. Norm will have boy power tomorrow getting the monster out of the house!

I love all the pictures that have been posted.

Debi, that is a beautiful collection. You have a great space to display them all.

Jayne is right, Debi!

I will have to tell JoAnn about your M&M collection.  Her entire schoolroom has an M&M theme!!

Thanks for all the pictures and memories everyone has shared here.  I hope that this thread will be saved somewhere, perhaps in the Favorite Threads, and we will start it again next year.

But please add in any more photos you have.

I have taken down my "Santa" things, but my tree and "Snowman" decorations are still up!!  I'll probably take my tree down on Jan. 5, the 12th day of Christmas.

Hugs to all,
Prissy

Hello Debi,  Your M&M colllection is so adorable!  How long did it take you to collect all the different ones?
I took all my decorations down the day after New Year's.  Sad but there is always next year.  Each year I buy a brand new ornament for the tree.  this year.  I found the cutest cloth snowman, he had a hat on him just like Clay's fedora, so I grabbed it.  I do miss turning on the tree lights each morning. I loved seeing your collection.

Prissy--Thanks for posting the Jukebox and bobblehead of Clay.

JoAnn--What a cute idea.  I'll bet your students are Cla fans too!

Be back soon!

Deanna, where are you?  I know you like to decorate for the holidays!

I have just about finished my decorating;  not doing quite as much this year.  I am mainly doing a snowman theme so I can leave it up into January and part of February.  I will just take away the tree and the Santas that are out after Christmas. I have taken some photos and will post them when I get them in the computer.

Debi,
I hope we see some Aisalynn Christmas pictures, too. :smile

Hugs,
Prissy

I will post my Snowman Nativity which is on my mantle.

Beautiful, ladies!!!!  Truly beautiful, all of it.  What I love most about it is how each person's personality comes through in the way they decorate and celebrate the holidays.  Thanks so much for sharing with us!

We're sharing more than love and holiday spirit at my house this year.  Unfortunately, we're passing around this horrid respiratory virus that starts as a head cold and ends up as bronchitis.  So we didn't get our big decorations out this year or the house lights.  We decided to keep it simple.

The kids did the tree:

And this is my cherished porcelin Santa - a gift from my mother.  I wanted one for many years but they were very expensive.  She got him for me on year when I was very ill, and he's brought me joy ever since.  He's HUGE!  The Santa is about as big as my 16 month old nephew, Beau!   :lol

Debi,

What a beautiful tree!  That is funny......Aisalynn saying NO when she sees Santa.  :lol

Here are a few closeups of some of the "fiddling characters" on my Christmas tree:

Hi Prissy, sorry I am late. I see you did call me, tho. :lol

Debi and Kris, I love your pictures and now I am ashamed to post mine.  :blush  Debi, Nolan went to see Santa and couldn't take his eyes off him whiile waiting in line. He was even leaning over the fence to get closer.  But, when they tried to sit him on Santa's lap, he said "no"!! My daughter sent me the picture and the whole family is in it.  It is the only way Nolan would stay with Santa.  :smile

Take notice of the big white lumpy present:

Now, here is a close-up:

My cat has stayed under the tree in that spot almost constantly since I put the tree up.  She won't let me put presents there.  :lol

I tried to take a picture of my Tin Soldier and Santa's Boot with the poinsetta in it.  The little village in the middle has tons of flashing fiber optic lights. I got too much reflection from the window, tho:

Here is the same window after dark:

Some of my manger scene.  Hubby and I both feel we should have some of the display show the real reason for the season:

Another of my bow window scenes:

I decided to go with just red plus red and white lights on my tree this year:

I took this picture after dark with no lights on in the room.  My flash is way too bright! I had to cover it to take the picture above.

Deanna,
Great pictures.  I love the one with kitty under the tree.  Hey, a nice soft velvety spot with a tree overhead.  What more could a kitty want? Nolan and Aisalynn need to make a "date" together to see Santa.  :lol

Kris,
I love your tree and beautiful Santa on the previous page.  It's fun to get to "peek" into everyone's house and see the decorations, inside and out.

Hugs,
Prissy

This is the walkway between the house and the garage:

The trees came with the lights all attached. I told hubby that I wanted to leave the trees there all winter so the walkway would always be lit when needed. What do you think?  Do they look too Christmasy or can we use them as "winter decorations?"

Title: Re: Deck the Halls

Deanna,

I say leave them up.   I have seen those trees advertised, and i am tempted to get them to line maybe the sidewalk or one side of the driveway.  You could at least leave them up all winter.

Our Christmas wreath we moved to the gate when we had siding put on the  front porch, and it stays there year round now.  I just change the artificial flowers or decorations I put on it for each holiday or season.

Deanna,

That green you see by my front porch is Asian Jasmine.    Our grass is just now starting to go brown.  I don't get a lot of that "fluffy white stuff."   :lol

Deanna,
These snowmen that I am decorating with are probably the only snowmen I will see. :para  And I plan to leave out the "snow" decorations through January.

O.K., Prissy - just for you - I should be up cleaning something - not posting pictures!  :lol  Click to make pictures bigger.

I have always loved Santa - I guess, as a child, with a Dad who was an alcoholic, Santa always seemed to be another word for "love" to me - I am horrified, after reading Lady C's "Christmas This and That" thread to learn that some of you do not believe in Santa!  :jaw

Santa is everywhere in our house this time of year - even on the bed - this is my favorite Santa pillow - it says "I BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS!"

This is looking up our driveway - Lewis made the candy canes, and over to the right, on the fence, is my part of the decorating each year. I put styrofoam cups into the chain-link fence (Lewis leaves what I'm going to say every year up to me), and he comes along behind me and puts a light into each cup. The years we have tried not to have a fence message, the neighbors have complained!  :lol This year the fence says "Happy Holidays From The McBrydes":

We bought this blow-up this year - I think the grandchildren will love it!

First of all, here is the Christmas Angel (Wild Baby!) who helped decorate the tree this year - (as you see, she was VERY serious about this!):

(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/th_MVC-024S.jpg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/MVC-024S.jpg)

Our tree is filled with 40 years of ornaments - I have every ornament that my children ever made, plus Lewis and I choose an ornament for our tree every year. Since the grandchildren came along, there is also a yearly picture Christmas ornament of them.  (And i have to make a Clay ornament every year, too!!!  :slick ) From a distance, our tree looks pretty normal:

(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/th_MVC-019S.jpg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/MVC-019S.jpg)

But I took a close-up of how the ornaments (especially on the bottom of the tree!) were hung - in clusters - and some of them are backwards!  :lol But the baby worked so hard - it took her hours - so Papaw and I voted to leave the tree just as she decorted it this year - she was so proud of all of her hard work!

(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/th_MVC-026S.jpg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/MVC-026S.jpg)

This rag doll Angel ws made by a friend, and has been on the top of our tree for many years. She is holding a string of wooden hearts that read "Count Your Blessings":

(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/th_MVC-023S.jpg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/MVC-023S.jpg)

This is the table in our kitchen - I collect Santas, and all of the Santas on the table are holding Christmas trees, because my Christmas dishes also have Christmas trees on them:

(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/th_MVC-013S.jpg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/MVC-013S.jpg)

The kitchen has a built-in china cabinet - I put a lot of my Santas here during Christmas - sorry for the glare on the glass! I know you can't tell, but some of the Santas are dressed in Black - over the years, I have bought several New Orleans Saints Santas for hubby Lewis!

(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/th_MVC-014S.jpg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/MVC-014S.jpg)

This is one of my favorite Santa signs - given to me many years ago by my daughter!

(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/th_MVC-018S.jpg) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y130/fhmmany2/Family/MVC-018S.jpg)

That ends my Tour - I have enjoyed seeing everyone's decorations - and the snow, for those of you lucky enough to get it! (I so wish my grandchildren could see snow - none of them every have - and the oldest is 10 years old!) I did not know about this thread lst year - I hope lots of people wil post their decorations!

Frankie,

I just loved seeing your decorations, inside and out.  You can tell that a lot of love and memories go into your decorating.  Wild Baby is so cute decorating and you were right;  to leave it just as she hung things.  Your tree is beautiful.

I just lost my third long post and am just giving up.

I have enjoyed everyones pictures and stories.

This year with a broken wrist I have had to ask for a lot of help and am very grateful for what everyone has done.

Many things that I usually do are not being done. Windows are not washed, curtins and drapes are not cleaned and I don't care! We will have family, food and a good time. No cookies are baked and they won't be.

Norm put up all the outside lights and has driven me to countless doctors appointments and to the stores. My sister, Jane, took a day off from work so I could finish my shopping. She went everywhere I wanted to go and I was happy that she picked up many things that she needed along the way.

Norm has to go out and get his own present from me. He wants an overnight travel bag on rollers. This is not the first time he has bought his own present. One year he wanted a new barbicue grill and I sent Brian out with him. Norm shops price while I shop quality. Sigh.

Jane will come over Saturday to help with what ever needs to be done. I need to cook. She has never cooked anything that can't be put in a microwave! I'll do the cooking but I need the brawn to do the slicing and dicing and heavy lifting.

Prissy, I love the poinsettia tree and wanted do make one for years. Sad to say it would just cost too much each year. I was able to save one poinsettia for a year but it was the ugliest thing the second year.

I have bought a few silk ones over the years and hope that sometime I will have enough for a tree like that.

I have been decorating for Christmas the past few days. Norm took down all of the lights last year when I had a broken wrist and just threw them in boxes. He thought he did a great job because he labled all the boxes. There was no way I was climbing a ladder or a step stool with one arm out of commission.

My old system wasn't good enough for him. At least half of the strands of lights are out this year. It took me over 2 1/2 hours to untangle the lights and cords on a pre-lit tree for the family room because he didn't take the top two sections apart but he did use the wires to bundle them together to fit it in the box for storage. What a mess! Five strands of lights were out. I got 4 working but that fifth one is still driving me nuts. It usually took me about 10 minutes to put that tree together. I couldn't even listen to Christmas music after two hours!

I had all the trees and icicle lights and window candles on timers so I wouldn't have to run around the house every night plugging everything in. I found the timer for Brian's room in the one of the family room boxes and am still missing some.

Now my house looks like a UPS storage facility with boxes in every room.

Note to self: Never break a bone at Christmas time!

Mary - Your post made me  :lol Lewis is always so careful putting things away - he has a system! This year he found everything except the lights that go on the Christmas tree - he fumed around here for a couple of hours, and fianlly said that they were just gone - I must have thrown them away! We had bought lots of boxes of white lights after Christmas last year, and he asked me if I nminded using those for the tree (we usually have colored lights on the tree -  red and white lights outside). He used the white lights, and I think it is one of the prettiest trees we've ever had.. And we found the tree lights right after the tree was finished - in their usual box underneath 2 Santa pillows!  :lmao

I hope lots of members will post picture of their decorations this year - looking forward to seeing them!  :bouncy

Mary and Frankie,

I am glad to see this thread revived.  Funny about the system of storing things.  I have a spiral notebook that I use for Christmas.  Each year I list everyone and the gifts I give on a page.  I also add my Christmas Card list there t another sheet to keep track of cards sent and received.  Then on a third  page I make a calendar from Thanksgiving to New Year's listing the different activities, parties, etc. that happen;  even weddings, too!! :violin  :lol  On the 4th page I list each Christmas box and what it contains.  This year I plan to get rid of, give away, decorations I have  not used in several years.  I have many ornaments I no longer use and a peach and gold color scheme I don't think I will use again;  so about half my decorations I'm no longer using.
The notebook enables me to go back to previous years and check on gifts, etc.  I also list any gifts I buy after Christmas or during the year.

Some current Christmas pictures!  Notice the big screen TV took in front of the fireplace.
(Stockings are now hung in the dining room on various draw pulls!!) :lol

Our decorations really don't change that much form year to year - someone usually adds to my Santa collection - but basically it's the same. I thought I would post a few photos from our little town's Christmas parade and fireworks display, which were both held yesterday:

Of course you have to dress properly for a Christmas parade - everybody has to wear their reindeer antlers!  :lol This is my husband and our youngest grandchild:

Kaitlyn sitting on the curb waiting for the parade to start:

When we got to the Fairgrounds for the fireworks display last night, the family parked next to us invited Kaitlyn to sit on their blanket on the ground  (it is very warm here this weekend - in the 80s) to watch the fireworks - aren't children wonderful? They had never met before, but made instant frinds (Kaitlyn is on the left)

And here are a couple of shots of the fireworks - I had never tried my night setting on my camera before;

I'd love to see your community's Holiday celebrations, too.

Hi, Alyse. It's nice to see you here. If you haven't already you should read back and see all the wonderful pictures.

Frankie, fireworks at Christmas! Amazing how different parts of the country have unique ways of celebrating.

Our town has a tree lighting ceremony with everyone singing Christmas songs. The boys were always excited to go because Santa always made an appearance and he came in a firetruck! I was thinking how much I miss the days when they were little but the truth is I froze my butt off every year.

What are your family traditions? Any favorite memories?

I'll start with a favorite memory. I always shopped for the tree with my father. We would bring it in on Christmas Eve when Dad came home from work. Then we all decorated it with Christmas music playing in the background.

Well one year it was snowing and Dad was late coming home, then he was very, very late and we all started worrying. Because of the snow Mom and her three little girls wrestled the tree into the house but Mom had no intention of putting it up or decorating until Dad came home.

Because it is a favorite memory you know Dad finally did show up and told us the story of his trip home while eating his way overheated dinner. He managed to get a subway to the George Washington Bridge but once above ground the buses were not moving so after a long wait he decided to walk across the bridge and then the two miles home. Three girls stayed up way past their bedtime!

Sometime I'll tell you all about our weird Christmas dinner that we have now and how it came to be the way it is. It really started out in a very normal way. :roflmao

It's that time of year again when several of us on the site start decorating for Christmas.  I know some have already finished.  I have yet to start.  My tree is in the den, but still in the box.

I'm looking forward to pictures of homes and yards ready for Christmas!!

Title: Re: Deck the Halls
Post by: Mary on December 02, 2008, 03:35:34 PM
Oh, I love this thread! I haven't started to decorate yet also. This weekend I'll get Norm to get out all the hundreds of boxes and I kid you not there must be over a hundred.

I put up a tree in every room in the house, halls and basement too. Last weekend I packed up all the fall and Thanksgiving decorations. The boys always end up in the basement at night playing board games so that tree has candy canes for decorations. Every year I think that they will out grow that tree but the candy canes still disappear. My nephews are 31 and 29 and my boys are 28 and 25.

Last year I bought a tall tree for the foyer and that will eventually become my colored Waterford glass ornament tree. I'll just add onto it every year but I did have a head start from previous years and bought a big box last year and seven ornaments so far this year. I'm filling it in with other ornaments that seem to fit.

The living room will have the live tree. This tree is my favorite (except when Norm bought the joke... see previous page). I have all of my parents old ornaments. Many are over 60 years old.

Every year since we have been married (30 years) I bought a box or two of new ornaments and a special one for each boy that they eventually picked for themselves. Can I tell you that a sailboat ornaments definitely not my first choice, heck it wasn't even in the running!

The dining room has the clear crystal Waterford ornaments. I bought one for me and one for my parents in 1978 and added one for each of us every year even after the passed away thinking that each boy could get a full set.

In the kitchen I usually buy a tiny (think 8") live tree. Nothing on it and place it on top of the refrigerator

In the family room I have a 6' tree that I placed in a rotating stand. This tree has my two Clay ornaments that I bought at the Christmas show in the Beacon theater in NYC. It also has Thomas Pacconi ornaments that I bought from QVC an some Christopher Radco ornaments I bought on sale.

In the laundry room I have a tree shaped wreath? that my MIL made hanging on the door. I've wanted to put a small tree with tiny doll cloths in there for years but never found anything thing wanted. I have to admit that I didn't try very hard.

In the powder room I have a small tree than is on the toilet tank top.  I also have Candy Cane towels.

As you go upstairs I have something that I made on each stair. I started when the boys were in nursery school with a sled with a Santa and pine greenery. I have updated a few but haven't touched the first one yet and it really needs it.

At the top of the stairway I have a Hummel tree. Tiny Hummel ornaments about 1 to 2 inches tall. I never "un-decorate" it. I just put it away with a big plastic bag over it. It was standing on an end table that my sister gave to me. Tim wanted the end table. Then I placed it on the trestle table that Tim made in wood shop. Again he wanted it. Last year I placed it on the other end table that Jane gave to me. Oh, Yes, Tim wants it! Tough! He isn't getting it! At least not if or until I find something suitable.

In our bed room I have a white Lenox tree with a lot of brass ornaments. Every year my mother bought a brass ornament for everyone. My sisters didn't want any of them when we were going through their house so I got them all. Heck they didn't even want the old ornaments that I have on the living room tree. Oh, but Tim does! Brian, not so much. I bought most of the Lenox ornaments at the Lenonx outlet store as well as the Waterford ornaments. The Waterford outlet closed.
 Sad face.

Tim didn't even want a tree but his house mates overruled him.

Oh I am so tired. Gotta nap.

I have yet to hang any Christmas decorations this year.  Maybe by the end of the week, they'll all be put up.  With having a 10 week old kitten who still has his claws, I'm thinking of having a half a tree this year.  That may not even work.  That little stinker can really jump, and once he's as high as he can jump, then he'll just climb his way up the rest of the tree.  Oh brother.  Now I'm wondering what to do!  Maybe we'll put the baby gate, that we haven't used in 4 years, around the tree.   :bang

Mary,
I am amazed at how you get all those trees decorated.  I'm having problems just starting on the one in the den.  It's set up with its prelit lights but no decorations yet.  You are so good at describing your trees and decorations, I can almost see them, but , wow, would we all love to see pictures!!!
By the way, my quartet once played at a big home that had about a two foot tree in the laundry room with a little rope wound around the tree like a clothes line and Barbie doll clothes were on the clothes line in different places attached with tiny clothes pins.   :bigsmile

Pepe,
I want to go to Mary's house, too!

Beth,
I have heard of people putting their tree in a play pen to protect it from pets or little children.  But if the kitten can jump.....?   We are lucky in that Shadow and Sandy totally ignore the Christmas tree.  However, if something falls on the floor from the tree, it's fair game.  :wink

Fort Worth Botanic Gardes always has some lovely trees and decorations.  Here are pictures from this year.

This tree had gingerbread dolls, ribbon candy ornaments, lollipops,  rope that looks like candy, some peppermint candy ornaments, a ribbon that has a candy print on it, and much more.

(Click on thumbnail  picture for an enlarged view. Then click on that picture for an even bigger view!  This must be a new feature.)

Deanna,

I've been waiting for you!  :bigsmile  Love all your decorations and hope you post more.  I like the little lighted trees you posted in the Garden Thread, too.

My tree is different this year in that I have snowmen and no violins on it (so far!)  I was inspired by the Botanic Garden trees with gingerbread toys on them. Pictures soon.

Deanna,

Great pictures!  Love the gingerbread house and I do notice the snow!!  We have had days in the 60's and supposed to be in the 70's tomorrow.

Pepe,

I don't like to take down my decorations, especially the tree.  We like the light it gives in the den.  It will be the last thing I take down!
