Christmas is the traditional day for opening presents, but Powder Springs teenager Jennifer Wilson got her Christmas gift on Dec. 13. All Wilson wanted for Christmas was “American Idol” singer Clay Aiken. And thanks to the Black Eyed Peas, Wilson got to meet her “Idol” during Q100’s “Frosty the Showman” concert at the Tabernacle this month.

Is Radio Getting Over the Clay & Idol Bias?
Posted Cruiser on Thursday, December 25 2003 at 8:42 PM PST
Clay Aiken’s single, “Invisible,” is actually getting played on radio stations. Does this mean DJs and programmers are finally getting over their anti-Clay/anti-Idol bias? Do they perhaps realize that an album which shipped double-platinum might just mean there are a few people out there who want to listen to this singer?

Clay Aiken's foundation helps disabled and able-bodied children play together...Like ducklings sliding on a frozen pond, about 100 children in special-edition Carolina Hurricanes jerseys trailed spiky-haired Raleigh native and pop idol Clay Aiken across the ice at the RBC Center on Sunday.

A Success Worth Celebrating!
Posted Cruiser on Sunday, December 21 2003 at 10:26 PM PST
Clay tells his fellow students and citizens of Charlotte thank you for the opportunity to walk in his graduation.

"Some opportunities present themselves just once, and no doubt, I've been blessed to experience several beyond my wildest dreams this year. High on that list -- with "American Idol," the "American Music Awards" and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, among others -- is an event every bit as exciting and memorable: my college commencement at UNC Charlotte."

Clay Aiken: The Customer is Always Right!
Posted Cruiser on Thursday, December 18 2003 at 5:48 PM PST
I don’t know about you, but I’m getting tired of the “Clay Aiken” debates. Is he good enough? Has he paid his dues? Should he be aired on radio or not? Who’s better, Clay or Ruben? Let’s face it. The poor guy is having to deal with more than his fair share of criticism which other ‘artists’ have not done or will ever experience.

The Clay Aiken Grammy Controversy
Posted Cruiser on Friday, December 12 2003 at 6:50 PM PST
Double platinum album? Yes. Grammy nomination? Not a single one. Take a look at the list of this year's Grammy nominees and you'll see something strange: Clay Aiken is not listed. Aiken was not nominated for any of the many categories. Not even Best New Artist. And that's a category in which Fountains of Wayne scored a nomination. What's odd about Aiken receiving no nominations is that the American Idol star, through strength of album and single sales, has been a major force in 2003.

Is It Claymation...?
Posted Cruiser on Thursday, December 11 2003 at 10:52 AM PST
"Clay Aiken has come a long way since his early days on American Idol. The teacher from Raleigh, N.C., saw his debut single and 'Measure of a Man' album rise to the top of the charts. American Idol, meet The Idolmaker. I am talking to you, Clay Aiken. I know you are busy appearing in tons of Christmas specials, promoting your CD (Measure of a Man) and playing concerts like the one you are headlining at Cleveland's Palace Theatre on Tuesday. You have had a remarkable 2003. Instead of being an unknown teacher in Raleigh, N.C., you are the object of idolatry from the Clay Nation."

Fans Fill Their Days With Clay...
Posted Cruiser on Monday, December 1 2003 at 6:02 AM PST
They want me. I know the Nebraska Clay fans want me because when I went to see them a few weeks ago, they wouldn't let me leave until I had the Clay Aiken "Measure of a Man" CD. And the new Teen People with the 24-year-old pop star's picture on the cover. And a Clay Aiken video,....And a bottle of candy "pills" to treat "OCD" -- Obsessive Clay Disorder...I know they want me because they show me a Clay column written by another reporter and they say: "We converted her."
