Charlotte NC Fans Protest Lack of Radio Play for Clay

A few Clay Aiken fans made a personal plea Tuesday to get the Carolina pop star more radio play.

Five fans, armed with signs and Krispy Kreme doughnuts, walked into KISS 95.1 radio Tuesday afternoon on Stuart Andrew Boulevard.

They claim artists with songs lower on the pop charts are getting more play than Aiken.

"It just doesn't make sense, not withstanding the local connection, but just the fact he's number two on TRL, he's number 23 on the pop charts,” said Vickie Ledford, an Aiken fan. “He had the number one record. He sold a million, over a million records in four weeks. That should count for something I think. That means there are a heck of a lot of people out there who want to hear his music."

After making their case to the station, the Aiken fans said they are not sure if their effort worked., but they think putting a face with the request helped.

Finally, Solitaire will be released!  And I've heard Clay say the new version/mix is awesome! (Have YOU heard it yet?  Just curious.)  
 
Imagine how Many People will buy this CD, fall in love & purchase MOAM next!  

I see Double Platinum Sales on the VERY NEAR horizon for Clay & just couldn't be happier!!!

I haven't heard it.  I do recall an interview where Clay said one of his producers (Steve Mac?) created a more updated version.  If that is the case, I hope people don't freak out if it's too 'different' from the version Clay sang on AI.

If I can find out any more information about it, don't worry, I'll post it here!

Edit - Here is what Clay had to say about Solitaire in his interview with Fred Bronson of Billboard.

Fred Bronson: One song that is not on the album is your version of Neil Sedaka's "Solitaire." That is going to disappoint your fans who were expecting it.

Clay: I know. I think the news has broken to a few of them and they've been pretty upset. Steve Mac did a great arrangement of it, a newer arrangement to it. It was really cool.

I'm so excited. Even a new different mix will still be wonderful I am sure. Like we have said, he could sing a grocery list and it would turn heads and ears and most of all, hearts. I think I am going to amazon to check out this early Christmas present (Oh Clay, you shouldn't have...  : )
And I am excited about the new appearances on tv - more meltdown opportunities!! (I better get my electric fan out for when the heat turns on) wooo hoooo!!!
