Clay's Maine Squeeze

« on: July 10, 2004, 08:07:41 AM »

I would like to introduce this new thread for "charting" purposes.  This thread will be used to keep a record of chart positions for Clay's new single(IWCY) on Radio and Records-Adult Contemporary and Hot AC charts.
 We will also be "charting" the sales positions on Amazon for Clay's books and CDs.
 We will continue to update the Sales charts as well!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to announce that ACcountryFan has graciously agreed to be the "chartkeeper"!!!  If you have any updates or find any charts worth tracking, please feel free to PM him or I.
 Thank-you, AC!!!

AMAZON RANKS
July 10, 2004:

1. TITN/BOTW: #79 {out of stock}
2. MOAM: #449
3. Solitaire/The Way: #115
4. Clay Aiken Biography: #318
5. Learning to Sing: #94
6. Arthur Audiobook: #36

i was informed that the sales ranks on Amazon change all the time and so i'm just going to post a "rank" for each day or whatever...unless there's a signifigant rise in a ranking throughout the day and then i'll post the higher peak.

at the end of July IWCY will be sent to radio stations. i think it'll be sent to AC; Hot AC; and CHR/Pop stations...i'll be tracking his chart performances each week. we haven't decided on how to present the AC and Pop chart info yet...since the single hits radio at the end of July, it will be early August before it starts to make noise at radio...by early August it should land in the R&R "Going for Adds" section. Then as the weeks go by it should hit the "Most Added" list...then, it should then hit the Top-30 or Top-40 based on which format we're dealing with.
when the Aladdin DVD hits, it'll also be tracked by me on Amazon like i did the above products.

if anyone else wants to track other on-line stores that rank their items, go ahead and do it!! if anyone keeps track of Canadian charts...put it here too.

i've never done this before and so tell me if i've forgotten something or made a mistake and i'll quickly correct it!

i'll highlight the books, CDs, etc. that have a "top-40" rank on Amazon! now the ranks for July 11th on Amazon since it's 3:22am here:

1. MOAM: #556 {down from #449}
2. Solitaire: #131 {down from #115}
3. Arthur Audiobook: #41 {down from #36}
4. Learning to Sing*: #84 {jumped up 10 spots from #94}
5. Clay Aiken Biography**: #235 {jumped up a whopping 83 spots from #318! I'll personally give it the "biggest mover" crown Laughing:}

since TITN/BOTW is out of stock and it still ranked at #79, i won't be posting it

« Reply #11 on: July 11, 2004, 12:34:21 PM »

As most of you are aware, Billboard gives a "Highest Selling Single" Award each year. Last year it was won by Clay with TITN/BOTW. Yea!!!

Here is how this year is stacking up: (this is not all of the singles--just a random sampling)

#1 Clay...... (Solitaire) 294,877
#2 Fantasia(I Believe) 224,000   I believe this is the correct top 2!!!! Wink:

#? K-Lo ...(8th World)  65,034
#? Diana D(Dreams)...65,000
#? Jessica Simpson.....25,746

I hope Solitaire has the legs to stay in first place with the pressure from Fantasia coming on fast!!!  I can not think of a MORE deserving song then Solitaire to get an award!!!!!!!

You are right Deanna.  I sure wish Clay can hang in there to win with Solitaire.  I went out and bought a few more copies this week.  Anything to help our Clay.  Fantasia will definitely catch up this week but we still have until the end of the year am I right to keep Clay going?

they're always held in December. one of the last issues of Billboard magazine during the calendar year always presents the "Best of" categories. The major categories are shown on the awards show on TV while the lesser known categories aren't hyped that much. so, like stated, there's a deadline.

July 12 Amazonas of 7:30am
1. MOAM- #271
2. Solitaire/The Way- #207
3. Arthur Audiobook- #90
4. Learning to Live- #204
5. Clay Aiken Biography- #1,682

Fantasia will definately catch up this week

=================
she may or she may not...she did drop from #1 to #6, which typically indicates a sharp decline in sales or a sharp increase in sales from the competition, but i don't know her numbers either. however, i forget which Hot 100 chart she dropped on. I'll have to look...i think she dropped from #1 to #6 on the Hot 100 because Usher returned to #1. I think she's still #1 on Hot 100 Sales while Clay is #6.
