All of the Songs in the James Taylor Tribute happen to be on one of  James Taylor's CDs called The Best of James Taylor.  Also has Carolina In My Mind!

I have liked his songs, but never owned one of his albums.   I went out and bought this one today!

Fool
writers unknown

Somewhere out there I know
That your waiting for me
I'm still believin
Dreamin that one day you'll be

Everybody tells me
I've still got so much to learn
They don't seem to understand

It's a fool that falls in love
It still gets lonely
Dreams are not enough
Or so they tell me

Someday, someway, somehow
You will find your way to me
Then you will see
That fool is me Oh no baby

Every moment I live without you
Breaks my heart
There's no one better
So why must we still be apart

No one ever told me you'd be the
Last one to learn
Gotta make you understand

It's a fool that falls in love
It still gets lonely
Dreams are never enough
Or so they tell me
Someday, someway, somehow
You will find your way to me

I believe that love
Plays a game with my heart
And there's nothing I can do
Oh no no no

But I can feel it too

It's a fool that falls in love
It still gets lonely
Dreams are never enough
Or so they tell me
Someday, someway, somehow

You will find your way to me
And you will see
That fool is me

It was added at the concert before Musikfest so only performed twice - NH and PA so far.

Original is by George Michael and Arethra Franklin.

I Knew You Were Waiting For Me
by George Michael

(Aretha)
Like a warrior that fights
And win the battle
I know the taste of victory

Though I went through some nights
Consumed by the shadows
Ans was crippled emotionally

(George)
Somehow I made it through the heartache, yes I did
I escaped
I found my way out of the darkness, kept my faith
Kept my faith

(Chorus)
And the river was deep I didn't falter
When the mountain was high
I still believed
When the valley was low
It didn't stop me
I knew you were waiting
I knew you were waiting for me

(Aretha)
With an endless desire
I kept on searching
Sure in time our eyes would meet

And like the bridge is on fire
The hurt is over
One touch and you set me free

(George)
I don't regret a single moment, no I don't
Looking back, when I think of all those disappointments
I just laugh, I just laugh

(Chorus)

So we were drawn together through destiny
I know this love we share was meant to be

I knew you were waiting
I knew you were waiting
I knew you were waiting for me

Does anyone know- is Clay pretty well sticking to the set that Pamela posted orginally? It sounds like he is mixing it up a little -depending on where he is performing. I read somewhere that he performed "Without You" at one performance. I hope that he does at the IL State Fair, as that is one of my favorite songs- the concert version that is. I love the version on Kim Locke's CD, but not as well as the concert version.  This just goes to show the versatility of Clay- he has a large repetoire that he can pull from and not sing the very same set every single night. It also says a lot for his backup singers and band.

Looking forward to the 13th when I get to see Clay a fourth time! My friends are teasing me that I am stalking the man. My husband just laughs and says if you are going to see Clay, I am going to the fair for the car races. Hmmm.....I may want to see those too! LOL

Char, I believe he sang Without You with Quiana when the tour was in Charleston SC because that was Quiana's hometown.  He has a short set he is doing at the State Fairs, it starts with the Disney video.  He has added Still the One and the new song,  I Knew You Would Wait.

I need to add those to the list!

Have fun at your concert!

Thanks for the info Pamela :) Even though the concert will be shorter, I am sure I will still enjoy it! I am hanging in there for that St. Charles, MO date still also :)

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the set list for the state fairs. If not that's ok too.

If he does Solitare last as his encore, I will have won the bet. If you listen to the song, it's just fitting that it would be his closing song.
See you all at the Ohio state Fair !!!

Pamela--thanks so much for the set list and the song lyrics!  It's just wonderful to have them--have been wanting them for a long time!  I'm counting the days until the 27th in Milwaukee!

"Without You" (on Kim Locke's cd, One Love, written by Samantha Cole, David Foster, and Richard Marx; performed by Clay and Kim)

Clay has used this song for the song contest at most concerts.  :D

Quote
Never ever thought to cry
When I heard you say goodbye
Never said where you were going
There's no laughter in the air
Only silence everywhere
And so much left unspoken
Since you've been gone
I haven't been the same
I wish that I could see
Who's to blame

Without you. where do I belong?
Without you, how can I go on?
No love but yours will ever do
Tell me how am I supposed to live
my life without you?

Was I lost in you and me
To the point I couldn't see
That what we had was dying
Now it's all that I can do
To see photographs of you
And stop myself from cryin
I should learn to live without your
love
Got so many memories, but it's not
enough

Without you. where do I belong?
Without you, how can I go on?
No love but yours will ever do
Tell me how am I supposed to live
my life without you?

I feel helpless and oh so all alone
Like I've never felt before
You made me feel alive
But I don't remember what it's like
anymore

"Still the One" by: Orleans (?)

We've been together since way back when,
and sometimes I never want to see you again
But I want you to know, after all these years
That you're still the one I want whispering in my ears.
You're still the one I like to talk to in bed, still the one that turns
my head
We're still having fun, and you're still the one

Well I look at your face everyday, and I never seen it til it went
away
When winter came, I just wanted to go,
Back to a desert, how I yearned for the snow
You're still the one that makes me laugh, still the one that's
my better half
We're still having fun, and you're still the one
You're still the one that makes me strong, still the one I wanna
take along
We're still having fun, and you're still the one

You're still the one that I love to touch, still the one, and I can't
get enough
We're still having fun, and you're still the one
You're still the one who can scratch my itch, still the one, and
I wouldn't switch
We're still having fun, and you're still the one
You're still the one that makes me shout, still the one that I
dream about
We're still having fun, and you're still the one
We're still having fun, and you're still the one

Chain of Fools
Aretha Franklin

Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chai-ai-ai-ai yeah
Chain of fools
For five long years
I thought you were my man
But I found out
I'm just a link in your chain
You got me where you want me
"got me where you want me"
I ain't nothin but your fool
You treated me mean
Oh babe you treated me cruel
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain of fools
Now every chain
Has got a weak link
I might be weak child
Oh but I'll give you strength
OOh OOh
You told me to leave you alone
My father said, come on home
My doctor said, take it easy
But your lovin' is much too strong
I'm added to your
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chaine chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chai-ai-ai-ai yeah
chain of fools
One of these mornings
That chain is goin'a break
But up until the-hen
I'm goin'a take all I can take
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chai-ai-ai-ai yeah
Chain of fools
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chain
Chain chain chai-ai-ai-ai yeah
Chain of fools
Chain chain chain
