Clay's Fiddlin' Poet

« Reply #140 on: April 25, 2005, 11:15:01 AM »

Would you believe I have had the book for months, and only picked it up to read Thursday evening, and finished it in a couple of hours!

I thought it was an easy read.  And it did sound like Clay talking to us.  He gave us the good and the bad in his life and in a  matter of fact way that did not want sympathy.

"This is the way my life was and I'm over it,"  seems to be his message.

I do feel badly that his father and step-father were never real fathers to him.  I think that Ray was especially mean-spirited in how he treated Clay and made him feel an outcast in the family.

I wish Faye had stood up for Clay more to his step-father.

I would think  some family members might not be happy with the book, but  I have the feeling Clay told it like it was, or how he remembered it.

All in all, an interesting book.

Just my thoughts,
Prissy

This is one of my favorite books. Such a wonderful guy. It makes me proud of him to see everything he went through.

I can't find the audio version anyhere. That's a pity. I was looking forward to hearing his lovely voice. They just sell the book. I might buy it. I'm not sure yet. I'll wait till I get the album. Then I'll make my decision. Although I might buy the Christmas CD first. The DVD too I can't find anywhere (it's on Amazon, but I'm not a member). :(

Have you checked with Barnes and Noble or Borders Books?  I got mine from Borders, but that was quite a while ago.

Rayline.. where do you live?   The problem is if you get a website link, you'll still need a credit card to make the purchase.

I'm from the Netherlands. :( If I were American, I could get the audio version easily. And the DVD. But being European complicates things a bit.

Actually the Borders website comes up under Amazon.  This is the Barnes and Noble link http://barnesandnobel.com/
