There a Clay article in the March 6th issue of EW on pg.17
It is about Clay confirming that he has parted ways with label RCA....
Surprisingly a good article, not bad at all...

Thanks, for the information, Marlene
I spoke to Shirl this evening. Clay is in the March 9, 2009 issue of US Weekly - a small article about Clay leaving RCA, and a small photo (Shirl told me which page, but I forgot - somewhere in the 70s). Shirl said it was a good article, even though it was small - and the article made it clear that Clay left RCA.
I would not be surprised if this made all of the March 9 weekly magazines.

Newsweek - March 16, 2009 - CLAY!
Pages 60-61 "Newsmakers" - Kelly Clarkson interview "Do Not Ask Kelly Clarkson to Baby-Sit Your Children". The Clay part of the interview:
Quote
Q: Still Friends with Clay Aiken? A: Yeah.
Q: Do you ever baby-sit for him? A: Oh, My God. Frist of all, Clay would know better than to have me baby-sit his child.

Kessler counts at least one Idol spawn-Clay Aiken-as a patient and at times he has ministered to the entire Broadway casts of such shows as Wicked and Hairspray.

People Magazine has put out another special edition about celebrity transformations. Clay is one of the celebrities highlighted in the "Music" section. Clay's article and photos are on Pages 78 and 79. There is a photo of him as a baby, one from the Atlanta audition, and several others - from the beginning of his career to the present (or at least up until the age of 29).
Clay's former record label might not have respect for him as an artist, but evidently People Magazine does. The "Music" section has people such as Beyonce, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, etc. Musically, Clay is in pretty good company!
Note - the price of the People special magazines has gone up - they once cost $10 - this one had a price of $12!

Hi!
Frankie
,
about the new People special edition.
I'd love to have that Clay article, but I can't imagine spending $12 for it.
The US Weekly - 3/9/09 - article that Shirl saw is on pg.78 in "The Record".

Catching up on a few magazines this morning.
TV Guide - 5/4-5/10/09 -
YES CLAY
*small crappy mention, no picture*
On pg.77 the editors of TV Guide were asked; "Who's your favorite American Idol contestant?" The Articles Editor, Bruce Fretts said:
Quote
"Ruben Studdard. When he beat
Clay Aiken
, I was never more proud to be an American."
TV Guide - 5/11-5/17/09 - NO CLAY
US Weekly - 5/4/09 - NO CLAY
US Weekly - 5/11/09 - NO CLAY
US Weekly - 5/18/09 -
YES CLAY
*small 30 Rock mention, no picture*
pg.84 in "On this week finale edition!"
Quote
30 Rock 5/14 "This season-ender rocks, thanks to self-spoofing stints by Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello, Mary J. Blige, Adam Levine and
Clay Aiken
, all of whom perform in a wacky telethon"
Can't wait!
(There's also a full-page article on the loss of David Cook's brother Adam on pg.66, if anyone's interested. Later on I'll type it out and post in David's thread, unless someone beats me to it.
)

TV Guide - Double Issue - 5/18-5/31/09 NO CLAY
US Weekly - 5/25/09 - NO CLAY
People - 5/18/09 - NO CLAY
People - 5/25/09 - NO CLAY
People - 6/1/09 - NO CLAY
And a few random mentions in my local newspapers:
Chicago Tribune - 5/21/09
In an article about Kris Allen winning Idol there was this mention:
Quote
Chris Daughtry,
Clay Aiken
and Jennifer Hudson, all of whom failed to take home the crown, are proof that, when it comes to "Idol" winning isn't everything.
He was also mentioned in an article called: "How 'American Idol' has invigorated the dialogue on gay issues" about Adam Lambert:
Quote
That national conversation, (equality issues) has come a long way in the six years since singer
Clay Aiken
was dogged by rumors about his sexuality when he was an "Idol" finalist (and finished second). Last September, Aiken, 30, came out in a People magazine cover story, and last week he appeared in the highly rated season finale of NBC's 30 Rock" after a stint in the Broadway production of "Spamalot," four albums, several national tours and a best-selling book.
And from the Chicago Sun-Times
- 5/23/09
Quote
Aiken takes pokes at "Idol,' Lambert
Clay Aiken is no fan of Adam Lambert. The "American Idol" also-ran has blasted this season's runner-up on his Web site, mocking Lambert's rendition of "Ring of Fire" as "contrived," "awful" and "slightly frightening."
According to Aiken, he tunes into the show about once a season - and this year, he caught Lambert's take on Johnny Cash and thought his ears would bleed. But wait--there's more. Aiken aims his vitriol on "Idol" itself. He thinks the series showed bias for Lambert over eventual champ Kris Allen and has focused on "slick productions and polished contestants" rather than raw talent.
Aiken lost out to Ruben Studdard in 2003. He's since released several albums, appeared on Broadway and publicly confirmed he's gay.
And
again
the next day: 5/24/09
Quote
Aiken aches after blasting Lambert
New York--Clay Aiken says blood didn't truly pour forth from his ears when he heard runner-up Adam Lambert sing "Ring of Fire"-and hey, he's sorry for his "colorful choice of words".
The former "Idol" contestant writes in a blog on his Web site that "I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard." He also says he didn't mean it as "a 'slam' on Adam as a person."
He had blasted Lambert's take on the Johnny Cash tune as "contrived" and "slightly frightening." Aiken says he hopes Lambert can forgive him-but adds Lambert probably doesn't care what he said

It's been over 7 months since I noticed Clay in any magazine, but it seems that even when he chooses to disappear for months at a time a magazine that seems to dislike everything he does "has" to mention him for no apparent reason:
Entertainment Weekly 12/18/09
Page 75 - "TV - What To Watch"
Monday - 12/14/09 8-9 p.m. (Eastern Time)
Quote
Jennifer Hudson: "I'll Be Home For Christmas - ABC - The Oscar winner sings "Silent Night" and "Let It Snow" as Clay Aiken sits at home mumbling "I should've had an ABC special"
Don't know if Clay is at home, or if he knows that Jennifer's Christmas special is tonight, but, personally, I think ABC or any other network would have been wise to give Clay a Christmas Special - no one else on any of this years's shows will have half the voice!
