From WRAL-TV in Raleigh:

Fairgoers Asked To Be On Lookout For Fake Clay Tickets

POSTED: 4:09 pm EDT June 8, 2004

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The state Agriculture Department is warning fairgoers to be on the lookout for fake tickets to the State Fair, particularly tickets for a performance by hometown pop sensation Clay Aiken.

State Agriculture Commissioner Britt Cobb said his office has received numerous reports that people are already trying to sell tickets to the Oct. 18 concert.

The offers are not legitimate because the tickets have not even been printed yet.

Thanks for the info, I hope to attend this show. What a shame. I guess people will do anything for a buck.

hahahahha!!! This craked me up!

I can just picture someone trying to sell tickets...

Guy: I swear they're real! I just got them from the county fair manager this morning!

Me: Really? Wow, you're good. How did you manage to get them before they've been printed?

 Laughing:

And thank you Clayton Clayniac for bringing that info!!

there's a bigger sample of this ticket fake on the ANN for today! for a show in October, and tickets come up for sale in June!? Someone had better get a light-bulb put over their head and ask themselves: "is this for real??". if a venue seats tens of thousands of people like during his tour with Kelly, tickets typically go on sale months in advance. but a 6,000 seat venue like the October concert, does not merit much advance sales...common sense...

N.C. State Fair announces 2004 entertainment lineup
RALEIGH - Dorton Arena will host a hot lineup of entertainment at the 2004 State Fair with an exciting mix of top newcomers and proven favorites.

The State Fair's entertainment lineup kicks off Friday, Oct. 15, with rising country star Josh Turner. On Saturday, Oct. 16, Dorton Arena will host the first-ever State Fair Cheer & Dance Championship. "Eighth World Wonder" vocalist Kimberly Locke will perform Sunday, Oct. 17, and hometown pop sensation Clay Aiken will entertain loyal fans on Monday, Oct. 18.

Grand Ole Opry's Legends Fest performers Bill Anderson, Lynn Anderson, Bill Conlee and T.G. Shepard, with special guest host George "Goober" Lindsey, bring back their classic country sounds for two performances on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 3 and 7:30 p.m.

Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley and Bluegrass Entertainer of the Year Rhonda Vincent will perform along with the Triangle's own Grasscats on Wednesday, Oct. 20. Motown favorites the Four Tops will bring their classic sounds to the stage on Thursday, Oct. 21, and contemporary Christian group MercyMe will sing their crossover hit "I Can Only Imagine" along with many others on Friday, Oct. 22.

Gary Allan, one of Nashville's best kept secrets, takes the stage Saturday, Oct. 23, and pop country super group Lonestar wraps up 10 great days of entertainment on Sunday, Oct. 24.

"We are excited about our entertainment lineup for the 2004 State Fair," said Agriculture Commissioner Britt Cobb. "We've booked several bigger-name acts for Dorton Arena, and we hope fair visitors will enjoy this dynamic lineup."

Fairgoers can purchase reserved tickets online at www.ncstatefair.org beginning Friday, Sept. 3, at noon. All concert tickets are $5 with the exception of Lonestar, which will be $10, and Clay Aiken, which are $15. Reserved concert tickets will also be on sale at the Dorton Arena ticket booth during the 2004 State Fair unless the show sells out beforehand. Because only 6,000 seats are available, a limit of four tickets per fairgoer will be offered for the Clay Aiken concert. Fair admission will be required for all shows and there will be no free seating available. Concert tickets will only be available online before the Fair starts.

All shows start at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Doors open an hour before each show.
