CLAY AIRPLAY UPDATE

Here is an updated listing of stations playing Clay.  Note that many stations are still playing Invisible!  If your local station is listed, please support them for playing Clay's music by becoming a loyal listener; then email them and tell them so.  If your local AC station is not listed, call or email and ask them to play Solitaire.  If you receive a negative response, express your disappointment, but don't badger them.  It serves no good purpose to do so.  Your call, even if it yields no airplay results, does let them know we are still here and still supporting Clay.

Besides, Solitaire has now charted on Radio & Records' AC chart.  Many AC stations watch this chart and consider it before adding a song to their playlist.  Hopefully more stations will now add Solitaire because it's on the chart!

I live in the Atlanta area.  It seem that in such a cosmopolitan and trendy
area that there would at least be one station that plays Clay music.

I know the stations have to be getting tons of requests.  I just don't understand it at all!

One of the main top 40 stations played "Invisable" constantly - al least
4 or 5 times a day until "The Way" came out.  Then they played both
very often for about three weeks and abruptly quit playing any Clay songs
at all.  I have called to request, only upon deaf ears.  I have e-mailed but
to no avail.  I have since started requesting occasionaly on one of the
more "with it" AC stations.  I have also e-mailed them.  NOTHING!!!

What else can we do???  This is very frustrating!!!

all we can do is support Clay and watch the AC stations that are actually playing "Solitaire" since that airplay is helping it move up the R&R AC chart and the more it climbs in airplay the more AC radio can't "ignore" it. i can't imagine that his performance on Leno wouldn't have caused a spike in the requests and airplay? hopefully next week's R&R numbers will reflect an increase in airplay on that chart...

 finally, WRRM is playing "Solitaire"! right now they're playing Kelly Clarkson's "Moment Like This". i haven't heard "Solitaire" and that brings me to this theory:

when the playlists come out and we see "Solitaire" being played often on the stations that are playing it, one has to ask about peak and off-peak hours. I have not heard the song on WRRM but yet the up-dated playlists has the station playing it 7 times. now, what i think is happening is that the song is being played during off-peak hours on most of the AC stations. During the over-night hours many, many stations in all formats play songs i've never heard during the daytime. the same is true for the things i hear during the day. the Top-40 station plays Usher's "Burn" song at night but "Yeah" is still over-played during the day! "Toxic" is still over-played in the daytime but at night it's never heard.

on the AC format, tons and tons of Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, and Billy Joel are heard at night...but in the daytime i'm bombarded with Josh Groban, Luther Vandross, and Michael McDonald...if you look at the AC chart this week Lionel had a big opening week!

So, his big airplay at night is helping him. I think, at least in Ohio, Clay is being shoved to the over-night off-peak hours where the public-at-large won't hear him and in theory won't call and request him...

so, those 6 AC stations who produce their own Top-30 request countdowns, are saying he's not getting enough requests.

this Laughing: brings up the question: "how much is too much or not enough?". are the people who can hear those stations suppose to request the song or not? some might be afraid to...judging from the comments from some on how the DJs have behaved on and off the air.

that's why it's important that the annoyed person ignores the DJs comments and continues requesting and not letting the purposely[/u] argumentative commentary from a DJ get to them and distract them from the goal of hearing Clay on the radio.

i finally heard solitaire on the radio here in el paso, tx on a ac station  :D . actually, since monday i have heard it 3 times all during the day. this station 99.9fm has always played invisible and the morning female dj always states nice things about clay when i call in to request. also, they have mentioned little stories related to clay at various times including talking about his performance on snl stating they thought he did a great job. i was at work the first time i heard solitaire. i had to contain my excitement but what was really neat is there was a couple of co-workers w/me who just couldn't believe how great he sounded they both said something like he does have a great voice. i was so happy to hear the song. yeah clay.    8)

i'm glad you're hearing "Solitaire". i just came back from the R&R web-page. The song is #25 AC for the second week. It still has it's bullet...it's nearing 400 airplays so far.

The station I listen to in Worcester, Ma WSRS (96.1) played Solitaire twice today, once in the morning, around 9ish and once again a little after 5:00.  So maybe this is a sign of things to come.  I hope everyone reading this has the same opportunity to hear Solitaire on their radio station.
When I catch any of Clay's tunes on the radio, I feel like I won a prize.

Hi everyone, Well in my town we have two rap/hip-hop stations and two country stations and one old station. so I get Clay from a CD. In fact the stations around here has never played Kelly, Ruban or Clay.  I still on my way to class play Kellys Cd and I personally think if you listen to her voice it is flawless. I have yet to see the video for Invisible, I am not a MTV fan I have seen Rubans video on BET whyle flipping the channels. Who knows, but what a shame.

i've only seen 20 seconds of "Invisible" at the Wal*Mart music monitor...i haven't seen the whole thing either.

there is no radio station in my town. i can get all the FM stations in the central Ohio area and southwest Ohio area...i can't pick up any station in the deep south of Ohio. in other words, i can hear the major FM stations in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus: WRRM {AC}, WUBE {Country}, WGRR {oldies}, WYGY {Country}, WMMX {pop/AC}, WBNS {Hot AC}, WCOL {Country}, WSNY {AC}, WLQT {AC}, WNCI {top-40}, WHOK {classic country-my favorite!!}, and WHKO {Country}.

There are now 33 stations playing Solitaire (8 more than last week), four stations playing This is the Night and one station playing The Way.

Solitaire is now #25 on the Radio and Records AC chart

Now that we have a fair number of stations playing Solitire, it is now important that we encourage them to increase spins. An increase in spins will cause Solitaire to rise in the chart which will then encourage other stations to add it to their playlist. Please call your station to request Solitaire and if you hear them play Solitaire, call or email to let them know how much you appreciate hearing it.

There are eight stations where Solitaire has dropped off their top 30 list. Please, if you live in the area, REQUEST! Thanks.

Thank you Pam for that info.  I do not see one radio station here in Connecticut playing any of Clay's songs.  That stinks.  I think I will have to move.  That is o.k.  I will just play my CD and the heck with them.  Linda and I have tried so many times and they are just don't care.  It is their loss.

Is the tide turning?  WLTW in New York has added Solitaire to their playlist.  This is one of the largest stations in the country, and they are owned by Clear Channel.

WLTW FM

aaaaand KOST in LA has also added Solitaire to their playlist.  Another major station in a major market.  And they are also owned by CC.  Whattup?!?  I don't know, but It's all good!

these are AC or Top-40? i'd imagine they're AC... "Solitaire" doesn't actually sound like a top-40 song.

i'm baffled but bursting with grandiose glorified glee.

the tide must be turning...
