Idol Update: Kimberley, Clay, and More

American Idol 2 third-place finisher Kimberley Locke is about to release her first single on Curb Records. The single, entitled “8th World Wonder” was previewed Friday as part of Kim’s interview on Nashville radio station 107.5. The song is a complete departure from what we have come to expect from Kimberley. It is certainly not R&B and borders on being country-pop.....The cut that was previewed Friday morning is not the finished product and hopefully it will improve with some polishing. Hopefully. The song was up on one of the Kimberley Locke websites (http://www.kimberleylocke.us/) over the weekend.........

During the interview, Kim discussed her new housemate, Clay Aiken, and revealed that before bed he eats ice cream and drinks milk! However, their arrangement appears to be platonic and the house is large enough so that each of them has their own “space.” They have both been busy working and haven’t spent much time in the house since moving in earlier in the month............

........Meanwhile, Clay’s first full-length CD, Measure of a Man, is scheduled for release on October 14. Promotional copies of his second single, “Invisible,” are being released to radio stations but a few copies have already shown up on eBay. One copy sold for $407.43! To promote this CD, Clay will be appearing on all the talk shows in mid-October, including Primetime (ABC, October 9), The Tonight Show (NBC, October 13), TRL (MTV, October 14), Good Morning America (ABC, October 15), and The View (ABC, October 17). He is also scheduled to perform on the American Music Awards (ABC, November 16) and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (NBC, November 27).......

Meanwhile, Ruben Studdard is working on his upcoming CD and will be appearing at the Alabama A&M Alumni Association’s Homecoming on Friday, singing “Flying Without Wings” with his band, Just a Few Cats. His CD, Soulful, is currently scheduled to be released on November 11.

And the American Idol Christmas CD is currently scheduled to drop on October 14, the same day as Clay’s album release. Of course, all of this is subject to change as we have seen with the flip-flopping of release dates between Ruben and Clay.
