A "Perfect Day" is every day I listen to Clay!!

Y
Fitting that Simon's last year on Idol is a dud, then he can really pimp X Factor, pitting it against Idol.

A very good point, Sharon.   He also seems to be more likeable this year too, same reason I'll bet.  Or maybe it's because he's in love??? kiss attack  Saw a very cute interview of him on Jay Leno's show, and his fiance came out for a minute.  Beautiful girl!

Becky, glad your post came through!   I think you are at the lake cottage right now, doing taxes, am I right?  I have great respect for anyone who does their own taxes!!! Clapping

Hi everyone - Shirley - I totally agree with you. This season is just so-so and I can't get enthused about it. They've had some good years, but this isn't one of them.

How are you feeling? I'll bet your ribs are still hurting.

Mary - how is your throat. Hope it's better.

Sharon - good luck on your trip.

Good afternoon ladies,

Got a really late start today so am just checking in.

Sharon, I assumeyou are already gone - I hope you have a terrific time and am certain you will. Haven't been to Niagara Falls for more years than I can remember but was awed by its magnificance. Enjoy - at least you should have a couple of good weather days.

I really liked four of the guys last night - and none of those four was Michael. I'm with you, Karen - I was bored and was completely dumbstruck when they all raved about him - what's with that? Shades of Ruben indeed. Can't wait to see who goes tonight. I think they all have talent. I really liked Tim Urban last night (Hallelujah - but I just love that song anyway). Am really hoping he makes it.

Kim (and other Twilight lovers - first clip from Eclipse coming out on June 30th - am so excited. Kristen looks much better than she did in the first two movies and Jake is just  Flame Flame Flame. Edward is no slouch either, come to think of it. Am anxious for the New Moon DVD to be released. I think I will take it to the hospital with me - should help pass time very pleasantly.

Peggy, hope the computer problem isn't too bad. I'm so blessed to have my son to take care of those problems for me - whew!

Later!

Was over at the shop for a while but came home early. It seems I'm getting a cold. My throat is sore and I have a runny nose , so I think I'll just take it easy and have a cup of tea with honey. Hope that helps.

Sse you all tomorrow.

Peggy, you are a riot, too.  lmao lmao lmao  Glad your computer is fixed. Maybe you're onto something and Kim's computer infection is spreading. My desktop at home is NOT fixed yet. It has all my Quicken and Turbo Tax on it and it's going to be days before a new disk arrives. I wasn't feuding with Norton, I was frustrated. And still am. Brenda, you're lucky Chris is there when you need him.  Wink  Yes, Karen, I was at the cottage, but back at Dad's now.

Watched Idol tonight for the first time this year. Tried to remember all that you've been talking about, but it didn't work. It was fun to see Scott and Matt!!! I liked Todrick. Is that bad?

Evelyn, hope you feel better tomorrow!!! Was your weather as beautiful as ours today? 65 degrees and sunny. Now it is pouring outside.

Next week is going to be interesting. I get to have Peyton for the day on Monday. Depending on how Dad is doing, I may bring her here for the day. Tuesday, Madisen is in a school play and we're going to go. Wednesday, their dad is being promoted and it will be an official ceremony and we are all going, including Dad. Haven't gotten results of his MRI yet.

Sure wish we were all in Raleigh about now................................................

Kim - Dave barely made it out of Florida last night.  His flight was supposed to arrive in Detroit at 8:40 pm and he didn't arrive until 11 pm.

I don't really know a whole lot about Dave's Nonna.  His sisters would know.  Dave knows nothing! pfft! Men! If you ask my brother about my Grandma's family, he has no clue, but I know everyone!  nixweiss  Laughing

Tornadoes in Florida??
Kim, you guys shouldn't have to worry about those; you got enough on your plate with hurricanes!!

My dad was born in Chavies, KY, about 80 miles south of where that picture was taken (I assume they lived there).  His dad was born around 1894.  I wonder if your grandpa could've been a cousin?  Grandpa only had one brother, Will.

Here is the picture of your granny and grandpa; I saved your Facebook picture to photobucket.

She's so pretty!

And here are a few screencaps from that interview!  Reminds me of the hairstyle he had for a TV Guide once.

Thank You Karen!!!

 Clapping Clapping Clapping

Isn't that a great photo??!! It even "looks" Kentucky, don't it!??
This we figure must've been taken in the 1950's. They bought the Packard brand new. Was the first car ma & her brother ever drove!

They coulda been cousins or something Karen....I think grandpa was born probably around the same...1890's. Gramma was born in 1914, and she was probably 20 some years younger than him.
Ma thinks her dad was born in Concord...not sure though. We can easily trace grandma's side because it was so HUGE but grandpa's side is harder to find relatives.

Your welcome, Kim!
That picture, the hat he's wearing, reminds me a lot of my grandpa!  Wish I had a picture to post of grandma and him, but my mom & dad have them all over in Dayton.
I think there's one of him and his new '56 Buick.  I drove that car to work when I was a senior! icon_eek  That thing was HUGE!

Probably never know if we are 5th cousins twice-removed or whatever, Kim! Laughing  I think too many of our people who know things are gone now.  Be nice to have a family tree done.

Is the weather calming down now?
And are you back to work yet?

Beth, so glad Dave got home safely!  I hate flying through storms!

********IDOL SPOILER**************

I know a few people here are disappointed in Idol last night.  I know I am.
All my faves got through except for Alex; and I REALLY wanted him to make it through!
Why couldn't they have TOP 13 again like last year????? nixweiss
I downloaded all three of his performances, whereas I didn't want ANY from Michael Lynche, Andrew Garcia, Tim Urban (I did like this week's performance tho), and ESPECIALLY Aaron Kelly.

BOO.

Well at least I've still got a couple of guys I like, and a few girls.

PEGGY - I hope so, too.  We're on our second full day of rain . .  with more to follow.   Thick and dangerous FOG!

KAREN - I feel the same about last night's Idol as you do.  I think BRENDA also said that she is not a fan of "big Mike".  Me, neither.  hypnotic

KIM - Can't see the pictures you guys are talking about . . . they are "blocked" on my work computer.  I'll peek at them when I get home.  Smile

PHILLY - Thanks for breakfast, the sugar boost . . . and the Clay link!  Clapping

BETH - Glad Dave made it home.  Did fog delay the flight??

BARB,  wave and a  Huggles!!!  Be careful in that fog.  I think fog is the scariest and most dangerous thing there is.  When we lived in Grosse Ile raising the kids, I remember driving at night or attempting to, going back and forth to the  youth center and the fog so thick along the river road I must have been crazy!!!!

KAREN,   yep Big Mike doesn't seem like he should even be there.  Seems like he is to much older than the others.  I think they have the show wrong this year, this maybe the end of it!!

KIM, what a beautiful woman grannie was!  I also was born in Kentucky.  Providence, KY!!!!  Near Madisonville, KY.  I remember those trips that my dad and I used to take together.  We would stop at the old grocery stores where they had the soda crackers in the big barrels and they would cut off chunks of the best bologna and some of those crackers and that was the best thing to eat in the world.  I can taste them now.  What wonderful memories.

MARY, hope you are feeling better today.  If  you improve every day that would be wonderful.

BRENDA, how is your lungs?  Are you going to be fit enough for your surgery??????
