Kris Allen makes Idol airplay Top 10, Carrie Underwood tops country chart

CAPTION Kris Allen takes a big jump airplay jump this week, with Live Like We're Dying getting a 27 percent increase in spins according to Mediabase (1,637-2,071). That's enough to get Kris into the top 40 of the Top 40 format, as well as Hot AC. It also puts in the top 10 of our American Idol airplay chart for the first time.

Kelly Clarkson remains at No. 1 on the Idol airplay chart, with more than 13,000 spins of Already Gone, but our No. 2 track, Carrie Underwood's Cowboy Casanova, holds the top spot on the USA TODAY Country chart. All 13 songs from Play On made the Idol top 100 this week, with the title track getting the most spins (71) of the album cuts.

Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment moves to No. 50 in his first full week of airplay. Adam's currently at No. 55 on the Hot AC chart and No. 71 at Top 40.

Daughtry's Life After You begins to show some life, leaping 29 spots on the Idol airplay chart (83-52), while Allison Iraheta's Friday I'll Be Over U moves up 14 (78-64).

Christmas tunes, which first showed up last week, continue to dot the Idol chart, led by Carrie's's Do You Hear What I Hear. Kelly, Kimberley Locke and Mandisa also have songs in our Top 100 -- and, to throw a bone to Clay Aiken fans, I've expanded the chart to 101 spots this week to include Clay's version of The First Noel, which saw 22 spins.

Update: An earlier version of this post gave the wrong chart position for Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment. It has been corrected.
