PRISSY, thanks so much for the great pictures.  The table settings look so pretty and the food wonderful.   Your plate isn't even full.  You are eating like a little mouse!!  Thank heavens I am not there to fix your plate for you!!!!!!!!!!   Laughing bigsmile

LOLITA, yep it is a blessing in a way to get my appetite back and in another way not so much.   Laughing  Good time for all family to talk to MIL about maybe saving her money while she is there during Christmas.  I always thought it odd people would go to Las Vegas to gamble but would not drive the short distance thru Boulder City to see Hoover Dam, to me one of the wonderful things of the world, just spectacular.

FRANKIE, sure glad you like to drive!!!  Have a good shopping trip and a safe trip home.   Son is here so off I go, enjoy your day!!

GOOD AFTERNOON TO EVERYONE HERE AT THE OCD!

Twas  20 nights before Christmas Day

When all through land, we heard: "When do we hear from you ,Clay?"

Are you working on a tour, CD or perhaps a new broadway play?

Never fear, the best is yet to come your way.

Good tidings to all , Merry Christmas to you.

Knowing that he promised in 2010 we will be surprised, makes our dreams come true.

Sharon----Yes, I'm so fortunate  to have been able to know Prissy for the past 33 years.  She was the music teacher when I was hired on as the new art  teacher.  I just marched into her room, introduced myself and the rest has been a lasting friendship. Huggles

Lolita---my Great grandparents(Mom's side) were from Norway.  My grandmother was first generation Norwegian/American.  My mother also spoke perfect Norwegian growing up but unfortunately I can't.  I was able to go to Norway in 1989 too for 3 weeks.  The treats are great if you like doughnuts.  You dip the batter into an oiled, iron rosette mold, dip that into the hot oil (we us a Fry Daddy machine) and as they cook, they slip off the mold and float in the cooking oil.  I then ladle  them out to cool and sprinkle powder sugar on them. They are a golden, crispy, not sweet treat. The hard part is the length of time it takes to make them.  Also, if the iron mold gets too much or too less oil and or batter on it, they will either stick to the mold or come off to early in the frier.  It will take at least a couple of hours to make one "good" batch of less then 20.

Good Afternoon!

I am back from the brunch and it was great fun and the food fabulous!  I bid on a few things, but only won two:  a cake server that looks like a high heel shoe  Laughing  and a cute elf door knob hanger.  I really wanted this funny Santa hat that bobbed back and forth while it played music, but this other lady kept bidding after me every time I wrote down a bid, so I just let her go ahead and have it.     She really wanted it!

The brunch included bacon, sausage, Eggs Benedict with Holllandaise sauce, French toast with strawberry topping, breakfast potatoes, croissants with butter and jams, mixed fruit, coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, and Mimosas, which I don't drink, but maybe I should try them some times!   Wink

At the end of the brunch, the gal I rode with needed to stay to help close up things.  I noticed that the caterers brought out the leftover food, and several of us were given by them Styrofoam carry out boxes to take food with us.  I took enough food to make a very nice brunch for Skip, so he enjoyed the same food the AAUW ladies did!!  bigsmile

Now, I must iron the "you know whats," and put everything on the dining room table that will go with me to the Women's Gala tomorrow.

Lolita,
I did have dessert at the JOY luncheon.  I had blueberry pie and a mini cherry cheesecake.  I just didn't take a picture of my dessert plate.  I will try to remember to do that from now on!!  Laughing

Pepe,
Honest, my plates are always full!  They look fuller than the others at my table!  Remember, these are full size dinner plates I am photographing!!  bigsmile   I did take a picture of my plate at the brunch today!!  I'll post it when I get more pictures into Photobucket!!

Sharon,
T _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ hs!!!  lmao

Frankie,
I am excited that your grandkids got to see and play in snow!  In the south, snow is always an event!!

Lolita,
I used to decorate with just peach and gold colors with green, and I still have a lot of Christmas things in that color scheme.  And, I have enough violin/musical ornaments and tree decorations that I could fill an entire tree with just music things, and I have in the past!
The last few years, I have gone with a snowman theme with light blue, red, and green, and I leave my snowmen things out through January.  So far this season, I have not decorated with any "theme" yet in my house.

Hello to everyone and have a great afternoon and evening.

JEANNE, have a wonderful time tonight!!!  So glad you have your son to escort  you .

PRISSY,   Yummmmmmm!!  The brunch had everything I love.  I wish I was  you for just one month.   You get to eat out so many different places all the time.  What a treat that would be for me.  We just finished spaghetti and a loaf of home made yeast bread and a glass of Merlot wine.  I just couldn't resist a glass of wine with my meal if I don't have it with spaghetti I really miss it.  The first glass I have had in over two months since I started getting so sick.

I am headed off to get bathed and ready for bed to relax  and sure hope I sleep better tonight instead of getting up every two hours.

 wave

I am home - had a wonderful trip, except that on the way home someone in front of me hit  huge deer. I had to swerve to avoid the wreck, and because it was after dark and I was alone, I drove a 100 yards down the road to a store and had them call the Sheriff's Department. The poor deer was still alive, the SUV that hit it was crumpled back to the windshield - it was really bad. After I talked to the Dispatcher, I came on home - glad to be safely here.

I did buy Laney's doll house, which is for her birthday at the end of January. Amy and I went shopping alone - a rare event!, and she was able to get some things for Cameron and Laney, too.

Prissy and JoAnn - you are very lucky to have such a lasting friendship. I have some that have lasted that long, too, but because we moved so much they are now long distance relationships. What fun it would be to just be able to see each other all of the time!

Monica - is your cousin by any chance stationed at Ft. Polk? That is only 30 minutes south of me. (That is where the deer was hit!) We are originally form Memphis, but we have lived in Louisiana for over 25 years now.

JoAnn - did you write the Clay poem? Your fried donuts sound like the fried donuts here in Louisiana - right down to the powdered sugar.

Prissy - the Brunch sounds wonderful - funny that you won't say TABLECLOTHS any longer  Laughing

Jan - have fun at the Symphony. I found my Christmas Spirit today - listened to Clay sing for 5 hours on the trip to Amy's house and back. I am sorry the Gators lost. I admire Tebow so much. He seems like a really good man.

Pepe - I have not had time to eat today!!! (Not a good thing). I came home and Lewis had a glass of wine poured - the first I have had in months!

dudley -  Huggles I'm sorry you have not had a good day - hope tomorrow will be better.

Betty - I am getting worried about you - hope you are just resting after the cruise. I talked to Shirl this morning - we both miss you. Shirl was finally able to sleep last night for the first time after Thursday's chemo.

Good Night, OCD - see you tomorrow.

Good  Morning Everyone,

Glory-- wave  You beat me!  I didn't get up until 5:30 this morning.  Sammy follows me too and I bring him outside the first thing.  I'm  so glad that I don't treat him like an outside dog.  It is so cold out there this morning and we  heard the neighbor's dog barking at us.  Those poor "outside" babies.  They are more watch dogs then pets I believe.

I'm going over to the pet thread now and download Sammy's Christmas photos.  Those who enjoy  seeing pet photos, hope you will enjoy his.

FRANKIE, how scary.  That could have been you.  I hate to see my  husband or son driving around dusk one of the worst times for seeing and hitting deer.  We have had people killed here with deer flying thru the windshields.  Very scary.  I wish you wouldn't drive that by yourself anymore, that is quite a trip to go shopping.   Yep there I go again I am no fun at all just a big worrier.  Love ya lady and don't want anything to happen to you.  I sure hate to hear that SHIRL hasn't been able to sleep since Thursday.  Is it doing her any good  now or just keeping her sick?  I just don't know what to think and why advancement hasn't been made instead of still using Chemo.  Hope you drank that whole glass of wine!!!!!!!!!!  Huggles

JOANN, I am headed over to the Pet Thread to see Sammy's picture.

DUDLEY, I feel so bad that you felt so bad yesterday.  I did't post to you yesterday as I know on the weekends you hardly ever get on the computer.  I was afraid you were trying to do to much, with putting that tree up and all.  Was it  your shoulder that was so painful or your Fibro or your lungs?  I sure hope  you feel better today.  Get the furbabies and get back in bed and cover up good.

Good Morning! I'm having my first cup of coffee with all of you  Laughing

Glory - Callie just loves you - that is why she follows you! Laney has a little dollhouse now (3 rooms). The new one has 9 rooms. She is the type of little girl that will probably keep this dollhouse her whole life - I enjoy see miniatures, too. She will be able to move her existing doll furniture to the new house, if she wants. Her Dad knows how to do things (as opposed to her PaPaw and Uncle), so he plans to wire the house for her so that lamps and ceiling fans will really work. It will take time, but I know that Laney and her Dad will enjoy working on it together.  Clapping Clapping that you are going to get to visit your friend - we all need to do more of that.

JoAnn - I'm headed over to the Pet Thread, too!

Pepe - I guess I've always been accustomed to driving long distances alone. And I do watch for deer - we live in such a rural area. I was very lucky last night. I saw the wreck happen up ahead - didn't know what the SUV was doing at first. I do try to be very careful. The kids know what time I leave, and so does Lewis. I called him from the store after I had reported the wreck - and, yes, I did drink that glass of wine!  Laughing I think Shirl is feeling good, all things considered. She is being careful to rest and to eat well.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone - see you later.............

Good Morning!

Just a quick  wave  as I'm getting ready for Sunday School and then this afternoon, I will go back to church and decorate that famous table for the Woman's Gala this evening.  I have ironed the you know whats and will see if I can drape them over the back seat of the van with out wrinkling them.  The dishes, napkins, etc. are packed and ready to go.

We had a lovely dinner at JoAnn and Jennie's last evening.....Jennie's delicious chicken spaghetti and JoAnn's wonderful salad with onion and croutons;  also garlic bread, and cookies, fruit cake, and pumpkin bread for dessert.

We played several games of Yahtzee, with Skip moving  back and forth from the game table to the TV where he was watching the Texas/Nebraska game.  We all watched the last quarter of the game to see Texas win by one point  in the last second with a field goal!  A heat stopping finish!!

Hello to everyone checking in and/or reading.  Have a Super Sunday!

Good Sunday morning/afternoon everyone,

Frankie, you read my mind, I was going to asks you today if you had heard from Betty, I’m with you, I am hoping she is just resting. Vacations can be tiring. Thanks as always for sharing news of Shirl with us. I am praying she will be healthy again soon.

Jan, I’m sorry you missed California Huggles but I’m sure you can visit anytime you want. California is huge, I have been to the mountains many times, I love the mountains. The deserts interest me…the beaches not so much, I guess being born and raised next to the beach did it to me. I hope you had a fabulous time with the Symphony last night.

JoAnn, I think I may know this recipe that you are talking about. In my country we called it “Boche-boche,” (spelling may not be correct) I never made it and don’t have a clue how to but loves it. I love donuts; I would appreciate it very much if you share the recipe with us. BTW, I speak three Philippines dialects but I did not teach my son any of it as I was busy learning English and I am still learning. My husband loves the Orient, he said that people there seems to have more time for their family and relaxation. Is it the same in Norway?

Prissy, I love your home (outside) Christmas décor; it must have taken a long time to do all that. We only place Christmas lights around the house (rooftops) I tried to decorate my front door and some bushes once, I did not do a good job and hubby thought it was hysterical so I never did it again.

Monica, I’m fine but let’s not talk about me, how are you? I am counting the days for some good news from you. I am excited…I’m ready to be your baby’s cyber aunt or Nana. Smile

Pepe, I hope you rested well last night. Huggles Hubby’s older brothers are plotting…they believe that they would be able to keep MIL here indefinitely. They better think again, MIL is older now but she could get nasty. As far as saving her money, I don’t know, she used to offer gas money when we dropped her off, not this time. So I’m hoping she has not giving all her savings away. BTW, MIL will be here late today, so I probably post later tonight.

Miss Betty, like Frankie, I am worried about you, please let us know how you are, just come on over and say wave

wave Glory, Kelly, Thea, Michelle, Tiffany, and the rest…
