THE EPITOME OF DECORUM

« on: June 25, 2009, 04:20:36 AM »

SINCE THE CLAY NEWS IS SLOW, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUN TO POST AN INTERVIEW FROM OCTOBER OF 2003, IN THE EARLY DAYS OF CLAY:

It would be difficult to find anyone in the U.S. who has not heard of Clay Aiken. The 24-year-old native of Raleigh, N.C., was a contestant on the second season of the FOX-TV series "American Idol." Although he placed second to Ruben Studdard, Aiken has already been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where "This Is the Night" spent two weeks on top. It is the best-selling single of 2003 and has paved the way for the artist's first album, "Measure of a Man," which RCA Records is releasing Oct. 14.

In June, Aiken sat down with Billboard's Fred Bronson for a lengthy interview about his experiences on "American Idol." Last week they met up again, to discuss Aiken's debut CD track-by-track in a conversation that is exclusive to Billboard.com.

THIS WAS POSTED LAST WEEK, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE WE MAY BE HEARING SOMETHING IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE!!

Lit agent David Vigliano is out with a proposal for a Clay Aiken book based on the American Idol star’s 2006 Christmas special.

“He’s got a very strong Christian audience, primarily because he’s from the South, and that’s an audience that seems to respond to Christmas stories,” said Mr. Vigliano. “He also had the best-selling Christmas album”—that’d be 2004’s Merry Christmas with Love—“and then did a Christmas tour every year since then. So it kind of made sense,

OF COURSE IT SHOULD BE JNT 05- YOU WOULD THINK MR. V WOULD BE MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE!!

Six years ago I never imagined that falling in love with a nerdy guy who had an unbelievable voice would lead me into learning so much about so many different areas. From the music business, to autism, to the children of Uganda called “night commuters”, to the world of Broadway and now to the world of publishing. It’s been an incredible adventure Clay has taken us on and it’s only just begun.

The Clay Aiken News Network site has done it again. They've posted a well written explanation of exactly what a literary agent is responsible for doing.

After reading the news of a possible Christmas book by Clay Aiken, I was intrigued to find out more about the job of a literary agent.  What do they do and why are they important?

A literary agent negotiates between authors and those who produce the work of the author. These people would consist of book publishers, radio, television and film producers, and theater managers.
