Clay Aiken To Guest Judge On Top Model

Clay Aiken knows how to belt out a tune. But how is his knowledge in the world of modeling? We’ll find out soon, as he’s just announced he’ll be guest judging an episode of America's Next Top Model this season.

A rep from the CW confirmed Clay will join the judges table on the April 8th episode, and he’ll be using some of his own talents to help the models!

Clay’s job is to work with the contestants in an acting challenge. He will then take his place at the judges’ table at the end of the episode when one contestant will be sent home. Well this makes us feel better about the choice! We can actually see Clay doing a good job at this!

Also joining the judges table this season is Ciara. No word on her role yet, but we do know she’ll be paying the models a visit during one of their photo shoots. Top Model comes back February 25th! Whoohoo!

Clay Aiken To Visit 'America's Next Top Model'
By Access Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- We know he can sing and he can act, but does Clay Aiken know high fashion?

We'll find out when the former "American Idol" runner-up takes a seat at the judges' table on an upcoming episode of "America's Next Top Model," a rep for The CW has confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Aiken will appear as a guest judge on the April 8 episode, working with the model hopefuls in an acting challenge. He will then take his place at the judges' table at the end of the episode when one contestant will be sent home.

But the former "Idol," who recently wrapped up his run on Broadway's "Spamalot," won't be the only star making a guest appearance on April 8 - singer Ciara will also visit the show during the models' photo shoot.

The twelfth cycle of "America's Next Top Model" debuts February 25.

American Idol, one of the most popular reality shows on US television, will return for its 8th season with a brand spankin’ new format. Unlike the previous year’s 24 contestants, 36 emerging singers will be admitted into February’s semi-finals round, and three wild card slots—an arrangement previously used in seasons one through three—will give the judges the right to send their personal picks to the top 12 regardless of viewers’ votes. This way, genuinely talented singers are better assured of spots in the top 12 unlike in recent seasons, when relatively poorer singers got through thanks to the public’s pull.

The revival of the wild card set-up is a significant one. Highly successful Idol alumni such as Jennifer Hudson and Clay Aiken would not have gotten their big breaks were it not for their wild card status. Thus, this year, the top 12 will not be strictly comprised of six men and six women unlike in latter seasons.

American Idol got a little more serious last night as 147 hopefuls arrived at Los Angeles’ famed Kodak Theatre (did they mention it’s famous? Really? Six times, you say?) for Hollywood Week. The judges’ goal was simple — “All we’re looking for is a star,” explained Simon Cowell — and in the interest of sparing us from the sight of gawky, ungroomed singers like a pre-makeover Clay Aiken, producers let their teams of stylists and makeup artists loose … as well as Barry Manilow, who showed up to mentor. Eliminations were swift and relatively painless: singers took the stage in batches of eight to sing whatever they chose a cappella (time to start whining about song choice), and anyone who passed moved to the next round. Insert tears, whoops of joy and Ryan Seacrest hugs here.

At the end of the first two days of Hollywood Week, 104 singers were still standing.

Report: Clay Aiken to appear on 'America's Next Top Model'
By Christopher Rocchio, 02/04/2009

Clay Aiken will reportedly be returning to reality television this spring -- however it won't be on the show that made him a household name.

The American Idol second-season runner-up will serves as a guest judge for an America's Next Top Model twelfth-season episode scheduled to air in April, Entertainment Weekly reported Wednesday.

In addition, Aiken will also "participate in an acting challenge" during the episode, according to EW.

While it may seem odd that Aiken would be participating in an acting challenge and not one centered on singing, the former Idol finalist does have theatrical experience.

He originally played the role of Sir Robin in Monty Python's Spamalot at the Shubert Theatre early last year before taking a break from the production to promote his fourth album "On My Way Here," which was released in May.

He subsequently reprised his role in the fall and continued in it until last month.

America's Next Top Model's twelfth season will premiere Wednesday, February 25 at 8PM ET/PT on The CW.
