You may have heard during your journeys around the Internet that someone has been impersonating Clay Aiken. Reports vary from "Fake Clay" posting on certain private fan boards, IMing fans and even a possible phone call here and there.
There have been rumors of this sort for the past year or so, but now it's out there, so we wanted to make you aware.
If you, or anyone you know, believes they have communicated with Clay in any unofficial capacity, I'm sorry to say that it probably was not him. We hope none of you were taken in or hurt in any way by this scam. If you do believe you have spoken or communicated with "Fake Clay," or have any information at all, you may advise me or one of the mods via PM or email and we will pass any info on to the appropriate persons.
Especially if you are a minor. All information will be kept confidential.
While we may feel comfortable here, as if we are among friends or family, the truth is that the Internet is a totally anonymous venue for scam artists, con men and women, and scurrilous persons of all kinds. We must always be vigilant and wary, and most of all, SMART about our dealings with anyone on the Internet.
In all honesty, if they would have simply asked this person to sing, they would have been enlightened as to the fact that they were not discoursing with Clay Aiken.
