Next up -- reading and tabulating your best/worst picks from Tuesday night's performances. But first, the quick Idol sales summary.
(snip)

> The off-the-chart brigade: Ruben sold 2,300 to bring his total to 209,000. Clay sold 1,100 to bump up to 503,000. And Kelly Clarkson sold 4,700 for a rounded total of 5.7 million

For all the focus on the winners, sometimes runner-ups have better careers. Clay Aiken and Jennifer Hudson proved that on "Idol," and so far the most notable talent to emerge from "Nashville Star" has been season one's third-place finisher, Miranda Lambert. Her song "Kerosene" received great critical acclaim and was a bona fide hit.

Rolling Stone is trying to tap into the blogging market which includes an inane blog by Rob Sheffield about American Idol. Remember you can't watch and draw your own conclusions; you have to go to RS for opinions. (Good thing for Led Zeppelin, people didn't do that in their day). Nevertheless, the latest blog had what some may consider a bit of racism in it as Sheffield proclaimed that "white girls can't sing". Oops, don't tell that to RS darlings the Dixie Chicks! Another reason why they should leave the blogging to the professionals. If you care to read the blog and can spare a few IQ points click on over to the full story link. Next thing you know they'll try and make Clay Aiken look "sexy" with a cover image.. wait they already did that.

Thanks for the news, Deanna.

Snow day for the kids...let them really enjoy it with a shovel in their hands!

Loved, loved, loved the way Clay sings the National Anthem. I think I'll have to listen a few more times.

Cover of Raleigh News & Observer supplement "What's Up" Friday edition...."Clay Aiken Rocks Your Mom."

And others.  <--- I added that part.  Wink

The cover is designed to look like a homemade kraft paper book cover...

And the inside piece.

Thanks to Moonshot for the scans!

March 31 at Cardinal Club, Raleigh

Clay Aiken

Raleigh's hometown "American Idol" star has never been a critical favorite, and it's hard to imagine he ever will be. Aiken's multiplatinum days seem over (last year's "A Thousand Different Ways" was his first album to sell fewer than 1 million copies), and he has weathered a storm of personal-life rumors. None of which matters a whit to Aiken's beyond-rabid following of "Claymates," who are some of the most feverishly loyal fans in the music business.

To his credit, Aiken is still using his clout to do good works. This show is a high-priced charity gala for his Bubel/Aiken Foundation, which works with special-needs kids.

Respect means never having to say you're sorry.
