One of the things I find most charming about Clay it his sharp wit and warm sense of humor.  And his ability to convey incredible emotion when he speaks.  In my eyes, he's as powerful a speaker as he is a singer.

That man is responsible for enough diet soda being snorted through my nose and spit all over my monitor to fill a small lake!   spit coffee

He's also very skilled at saying things that fill me with such emotion that I cry like a little girl.   Cry!

And he's made statements about our world and all the people living in it that have left me sitting alone for hours in quiet contemplation, or inspired me to the point that I burned with the fire of wanting to change the whole world.

Yes, our Clay knows how to use his voice - in more ways than pounding out those glory notes.  (And they ain't bad either.   Wink )

Here are a couple of my favorites:

"I'm being trained to shake the bon-bon appropriately.."
—''Access Hollywood interview about his JukeBox Tour

"In my ideal world, no child would suffer. Charitable instincts would prevail. There would be global acceptance of all different types of people."  - Learning to Sing

"I've only slipped and fallen on the ice ... four times.  Well worth the bruises on my bum."
JNT 2004 Salt Lake City

And who could forget the recent and hilarious:  "THEY WILL BE LOCKED!!!"   ROFLMAO

So ... which Clay quotes have stayed with you long after they were said?  Which Clay blurbs get stuck in your head and make you giggle at inappropriate times or sit around with a stupid looking smile on your face?

What are your favorite Clay Aiken quotes, and why?

C'mon.   Share with the family...

Here's one I always remembered...

"I have relatives that wouldn't spit in my mouth if my teeth were on fire!"

...because it was ewwww and Laughing

And the one about cats...

"Actually I don't hate cats, I'm just kind of afraid of them."  Kitty  because it's so often misquoted, even by that bastion of journalism the BBC...

and I don't remember this one verbatim, but it was something like...

"Just because I'm from North Carolina, you think this is the Andy Griffith Show or something??"

because I have used it myself.  Laughing Laughing Laughing

Great topic Kris!!

Awesome topic!!!!!!!  Purple Banana  Cuz Clay is so funnnnnnnny!  Laughing

My faves of all time (oldie but goodies):

"Getting used to my new contact lenses....I am sure I was looking at Randy once when Paula was talkin'".   Laughing

and....

"I also imagine having my own talk show - a cross between Oprah and Larry King's.  It would be an issue show - not one that featured strippers on crack screaming at each other."  from Learning to Sing  ROFLMAO

and....

"OK...I know this looks pretty lazy.  Truth is I had a sty and could not get my medicine in the right place.  Thank goodness Nick had no hesitation about squirting burning fluid into my eyeball"  from Learning to Sing.  ROFLMAO

and....

"LAWWWWWDY JESUS"!   lmao

and...

"The greatest glory never comes from falling but from rising each time you fall".

PS.

Clay's Maine Squeeze

« Reply #3 on: January 21, 2007, 03:27:02 PM »

I liked when he told Jimmy Kimmel, "I shaved my legs for you!" Laughing

I liked his "making a difference" speech way back on the beginning of AI2.

I loved when he was on Jay Leno and they were talking about his old license picture and Raleigh.  He snarked, "Yea, Mayberry. " That whole conversation was pretty funny.

I liked his AMA speech where he said, "I'm not used to winning anything, I am used to second place."

Great topic, Kris!!  Clapping

OH, my goodness....so many.

I will HAVE to say....the one I put in my siggy really touched me.  I think I got it from a blog...at the end of it.

"New people to know and love."

If we look at every day like this like Clay does, perhaps it would be a better world.   bigsmile

"I will not say Granny's face needs ironing..."
~ Learning to Sing

"I lost my wallet and my drivers license, so it's probably on eBay."

(After an AI3 contestant threw Simon's glass of water in his face during a bad audition)  "Simon deserved it.  He's MEAN to people!!"   lmao

Does anybody remember the exact quote from the post Thanksgiving appearance on Leno a couple of years ago?  About how anal he is about keeping his fridge clean and how the milk bottles have to be kept in a row.  Something like, "You can move it around, but people, PLEASE!  Keep it in line!!"

 ROFLMAO ROFLMAO ROFLMAO ROFLMAO ROFLMAO

And then he told Jay he hated having left overs in the fridge.

Clay:  I don't want any nasty turkey sitting in my refridgerator for a MONTH!

Jay:  The turkey can't live in your fridge for a week or two?

Clay:  (smirks at him)  It's been dead a while, Jay!

lmao Laughing lmao Laughing lmao Laughing

I love watching him interact with talk show hosts.  He just steals the entire show!

Oh this is great! Hee!

I've been thinking about my favorites:

Definitely the: "I shaved my leg for you!" On Kimmel, I can watch that clip, again and again.

On the JNAT tour: "Playing with the wood."

"THEY WILL BE LOCKED!"

"I'm not different.  I'm not different at all. The wrapping is different but the gift is still the same."

LOL! "I'm tired and I don't know what day it is."

I have no idea where this is from but I nearly peed when I read it: "Half my butt is mac & cheese and the other half is Krispy Kreme..."

 lmao lmao lmao lmao

And what a fine looking butt it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That is the one that I was trying to remember.  I thought that it had something to do with Hot Pockets....but it was Mac and Cheese with Krispy Cremes.  That man is a hoot!

Clay's Fiddlin' Poet

« Reply #9 on: January 22, 2007, 09:07:31 AM »

I wish my memory was better!

On ET there was an interview with Kelly Clarkson and Clay when they were on tour together.  Clay said something like "Salads are bad for you."  And when talking about NC pulled pork barbeque to Kelly, who  made a face when she looked at it, Clay said something like: "Ain't that good stuff."

I wish I could remember more, because he has said some really funny things.

Hugs,
