I, too, like all the lines mentioned so far. My all time favorite is from the "Without You" duet with Kimberley Locke. When he was singing it while touring, when he'd sing "OH BABY WHERE DO I BELONG." Nobody can work the word baby like Clay.
Oooooooh yeah.
Somehow that one had slipped my mind. When my legs start working again, I'm gonna go get that CD and blast that song.
On repeat.
About 900 times.
Uh oh...
Here it comes again...
Sorry.
Sometimes certain parts of my ... personal wardrobe just bursts into flames when thoughts of Clay prevail.
Clack related wardrobe malfunctions.
Before I got sidetracked by the memory of
"OH BABY WHERE DO I BELONG."
....
Yeesh, that's a real frisbee to the head, that one!
I came here to add that:
1 - I LOVE reading everyone's choices and their reasons for picking certain songs and lines. It's yet another example of the many different ways he touches people.
Touches people ... Trying very hard NOT to let my mind go to a naughty place with that statement.
I think I need to go the my room in the BLPT until I can calm down. Now what the hell was I saying?!?!?
Oh yeah, touching. Uh hem.
Clay, somewhat bemused by my befuddlement, says, "Gonna get to a point sometime today, LadyC? You pervert?"
Yeeeeesssss, Clay.
Whatever you say, Your Unbelievable Deliciousness!
My point is that our reactions to the individual songs and lines, and even the inflections in Clay's voice are diverse and endless. We might all listen to one verse of the same song and interpret it in
A Thousand Different Ways
.
Ya, I know. I'm so very punny. I kill me!
So this was truly a great topic idea,
Woody
.
But then, we've come to expect no less from you! We not only got insight into each other, which is always fun for me, but we also get a chance to look at Clay's music through another's eyes. Er ... hear it through another's ears.
Whatever. You get my point.
And 2 - I know we're mostly talking about ATDW here, but I gotta say that I love, love, LOVE when Clay sings O Holy Night live, and he adds the extra emotional, "You can HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAR the angel vooooooooiices. Oooh HOLY NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGHT!!!"
Makes me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME I see him do it. He tilts his head back a little and closes his eyes, such a powerful, moving moment. I have chills just remembering it.
Oh, and I love any line with words that show his accent.
LOVE IT!!!!!

Just came back to read some more. With each song choice I find myself feeling the emotions, and nodding in agreement.
" The Way" Pamela your choice is great. I could listen to that song forever.
Meesa, I loved your line from Lover All Alone , actually I loved all the lines to that song.
Love Clay's Low notes, and growly notes.
But Micki's Avatar is hot hot hot. Those eyes, Those cheek bones, I could quote a line from "Here You Come Again"
Looking better than a body has a right too.
This is one

IT IS MAGICAL TO READ ALL THE REASONS AND CHOICES

I just had to come back and read some more. OMG...............I need
Kris's
hose and
Pamela's
mop!!!
I just HAVE to say that I am glad these lyrics makes you all go as crazy as they do me. Clay sure knows how to deliver a line. I REALLY wish he were singing them to me.
But then, he wouldn't have a clue what he'd be in for.
Thanks, everyone, for sharing.
