Remember when you believed you could change the world? Well, you can!

Last year, when Clay was the official representative, Trick or Treat for UNICEF raised nearly $5 million during Halloween. It was unprecedented, but UNICEF was able to help children right here in the United States for the very first time. The children affected by Hurricane Katrina were assisted by UNICEF, as well as people who suffered during the Pakistan earthquake. Emergency supplies, new wells for fresh water, and vaccines for children were provided, helping to save the lives of many of those children.

This year, you can still make a difference. Here's how!

If you would like to make a contribution through Claymaniacs, please paypal to pamela@claymaniacs.com or send a check (made out to UNICEF) to me at:

P.O. Box 173
Clayton, NC   27528

We'll accept contributions until November 1 November 28!

OR, you can take your change to any of the 12,000 participating Coinstar Centers across the US - and simply designate the US Fund for UNICEF as the recipient by entering code 5555 and Coinstar will provide you with a printed receipt for your gift!!

OR, you can donate directly, online at http://www.unicefusa.org/trickortreat ...

OR, you can donate by phone by calling 1-800-4UNICEF.

OR, you can drop your change into any of those little orange boxes you may see somewhere this time of year, or to a child that comes to your door asking for contributions.

However you choose to help, we hope you do.  Because ...

only $24 can provide 4 long lasting insecticidal mosquito nets to protect children from malaria

$52 can provide 2 micro filters which can supply safe drinking water to large families or schools

$75 can provide 255 bags of "PlumpyNut," a ready to eat therapeutic spread to nourish children with severe actue malnutrition

and

$100 can vaccinate 100 children against polio for life

Thanks for the info, Pamela...I've got a Q for anyone who can help...

I sent for some of the collection boxes last year, and they didn't arrive.  This year a set came, and I've found out there is a whole 'rigamarole' to getting it approved for me to let my students use these (you know the 'witch' I work for...I get Halloween every day, these days)  Naughty Naughty...I was wondering where I might take them, so that they could be put to use.  Do you know if there are certain places nationally that make the collection boxes available to children?

Thanks in advance.

If you know someone with a Girl Scout troop, or someone who teaches Sunday School, they might want the UNICEF boxes. Every year that I had a Girl Scout troop, the girls always trick-or-treated for UNICEF - one year we even went out as a group - that was really fun, and brings back a lot of good memories.

Sara-Jessica Parker has been on several T.V. shows this week as a UNICEf Ambassador - but she talks like she is not the only one. Wonder if Clay is still considered an Ambassador for UNICEF?

Frankie, those are good ideas, thanks!  I think the boxes are actually available at Pier One stores too, if anyone needs them.  Remember, there isn't really a deadline per se; we sent our contribution last year in November.

Also, there is a more current list of ambassadors on the UNICEF site.

Update!

Thanks to several generous Claymaniacs, we have raised $295 to contribute to UNICEF!

This contribution will be made in honor of Clay's birthday later this month.

Thank you all!

Pamela,

I must have missed this.  If you are still taking donations, I'll Pay Pal you one tonight when I get home.

PAMELA:  I just took care of this.
