But let’s just consider some of the artists whose work is not even included among the Top 50 greatest albums, due to the Beatles’ monopoly: Prince; R.E.M.; Johnny Cash; Eric Clayton; Cream; Guns’N’Roses; the Strokes; Dr. De; Britney Spears; Elvis Costello, Frank Sinatra; Garth Brooks; the Grateful Dead; Clay Aiken; Smokey Robinson; Carlos Santana; Iggy Pop; Madonna; Tom Petty; Eminem; the Pixies; the Police; O-Town; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; Simon and Garfunkel (although they did come in at No. 51); Janis Joplin; Aretha Franklin; Lauryn Hill; Billie Holliday and The Supremes.
