CD Sales Tracking - Charting the Waters II

Hi AC,

I checked Amazon at six this morning and Clay was at number one. Two hours later, he was not even on top 100.

This is what I read at other boards. I hope it's okay to post it here.

I need a favor from everyone.. please 

Please do NOT call Amazon about these problems.

evancol has been on the phone with them almost continuously since Wed evening.

She is in contact with the head of the IT dept and the head of Amazon's Customer Service Dept.

She has built up a good relationship with them in trying to get these computer glitches resolved. And she knows the technical aspects and computer lingo to discuss the problems with them.

If Amazon gets bombarded with complainning phone calls, it will NOT help the situation.

Please just wait until we are able to get this resolved.

Please do not call. And don't cancel your order yet.

Just wait patiently a little while longer.

Whatever the problem they're having at Amazon, I hope they fix it soon. Being a Clay fan is certainly ain't easy but I have no complain.

evancol just got off the phone from talking - once again - to the head of Amazon's IT dept.

You can now find ATDW by searching for Clay Aiken throughout amazon.com

You can find ATDW by searching for Clay Aiken in Music.

The sales rank is showing on the ATDW page.

He is #1 on the Top Seller list.

The only place he is not showing up that we can see is on the Top Seller list on the Music page.

So it is 99% fixed.

Maybe I can get an answer to my question  on this thread.

The Press Release for ATDW said that MOAM has been CERTIFIED TRIPLE PLATIUM.

Is this Official?

MOAM is listed as Double Platinum there.  My understanding is that MOAM is Triple Platinum, but the record label (RCA) has to "petition" the RIAA for the certification to become official.

I have an Excel spreadsheet of the Amazon rankings that I use to make graphs for Clayboard. Much of the first week isn't covered (was taken from Junglescan). But MOAM was hovering in the 1 and 2 position for the first two weeks. I do remember it being at #1 for much of the first week. I don't think this is much different. I do know some fans are waiting to place their orders.

Rainey ~ I guess you have to think of it this way.  This is only the amount sold from one place...Amazon...not B&N or anywhere else that has it for pre-sale.  Plus that is only the first 4-5 days sales.  He has a over 40 days until it is released and he hasn't even started his big media promotion yet!  Once he gets on TV, radio, magazines, internet....he is going to sell a TON more.  Not all his fans are internet fans like you and I and may not even know about the date yet...not until his promotion starts.  Also, both this rep from Amazon and Clay were totally amazed at the amount that has been sold so far in just a few short days.  Does that help?
