How about some ‘Idol’ fantasy?
Imagine Simon Cowell’s nightmare: a Bucky-Elliott final

This has been the most unpredictable season of “American Idol” in the show’s five-year history. The remaining eight finalists result in probably the deepest field “Idol” has ever had. And unlike past seasons, there hasn't been one finalist who's grabbed universal acclaim from the beginning and carried it through to a win.

Previous seasons have seen contestants like Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino and Carrie Underwood sail through the finals with barely a hiccup.  By the second or third week last year, it was apparent that Underwood could show up onstage dressed like a mountain climber and singing a traditional Albanian folk song, and she’d have still been a lock for the finals. No one in this year’s group that has that kind of a margin for error.

Clay is in the May 2006 Issue of PopStar Magazine (Page 101) - PopStar did not like Clay's look at the Emmys  This is the look that they do not like:

Also - this is the month to vote for the annual PopStar Awards - there is a ballot in the magazine that has to be sent in by May 1. The magazine also says that you can vote online at www.popstaronline.com, but I looked yesterday and did not see a ballot - maybe there will be one soon.

American Idol VCOM Style
By Casandra Lyon

The performers were judged by three faculty members who impersonated the judges from American Idol. Robert Hudson from the Human Resources Department played Randy Jackson. Megan Price, Director of Admissions, played Paula Abdul. And Christopher Reilly, the Discipline Chair for Physiology played Simon Cowell.

After each performance, the three judges evaluated the competitors in the typical American Idol fashion. After listening to Hange’s performance, Reilly (Simon Cowell) remarked, "Fever was the perfect song because frankly, your performance made me ill. You know, you’re a nice girl and all, Danielle- but you’re no Clay Aiken." The crowd howled with laughter.

This is not from RCA but the June 20th release date is showing up in more and more sources.  Please note:  these are NOT official announcements so this date could change.

From the FWIW department:

I received an update from a contact in distribution today, which indicated that Clay's album is due on 20 June. That matches the information from the New Music Tipsheet (scroll down to RCA Family). No Christina release date is listed, with RMG releases scheduled through 11 July 2006.

Now, for the standard disclaimers. While I believe that both sources are working off actual label schedules and not, say, the RCA Records website, this doesn't say anything to me other than RCA is targeting 20 June for Clay. I've seen release dates listed, only to get pushed back for whatever reason (case in point: Jesse McCartney's sophomore album showed up on New Music Tipsheet as a 13 June 2006 release last December, but is now a TBD release for Hollywood Records).
