Review of Clarkson concert spurs irate Idol fans' chatter
Review of Clarkson concert triggers lip-synching denials
Saturday, August 20, 2005
BY KIRA L. SCHLECHTER
Of The Patriot-News
So did she or didn't she?

Did "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson lip-synch during some of her performance last week at Hershey's Giant Center, or was she singing live?

Either way, fans are up in arms because a Patriot-News reporter intimated the star may have had a little vocal help.
(snip)

Matthew Solovey, a senior editor of the Hershey Chronicle, who also reviewed the Giant Center show, said he didn't notice any enhancement of Clarkson's vocals.

"I was surprised when I read that in her review," he said. "I actually thought Kelly was out of tune on several notes."

Widynowski said he hadn't spoken to Clarkson about the lip-synching intimations. Asked about the MSNBC story's assertion that there was a "buzz" in the industry that Clarkson did use such techniques, he said, "Where they're getting that information, I don't know."

Walls said that every time she's written something about "American Idol," the response has been swift and overwhelming.

"You want some reaction? Write about Clay Aiken," she said.

CONCERT: Barry Manilow in Vegas
BY MELISSA RUGGIERI
TIMES-DISPATCH STAFF WRITER Aug 21, 2005

LAS VEGAS The latest veteran entertainer to set up camp in Las Vegas doesn't pound his chest when he sings -- although there is some serious arm flailing

His fans are maniacal, the type who will scrape their vacation fund until it bleeds if it means enough dough for that $100-plus ticket to see him one more time.

So give Celine her Colosseum and Elton his gig as her official stand-in. Barry Manilow is managing quite well in his 1,700-capacity theater at the opposite end of the pulsing Vegas strip.

One of the most talented songwriters to ever brandish a microphone, Manilow late last year signed a multimillion-dollar deal to perform a spurt of shows at the Hilton Theater through next year.(snip)

An old-school entertainer who knows the value of a corny quip ("This is what Clay Aiken will look like in 30 years"; "A Jew in the desert -- I'm very comfortable here in Vegas"), Manilow, 59, is also a self-deprecating hoot, referring to himself as a "supermegastarsexgod" and prancing without an ounce of rhythm to a tight disco medley of Donna Summer and Earth, Wind & Fire hits.

Clarkson gives 'em Idol hour of action
Dispelling tales of lip-synching takes lots of bouncing
By Ron Rollins
rrollins@daytondailynews.com

TROTWOOD | Even after all her rather enormous success, one gets the sense that Kelly Clarkson still feels she's got something to prove.
(snip)

Clarkson, who was in town the same week as co-Idolator Clay Aiken, rocked satisfyingly on Miss Independence, Walk Away, Hate Myself for Losing You and other tunes. She bounced, hopped, skipped and pranced around the stage looking like a tiny, blonde, barefoot Texan version of Steven Tyler. No, really.

'Live,' it's no 'American Idol'
Review: Nadia and Vonzell outshine Carrie and Bo at Staples Center, but frankly, the event just wasn't worth reviewing.
By BEN WENER
The Orange County Register

Sitting through yet another "American Idols Live" presentation, like the one that brought winner Carrie Underwood and nine other finalists from the fourth season of the mega-popular game show to Staples Center on Wednesday night, is a lot like suffering through a three-hour series finale without any payoff.(snip)

Jessica -Apart from Nadia, she's the most underrated of this year's vocalists, and like Nadia she was a tad too offbeat to win. (Bo and Clay Aiken prove guys can look weird and do well; girls apparently must fit a mold.) Wish she had been given better material than "Shop Around" to sing.

Multi platinum recording artist CLAY AIKEN emerged from his 2003 American Idol experience with a recording contract, Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly magazine covers, and legions of loyal fans. Those fans voted him the Fan’s Choice winner at the 2003 American Music Awards as well as TV Guide’s Fan’s Favorite Reality Star that same year. His first single, “This is the Night/Bridge Over Troubled Water” then won the Billboard Music Award for best selling single of 2003…and that was just the beginning. CLAY then hit the charts with the popular single “Invisible,” off his debut CD Measure of a Man, followed that up with his first Christmas CD - Merry Christmas with Love, and the book Learning to Sing: Hearing The Music In Your Life. His latest single “The Way/Solitaire.”

Want to take a virtual tour of Clay's house in LA???  I  hope its ok to post this since he doesn't live there anymore and I thought it was funny - they should charge admission - would have covered his closing costs  ROFLMAO!!

Fans touring Aiken’s home online
Plus: Is Kathleen Turner supporting Scientology?

By Jeannette Walls

Updated: 1:22 a.m. ET Aug. 22, 2005

Clay Aiken fans are visiting his house by the thousands. Virtually.

Rabid fans of the "American Idol" runner-up have been emailing one another virtual tours of the singer’s 7,800 square-foot San Fernando Valley house, which has gone on the market for $2,495,000.

The 26-year-old bought the 6-bedroom, 6 ½-bathroom Mediterranean-style house last fall for $2.3 million, but has said that he doesn’t like living in L.A. because he feels “lonely” there. In addition to taking the cyber tour, fans have been trying to visit their idol’s home in person.

“The street address is there, so they can go up to it in person, but I hear they’ve been trying to get tours from the real estate agent,” a source tells The Scoop. “I’m just trying to figure out if those paintings on the walls are supposed to be portraits of Clay.”

When contacted about the property, real estate agent Jerry Keller said, “I’m not at liberty — can I call you back?” But he never did.

Deleted link.  Clay still owns this house, the closing is not until next month. Thanks for understanding!
