The thought
"Everyone deserves the best start in life, which is what UNICEF is working to provide the world's most vulnerable children. Education is essential to a child's development. I hope that as an Ambassador I can encourage people to join UNICEF's mission to make education a reality for children throughout the world."

The Christian/Gospel music sector is one of the fastest growing in the music industry. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Christian/Gospel music is the sixth most popular music category in overall music sales, with 43.4 million units sold in 2004. The Recording Industry Association of America reports that Christian/Gospel music is nearly a $1 billion dollar industry, outselling Latin, Jazz and Classical music combined (Nielsen SoundScan data).

Industry experts attribute the growing appeal of Christian/Gospel music to younger fans and increased exposure of Christian music artists in mainstream markets. The hit TV show American Idol featured a number of Christian contestants who held their own on the Billboard and Soundscan charts in 2004, including Clay Aiken, with a No. 2-selling album and Ruben Studdard, whose album I Need an Angel closed 2004 at No. 12.

THE BUZZ
Zap2it.com
June 27, 2005

A HEAVENLY DEBUT. "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood is emulating her predecessors by seeing her first single debut at No. 1, Zap2it.com reports. "Inside Your Heaven," released June 14, takes over the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this week from Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together." "Inside Your Heaven" also sits atop the Pop 100 chart, displacing "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani. Underwood, who beat Bo Bice May 25, is the third artist to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 since 1998. The others were ex-"Idolers" Clay Aiken and Fantasia.

Reagan bests Lincoln in the 'American Idol' approach to history

Abe Lincoln just got Clay Aiken'd.

Aiken, you may recall, is the young man who, for reasons that students of pop culture are still struggling to understand, came in second place on the second season of "American Idol."

A similar fate befell the 16th president of the United States on Sunday night, when television viewers voted the title of "Greatest American" not to the "Great Emancipator" but to the "Great Communicator," Ronald Reagan.

Singing, performing, personality, back story, these are all things that generate an interest in a contestant from us, the viewers. If we could take the past four seasons and choose the contestants that brought us the most joy, consistency, and excitement, which 12 would it be.

Below, I will list my dream top 12. However, from there I need to hear from you! Please email me your dream top 12! I will give you an entire week to email your votes. That gives you until JULY 5TH to choose your 12. I’ll need every reader to send me their votes, so we see what our ultimate top 12’s would look like! Below is a list of the contestants from each season as well.

Season 1: Kelly, Justin, Nikki, Tamyra, RJ, Christina, Ryan, AJ, Ejay, Jim
Season 2: Ruben, Clay, Kim L, Josh G, Trenyce, Carmen, Kim C., Rickey, Corey, Julia, Charles, Vanessa
Season 3: Fantasia, Diana, Jasmine, LaToya, George, Jennifer, Jon Stevens, JPL, Amy, Matt Rogers, Leah, Camille
Season 4: Carrie, Bo, Vonzell, Anthony, Scott, Constantine, Anwar, Nadia, Lindsey, Mikalah, Nikko, Jessica

Okay so here goes. My Dream Top 12 in no specific order!

1.Kelly- the voice, goose bumps every performance, you could be best friends with her.
2.LaToya- also the voice and the goose bumps, incredibly classy
3.Clay- the voice, the goose bumps, and the joyful, caring personality
4.Vonzell- the voice and the shear energy, she tears it up
5.Tamyra- also the voice and the energy
6.George- he lights up a room, and I love the raspy quality of his voice
7.Kim L.- her growth throughout the show, and her velvet vocals
8.Rickey- lights up the stage, so genuine, love his voice too
9.Diana- that high belt knocks you out, youthful and fun
10.Nadia- awesome performer! Changes it up!
11.Bo- when he truly rocks out and doesn’t phone it in
12.Constantine (on his good days)- he changes it up and takes risks

Please send me your lists ASAP! I will tally up how many times each person appears in everyone’s list and get back to you next Wed. with the results!

Fantasys...those look like they are just the numbers from the first week of sales on each of their singles they put out right after AI...so, I guess I can believe that Ruben is still in second place with Kelly below him and Fantasia selling more than Bo.  (Clay sold 393,000 of BOTW/TITN the first week...it now totals right around 1 million copies).

I think Clay is still way ahead on total sales of full length albums too if you count MOAM and MCWL, although I heard Kelly's albums are really selling well too and she now has two full length albums to count and her albums have been out longer.  Maybe someone will tally this for us...or maybe the thread on Album Sales is still going...I'm gonna go check...

Here's a link to the Claymaniacs CD Sales thread: http://www.claymaniacs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4091&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Clay love to you...Sue g.

I like that he made one of the 50 Hot Guys of Summer........Of course we knew it.  When you check out the list, he REALLY is HOT and  a LOT better looking.  Most of them don't even look cute or hot or anything.
