         THE SWING
                 by
Robert Louis  Stevenson

HOW do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
  Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
  Over the countryside—

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown—
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

This is a poem I learned as a child and it has always given
me great pleasure to recall it.
I thought it would be a nice addtion to the Garden Thread.

I am so glad to see so many visiting this thread.
I  look forward to more beautiful pictures.

PRISSY, THAT POEM IS A GREAT ADDITION TO THE GARDEN THREAD.

YDEBI, THAT IS ADORABLE.  I AM AMAZED AT YOU TALENTED PEOPLE.  HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU PUT YOUR GRANDAUGHTER'S PICTURE IN THOSE FLOWERS.  YOU MUST PRINT THAT AND SAVE IT FOR HER FOR WHEN SHE GETS OLDER.

LINDA, SO HAPPY YOU CAME TO SEE US HERE.  IT IS A VERY NICE PLACE, VER CALMING AND VERY BEAUTIFUL.

Debi,
Your granddaughter's pictures are so cute in all of the yellow flowers.  You are so clever!!

LadyC,
I love the Salt Lake City pictures.  I've only been there one time, and it's been many years ago.  To see a city surrounded by mountains is something I'm not used to.  My area of Texas is fairly flat.  And what a wonderful view you have, too.

Debi, Linda, Colleen, LadyC, Cindy, Thea,  Pepe, Franny, and all others visiting this thread.  We're glad to see you and keep sharing your beautiful pictures.

Our crepe myrtles are beginning to bloom.  Here are pictures of the ones around the pool:[/size]

This is a pale pink crepe myrtle on other side of the pool.

debi, those pictures are adorable!!

Prissy, I do believe you have become quite adept with your new camera! I expect to see some good shots of Clay when you sneak that camera into a concert; don't forget!  Laughing

Everyone has such lovely gardens...and trees...and flowers.  I pretty much live in the woods, so I just let things go wild most of the time.

I have a couple of pics though. This is actually a poinsetta that came from my office last Christmas.  It's gotten quite huge, as you can see!

We have lots of azaleas and rhododendron.  I took these one evening in April when it was practically dark!

And finally, these are some peonies from my yard; I love them, but they sure don't last very long.

Pamela,
Your pictures are fantastic.  That poinsettia is HUGE!  And I would give anything to have azaleas and rhododendrons. They are gorgeous.

And, Pamela, the picture with the peonies, the bowl of fruit and the basket looks like a beautiful painting.   Skip commented, too, on how even the  lighting  is so perfect.  If I were you, I would have that enlarged and hanging in my home!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures.
Hugs,
Prissy

PS:  I have "taken" my camera in to every Clay concert except the JNT.  They seemed like they meant business when they said no cameras!!  In Charlotte, my camera  was in a bag that had a bunch of loose kleenex covering it up.  No one wanted to touch the kleenex!!:laugh

Tammy,

Your pictures are gorgeous.  I love your pond and the flowers are all beautiful.  I especially like the statues you have in your yard.  The little tumbling girl is precious.

I can't wait to see more pictures from you.  You really have a green thumb!

I live just outside Fort Worth (between Fort Worth and Dallas.)  For many years, my husband and I have had a membership in the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.  This is a beautiful place and also has one of the best  Japanese gardens we have ever seen.

I have also played in weddings in the Botanic Gardens.

Presently, we belong to the Fort Worth Pond Club which has meetings at the  Gardens in a meeting room.

During the summer, the Fort Worth Symphony presents concerts in  the Gardens here, too.

Click on the following link, and then on the left, click on Gardens to see the many gardens.  If you have time, you can click on the other links, too.

Enjoy!
