Oh really?  And exactly how do you go about making your birthday a holiday, huh?  :grin

On my way into work this morning, I turned on the radio (I'm in NJ) to mix 102.7 a NYC station. Michelle Visage was doing the entertainment news, and was talking about Enquirer rag trash and swampthing and all of a sudden she started to SQUEAL--"Is that Clay I'm hearing. I love him! I love his voice. I voted for him"....

YES! in the background, it was Clay singing and it was a song I've never heard before....and believe me I know every song he's ever sung <shamefully admits> It was a song I didn't recognize and it was definitely Clay singing it.

It was only for a few seconds and the DJs were talking over it, but could it be a new single that has been sent to the radio stations for a release date coming up soon? <fingers crossed>

someone on the CB called the radio station that supposedly played a new clay song and everyone was very nice to her and told her that they had to ask the PD in the morning and would get back to her...

Re: I just called 102.7 in NY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to emphasize in my original post that I meant to convey that I thought the playing of a 'new' song was an accident.

The DJs were talking about Clay gossip and someone put on Clay music. It just happened that it was a song I never heard (and I absolutely do know by heart every song Clay has ever recorded). I guessing (...hoping) someone put on a song they weren't supposed to 'leak' yet.

It was on my way to work. At first I thought it was about 7:15 but now I think it's more like 7:45. And yes, it was during Michelle's entertainment report, her 'scoop'.

I did send an email to the Program Director, who hopefully will respond tomorrow morning. As a lurker, I realize I'm a visitor to a very close caring community so I totally understand why posters who only have a few posts to their name are treated with a bit of 'skepticism'. That's why for me, it's just easier not to post.

I was just sooooo excited this morning and just wanted to share my excitement. I too would love some NEWS.

It looks like Jordan Knight's (NKOTB) upcoming CD is called Love Songs.

The release date has been announced as September 12. It appears to be a mix of old and new songs, for example, "Careless Whisper," and "Waiting for a Girl Like You" are tracks.

Interesting.

On June 20, Motown artist Smokey Robinson released his latest effort, Timeless Love. The CD included such classic standards as "I'm in the Mood for Love" and "I've Got You Under My Skin."

Carly Simon Revisits Pop, Lullabies On 'Into White'

Quote
A veteran of interpreting a wide range of material by other artists, Carly Simon will release "Into White," a collection of pop standards and traditional lullabies, Oct. 24 via Columbia.

Taking its name from a Cat Stevens song, "Into White" features Simon covering classic tunes such as Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow," the Everly Brothers' "All I Have To Do Is Dream," the Beatles' "Blackbird" and traditional Gaelic lullabies "Hush Little Baby" and "My Bonnie."

"Into White" also includes two new songs penned by Simon, "Love of My Life" and "Quiet Evening." Simon is joined by children Sally and Ben Taylor for a familial rendition of ex-husband James Taylor's "You Can Close Your Eyes," from 1971's "Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon."

"Into White" is the follow up to Simon's previous collection of standards, 2005's "Moonlight Serenade," which peaked at No. 7 on The Billboard 200.

'Idol's' dating game
Season 5 singers set for Nov. 14 disc bows
By PHIL GALLO

Quote
The RCA Music Group apparently has decided the "American Idol" contestants are not finished with their competition.

Nov. 14 has been set as the release date for debut albums of "AI5" winner Taylor Hicks, runner-up Katharine McPhee and the newest signing in the 19 Recordings fold, Kellie Pickler. It is the first time "Idol" finalists have shared a release date for their debut albums.

The only one left out of the equation is Chris Daughtry, who has inked with 19 Recordings/RCA Records. His album, slated for the fourth quarter, has no firm release date.

The 19 Recordings label, distributed by Sony BMG, has the right to sign any of the 12 finalists. But after four seasons of signing at most the winner and runner-up of the singing competition, 19 inked four contestants from season five. Pickler signed with 19 Recordings/BNA Records last week; McPhee is on RCA; and Hicks is with Arista.

But before the pre-Thanksgiving rush of tyro Idols, there will be an onslaught of releases from "AI" vets. Clay Aiken's third album is due Sept. 19, Ruben Studdard's third CD bows Sept. 26 and Fantasia's soph effort is due Oct. 17.

Joining the fray is the contestant who famously dropped out, Mario Vazquez from "AI4." His album, pushed back from the summer, is pegged for a Sept. 12 release date.

The biggest seller of the "American Idol" clan, first-season winner Kelly Clarkson, will release her next disc early next year.

None of the new artists is competing in the same genre: Pickler leans toward contempo country; Hicks is a classic rock-soul singer; Daughtry is into modern hard rock; and McPhee has one foot in the musical theater.

Rod Stewart Returns To Rock On New Album

Quote
Rod Stewart is retiring his series of standards albums and returning to the rock and roll of his roots. Due Oct. 10 via J, "Still the Same ... Great Rock Classics of Our Time" will feature such tracks as John Fogerty's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain," Elvin Bishop's "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" and Bob Dylan's "If Not for You."

The album is being co-produced by BMG North America chairman Clive Davis and John Shanks (Sheryl Crow, Ashlee Simpson). Other cuts being eyed for the collection include Bob Seger's "Still the Same," Bonnie Tyler's "It's a Heartache" and Van Morrison's "Crazy Love."

Stewart's four volumes in the "Great American Songbook" series have sold a staggering 8.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

As previously reported, Stewart's 1979 No. 1 pop hit "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" will be recast by socialite Paris Hilton on her self-titled debut album, due Aug. 22 via Warner Bros.

In Clay's blog today, he posted the following "statement:"

Quote
Sometimes I wonder how I'd ever make it through this world without having you. I just wouldn't have a clue!

Then he said it was a clue from a song to be on his upcoming album.

The song is called "Every Time I See You Smile," a power ballad from the 80s (big hair decade!) written by Diane Warren and originally performed by John Waites and Bad English.

Quote
Sometimes I wonder
How I'd ever make it through,
Through this world without having you
I just wouldn't have a clue

'Cause sometimes it seems
Like this world's closing in on me,
And there's no way of breaking free
And then I see you reach for me

Sometimes I wanna give up
I wanna give in,
I wanna quit the fight
And then I see you, baby
And everything's alright,
everything's alright

When I see you smile
I can face the world, oh oh,
you know I can do anything
When I see you smile
I see a ray of light, oh oh,
I see it shining right through the rain
When I see you smile
Oh yeah, baby when I see you smile at me

Baby there's nothing in this world
that could ever do
What a touch of your hand can do
It's like nothing that I ever knew

And when the rain is falling
I don't feel it,
'cause you're here with me now
And one look at you baby
Is all I'll ever need,
you're all I'll ever need

Chorus

Sometimes I wanna give up
I wanna give in,
I wanna quit the fight
And then I see you baby
And everything's alright,
everything's alright

So right...

Fans of a "certain age" might remember this song, but if not, here's a little reminder.  And, be grateful that Clay only grew out his bangs.
