This was posted at Clayversity by cotton; she is the one who saw Quiana perform a few weeks ago and Quiana told her she was expecting in June.

Found out today that Quiana is IN LA!!! (She told me on Valentine's Day that she would be singing backup on the cd - so-o-o-o!) I did NOT talk to her. But - the person I did talk with did say that Clay was having some (we talked on top of each other and I missed exact words) 'issues'. I said "With the label?" Answer, "no, with arrangements/arrangers/musicians or something to that effect, wanted to re-work some things on the cd! Wanted to get them right. The way HE wanted cuts to sound." EEE!

THIS MADE ME VERY HAPPY.  A DELAY BECAUSE CLAY WANTS THINGS JUST RIGHT FOR HIM---THAT IS GOOD.  I HOPE PEOPLE STOP DISSING RCA, ETC.  I AM NOT A PATIENT PERSON, BUT I AM TRYING MY BEST.  BOTTOM LINE---WE ALL WANT A SATISFIED CLAY.

VERY HAPPY TO HEAR THAT QUIANA IS IN LA WORKING ON THE CD WITH CLAY.  ALSO, THE FACT THAT SHE HAS TO BE BACK IN CHARLESTON NEXT WEEK EITHER MEANS THEY HAVE ALMOST FINISHED FINE TUNING THE CD OR AT LEAST QUIANA'S PART.

AT LEAST THIS NEWS IS POSITIVE AND SOUNDS LIKE WE ARE GETTING CLOSER.

While I can't give out too much information at this time, I have a reliable source who tells me the new CD release date is May 9th.

I've got my salt shaker handy. The date seems too good to be true, but ClaysMyMidlifeCrisis has posted CD rumors before. I guess we will just have to wait to find out for sure.

May 9? June 20? Maybe Clay was right ... no one knows when it will be.

I REALLY THINK THAT HE SHOULD DO A "BACK FOR MORE " VIDEO TAKEN FROM THE LIVE CONCERT WHERE HE THROWS DOWN THE MIKE STAND.

BUT THEN JACOB WOULD BE IN IT AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THAT WOULD BE.

From the FWIW department:

I received an update from a contact in distribution today, which indicated that Clay's album is due on 20 June. That matches the information from the New Music Tipsheet (scroll down to RCA Family). No Christina release date is listed, with RMG releases scheduled through 11 July 2006.

Now, for the standard disclaimers. While I believe that both sources are working off actual label schedules and not, say, the RCA Records website, this doesn't say anything to me other than RCA is targeting 20 June for Clay. I've seen release dates listed, only to get pushed back for whatever reason (case in point: Jesse McCartney's sophomore album showed up on New Music Tipsheet as a 13 June 2006 release last December, but is now a TBD release for Hollywood Records).

I hope that, if they do indeed intend to get Clay's album out on 20 June, that they start generating positive mainstream media buzz for it soon.

A single would be a good start.  Clay on the airwaves.  Come on, please, he is getting publicity.  There MUST  be single that everyone agrees on ready to go. (I'm ok with back for more. I  like that song and it would be a good summer radio single song.)

I was at the OFC reading in the albums thread and saw that renybc posted some more "insider info" about the CD. I will try and paraphrase what she wrote. I hope this isn't against the rules. Please remember to have your salt shakers ready.

This is what she says she can tell us:

Track list and a first single are ready.
Those who have heard it like it and they are not fans.
The CD may change for the positive how people view Clay.
Clay and RCA are of one mind about the CD and it's promotion.

She also said not to worry about an Oct. release date, and the press release date delay from Thursday was a positive thing.

Her post is on pg 315 in the Album thread.

Take it for what it's worth, but it does make me feel better.

I'm not sure why such vague info would make someone "feel better" though... is there some kind of *bad* news out there that I missed? 

I've felt good all along, even when I heard about "love songs" and "covers."  After all, "love" is the universal theme for life isn't it?  And I'd rather have great covers than mediocre new songs.

I'm going out on a limb and say we'll get a release date by the end of June.
