Title: CLAY'S GOOD NEWS
Post by: Pamela on November 27, 2004, 07:19:53 AM
I know it's not the most important thing in the world right now that Clay sold lots of books and CDs; there's lots of other more important things.  And I know that the majority of people who aren't us couldn't really care less. But with all the tragic things going on the world, it's nice to have some little piece of Good News nearly every single day.

So, in the interest of forever spreading the Good News, with a little help from Deanna and some info from the other boards, I present to you –

"Clay's Good News!"

I just added that 1.12 million copies were shipped.  The record label can apply for platinum status with the RIAA after 1 month.  Hopefully, by then MCWL will have sold enough CD's to qualify.  I think Gold Status (500,000 CD's sold) will be very easy.  Perhaps as early as next week if sales continue at a good clip. (But, the RIAA certificate for Gold Album would still have to wait for the one month mark.) Stay-tuned!!!

And to think some of the critics were worried that a holiday CD wouldn't sell! :laugh Right now i believe he's on a pace to hit GOLD within a few weeks

Why not imagine Platinum status by Christmas !    They have shipped out over a million,  after all.   I'm expecting a higher number with this huge Thanksgiving shopping weekend than we had last week at 270,010 !    The media is saying the numbers for the public shopping in the past few days have been huge,   larger than the past few years.

That is,  if there were enough albums out there in the stores !   Several have been reported as sold out.

I'd like to see 300,000 by Tuesday night on HitsDailyDouble.   There is your Gold right there.   Then 150,000 to 200,000 the next three weeks to get to one million.    That would be nice.

Post by: nursingme on November 29, 2004, 06:59:46 PM
The numbeers are great and I wanted to make them even better, but walmart was sold out. I ask if they were getting the CD ansd the guy said I haven't seen any. i told him they had them because I bought 16,so are you getting anymore. Not sure he said. How can I share a little more Christmas spirit if the stores don't have them? Hey I also want to say that Fantasia and Ruben's cd's are in Walmart at a price of $8.88 and Clay's cd was$16.99. I don't understand the price deal. Maybe you can explain.

Ouestion? The numbers on the CD's . Do they also count the preorder ones from Amazon etc.? What about update on book sales? Also the numbers for the CD's(MOAM,MCWL,etc) are the ones sold international also counted in the numbers? I know this is a stupid question but ;I'm just trying to learn.

That info is harded to find than CD sales, but I'm looking!

No, those sales numbers are just for domestic sales. I understand that international sales are factored in for RIAA certification though, which determines gold or platinum status.

Bookscan Info
BookScan generally claims to represent between 70% and 75% of sales in the industry (Wal-Mart and some of the supermarket chains are among those who decline to report.) But a comparison with in-print figures supplied by publishers reveals that the numbers are more likely to represent about 65%, even after deducting for unsold books and returns.

STLClayCrazy-
Loved the blog! Glad that you enjoyed the Chicago concert. I wanted to drive up there to see that one also, but figured I was pushing my luck since I had just flown in the day before from Florida where I got to see Clay's Clearwater concert while I was graduating from my college distance learning program. I was everely disappointed that Clay was not in St. Louis this tour, but I still got to see him thankfully! Maybe the next time he is in St. Louis, we can plan to meet up- that is where I usually attend concerts since I live about 2 hours away in IL (near Hannibal, MO). Happy New Year and thanks for posting the link- it was wonderful to read your adventure diary!!

Thanks Pamela & clayMaine-iac for all the great updates!

As the GOOD NEWS keeps rolling in, I am so proud of OMC!!!!!

On a side note: The Rolling Stone (special Issue) People Of The Year (Dec. 30, 2004 Issue 964/965) has Merry Christmas With Love at Number #13 in the Top 40 Albums & a small blip about Clay on pg. 32 (under The Industry section)....paraphrased,  "So why did (cd) sales drop this fall despite the big business of U2, Eminem & other post-Thanksgiving  blockbusters such as Clay Aiken's Merry Christmas with Love & Destiny's Childs Destiny Fulfilled?..."

Although I will NEVER understand the music industry & all the politics it entails, IT WAS STILL VERY COOL to see Clay's Christmas album listed & recognized as a "BLOCKBUSTER" in R.S.!!!!!!
