Having a lunch today at Mom and Dad's for my aunt (mom's sis) they have lived beside one another for 30 years.  Her husband passed a year before Al, and she has wanted to move to Toronto to be near their daughter since then, she moves Monday.  Got all her sibs and my sibs together to have a little bon voyage for her, there will be wine :lol

SHARON, just got home and read this page, have to go and read the back pages than go take a little rest.  Those poems are priceless.  What would we do without you and your wisdom, your caring that keeps us to gether and now I find out you are a poet too????????   :lol :bouncy :smile :clap  I had a cocktail injected into my butt and it is making me very happy!!!

I was a mess today.  My breathing was worse than it has ever been.  Took me an hour an a half to get myself dressed and comb my hair as I had to keep sitting down and sucking my oxygen.  Have been crying most of the day it seems.  They didn't even weigh me today as I was in to bad of shape so that is one good thing. 

The change in my blood pressure medicine was great, had some good news for the doctor today in that department. First time ever my pulse has stayed under 100, I am thrilled and so was he. Usually my pulse stays around 110 to 120 and that is sitting down.  Always has been a problem for the doctors to control it. 

He has increased the dosage of my  antibioitics for the rhumetoid arithritis and wants to try that for a week to ten days to see if that clears the numbness and swelling of my foot. If it doesn't he is thinking the foot problem is related to the spine problem. Told me if I am still suffering so much with my spine fractures to go ahead and take the pain meds every four hours.  I told him I am not taking the morphine anymore as I think that is what was making me sick to my stomach that I am taking the Vicodin but it sure isn't as good as the morphine.

They gave me a shot of Steriod Cocktail and told me to go back to taking 10 mg of steriods a day that he didn't think it was worth the risk of my lungs to try and take me off of the steriods.  That is probably what has brought this breathing or I should say lack of breathing about is trying to get down to such a low dosage of steriods.  He has finally agreed with the specialist in Saginaw that I have been on the steriods so long in such high doses that my body is not capable of making its own steriods anymore.

Nothing seemed to help me breath today, the combivent inhaler, the nebulizer treatments or any of the pills plus I have the oxygen level set at 3 and still could hardly get a breath.  Bad day!!  So hopefully this steriod shot will give me a good boost towards increasing my steriod intake and hope to gosh I feel better.  Not to be able to walk around in the stores or do my own grocery shopping is pure cruelty to me if something will help me.  So I will take the steriods in higher doses if it helps the quality of my life.  Didn't want to bore anyone but didn't want to ignore those that asked about my doctors appointment either. 

Shirley, I'm so sorry you had a shitty day, yep it was shitty. You deserve to enjoy every day of your life, makes me angry that you can't seem to catch a break from these damn pills :bang I hope the butt shot gives you relief.  How has your appetite been???  Have you eaten at least OK??? :hugg :hugg

OK I'm out to dinner with two friends who are sisters who just lost their wonderful father :hugg We meet a couple times a year for dinner, think I'll be sticking to salad though, ate too well last night and today. See you later :wave

I made my first purchase on ebay yesterday, black Rieker stretch dress boots :clap I can't wear any height of heel for business anymore, these have a low solid heel. TMI :wave

SHARON, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning.  I know you must get tired doing that every day for us.  I am here sitting and sucking on the nebulizer.  They say partly cloudy here and I will say partly sunny, a high of 58 today .  My gosh I opened the door wall to let the puppies out this morning and it seemed like spring compared to what it has been, I believe they said it was 47 here this morning  yesterday it was 28 in the morning.  Do they have fresh baked goods at Market?  Is Market only on Saturday?  Is it outside or inside?  I bet your mom is going to feel lost with her sister gone.  That is a long time to live next to  your family and than they move.  I do hope the sister is happy when she moves next to her daughter sometimes it doesn't work out all the great, I am a prime example of that.

Shirley the market we go to is in Mennonite country, and in the summer runs four days a week, now through winter only two days a week. It is inside and outside til it gets too cold, then the seasonal vendors hibernate for the winter :lol The fresh baked goods are amazing, butter tarts are made with fresh maple syrup, sticky buns, pies, cookies anything your heart desires.
We all wish Helen the best in her move, she is a very young, active 74, but still, most of her family and friends are here, we'll see. Shirley, she and mom really never saw eye to eye in later years, they "tolerate" each other, mom is fiesty, Woody was always the smoother over :lol Helen still smokes, mom hates the smell of smoke on her, and is bold enough to tell her, sometimes mom needs a filter :lol
None of the family think it will last in Toronto for her, but she's alone since her hubby passed a couple years ago, and feels she wants to be near Michelle.

 :clap  Sharon,  my sis and I both ordered a different style Rieker boot last fall in chestnut which is fairly casual (Rieker Lea 76).  I fell in love with the black version then when it came out, and asked for a pair for Christmas!  So I'm a "Reiker gal" too!  I can't really wear heels, either.  (I've never worn those beautiful boots I showed you guys a couple years ago; they have a pretty high heel. :bang)

Shirley, I would be willing to bet good money that it is the Vicoden that is making your stomach so sick. I take Percocet and I have no trouble with it at all. You should ask your doctor about trying them. I have a very sensitive stomach and am very susceptible to any meds, but have no ill affects to the Percocet. I take the MS Contin only twice a day and the other for break through pain. Who knws, it just might work for you.
Sorry I haven't been on in 2 days but have had a difficult time with the shot this time. It is just this morning that I can see decently.
Yesterday was Paul's birthday and would you believe I forgot :clap I remembered early enough to get away with it. I just called the kids and asked them to come over and luckily I had some extra cards in the desk with cats on them so he wouldn't know that I forgot to get one. Then I hid the cards in his news paper and later in the day I went downstairs and said why haven't you opened your cards acting like they had been there all morning! Slick huh? Believe me, he would never forget it if he knew I forgot. I knew his birthday was on the 6th, but being so out of it with the meds for the eye, I just did not realize it was the 6th!!!
I will try to be back later. I am going to go clean the basement while Paul is on his bike ride. He will not let me throw stuff out so I do it when he is not home

SHARON, Market day is somewhere that KAREN and I need to go to.  Sounds like those baked goods are calling our names.   Yummmm !!!   Yep  your mom's sister might do fine hope so.  I know sometimes you are better off living near your friends.  I know I only have one sister and we are complete opposites.  We get along as long as we don't live near each other.  There is 4 1/2 years difference in our age, she is the older one but sure looks a lot younger than I do.  She never had children she just had husbands, four of them she couldn't live with .  When you get home tell me about the goodies you bought  Do they sell fresh churned butter?

MARY, yep was missing you being here.  I will ask about that medicine Mary.  I know the morphine I was on as soon as I stopped taking that and got it out of my system I wasn't so nauseated anymore. 

KAREN, nice boots!!  Are they waterproof for the snow?  I can't believe how nice it is here.  Sunny and 59 degrees.  HORRAY, what a treat to see the sunshine.  KAREN  you sure have a lot to do today.  can you enlist some help such as getting one of the boys to clean the floors?????

It's so warm here, I had to turn the a/c on. Can you believe it. I'm not complaining, I love this weather.

Well, I made  pineapple cream cookies today and then a white chocolate rum truffle. That' s enough for one day. Boy, I remember the days when I used to make four different kinds in one day,  but no more.

My life has been on "fast forward".  I worked yesterday and then my two brothers came here from Green Bay to take Mom out for supper . . . but she didn't feel well, so they took ME out to supper.  We had so darn much fun laughing and talking.  They brought me home and then visited Mom (kind of late). :blush  This morning I met 3 of the coworkers who worked with me at the "old" hospital.  We went for brunch (kind of) north of Oconto.  Then we visited more at a park.  The weather was absolutely beautiful. 

Tomorrow morning (Sunday), I will be going to an Elk's Club sponsored pancake, sausage and egg breakfast to benefit the new little hospital here in Oconto (where I am employed).  Tim, Derek, Lexie, Mike and Nancy will come with me.  (That is not their idea of a good time). :smile  Tomorrow afternoon, Lexie, Nancy and I will meet my sister in Green Bay and we have tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It would be so neat if we all lived closer and could share some of these experiencee. :hugg    

SOOOO . . . by tomorrow night, I will be exhausted, but very satisfied. My house is looking kind of "needy", but I haven't been home much. I will have my nose to the grindstone both at work and at home for the next couple of weeks. We pay for our thrills. :bigsmile

Well, for the first time in about 15 years, I actually went to the movie theater!  I went to see This Is It and was really enjoying it until he got to Billie Jean.  Then....an overwhelming sense of sadness overtook me and I'm so danged depressed now.  What a waste of such genius.

Anyway...hope everyone is doing okay.  Maybe I can watch a little "White Collar" and get my mind off MJ.  *sniff*

We have discovered a Smoked Gouda with pimento spread in the deli of one of our stores that is yummy!!    The store is a one of a kind grocery store and we will actually go in just for this one cheese spread!!

PRISSY -   You can be an "honorary" cheesehead!  :smile  Smoked Gouda is delicious, but never had it like a pimento spread.  Isn't it fun when you "discover" a delicacy in a one of a kind store?

This will be my 3rd TSO concert.  It is such a delightful blend of classical and rock music with amazing performances and special effects. I love the hauntingly beautiful Christmas message that they bring.  Will you get a chance to see it this year, PRISSY?

Remember the guy up there with the sunglasses? Someone actually put his UM performance at DFF last night in mp3 format on CU. The voice is still there and dreamy. It is much nicer to wake up in the morning when the sun is coming out instead of waking to dark clouds.  Wished the sun would stay around a little longer.

SHARON, let's see I will take some pumpkin tarts to try.  Hubby likes Baby Swiss cheese, about all he will eat.  I like Colby cheese and mild Cheddar.  Love Blue Cheese sprinkled on my salad. 

PRISSY, glad to see you here, Tennessee was big on Pimento cheese spread.  They made theirs with colby cheese, I find it here in Northern Michigan made with American cheese. 

BARB, YOU, SHARON, PRISSY and EVELYN give me faith that there are people out there that aren't sick and they are enjoying their life.  Keep going never mind the house work.  I am sorry now all the times I didn't get out and do more cause I thought I needed to take care of the house.

Actually Becky you can do both :lol at room temperature it's one of my favorite cheeses.  Add some spanish onion to it in a sandwich and it's a Waterloo County delicacy served in many of our wonderful country hotels in small towns around Kitchener/Waterloo.  The mennonites make some of the best :clap
I think Woody also used it on the manifold of his younger brother's car when he got married :giggle

Joe got outta the slammer last night. So did the neighbor he was fighting with. I was actually at the movies with the gal who lives on the OTHER side of Joe. She told me first that he was being arrested.  :bduh

Joey has been TRYING to stay at dad's again.  :para They went to a counselor and worked out an agreement so Joey said he'd TRY. (He left most of his stuff here though...just in case)
Pretty sure Joe will be kicked outta the park now anyway. Apparently, the cops are called on him quite often. Last night, JOE was the one calling 911...and the cops arrested him for filing false 911 calls! Plus, when he said the neighbor sprayed him in the face with the pesticide...cops didn't believe him and thought he sprayed himself. :para

And sooo....the drama continues.... :lol

Linda, so sorry you are hurting so bad.  Guess what since you have been hounding me, and beating me up to ride the little rides at Walmart I actually did it.  Horray for me!!!  How funny!  I do think with me driving I need a horn on them though.  I kept dragging my foot when I would turn corners though Don said it looked like I was drag racing!!  Ha!  I didn't do to bad.  Kind of went faster in my jump starts and made Don look out at the corners to make sure no traffic was coming.  But I did it thanks to you for keeping on me, at least now I can actually last a good half hour looking at things at Walmart.  You are indeed a good friend to keep after me like that.  I just got home at 1:30 and took another pain pill but I am on a high even though it is hard to breath I am happy as I got to do a little shopping.  THANKS to you!

Linda - Thanks for letting us know that Shirley finally used one of the carts at Walmarts'.  I myself have used them a couple of times.  It sure does make it easier to get around that big store and not have to cut the trip short because I was to tired.
I have to admit that the first time I used one, I had this big grin on my face.   :bigsmile   
The corners are a bit tricky, and when I over shot, I had to back up.   :slick
You know how construction trucks have that 'beep-beep' when they backup?  The powered carts do too.  :blush

PEGGY,  :wave yep it does give me the feeling of accomplishment  :lol after being in the house pretty much for the past year it does put a smile on your face to do those quick corners with out tearing the shelves out!!   :lol

It took me a few tries before I got turning the corners without almost knocking someone down too. 
It sure did make a difference though.  I didn't dread going to the store.

Sharon mentioned a Mennonite bakery in their market. We live in Amish country and their pies and bread are really good. We also have a new bakery. It's "Cops and Doughnuts". The whole police force of a small town bought a bakery that was going out of business. We checked it out the other day and they make some g o o d stuff. I had a thing that was oatmeal, nuts, dates, etc., with a juicy substance dripped on top. It was chewy and wonderful. That's why I have to lose weight. They also have several clever t-shirts, etc. We got our DIL some pink shorts that say BUNS N GUNS on the cheeks. She used to be a police officer. Besides, I have to get even with her for the panties she had "decorated" for me last year.  :wink

Sharon, hooray for your leaves and eaves being cleared out!!! Jim is still working on ours. He has made several trips with truckloads to dump in our friend's lot at our friend's request. He also burned several piles last night.

Shirley, a new world has opened for you. My mom even drove the scooter at the grocery store. We took her there after 10pm the first time so she wouldn't be so intimidated. She, too, had a big smile on her face, just like you and Peggy. Fortunately, the lady at the store unplugged it for her and gave her a lesson.  :clap  :bigsmile

Well, neither Riley nor Peyton have caught the flu yet. Knock on wood. I have to go to MSU tomorrow for my mammogram so I'll drop in on them. DIL has been sick, though.

I downloaded the latest youtube rip and absolutely loved it. He must have been practicing because he got all the words right.  :lmao  It only took 3 1/2 hours.

Gee I didn't sleep to much last night.  By 1:30 am I was awake and couldn't go back to sleep until almost 3:00.  Guess riding around and having fun yesterday really activated me.   :lol :bouncy :roflmao :shappy 

BECKY, sure glad the other children didn't get the flu.  Hope that mamogram comes out perfect!!!! Leaves, and more leaves will they ever stop blowing from the next street over to our yard.  My husband swears this is what is happening.  No sun here today but it is quite warm this morning.

BRENDA, are you okay?  How are you feeling now?  When is  your colon test scheduled?  The big boost of steriods has helped me some and getting out yesterday has really helped.  I think the depression drags me down further but I am feeling good mentally today. 

EVELYN, while I could get out yesterday I measured that book and found a mailing envelope to put it in.  I thought if I kept waiting for hubby to find a box that would fit it the book would take forever to get mailed.  So will get it addressed and get it out to you.  Those cookies sound fabulous.  I don't remember you making those truffles before. 

SHARON, that chicken and sweet potatoes sounded real good to me.  I just cooked some bacon and now I will go fix a egg and see if I can eat it.  Sometimes I think something tastes good and will go to the trouble of fixing it and I will take one bite and throw it away. 

KAREN, hope your house got all cleaned for your company and you got that birthday cake baked.  Hope you enjoyed the weekend but I bet you were tired!!!!

MARILYN, have you started the new diet  yet?  How is your sugar?  Has it dropped quite abit since you lost the weight?

Oh Bozena, it's so tough with weight, has to be such a commitment I know all too well :hugg unfortunately we are the only ones that can help ourselves.  A Dr. can help you through the rough stuff, but in the end it has to be you who keeps you there.  Too easy to slip and say oh well, I've put on 5, I'll work on that, 5 turns into 10 really easily :bang I think most of us have been there, it's not nice and gets you down :hugg

Bozena - I know how discouraging it is, but just keep trying, honey. I know you can do it. Why don't you start weight watchers again. Maybe being with others will help. I truly can't say anything because I haven't lost any myself and neither has Matt.

Shirley - the truffles are something new.

WHITE CHOCOLATE RUM TRUFFLES

  12 ounces white chocolate chips
   2 tablespoons butter, softened
   1/2 cup whipping cream
   1/2 cup powdered sugar
   1 teaspoon rum extract (you can use rum if you wish, but don't use more than a tablespoon)
   1 package of heath toffee chips

   In a  2 quart saucepan, heat whipping cream over low heat until very hot, but not boiling ( 6 to 8 minutes). Remove from heat. stir in white chocolate chips and butter until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Stir in powdered sugar and rum extract until smooth. Refrigerate until firm enough to shape (at least 3 hours or even overnight)
 
   To make truffles, shape into 1/2 " to 3/4" balls (mixture will be soft; a small cookie dough scoop works well ).  Roll in toffee chips. Place in small paper cups. These freeze well.

This dough even when refrigerated tends to be soft so a small scoop is perfect for helping to shape them. I make them small because they are so rich. But they are delicious.

Now Sharon - how in the world are we supposed to lose weight eating this. :lol :lol

The next truffle I make will be a bailey's irish cream truffle, dipped in white chocolate and then drizzle some dark chocolate on top of the white chocolate. I haven't made those yet.

Today I made a struesal caramel that I cut into diamond shapes.  (Shirley, another new one).

Brenda - I meant to tell you. I was listening to the Dr on Fox news and he was talking about colon cancer.  He said 2 baby asperins a day would lower your chances of getting it and even if you have it, it will help reduce the size of the cancer. I thought I'd pass that along to you.

Didn't get to see DWTS. Steamboat puked all over the downstairs carpet and while Emiley was cleaning that up, he went upstairs and did the same thing. Good thing they have a carpet cleaner. He's such a sweet dog, but he has lots of tumors and is really slowing down. This was a new thing.

Bozena, so good to see you. So sorry you gained the weight back. Losing weight is just about the hardest thing ever to do. Everyone has different goals and different ways to get there, but few are able to do it. But it is worth the effort. You were so excited when you were doing well that it was contagious.  :hugg  Good luck getting back on track.

Nope....24th.  I'm stuck at 22 pounds.  *sigh*  I'm still on the Atkins diet until I see the dietician, but I've apparently hit a plateau, dang it.

I agree with you about Mya and Dimitry, Shar.  I also agree that there's something about Joanna.  I love Derek, but...not so much her.  Derek does the most amazing choreography, though, so I hate to see him go.  In any event, I think of the celebs, Mya is WAY better than the rest of them.  Just my opinion, though.

Shirley, my sister Cynthia is coming in on Monday, Nov. 23 and leaving Tuesday, Dec. 1.  I am still having Dave's family for Thanksgiving; just doing it the Saturday before Thanksgiving instead (that's less than 2 wks away!!! :para).  That way, we can spend Thanksgiving Day with my family for a change.  I talked to her for over an hour last night!  Will be good to be able to talk in person.

My Matt and his girlfriend split up in late August, and she is living with another guy already.  She was really cold about the breakup.  I think Matt wasn't ambitious enough for her.  We are thinking that in the long run, the breakup was a good thing.  She likes to spend and is pretty bossy.  But Matt was/still is really upset.  They were together 3 years.

Sharon, I wonder why you feel that way about Joanna? :bduh  I think she is beautiful but doesn't act like she knows it, which is appealing to me.  I think she works very hard (they all do tho).  Well, maybe your woman's intuition is right, and I'm rooting for the wrong team!!  :lol

Morning ladies,

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. Have been very busy (when not sleeping or eating). Can't remember everything, but Saturday was gone all day - Emily had a swim meet in Fremont, OH. She had 3 first place finishes and 1 second place - not too shabby. She was just flying; it was exciting.   Sunday we hung out at Julie's and again got home late. Yesterday had to take Cristien to Julie's for pick up and then to Bowling Green for Em's quiz bowl meet - unfortunately they lost that one (but Em did well). Both girls got their report cards - all A's, as usual. Tonight is Caity's soccer game - haven't been to one this season so far because I was in the hospital or too ill so am looking forward to this one - mixed team, boys and girls. Should be interesting. Tomorrow I have two doctor appts and should have the colonoscopy scheduled. My electrolytes are still off so will find out what the next step for that will be. Am hoping I won't have to take the shots in my abdomen again - am still bruised from those. Found out last night from Dan that they will probably be able to remove all the colon cancer during the colonoscopy - that is a really good thing - and that I probably won't even need chemo or radiation. As for the lung spot, won't know for another six months if it is malignant - am praying it is not since I have now been informed that I am not a candidate for lung surgery. Dan said I would most likely die on the table so really need your prayers that this is just scar tissue. Anyway, have been busy. Eating like a pig - have gained over 5 lbs since I got home from the hospital (darn it). Just can't seem to stop eating and going out so often doesn't help - just have no resistance now it seems. Will get back on the diet soon.  Darn, now I'm hungry again, figures!

Got my roof fixed - had to replace my 'vents" (I think that's what they are called). They were dry rotting (from all the sun) and that's where my leak was coming from. He also replaced and fixed a few loose shingles, so I'm all set for a while. Whew - what a relief! My light fixture in the kitchen dried out and is working again - no replacement necessary.

Shirley, so glad you got out. I ride those motorized carts around the stores too - not always, but if I feel weak or tired or out of breath, I certainly do ride them. I will say it again - you would definitely qualify for a free motorized chair or scooter so you could get out and about more easily. Medicare would most certainly approve one for you and pay for it. I don't understand why you don't get one. If I qualified, I know you would. I try not to use the motorized things since the exercise is good for me but if I were you I certainly would get one and use it. Just ask your doctor to prescribe one for you - he can hook you up with a dealer who will come to your home and do all the paperwork, etc. for you. DO IT! You could wheel around your house and your yard and anywhere else you would like to go.

Becky, I'm sorry the kids are getting the flu. I do hope you have had your shot (I haven't yet but will when it is available to me - will be asking my doctor tomorrow). Take care of yourself. BTW, did you get your mammogram done?

Bozena, sorry about the weight - easy to gain, hard to lose. I'm mad at myself for gaining back those few pounds so easily and quickly. I worked hard to lose it. You did it before; you can do it again.

Sharon, hope you are enjoying your free afternoon - those are rare for you.

Cindy, how good to hear from you. We do miss you when you are gone for so long. Hope you get some days off to rest up after your Mexican ordeal. I concur - I hope they pay you what you're worth - they sure work  you a lot.

Karen, I too think Matt was lucky that relationship ended now instead of later. I'm sure he will have no problem 'replacing' her with someone much better.

SHARON -  It was fantastic.  Loved it!  They did two shows that day in Green Bay and we were at the 3:15 PM performance.  So much talent . . . and some great looking guys . . dressed in tuxedos and most of them had long shiny hair!  Classical Rock . . . lots of electric guitars, drums and violins!  They tell a beautiful Christmas story. Add special effects, with laser lights, and actual flames and fireworks.  :clap  We ate about 7 PM at Chili's.  I had a chicken fajita.   :yum

SHIRLEY - Loved your shopping trip with the use of a motorized chair.  I had the chance to see BRENDA using hers in Canada . . . and it is a wonderful invention!  Is your appetite getting any better??  Stop over here tonight for supper.  Having baked ham, a sweet potato and a tossed salad.  :blush

BRENDA - Loved reading your long post today.  :hugg  Your Caity and Emily certainly are very smart and so talented.  Glad you can enjoy watching them.  Thanks for asking about Tim and little Derek.  At this time, all parties live in Oconto - but ex-DIL has found a boyfriend in another state . . . and wants to take Derek and move there.  I think we are going to see lots of action in the court room.  Hope things are peaceful for Christein at this time.

KAREN - Your bean soup sure opened up a conversation. If I had money, I'd invest some of it in Oust stock.  :bigsmile

CINDY -  It is always great to see your green letters.  We miss you when we don't hear from you.  Have you gotten to see your folks lately??  I liked it when you shared some of your hotel experiences and how your travels often allowed you to have a meal or two with your Mom or Dad.  Sure hope we can all get together this spring or summer.  :hugg

BRENDA, so happy to see your posts I was getting worried about you.  Sounds like you are to busy!!!  I don't understand how the doctors can tell you that you have colon cancer without a biopsy of the colon.  I will just hope that they are really wrong.  I am praying for you my friend, don't intend on anything happening to you.  I am fine and need to walk as much as I can.  I still have the wheel chair and if I can't walk and it is going to last than I will apply for one of those motorized chairs.  But as long as these legs carry me around I am going to use them all I can.  Thanks for thinking of me though that means so darn much to me.

It's okay, Sharon, I didn't know him.  Well I did meet him once.  Did want to support my brother-in-law tho.  We are not going up now.  I went down to meet David at the office at 5pm, and he wasn't done working.  He had a very difficult case at the end of the day and ran over, so it got too late to go. :arg  I guess I'll send BIL a nice sympathy card instead.

DIL and granddaughters were having a religious discussion tonight. She was reading a book about Noah to them. Maddey asked "If God made the world, who made God?" DIL said, "God". Then she was asking about the people who don't believe in "our" God. Could not believe the depth of the questions she was asking. The kids' school is a melting pot of children from many countries, many mixed race and ethnic groups. Most are part of the MSU community.

Peyton got four shots tonight and an aural something or other. Poor baby.

KAREN, I was just really surprised that Len liked Joann' and Derk's dance routine.  Love Kelly and how hard she is trying but everyone can't win.  I just have always loved Mya and how she can change her appearances and facial expressions.  Have to say I have never heard of her before this show though.

Just got back from Caity's soccer games - they played a doubleheader one at 8:00 and another at 9:00 pm. Boy, they looked beat, but they were awesome, won both rather handily.

Didn't get back from the doctor appts until 6:30 - long day. Like my new Internist and Gastroenterologist. The colonoscopy is scheduled on 12/02. He said he would have no trouble removing that spot - whatever it is - during the scope - said he had removed them twice that big without any problem. Had more blood work this morning and my electrolytes are still quite screwed up though. They put me back on potassium and magnesium, and my calcium is creeping back up - still normal but high normal. Dan said I will have to have a lot more tests to try to figure out why this keeps happening. See my nephrologist tomorrow for that.  Oh well.

Sharon, you are such a social butterfly - good for you. Wish I were more socially inclined but just not me.  But --- good for you.

Shirley, sorry you didn't like Derek and Joanna's futuristic paso - I have to say I thought it was incredible, very innovative and very well choreographed. I think Derek is a genius. BTW, if you watch the Ballroom championships (which I do watch on PBS every year), they actually do many things like this - in the free style portion of the competition. It really is ballroom dancing. I also like Mya and Dimitry, but am a big Derek fan! I still miss Julianne.

Hated to see Aaron go, too, as I thought he was getting better and was so good on some of his later dances. Oh Well, someone has to go. I think it will probably be Kelly next week. It's hard because they are all good (Mya and Joanna are the best, however, IMO).

Cindy, GOOD FOR YOU! Quitting smoking is the smartest thing you could do for yourself (and others). I wish I could go back - that is the one thing I would definitely change - no smoking ever!  It is horrid to not be able to breathe, plus all the other consequences it has. I know you can do it - and so can Rob! Wish we could see you dancing. It is great that Rob likes it too.

Sharon, wow, you are not just learning to cook - you are becoming a gourmet chef! I think it is terrific that you have found something that you enjoy doing (and eating), and can share with your friends.

Well, off to try to get some work done before my next doc appt this afternoon (the nephrologist). (I'm getting tired of doctors).

I, too, was sad to see Aaron leave; he had toned down and was dancing much better (he was just plain too enthusiastic earlier).  But I would've hated to see anyone else leave either, as I have a soft spot for all now.  Wish I could've seen the olympic swimmer last a couple of more weeks; I think she had potential.

Cindy -  :hugg   I know you smoked, but I didn't think that you were a heavy smoker.  The physical addiction lasts only about 4 - 5 days.  After that it is the mental addiction.
I just remember that I wanted to quit for quite a while, but couldn't get it accomplished until my mind was really behind it.  I have never been sorry, and I really don't even miss it.  Now I don't even like going into a restaurant that has smoking in it.   :slick  I KNOW that you will feel SO much better after a few weeks.  You and Rob are going to really see the difference in so many things.  (I'm assuming that he will continue to be smoke free too.)   :bouncy 

When ever you used to light up, change what you were doing.  If you would sit at the table and have a coffee and a cigarette, change to having your coffee in a different spot or doing a crossword puzzle or something.  Sometimes that really helps. 

My sister used to do ballroom dancing and LOVED it!  Great exercise too.



Well, I'm getting ready to go and babysit.  I can't believe how fast the girls are growing.

CINDY, good luck to you.  I think stopping smoking is very hard to do ask Dudley and Glory!!!!!!!!!  I don't smoke anymore either, but there are times that I want a cigg so bad.  Maybe that is why I can't drink coffee as it triggers wanting a cigg.  Plus talking on the phone I think about smoking.  I know my sister after five years says there are days she wants to smoke so bad.  So I guess some people are more addicted than others.  I think if you quit smoking so you could dance so should Rob do his part and quit to pay for his part in the dancing.  I am so glad you are continuing and that you like the ballroom dancing.    I am glad you quit smoking now as if you would continue and your lungs get worse they would never heal or get better again.  They might not get worse but they can not heal their selves.  Good luck to you my Gemini Twin!!!!!!!!!  Love ya!

Sharon, thanks for asking about me. I am ok, just very busy. I am not making pumpkin rolls yet. We are re doing the basement bathroom, the living room and switching bedrooms. I am taking the bigger one and Paul the smaller. I spend a lot of time in bed and he just goes to sleep in his. No smart a$$ remarks!!  :lmao :lmao :roflmao :bduh :slick :naughty I ordered new living room furniture and finally a new mattress for me! So that means painting and cleaning and all that good suff. I am hurting really bad so my son in law is doing the painting but I still have to clean. I am cleaning out closets and stuff like that. I have selves up over my desk in the den and I am getting rid of them too. Way too much stuff gets thrown on them!! I am really trying to get rid of what I don't use all the time and just collects dust! I am giving my curio cabinet away along with my crystal. That is going to save a lot of work!
We also are having a lot of problems, personal ones and I just am not ready to talk about them yet. I am asking for prayers for my daughter and Brandon.  I promise I will tell you all about it but right now it is just to devastating and I am having a hard time with it.
So anyway that is why I have been MIA a little. I will be even busier in the next few days shopping for new window treatments and a new stand for the new TV. Stuff like that. Plus Paul"s birthday was last week and Tony's is this week. I am having his birthday dinner here Sunday. I might not have any living room furniture but seeing as half the people that will be here will be here doing some type of work. Either installing tile or painting or carpeting I am not to worried about it. If we need to we can eat in the basement. I have a kitchen and living room there too. Just don't know if the tooilet will be hooked up yet. TMI?
My dinner is done so I am going to say toodles for now.  But remember I love you all!

Mary - My prayers are with you.  You know you are loved and we will all keep you in our prayers.

Did someone say CRISPY BACON??????  I will try some of that with a nice poached egg!!  Thank you SHARON for the breakfast.  As busy as you are I am surprised you are up so early in the mornings.  Went to the grocery store yesterday for a while at least I had to get dressed and got out of the house, that is a good thing.  Went to buy some fresh Alaskan cod that was advertised and ended up spending $160 and didn't buy they cod as they sold out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :naughty  This store has so many good things it is bad for me to go there.  But I fixed  a great sweet potato, fresh broccoli and pork spare ribs for dinner, it was very good and I enjoyed it. 

 Has anyone ever made cauliflower soup??????????

Morning my Shirley :wave This is very similar to my mom's recipe :yum

Serves/Makes:   6

   
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 celery rib, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 head cauliflower, trimmed and cut into florets
1 quart reduced sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste


 

Directions:

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and garlic and cover. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables soften, about 3 minutes.

Add the cauliflower and broth, bring to a boil over high heat.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, partially covered, until the cauliflower is very tender, about 30 minutes.

Transfer the soup in batches to a blender and process until smooth.

Pour the pureed soup into a large bowl (if you have an immersible hand-blender, you can puree the soup right in the pot). Stir in Parmesan.

Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.

SHARON, hubby and I was just reading your recipe for the cauliflower soup we both thank you so much.  I have this  huge head of cauliflower so beautiful and pure white.  I will use half of it and make the soup.   Yep it is beautiful out today nice and sunny and no snow.

Got a pretty clean bill of health from my nephrologist. My kidneys have recovered. Have to get frequent blood draws to check my electrolyes for a while and stop taking the supplements to see if I can hold my own, but otherwise okay, I guess. Will be seeing the one we all liked the next appointment next month. Still have to do the colonoscopy first week in December, but the GI doc said no problem at all removing whatever it is on my colon - I like him a lot. Sooo, things are looking up. Just have to keep well hydrated.  They are thinking it might have been caused by the Reclast infusion I had in the springtime, but not certain. Who knows?

Karen, sounds like so much fun - can we dance vicariously thru you and Rob?  Do you get all glammed up for these dance things?

BRENDA,  :hugg good news indeed.  So suspecting the Reclast huh?  When the doctor suggested I have the IV of the Reclast  I said I would think about it.  When I came home I read everything I could on the internet on the Reclast and decided no way did I want that.  I sure hope you continue to do well and your kindneys do not suffer.  My uric acid is still high and the potassium still a little low.  I drink a quart of gatorade a day and two potassium pills a day.  The pills weren't doing it after I got home from the hospital and I talked to SHARON and she told me to drink the gatorade which I did.  My potassium levels went up the first week and told the doctor about drinking the gatorade and he said keep doing it as it is working.  I go next week for more blood tests to see how I am doing.

KIM, there you are sweet thing!!!  How are you feeling?  Yep CLAY asks for it doesn't he.  I think he needs to grow  up a little , his blog sounded like a teenager wrote it also.  Sometimes I wonder about him if he is not his worse enemy who stops his career from growing.

Did you get an email from ebay from the seller, giving you a tracking number and saying your item was shipped?  Some of the sellers do that, but not all.  Usually the Power Sellers.  Did your seller have a good satisfaction rating?

I have a wonderful mixed nut recipe to share with all of you.  I went to the dollar store and got some little Christmas tins to put them in to use as hostess gifts etc.  Took a tin last night and all three girls wanted the recipe!

Curried mixed nuts

2 cups pecan halves
2 cups cashews
2 cups whole almonds
1/4 cup melted butter
1 teas tobasco
4 teas curry powder
2 cups raisins

Preheat to 300.  Place nuts in a bowl, melt butter, add tobasco and curry powder, mix then pour over nuts and toss.  Spread on baking sheet.  Bake 30 min stir now and again, sprinkle a little salt on nuts and put on paper towels, let cool.  Add raisins and toss again~~~voila!!!

Um, yesterday I lost my cell phone at a suburban train station during the morning rush.  So I asking those RTM SISTAH'S for your phone numbers again through a pm so I can reprogram them into my new phone.

Well I could take this kind of weather all winter long.  Last year at this time it was snowing like mad.  It always or almost always snows for opening day of deer season, my least favorite time of the  year.

I am very sore but that is because I have been doing a little more each day.  I dusted today in my hubby's room haven't done that in 6 months or so.  Haven't done anything for so long.  I ended up making potato  corn chowder I also melt swiss cheese in it and sprinkle it with dill.  I had bought two little round loves of bread and hollowed them out for soup bowls and now I am just going to have a cottage cheese and pineapple salad.  Oh I also baked a pan of brownies, so I did pretty good today just tired and sore now.  See everyone later.

I am going to dinner tonight with the wonderful couple I join a few times a year for the horse races and dinner and stuff, Len was a good friend of Al's, we coupled together latter on in our marriage, he helped Al with his satellite dish :wink his wife did Al's income tax.

I'm not a big fish eater other salmon, but I do like a cod or tilapia sandwish from time to time.  And grilled swordfish.  :yum  If those are wormy, then I guess I like worms! (cooked, that is!)  I think they talk about pork that way, too.  That's why pork has to be cooked to well done.  Am I right about that? :bduh

Karen, a chef friend of ours, owns and operates a 5 star restaurant, has said you don't have to overcook pork, it's OK to cook it a little less and have some pink in the middle.  That's how I have been cooking all the pork loin roasts I have been serving to company, and it's been succulent.  My mom would never have pink in the middle, she wouldn't eat it, some are not comfortable I guess.

Making a mushroom/ barley soup and some blackforest ham sammies to take for dinner with mom and my sis tonight :bouncy The soup is pre pack of seasonings, cooked barley and stuff that you add the fresh mushrooms, ground sirloin and chicken broth etc. to finish :yum kind of an overcast day here thought some comfort food was just what we needed.

Soup smells wonderful, ham sammies are made, taking a pan of date squares and thermos of coffee too :yum

Becky - They are nothing like pudding cups. These are delicious and a rich cream . And they are realy not hard to make. Bet you could make them in a flash. :lol :lol :lol

Amaretto Pastry Puffs.

2 sheets Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry (1 box)


6 ounces cream cheese
4 tablespoons butter, softened
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
1-1/2 cups whipping cream
4 tablespoons amaretto

powdered sugar

Let pastry sheets thaw and then flour your board and roll each sheet slightly. Cut into 1-3/4 inch squares. place on cookie sheet that you cover with parchment paper. Use a sharp knife and the sheets will cut easily. Place on parchment paper. Preheat oven to 425 degrees and bake squares for about 10 minutes.  Using a spatula take off cookie sheets and let cool

While squares are cooling make cream

In a mixer, combine cream cheese and butter, beat on high until smooth.  Beat in granulated sugar.  Add whipping cream and amaretto, and beat with electric mixer until beater, when lifted , holds its shape so that mixture is thick.

Cut each square in half with serrated knife, and put a mound of cream on bottom, then place the top on. Place conf. sugar in a bowl and roll the puff in this sugar. 
 
That it, Becky, told you it was easy, but it is expensive.  Try it. Cream is luscious.
 

Becky - Just remember with whipping cream, if you beat it too much , it will curdle, but you want to beat it enough to hold it's shape.

Well, I got to see my little grandbabies today.  I have to tell you all something that just touched my heart!  Dylan was on the couch with his laptop computer (my son's old one) on the arm of the couch showing me how he plays his "games" on line.  It was a match-type game (like the old Concentration, but with only 12 circles--you know--for kids).  Anyway...I was sitting on the floor in front of him watching him play.  When he finished one game, he kind of leaned back on the couch, looked down at me and said..."I love you."  Man...I melted.  He will usually tell me that after I've said it first, but to have him say that just outta the blue...  *sigh*..

Did someone say crispy bacon??????   Yes I will have some of that French toast to with butter and warm maple syrup.  Yummm Thanks so much SHARON!!!!!!!  Oh ShARON what did you put on your ham sandwiches????  I had roast beef sandwiches from a wonderful left over beef roast.  I sliced it thin and covered it with sliced onion and fresh sliced mushrooms and simmered it for a while and than layed swiss cheese over the top and cooked till melted.  Put kaiser buns under the broiler to brown and put meat mixture  in bun.  Very easy and oh so good.  But heck we ate early at 4:00 and it was so dang dark at 5:30 we felt it was time to go to bed for the night.

MARILYN, those are special memories for sure as the little guy was saying that to you from his heart.  Little guys aren't political!!  :lol Computer games my gosh how old is Dylan?

I'll tell you...I don't know how these celebrities who never danced before can look so good.  Even the stars who we think stink really learn so much.  They seriously must practice 24/7 to look like they do.  We've been at it off and on for a year now and have only learned 4-5 steps in each of the dances.  Sometimes we spend an entire lesson on two pieces of technique for one dance.  I can't imagine having to learn a complete choreographed Viennese Waltz in one week! They must really take it to heart when they get slammed by the judges.   

You saying that little Sis, really puts the work they do into perspective, no wonder they get frustrated :lol I am a slow learner, need to practice, practice practice, I would be such a pain the butt to teach :lol

Kim,  I wish my Justin had the same work ethic about school that Joey does!  He is taking four classes that would earn him 5.0 instead of 4.0, and has an opportunity to really raise his GPA, yet he doesn't seem to study much and is happy with B's because it's still a 4.0.  Maybe he'll work harder, now that the school soccer program is over.
Joey does realize that a B+ is still over a 4.0 for that class, doesn't he??  He worries too much!! :hugg

Karen, I had bought my brown ones here so knew the size.  I have a wide foot so actually got a size bigger than usual, even though they suggested a size smaller on the site, I would have had the wrong size had I not gotten a pair here first, karma huh??? :lol
Still paid more here, last season clearout than these with the shipping.  I just saw them on another site too for $99, no shipping charge.  Mine were $39 + $21 shipping, still better.  Our dollar is so close to US right now it worked out well!!

Joey is funny. He convinces himself that no college will have him if he gets a B! He even high-tailed it to the office after his  English class let out today and had his transcripts sent out to colleges before the new grading period gets on there ...just in case that B drops his GPA. Counselor TOLD him he'd still have a 4.0 and it doesn't show individual grading periods...but he insisted on sendin em anyway...right then. :lol


If Justin is gettin B's in AP classes (which is dang awesome!)...it is considered the same as an A in regular classes...give him time and he'll get a couple A's that'll bring him up. Even with ONE A...if he actually sees the GPA go up...mebbe that'll inspire him! What's he at now Karen? Ya know Harvard only requires a 3.6 . I checked.  :bigsmile :giggle

Hey gals this was me today at Walmart  :sonic :sonic in my little electric cart.  Yep I went driving today again and had a wonderful time and didn't want to come home but the lady at the store told me I was running out of energy on the cart.  I know it started going a lot slower.  I was ready to race someone today I am getting good!!!!!  I still need a horn though!!!  Loved looking at all the neat Christmas things, bought a few things. 

KAREN, I always fix Thanksgiving for me and hubby if we are alone.  Tradiition for me, I would drag myself out of bed to make dinner.  I did buy a turkey breast today and stuffing mix and cranberry sauce and sweet potatoes today.  Will be buying fresh asparagus before Thanksgiving  and rolls and probably buy a pecan pie for dessert.  Last  year we were going to my sons for Thanksgiving but we had a winter storm and no one went anywhere and the Thanksgiving before that we had the flu.

I have been up since 5:00 this morning so have breakfast cooking.

I have home fries cooking, scrambled eggs with cheese, link pork sausage, country gravy and biscuits. A nice sectioned pink grapefruit.   Orange juice, fresh grapefruit juice or grape/cranberry juice. Of course the coffee and tea are ready and always hot!!  Hot cinnamon buns are coming out of the oven right now.  Enjoy your breakfast ladies.

SHARON yep I sure did enjoy DWTS in fact I posted over on the DWTS thread this morning.  Nice of you to help mom with the Christmas cards.  I did some of mine last night.  I send them to some of my friends on the OCD that I have known for six years and did send some to the RTM gals last year but didn't know if the gals here would rather not send them.

Mom has some friends overseas and in the US she still sends to, she likes to get them done and off her mind. Last year was hard for her as we had to tell each person that Woody had passed.  She had carpal tunnel surgery awhile back, can't write too long, I write the note, she signs, I address the envelope, it works :lol

Mornin' everyone.  Off to PT here in a few...just thought I'd pop in and see what everyone thought of DWTS.  Mya...for sure, followed by Joanna...then it's a toss-up.  The final two should definitely be Mya and Joanna.  There's also just something clunky about Joanna for me...can't nail down what it is, though.  I like both Donny and Kelly, but...not in the same talent class.  Kelly's definitely the most improved...and wow..did she thin down!!  She looks GREAT! 

I've got to say before this year, I really didn't care for Dmitry...even on SYTYCD, but he has really impressed me this season.  WTG, Dm!  Everyone knows how important it is to impress ME!  :rofl

btw, I STILL HATE MY WASHER!!!  Have had to redo two of my 9 loads already, so frustrated I almost cried!!!  Looked into a regular washer, salesman said they use amazing amount of water compared to my Calypso or front loaders.  (well, that's why they work!!!!)

Heard at my hairdressers the other day that the front loaders are also a problem, not just my Calypso.  One gal described the crud the comes out on your clothes as being like "peanut butter."  That's it!  Like kinda dry peanut butter that smears if you try to flick it off the clothes.

And the good news is :bang, the government is gonna make mfg. quit making the ones that fill up so we won't have any choice!  (hope this is just a RUMOR). You bought at the right time, Sharon!!!   (tho I dunno if Canada will also make this restriction...)

Just wanted to check in and say I'm fine. Have been kind of busy the past few days (Crisiten here, doctor appts, etc.)

Anyway, am fine and trying to get back to work - am totally broke after taking so much time off. Not going to be a big Christmas here unfortunately.
Did get my blood work yesterday again and this time it was all normal so I'm off all supplements. Will see if I hold my own next week when I have another blood draw. I have so many holes in my arms that I leak when I drink something (anyway, it feels like I should, and the last two blood suckers have been brutal with their needles - this one started coughing with the needle in my arm. That hurt!). Now am having to do my blood pressures and pulse a couple of times a day to see if I have to be on blood pressure meds - am thinking that is only really bad when I exert myself, but my pulse rate seems to be high all the time now. Doctor will check my records in a couple of weeks and decide. My SIL said maybe my high pulse (tachycardia) is causing me more breathing problems than I used to have.

Karen, does that mean we had best baby our old washers? Like to eat peanut butter but not on my clothes.

Shirley, so glad you are getting out and about these days. Been trying to tell you to get a scooter or mobile chair. I am telling you that Medicare will pay for it for you. I sometimes ride those scooters around the stores if I am really tired or having more trouble with my breathing than usual. Try to walk if I can, leaning on the cart - good for me to get that little bit of exercise if I can tolerate it.  Keep on keeping on - it means so much to keep your spirits up.

Haven't voted this year on DWTS as I do not feel that strongly about any of the celebrities. I do agree that Mya really is incredible and should win - I think that was pretty obvious from the get-go. She actually should have had three perfect scores last night - what the H___ is wrong with Carrie anyway - she is sitting too close to Len. I think they have switched their minds or something. She was hard on Joanna too. I will hate to see Donny go as he is a terrific entertainer but certainly the finalists should be Joanna and Mya - no question. I just think Derek is sooooo talented in his choreography (but that is not what we should vote on, I know). I loved their waltz last night (and Mya's, too).  Kelly has improved greatly for sure, but again not on the same playing field as Mya and Joanna.  I think (hope) we will have another 'season" in the middle of winter (don't we always get a second season lately)?

Hi everyone.  I am sorry I dropped off the earth but life has been happening big time.  I have had a lot of health issues and am still dealing with them.  Very scary for my family and me and extremely tiring. I didn't read back too much as I would never have made it to posting.  I miss you guys.  It has been so long since I saw any of you or we got together and no Clay stuff going on.  I feel kind of weird and understand what other RTM peeps have said in the past about various things.  I read everyone's comments and it is good that life goes on without me but it is a little depressing how easily everyone goes on without me!  Not a ripple. 

Sounds weird and selfish and childish of me, but that is how I am feeling.

I am glad to see that Shirley and Brenda's health have improved so much.  I will try to be on more often to keep up to date on things.

Carolyn, don't be so hard on yourself, life just goes on period.  If you did read back I sent a few shout outs to you and others in absentia.  It's really up to each of us as individuals to decide how much involvement we want here in the RTM ~~or not.  You have to be visible to be missed otherwise it's too easy for day to day to just happen which it does. It's always good to see you, don't ever doubt that :wink
So what's going on with your health???

I have been taking an IV antibiotic at home for a couple of weeks; A nurse comes once a week to draw my blood.  Apparently, the medication I was on caused my CPK levels to go from under a 100 to 2290.  The doctor's office called and told me to come to the hospital immediately.  Fortunately, no damage to my kidneys but a lot of drama and doctor's visits and blood tests.

I am now on a different antibiotic that I have to take twice a day for an hour each time.   :bang

I am still in real danger of losing my toe. Bummer.

Becky - I have a PICC line so I can do it myself.  My morning IV I can do at work.  It is a baseball sized apparatus that I just hook to my PICC line and the IV drains out.  I can walk around and everything.  :)

I just hope this one works for me.  I like my kidneys and would like to keep them!

I hope I'm not one of the ones who didn't thank you for a card.  The only reason I could think of for you to send one to me was my birthday, and I don't even remember that day!  That was the day Brenda went into the hospital and that period of time is a total blur.  If you did send one, please know that I do appreciate it!!   I know it may not be a good excuse, but sometimes life gets in the way of memory...or of us doing things we need to take care of.  I won't answer for Becky, but I do know she would never slight anyone intentionally.  She's definitely one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people around.

Anyway...I know how you feel about the cards.  Remember...I sent all those Adam DVD's to people and there are still THREE who have never even acknowledged getting them, and those took a lot of time and were costly to make and send.   Plus, I only sent them to people who actually said they wanted one.  So...next time, my list will be shorter for sure.  I certainly love doing nice things for people and really don't expect any kudos for the things I do, but a simple acknowledgement of receipt would've been nice (from those three--and yes, I'm SURE they got them, and pretending not to won't cut it..sorry). 

Kim....scholarship time????  Since his grades are really good, then maybe that's a possibility?

Carolyn...I just figured you were okay since you've told us before that you spend a lot of time on facebook now....as does Beth.  I've seen you on there quite a bit, so nobody knew anything was going on with you health-wise.  It seems all of us have our crosses to bear lately, so sometimes it's hard to keep up with everyone and their problems....even though we try our darndest most of the time.  Though I don't talk about it much...seldom, really, I have some issues at the moment as well.  I am thankful that mine aren't as bad as some sisters on here -- for sure.

Yes, they did.  They took weekly blood tests.  It was pretty scary.  They took the weekly blood test last Wednesday evening and called me Thursday morning to rush to the hospital.  I was nearly kept in the hospital (should have been), had to drink massive liquids, had to get daily blood tests, and ended up in the hospital on Sunday for dehydration.  All better now.  Different medication now. I was on Daptomycin.  Now I am on something that starts with a V!  Vincomycin?

MARILYN, thanks for your response about my post.  And yep you did thank me for your card.  But like you and the DVD's I don't expect thank you's for any cards I send as maybe  you don't even like cards I just would appreciate it if you say "hey I got your card Shirley" no thank you is needed.  I have been posting on the OCD going on seven  years and we have always been big card senders there, I get wonderful cards and notes all the time .  I mentioned the Christmas cards because I have not been posting really all that long on the RTM thread and wanted to know what everyone was doing.  I know I sent them last year to most of you but didn't want to do it again.  Never want to make people think they have to run out and get me a card cause I sent them one.  So this  year will just come to the RTM and give you a personal greeting and hug.

Shirley....I stopped sending Christmas cards YEARS ago...way before I came to the RTM.   Maybe I became a quasi-cynic somewhere along the line, but I started to feel like there was just too much commercialism attached to a holiday whose meaning was being lost.  As far as I'm concerned, a warm cyber greeting and a cyber hug from you is special anyway and all that I'd ever need!  I know the intent behind it is genuine, so that's the BEST!

I also now only shop for the kids in the family because they don't understand about meanings of things yet.   In this day and age anyway, we'd better conserve whatever assets we have since we don't know what the future of this Country brings. 

In any event, when I say it's the "thought" that matters, I truly mean that!!

Becky, got busy because my job called and gave me another account - at a lower per minute rate, however. They said they are having to cut their rates to the hospitals and clinics because of the economy and thus have to cut ours - IT SUCKS! I think I will look for another job - but will probably have a problem as I don't want to work full time and do not want to give up my ability to take off when and as much as I want and am financially able to (which, at these rates, will be never anyway). Anyway, I had to train on that account but had work for the rest of the day. The rate cut amounts to about a dollar an hour decrease in pay - which really sucks big time.

Is Jim staying with you at  your dad 's house? I bet I've said a few of those words when someone cuts me off, too. Wish you could relax for a while as well. You have had been so busy taking care of everyone else you don't seem to be able to do anything for yourself anymore. I certainly hope they all appreciate you! I'm glad we have this site to come to for some respite from all our problems and have people who support us. 

Going to watch some TV and veg out for the evening. Hope you all can do the same (if you like vegging out).

 and said, 'Mildred, did you know that we just ran
 through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us

I need to clarify something.  I am not on facebook all the time.  My kids are on it!  Emily and Jacob play my farmville and farmtown and etc.  I just get on it for status updates, etc.  I don't interact on it like I do with you guys AT ALL.  Actually, I hardly see Beth on it at all either. 

When I am on Facebook, it is normally to play a game while I am doing something else.  Easy games while I am on the phone or something.  RTM is my home - I just get caught up in RL and time slips away. 

BTW - I wanted to tell you something cool.  Emily is the captain of the middle school swim team.  I am tickled.

Bill is okay.  He is in constant pain but is making it through each day.  We are headed for 20 years of marriage, and, although this has been a bad year for us financially and physically, we are getting along better than ever.

Jacob is Mister Casanova.  He is a freshman on the high school swim team. He was also in soccer.  His grades are much better than last years and he has some really good friends.  He is a little too popular!  :)

Emily is awesome.  I can't believe what a beautiful girl she is in every way.  I am very blessed by my family.  Good night RTM!

BECKY, I apologize to you for over reacting and please, please forgive me.  I went back and deleted that post hoping you wouldn't see it.  I see I was a bit touchy yesterday.  Cards were a thing I was raised with.  Thank you cards were always written and no occasion was forgotten without sending a card.  My mother was very strict about that.  I remember sending my first thank you card at ten years of age.  We would go to the Hallmark store where we would spend a good hour my mom and me while she picked out all her cards. 

Well off to the hospital this morning for some blood tests and other tests.  Can't eat anything so I am starving already.

Adam has made it clear that he does not want to be their political "poster boy;"  he just wants to do his thing and live his life.

Kinda nice having someone speak up for himself after being mistreated by a "journalist."  Clay's management never allowed him to do that.  I think Adam's management knows better than to tell him to ignore things. :lol

It's hard to believe that Clay Aiken has done lots of things right, in spite of being an unexperienced, innocent, and trusting young man.  When Season 2 was done . . . . Clay didn't have a publicist, 12 years of stage experience, or a professional  career.  Coming right off American Idol, he sure did not have his own band.  You couldn't find him on You Tube or Twitter or My Space.  He has had an uphill battle.  I feel sad when any one of his fans think he needs to be "knocked down a peg".  I hope he gets a special on PBS.  That is how many people got to know Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and many others.  That is how I first heard about the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, even though they had been around for quite a few years.  PBS concerts are shown internationally and usually are very well produced.

As a member of Claymaniacs and the RTM, I wish the very best for Clay Aiken.  Even when he puts his large foot in his mouth.  He is a good man.  He brought us together.

Barb, you sound so upset about Clay. I know I criticize him sometimes, especially when he sticks his very big foot in his mouth- because by now he should know to watch what he says in public. It is so frustrating and sad to see him digging his career grave deeper and deeper. I still love his voice and would definitely go to his concerts, and I definitely will always be grateful for him because he brought us together.  I do get very angry (and have been angry with him for quite a while because part of what I loved about him was his devotion to his fans - where did that go? I feel abandoned sometimes by him, don't you? We invested a lot of emotion, devotion,  time, and money helping him build his career (yes, we did, by following him, by buying his CDs even when we didn't need any more of them (anyone need many unopened CDs)? - the magazines, etc., etc. We didn't leave him, he left us. I wish he would come back - the old Clay who cared, not the new one who doesn't seem to care anymore! (You  know that anger is usually a product of sadness and hurt!) PS: I wouldn't mind a PBS special - or any special at all, actually.

Karen, New Moon is the second book/movie in the series of four. Eclipse (the third book) is scheduled to be released as a movie on June 10, 2010 (I think that is the correct date - did you know that, Kim?).  I am not going until Tuesday (bummer). The girls want to see it with their friends first - can understand that - so Julie and I are going on Tuesday when they are in school. I'm sure I will probably go at least one other time. Karen, you should rent the first one - you really should read  the books as they are really gripping.

Did anyone see Taylor Lautner on Jimmy Fallon last night - it was hilarious. Too bad Fallon didn't replace Leno instead of Conan is (can't stand Conan). I'm going to see if I can find it on You Tube so my girls can see it. If I find it I will post the link.

KAREN, KIM, & BISI -  I agree that Clay can make us feel very frustrated somtimes.  I have done many "ramblings" when I think he has screwed up.  I think we are all on the same page regarding that. 

I have no idea if other celebrities stay in contact with their fans on a regular basis.  I wish Clay would have at least done a monthly blog at the OFC.  I think he really connected with his fans via the Question and Answer thread at the OFC this past summer and early fall.  I also have spent lots of time and $$$ being a Clay fan, but I voluntarily did it . . . and I loved it.

Everyone has the right to post whatever they feel about Clay -  good or bad.  Last night, I just felt that he needed "a boost".  I certainly have kicked him in the butt (cyberly) on many occasions.  :blush

Philly...thanks for lunch, but I already ate!  Dang!  I had a BIG salad with leafy romaine and sweet butter lettuce, cheddar cheese chunks, walnuts and sugar-free raspberry vinegarette dressing.  YUMMMMMM.  Actually, I have that for lunch just about every day and don't get tired of it at all!

Got my appointment with the dietician on Tuesday, so maybe my diet will change and I'll be able to eat some TG dinner!  Dunno what it will be like if I can't have mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce!  OH NO!

Anyway, hope y'all are having a great day (including Clay..even though he slights his fans IMHO).

He couldn't tour on an album that he put his heart and soul into and noone bought. He can't do a Christmas tour and work on a new album and look for other work. What do people want him to talk to us about? And the questions at OFC were mostly assinine. About the biggest thing that happened this year was having his TMJ fixed, and he told us that. I am excitedly awaiting his "second" career without AI/RCA connections, with or without his big-foot-in-mouth disease which, in my mind, makes him human.  :wink

Just had a very pleasant experience with an on-line website that I want to relay.  If any of you want to shop there, they bend over backwards to help you!

My husband and my niece's son are both train freaks.  I found a railroad crossing bank that I thought both of them would really like for Christmas. Well, when I went to the site last night (www.lioneltv.com), I saw that they were offering a 2 for 1 deal with only having to pay the shipping on the second one.  Well, being in a stupor, I placed an order for TWO.  DUH.  Imagine my shock when it took me to the total page and the total was 99.00 + because I had actually asked for FOUR!  :lol

Well, I looked EVERYWHERE on the site for a phone number to call and correct the problem, but there was no phone number there.  SOOOO.....this afternoon, I decided to look up who owned the website and send them an email...which I did.  In the email, I asked for someone to call me to straighten out the problem.

I just got a call from a gal in their company.  She was SO nice and extremely helpful.  Not only did she correct MY error, she also took an additional $10 off the price!  Sheesh!  I should make mistakes more often!  :lol  (j/k on that one)

Anyway...if you need anything from that site, lemme know if you need to get to customer service.  She also gave me a customer service phone number.

Barb and Becky, I guess I was really hurt that he couldn't find his way to the OFC for five minutes to say "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my fans!" That would have helped a lot (especially when we paid good money to join that fan club mainly to read his blogs). And, yes, I traveled and bought all those tickets, CDs, magazines, etc., voluntarily as well, even buying his friends' CDs to help them out as he asked us to. Didn't need a card from him, just an acknowledgement and it wouldn't have taken much for him to do that. I'm sorry I still feel disappointed in him, but I do. Part of it is that I think he has really damaged his career so much I'm afraid he can't come back and thus we will have no more tours and probably no more CDs if the next one doesn't do better than the last and he will be gone into that netherworld of "whatever happened to ______" - and I really don't want that to happen.  (whew, talk about a run-on sentence). Enough anyway. But, I still love you guys!

Ran out of work again (thus I'm here). Told them I don't want that other account (where I worked four hours yesterday and only made $8.50  - would be far better off working for MacDonalds). Good grief - feel better saying I don't want it, even though I don't like to quit anything. It was really stressing me out.

Well I was able to get on the site this morning without any trouble.  Had a bad day   yesterday and last night was horrible.  I was taking pain pills every three hours and thru the night also.  I could barely walk with the cane or stand at all.  I thought I would be in the wheel chair again.  I am going to stay away from the computer and stay out of this chair.  It is a strain on the spine plus the other day having such a wonderful day of shopping caused me a lot of pain  yesterday.  I do believe it is getting in an out of the Ram Charger we have.  My husband built a little step for me but it is still hard for me to get my self in the truck with out straining the spine.  When I get in the vehicle three and four times in one day it seems to cause a major problem.  At least I am starting to figure these things out so maybe I can prevent some of my problems.  Also I found the crying jags are from the pain killers as that is all I did yesterday and last night and so far this morning is crying but was taking large doses of pain killers.  Okay that is my story so you won't be seeing me quite as often for a while.


KAREN, wished I could come over and help you get ready for your company.  I used to love to help people and cook with them, I do have lots of wonderful memories.  My mom and dad were in all the great memories I have. 

SHARON, thank you for continuing to feed us, it is always so good and so appreciated.

Kim, are you back from New Moon yet?  We changed our minds and went today - just got back. Loved it, but am torn between Jacob and Edward. Emily has changed totally to Team Jacob; Julie is totally Team Jacob; Caity is on the fence with me (we're both greedy) - have to admit Jacob is HAWT, HAWT, HAWT.  Loved the wolves. At the end everyone in the theater was shouting no , no, including me  (couldn't believe that was the end). Bet everyone changes back to Team Edward wth Eclipse. Will be going again for sure.  Kristen sure looked better in this one, didn't she?  I love Alice - do they sell Team Alice shirts? The lines were horrendous for every show - we missed the 5:10 - sold out but got in the 5:40 one (the girls were fifth in line to get into the theater had great seats for us by the time I got there. The place was packed but everyone was well-behaved - except where warranted. Well done! Can't wait to see how you liked it.

Gosh I loved Jake in this! :heartburst We had a blast...the audience in this one was so fun! I did get the giggles though..when Jake pulled off his shirt..one very YOUNG girl yelled WHOA! (Maybe 10 years old?) and when she did that...the rest of us all just cracked up! I had tears rollin down my face for a bit there...was gigglin so much! :lol :lol

I went to see New Moon yesterday with Emily and two of her friends.  We ordered our tickets online so not a worry about seats. The theater was packed.  Audience was fun for us as well.  I am still Team Edward.  I really enjoyed it. Jacob was very nice to look at, though. I thought this movie was great.

Kim - Emily wore her Team Greedy shirt.  No one else had anything like it and she was thrilled.  Do you know we dryclean it for her so it will stay nice.  She adores that shirt!

I went to see New Moon yesterday with my daughter Robbie.  I really liked New Moon better than Twilight.  The acting, directing and graphics were so much better this time (I did enjoyed Twilight too though).

It was Robbie's second time seeing it.  She went to Canada Thursday night and saw it with her friend.  They were showing Twilight at 8:00 pm and then New Moon at 10:10 pm - back to back.
 
She said that she will probably still see it at least one more time.    :lol

Anyway, I was more a team Edward last time, now I am probably more a team Jacob.   :para  I think I'm fickle.   :slick

Sharon, a "me" day sounds wonderful - enjoy. You should grab the Twilight series - really quick read for all four because you can't put them down.  Even most guys like them, it seems. There were lots of guys in the theater yesterday.  I can't wait to see it again.  The next movie will be even better - lots of action and suspense in that one (more in this one than the last - it had me on the edge of my seat and I knew what was going to happen).

Kim, would love to see your Alice drawing - I just love her and her hair style. I thought Robert/Edward was better in this film than the first one and I loved him in both. and Jacob was mega HAWT. I already said that last night, didn't I - worth repeating. Hope you all get a chance to see it.

It is really hard not to love Jacob in New Moon - but also hard not to love Edward too. I guess I am just as fickle as you, if not more so. I feel sure that I will see it at least one more time - wish the DVD were out already. I too am anxious for Eclipse to come out. Here we go again. What are we going to do when there are no more to which to look forward? She needs to keep writing more sequels.

MARILYN, I guess you have enjoyed yourself today as you probably got to see Dylan.  Did he give you a Santa Claus list yet????  Preston has so much, so many expensive things, heck he has was a teenager has already.  Like a gator that runs on gas and motor bike, it is really disturbing what all he has.  He has a fantatic John Deer wagon but he has already outgrown that as they keep buying him more and more grownup things.  He is only two and they won't let him just be a little boy.  Sometimes I think my son and DIL try to outbuy each other as far as Prestong goes.  We make home made things when Preston comes here.  I save all my wonderful birthday and get well cards and than we punch holes in them and string  yarn thru them all and he loves to look at all of them. 

Kim, since it takes Jake 30 seconds to pull off his shirt, were you able to count his abs?  Were there actually 36 or was Jimmy Fallon exaggerating?? :bduh :lol

Had a nice Thanksgiving with David's family.  A bit of sadness; one brother-in-law lost his dad last weekend, and the other lost his mom this weekend (they didn't come).  The mom had Alzheimer's for 12 years and it was expected, but still hard to lose a parent.  The dad had been ill for the past year or two, they were kind of expecting it too.  Still; :sniff

My turkey turned out yummy.  Everybody had to pitch in the last 30 minutes; was a very crowded kitchen!  Had gravy cooking, biscuits going in and out of the oven, peas cooking, and making mashed potatoes at the last minute (instant), and serving up the jello salad.  But it all worked out!

My Mikey pitched in before company came and a little during to chop up the onions, celery, and apples for the dressing.  That was a huge help!  And David did most of the clean-up  :hugg while I was putting things away and making up a doggy bag for his mom to take home.

We were all EXHAUSTED!!  But smiling.

Guess you are all watching the AMAs - that's where I'm going as soon as I post this.  Just got back from seeing Blind Side with Sandra Bullock - terrific film - a really heartwarming, funny, touching film. Very well done. The theater was packed - gonna give New Moon a run for the money (I don't really believe that, but this film will also have great sales this weekend - actually I can hardly wait to see what New Moon raked up.)  Anyway, do go see this film if you get a chance!

Karen, sounds like a regular Thanksgiving - hectic. Lucky you, getting more than one TG dinner - love TG dinner. It was always hard to know which way to go on holidays when there were two sets of parents and two different families.

Good morning all. I thought I had better check in before you all send the posse out looking for me. I am ok. Things are starting to settle down here. It has been a really rough couple of weeks. Way too much drama and tears!
I have done some good things though. Got new living room furniture, a new washer and dryer, a new fridge for the basement, a new mattress set for me, a new bathroom for Paul, ordered new carpeting for the living room. That won't come in till the 30th so I had to scrub all kinds of old paint off the wood floor and that took me forever but I have to say, after a nice coat of wax, the floor looks great! I really do not need carpeting now, the floor looks that goo, but I do not like the hollow sound, it is just so empty sounding, plus makes a lot more noise. I have saved the best for last!!! Ta da!!! I got myself a 65in TV!!!! I looked and looked at prices then went and looked at different sizes and stood as far away from them as I would be sitting in my living room and really could not see the picture that good. The salesman said he had one large tv on clearance and did I want to see it. Well I sure could see that picture and when he told me what he could give it to me for, I was sold!!!! I can even see the guide and read it!!! I am just thrilled!
I have not read back any pages and I have a hugely busy week coming up so I do not know how much I will be on here but I want you all to know I love you all and miss you very much. And a very Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Loved  Doughtery on the AMA awards , he is one class act.  He had a nice wife and family but when I seen him sitting in the audience that sure didn't look like his wife sitting next to him.  I sure hope his success hasn't spoiled his marriage.  Lots of AI alumni.  American Idol has to be proud of the fabulous talent they have brought to light. Kelly was fantastic as was Chris and of course there was Carrie and how funny that the winner  did not preform but Adam did. So sorry that Adam feels he has to act like he does as his voice is so wonderful and pure I was anxious for him to preform on the AMA and i don't feel like that exposure did him any good.  He turns a lot of people off , some like it but I have to think most don't.

Shirley,  I just watched Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson performances on YouTube, since I missed them last night.  IMO, these were more like performances should be instead of all the mostly nekkid dancers in a lot of the other's.  The focus was on the singers for these two, class acts!  BTW, that song Kelly sang (Already Gone), is the only one I have bought on iTunes from her new album; I LOVE it!

Well, not for you, Sharon. So sorry about that  :bang account - how rude is that!!! I so agree with what you said re the AMAs - am not a prude but just found most of it tasteless and sex just for show and shock effect - crude! So sorry Adam did that, wanted much more for him. He sure made me miss Clay a bit more though. the ladies on The View were not impressed - they tended to agree with us. I guess Barbra did an interview with him that will be on sometime in the next couple of weeks -missed the date but sure it will be in the TV guides. Whoopie said we should not have been shocked, that he told us what he would be doing. I think it went way beyond what I thought he was going to be doing - unfortunately. Agree about Janet Jackson (I did watch her, Kelly and Daughtry - a little of Carrie). I thought she stretched her crotch material when she was pulling at her crotch - what was that? I couldn't stop watching the pants either - it was distracting. Saw enough snippets of the others that I simply did not care to watch them. Don't know if the other kids will be there yet. Jill may have to work. Bart & Emiley and the kids hope to be allowed to visit her Mom & Dad for a couple hours. He is still fighting bone marrow rejection. They have been sending videos to our shared granddaughters the past few months when they haven't been able to be with them.

Was going to get the Christmas stuff out of the garage across the street and put it in the little cottage next to us in case we get snow in the next few days. But, it seems I keep getting in Jim's way while he puts everything away from deer camp.  :lol

Becky,  the "runner" idea reminds me of when we went to Chinatown in NYC.  Some people weren't comfortable going into the little back rooms to purchase their designer knock-off purses, so the sellers would have pictures, you would choose and pay (right on the street), then someone would run and get it for you. :clap

I ordered the deluxe one thru the fan club, maybe that's why, Sharon.  I actually got my CD on Saturday, and 3 downloads early (2 were bonus tracks not on the cd).

Becky, it's a touchy feely thing with the merchandise I sell, they want to try on, see how it glitters, it needs to be in their face :lol There are so many restrictions esp in hospitals it seems, no shelving, no racks, I'm at their mercy.  You'd think that with the sizable donations I give them, dependant on sales of course, they'd try to make it easy for me, and help me make more sales which= more dollars for them.  I realize that some of the vendors who set up in these very same places are not as proud of what they do as I am, just wish some of the facilities would be more aware.  But alas, I am a lowly vendor.  Sometimes I wish it was 20 years ago, I would have opened a store in hindsight.

Breakfast is ready!!!!!!!!!!

Little dollar size buttermilk pancakes, sausage links, warm maple syrup, warm cinnamon apples sauteed in butter.  Lots of fresh squeezed juices.  grapefruit, orange and Cranberry.  I also have some warm lemon poppyseed bread ready to take out of the oven and a dish full of whipped butter to put on it. 

That is all I am fixing as there is not that many people stopping by to eat anymore.  Hope eveyrone has a good day and stay well.

I was just reading some Tweets by Derek Hough.  He was so disappointed not to be in the finals.  He was planning an awesome freestyle, he said.  He also said it's the first time there is not either a Ballas or Hough in the finals.  I really think he and Joanna should have been in the finals instead of either Donny or Kelly.  I have this horrible feeling that Donny's fans are gonna get him the trophy tonight.  Do NOT think he deserved 10's last night; 9's maybe.  MYA deserves to win this thing!

I stayed up for the intro to Letterman and a little bit of Robin Williams. figured if they hadn't mentioned Adam by then...he wasn't on. :bigsmile

Then got up and looked for him on GMA...it's Rhianna today.

So it's tomorrow then? GMA in the morning and Letterman at night?

I really enjoyed Donny's free style last night - was very disappointed in May and Dimitry (I agree Sharon. I think Dimitry may have cost her the mirror ball - that was a nothing dance he put together). Didn't enjoy Kelli's either. I think she should be third - just my opinion.  I don't really care that much this year, but I agree - no one can compare with Mya. Donny is a lot of fun though.  Didn't vote for anyone.

Karen, can't remember the dates for Adam's appearances - already have my DVR set. It should say on your guide. He sure is getting the media attention from the AMA fiasco - don't know if that is good or bad.

Just realized I have another doc appt tomorrow morning so I had best get  to work - another pay period without being anywhere near my line count. Oh, well. Wish I could win that lotto that Mary did.

Thanks Philly, that was fun!  Constantine does sound great!  That's a hard song to sing (Journey song).  I enjoyed him on AI; he has since stuck his foot in his mouth a time or two but who hasn't? :giggle

Well, Constantine has signed on until 09/2010.  Perhaps until Clay tours again maybe the RTMERS can do a NYC weekend again and see Rock of Ages?
