He doesn't necessarily have to be in Raleigh to have a BAF meeting. Teleconferences and such...

I'm sure he knows about the CD. There's probably just not much he can do about it one way or the other.

Could be that the CD is the last one owed from his contract. That way he could leave but still fullfill his obligation (if it was for 5 CD's)

Just a thought.

And perhaps its not that he has NOTHING to tell- but PERHAPS he is unable to tell YET.

Since I'm not a member @ OFC, could someone summarize what Clay blogged about?

Sounds like he's still recovering from jaw surgery? Hope that he feels better soon.

I'm with Marilyn, I'm optimistic that something new will come up, we just have to be patient as always and wait till the announcement is delivered to us.

I'm actually thinking of buying the CD since it has a variety of the songs from all his other CDs. This way I don't have to keep lugging all the different ones in my car and have DH look at me like I'm carrying a big suitcase  :lol everytime he sees my Clay cds in the car.

Today is a nice day but darn I don't know if I'll have the energy to plant any of my primroses or do something in the yard when I get home. The pregnancy is starting to slow me down, I bet a snail can beat me to walking to my car nowadays :roflmao

You can renew your memberships now at the OFC. Just did mine. Don't care to get a pin or a lanyard but like the coffee mug. Wonder what the surprise is on the lanyard. You can also get it for a cheaper price for online members only but don't think you'll get the package.

Maybe next blog Clay can tell us his plans are for the year. I'm positive something exciting will come too. :bigsmile

For those of you confused by the OFC renewal, when you get the message about duplicate packages just hit continue and you can renew and will only be charged once.

Very confusing but I decided to give it a try and it worked.  Seems everything over there is complicated    :bigsmile

Just be sure you do not log in at the site before renewing--just go to Fan HQ.

Watching the last part of AI, Clay's montage appeared during the AI finally ( Taylor Hicks) it's amazing how still excited I was to see him again OMG, I miss that man. 

It won't let me renew--but it will let me "gift" myself a membership. Why doesn't this surprise me over there? :hypno

I was almost done but not happy with one track that was too quiet. The author promised to send me a better quality audio and I am waiting for that to finish the CD- then I will send it out

Gwenn~ I am due either on Easter (April 12) or Tax Day (April 15). But I've been sticking to April 12th. When I had my first ultrasound and OB check up it was a toss up because I sort of fell on either days. My I only concern is that I hope I'm not late. I wouldn't mind being early but not too early since my head is still swimming with to-do stuff :para

Add me to the ones who jumped on renewal, and also ordered the CD from Amazon...I somehow feel the need to spend some of my" Clay Fund"( and he doesn't seem to be helping me :bigsmile), Ido wish him a speedy recovery though from his "procedure" on his jaw.

I'm just glad we all have each other right now.

I was kind of upset the the new renewal didn't include M&Gs or advance tour ticket sales. Does that mean there won't be any this year?
Wonder if there's ANY chance of Clay being on the Wild Card show on AI next week. I still find it curious that he's shown several times in the montage that they showed again last night. He was shown more than any other Idol. David Cook was only shown once.

Bev~ There are evidently STILL some smart people at AI. However I believe we will not be seeing Clay on  the

show other than on old clips...for one thing he still seems to be having problems with his jaw.

I am sure hopefully he is taking this "drought time" to get himself healed & rested,so he can come back to us

Meanwhile I am trying to stay busy and trying not to worry about what new adventures he might be planning

I was thinking since they haven't had the wild card for the past few seasons they might want to show a clip of how it worked in the past.
I realize Jennifer Hudson was the only other wild card pick but she'll be on Oprah in Chicago on Tuesday next week.
They may not like him personally but they can't deny his success and draw of his name. I think that's why he above many others was shown 5 times in that montage at the beginning of the first show and again last night.
However, I sure won't get my hopes up.  :wink

AS FOR THE WILD CARD---I WOULD EXPECT PAST VIDEO OF CLAY.  THAT I AM SURE OF.  BUT CLAY IN REAL LIFE?  NO WAY.  ESPECIALLY SINCE HE AND RCA HAVE PARTED WAYS.  WHY WOULD AI GIVE HIM FACE TIME?  AFTER ALL, AI IS ABOUT MONEY.  SELLING CD'S.  NOT PROMOTING A PERSON.  JH CAN CERTAINLY  MAKE IT TO HOLLYWOOD FROM CHICAGO SINCE OPRAH TAPES EARLIER.  I AM SURE SHE WILL BE THERE.  I AM JUST AS SURE CLAY WON'T.

I WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE M&G THING ALSO.  BUT WITH NO DEFINITE TOUR, I AM THINKING THEY ARE NOT OPENING THEMSELVES UP FOR MORE CRITICISM ABOUT  PROMISES NOT KEPT.  IN ALL HONESTY, THE TICKETS RELEASED WERE NEVER A GOOD DEAL.  THE M&G'S WERE WONDERFUL.  I REJOINED BECAUSE I FELT IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.  FOR ME.  SINCE I DID GET 2 UP CLOSE AND PERSONALS VIA THE FAN CLUB EITHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.  AND BECAUSE I SUPPORT CLAY.

There is a article in the March 6th issue of EW about Clay leaving RCA...Not a long article but short and to the point.

It was good to see them print that Aiken confirmed that HE had parted ways with RCA.

It is on page 17 and also mentions his up coming appearance on ANTM Apr. 8th....No picture, however there is one on their  webite with a very fine picture of Clay along with the article I mentioned.

I have decided to join the OFC again.  Clay's last two blogs were so very benign and were only about his surgery.  I desperately want to hear some CAREER related info from him!  Even a hint  . . . . . just to keep us hopeful and to get us "speculating" about his future - and ours!   :bigsmile

 No seriously- the doctor called me about my MRI and I have no tumors, no abnormal growths- a couple of lymph nodes but nothing he is concerned about-nothing pressing on the brain (HEY!! at least I HAVE one!!).. Also my blood tests came back negative from myasthenia so thats also good

So he is stumped as to what is causing the eye spasms. He is now sending me to a neuro opthamologist!! Anyone know what that is?

I actually wanted to say that I was a mite upset with this doctors office- I had the blood test a couple of weeks ago and the MRI last week. I was waiting for them to call to set up an appointment. So I get a postcard in the mail saying I had to pick up my MRI-CD within ten days of March 1st or it will be DESTROYED as they have no storage space!! Excuse me, but it would be nice to discuss the RESULTS with me before you destroy the damn thing!! Yikes!!

I am supposed to go back and get nerve conduction tests for the neuropathy in my feet since I have had shooting pains in the bottom of my feet. Wish I had some of the resilience of even ten years ago. Getting old sucks big time.

I am glad Clay handpicked songs on the new CD. I was gonna buy it anyway!!! :bouncy

BUT- I did it a better way. Went onto Goodsearch-put in Bubel Aiken Foundation then Amazon.Com. Got the CD for $9.49 and TBAF got a bit of the pie too!

Good morning, dear Critical Mass buddies.  I'm just dropping in to let you know I am still alive, albeit still on "sabbatical".  

As an "act of faith", I have decided to renew my OFC membership. (the "no goodies" package)  There is no way Clay can just fade into the woodwork.  :no  He has too much talent and substance to simply disappear into the world of "has beens".

Sunny, I am also puzzled as to why "Lover All Alone" wasn't included in the new CD.

Joann, enjoy your adventure aqt the museum.  I say good for you!  :clap :hugg  Will you be driving into the city or using mass transit?  (My USC son is fanatical about using mass transit).  

Marilyn, I am so happy to hear that at least you aren't dealing with myasthenia gravis.  Have they considered the fact that your eye twitching may be a result of a medication side effect?

BTW, will this CD be available at stores as well as through Amazon?

I think as long as  Clay is part of the action I will get the cd and send it to my niece in Cal. (The one who auditioned for AI this summer..) She is  discovering his music and loving him..

As for the OFC..I'm still ticked with him about the way he stopped blogging, showing photos and basically failed to keep his part of the contract  with us that he promised when we all joined..  He needs to know you can't do that ...  That's just me..I'm a tough cookie...So those of us who choose to join .. GREAT..and those who don't..Great too...

Such good news, Marilyn -- now if they can only solve the mystery of the spasms (known, by the way, to be a recognized symptom of Clay Drought...)

Anyway, of course I'll buy the CD.  Even if it was lousy I'd buy the CD.  I love Clay's singing, and I want him to continue to sing to us into the future --  and so I think the price of a CD is a small price to pay, to try to keep his numbers up however much fans can, in order to demonstrate that his singing career is still relevant, in spite of mismanagement, and to help him secure venues and openings for future success.  I also know I'll enjoy the CD, I look forward to having a bunch of great songs on one CD, and I look forward to considering what the "remastering" has done to improve things, if it has.

It has been a very dreary day here in eastern NC--rained all day long and is still raining.  They say we need it but my yard is like walking on a wet sponge.  I have not gotten a whole lot accomplished today but it feels good just to sit down and rest and not be on a schedule.

So glad to see so many positive comments here about the fan club renewal and the new CD.  I did renew my membership -- not because I like the OFC (I rarely go there), but to show my support for Clay.  I will also buy the CD because I think it will be great to have such a mix of songs on the same CD (good for listening to in the car)--and also to support Clay.  Glad he had a hand in it and hopefully it won't be too long before we hear of a "new" CD in the works.

Johanna - hope you had fun today.  I always look forward to your posts and your slant on all thing Clay.  Hope you and Shelley have a great time in Vegas seeing David Foster.

Gwenn - hope you had a great day in NYC

Marion - hope you enjoyed your trip back to the Shubert.  At least you can think of all the great memories we had there

Marilyn -- what can I say other than THAT IS JUST GREAT NEWS.  Getting older is no picnic because something is always hurting or not functioning the way it use to.  We just have to do our best and "look on the bright side of life".  Seriously, I'm glad there are no tumors and that it's not myasthenia.  I hope the doctors can figure out the other things real soon so you can get some relief.

I think what we all need is a tour so we can get together and get our minds off our aches and pains.  I'm being very optimistic, but I do think the question Clay asked at the OFC was some kind of clue and that we"ll hear something in April.

That and the fact that it will be warmer then, really have me looking forward to spring.

I do think that Clay will try something soon- a short tour with small venues could be a distinct possiblity. It will be harder for folks to travel in this economy.

I am glad that people are renewing and ordering the CD. I would be curious to see if those negative posters at the OFC have rejoined.

I think that Clay and those of us still here will be fine. I hope he is readjusting his thoughts, since he is bored maybe he can do a lot of thinking-and realize what everyone is saying- he needs to get his name out there again!! I truly think he wants a career-and I think he DOES feel a connection to us- that last blog seems like he reached out a bit. Or I could be imagining it-who knows?

I thought I would share that my 18 year old daughter and I were talking at lunch today and I mentioned the Clay Cd coming out. She loves the idea of a "best of" CD and said she often downloads from itunes the "best of" albums because she doesn't want to buy an entire album when she may only like one or two songs. The last "best of" she bought was the Red Hot Chili Peppers. So she asked me to get her Clay's when it comes out.

I think this is the wave of the future. Downloading is what most young adults do and I think, frankly, everyone will be doing. I hope CDs never become obsolete like the LP did, but it is "greener" to download music. I think it will be cost effective.

Anyway, I already preordered 2 CDs and will probably get a few more on the release date to give as gifts.

Sunny, right now I think I would take the snow.  It is still raining hard here--all day yesterday and all day today.  By tomorrow morning I will have to have a boat to get out of the house.  It sounds like we are going to miss most of the snow, but for those a little west of me -- be careful and, if you get the snow they are predicting, you very well may be stranded for a week.

To those of you who have not listened to the interview from the link Johanna posted, you will really enjoy it.  It takes about 25 minutes but the man seems to know what he is talking about.  He values the artist and not big business--what a concept.  I hope that whatever route Clay takes with his music career, people treat him better than RCA did.

I got my re-up package from the OFC  yesterday,and wouldn't you know it ...its the same thing I got last year..the tote bag, chapstick, and a small bag of Clay button pins.

It told that even though his post -idol album went platium, he still sold fewer Cd's than other winners.such as Carrie Underwood. This time, taylor tells us," I'm recording a CD on my own label so I can have complete artistic control". The Distance is due out Mar 10th.

Please note that we are well aware of the technical issues that occurred during the renewal/signup process yesterday. Our engineering team worked diligently throughout the night in attempt to rectify this critical error. It is our understanding that we were able to prevent multiple billings and authorizations as of 12 a.m. (Pacific) on 9.15.06. We sincerely apologize to anyone affected by yesterday's critical error.

Our records indicate that only a handful of members have actually been charged more than once for membership costs. However, we also understand that there are quite a few members whose credit cards were authorized for multiple membership costs -- this does NOT mean that the charges to the cards were actually processed.

Our system is designed to automatically void multiple billings, but the billings do appear as pending transactions on the credit card statements -- THEY WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. Depending on the financial institution, we expect these pending transactions will be reverted within 24 to 48 hours (some financial institutions will take up to seven business days to revert pending transactions). For further information regarding specific bank/credit card company policies on voided transactions, please contact the financial institution directly.

 :lol  Based on what Mimi has gone through with getting last year's items  :bduh and the way the OFC listed the charges on my Master Card (thanik goodness for online credit card services  :clap) I would say a better word for the OFC is completely incompetent!  I subscribed to the "online only" membership and for some reason they listed the charges on my account as $19.99 and then $1.00 separately.  Oh, well I guess that adds up to 20.99 but the question is will there be more charges on my credit card tomorrow morning and the next day?   :hypno

I'm so sorry for the grief others are going through with this "re-up" process.  I originally decided to re-up as an "act of faith", but now my faith is being tested.   Oh, well, I guess we're in this for the long haul!

We did indeed get 3 in. of snow ,and schools are closed.

I was hoping I could stay in this morning but unfortunately people in the medical profession still are required to show up for work...Rebeccas Dad is a heart surgeon & her Mom is a Dr at the VA....So goody,goody I get to go out and scrape snow off my car.

Back to me- because its all about me.
I went out to shovel-cleared a path from my back door to the car-then decided I should do the sidewalk first so I dont get a village summons.(Yep- the jerks) Anyway, the guy down the street took pity on me and brought his snowblower down, did the sidewalk and all my driveway up to the car and around one side. Couldnt fit the other side. I got a ruler and stuck it in the snow on the roof of my car and it was 10 1/2 inches. More is supposed to be coming down this afternoon. Cleaned off my car and around the other side. My fingers were FROZEN- ran them under warm water and it HURT!!
So now I am in the house. I will forage for hot chocolate soon.

For those who wanted the CD- I finally got the better audios from the author, and I will be doing them this week- probably won't get to the post office until Saturday. One of the songs starts in mid sentence, but its such a clear rendition I kept it in.

I would love to get rid of some of mine, as well.  To think I was asking for Lladro's for gifts only a couple of years ago.  They are beautiful, but at this point they are becoming just more "stuff" to clutter up my house.

One of my friends at work plows. He was supposed to come plow me out yesterday. Didn't.

Told Bruce he was going to plow me out at 8 this morning. Didn't.

Told me he was going to be here this afternoon and he hasn't come.

Maybe he and his plow got stuck in a snowbank.

Sunny, I'm glad the snow is gone in Raleigh.  We had more snow last night and the roads were like glass this morning.  Worst road conditions I have seen in quite a while.  The sun melted most of it off the roads today which is good because I don't know if it got out of the 20's today. 

I can't wait until this weekend -- it will be in the 70's.

OHMIGOSH this time next week I will be in RALEIGH!!!

I am so excited to be visiting again! I sure hope its WARM there because some IDIOT put the AIR conditioning on at work on Friday, forgot to turn it off- and it was FREEZING!! Ack!! My poor widdle fingers could just not type properly. What do you mean they never could- thats irrelevant!! :)

Tomorrow night I won't be on the boards cuz I am going to see BO BICE!! I always liked him and we got second row center seats (I probably already posted this so put it down to senility)

Clay was on facebook online for a while late last night but was on idle. Maybe he was talking to Reed on his personal one I bet. He has a page now where the fans can be his friend. That's nice of him. :smile He basically just adds people and he lets you post messages to him. The other day he told everyone to be safe in the snow and a few weeks ago he gave a heads up that he posted a question at the OFC.

BO BICE- DISAPPOINTED THAT HE HAD DARK GLASSES AND A COWBOY HAT PULLED LOW SO I COULDNT SEE HIS FACE UNTIL HE TOOK HIS GLASSES OFF AT THE END OF THE ENCORE, THEN RAISED HIS HAT.

HIS HAIR IS DOWN TO HIS WAIST!!

BUT!!---HIS SINGING WAS GREAT AND HE PUT ON A GOOD SHOW. MOST OF IT WAS COUNTRY BUT HE DID SOME FUNK,  SOME LYNRD SKYNRD- AND SOME BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD- "STOP, HEY WHATS THAT SOUND-EVERYBODY LOOK WHATS GOING AROUND"  HE WAS ENTERTAINING.

THERE WAS AN OPENING ACT FROM 8-8:30. A FEW MINUTES INTERMISSION, THEN BO SANG UNTIL 9:30. LEFT THE STAGE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, CAME BACK AND SANG 3 MORE SONGS.

EVERYONE- I MEAN, EVERYONE- WAS ABLE TO GO TO THE BACK OF THE THEATER AND GET A MEET AND GREET, AUTOGRAPHS, ETC. MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE GOING TO DO IT, BUT IT WAS CLOSE TO TEN AND WE WANTED A DRINK.
YEAH, GOOD LUCK. THERE WAS NOTHING OPEN!! SO WE HUGGED, SAID GOODBYE, AND I HIGHTAILED IT HOME.

I'm looking forward to the Idol tell-all, and hope it is truthful.  I have always wondered if Corey Clark, dismissed as a liar, was actually telling the truth re Abdul.  Those phone records and other receipts certainly represented something that was not at all right in a contestant-judge situation, and the phone records of numerous calls at all hours from Abdul to Clark seemed so totally obsessive.  I have never felt completely comfortable with Idol's so-called "investigation," one that trashed the expendable contestant and branded him a liar and vindicated the judge, whose behavior was in any event completely inappropriate, but whom they needed to redeem for the show.

Gwenn -- My daughter has to go to her college's health center before she can be referred anywhere else, for insurance reasons.  (This place does have quite a reputation -- as in a friend of hers who went with itchy eyelids; they diagnosed herpes of the eye or eyelid; referred the friend to a specialist who nearly died laughing -- she only had allergies.)  Anyway, my daughter went last week with a bad sore throat.  They never looked at her throat and handed her a prescription for vicodin.   Hope your throat is better soon.

I don't remember exactly what it was in reference to this time. Simon did explain the "importance" of the wild card round, saying that, without it, we wouldn't have had Jennifer Hudson or Clay Aiken.

But Ryan tossed Clay's name out a couple times, to try to get a reaction from Simon. I don't know what the behind-the-scenes story is, but Ryan is starting to look jealous and petty. What the heck? Did Clay turn him down or something?

Bringing Whitney Houston Back
Move over Britney, Whitney Houston is ready to take the title of comeback queen. And David Foster, the legendary hit-maker for stars ranging from Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion to Madonna and Michael Jackson, is finally talking about his reunion with the superstar.

Foster collaborated with Houston on the blockbuster soundtrack single "I Will Always Love You." He knows fans are wondering if she's ready to resume her hugely successful career after years battling her personal demons.

Q: You and Whitney are finally together again. How is she doing?

David Foster: I was in the studio with her last week. She's in great shape and she looks good. We have this fantastic song that Diane Warren wrote and we went in and recorded it. It went really well. Her work ethic was exactly the way it was when we did the song for The Bodyguard. She worked incredibly hard for two nights and we came up with something really good. 

Q: Whitney has been through some tough times. Do you think she has her life and career back on track?

DF: I think she's going to have a great album out within the year. Whitney is a girl that everybody would like to see come back and, in this case, it really would be a comeback. A lot of people say, 'Come back? I never left.' But Whitney did leave and she hasn't recorded in about 10 years, I believe. So this truly would be a comeback.

Songwriter Diane Warren had something to say about the the song she wrote for Houston.

Q: What's the song about, Diane?

Diane Warren: I don't usually write music with someone in mind. But I set out to write this song specifically for Whitney and it's called "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." It definitely touches on her life, but I think a lot of people will relate to it because they've gone through hard times too.

Q: How was her performance?

DW: I was praying that Whitney was going to be able to nail it and she exceeded my expectations. She sang the s*** out of that song. Seriously, it was amazing. I'll tell you something, Whitney is back. Let there be no doubt.

Q: David, let's talk about your new book in which you don't leave out the painful times in your own life.

DF: It was a little bit cathartic, but it I'm glad I did it. You forget the things you want to forget, but a lot of it stays. 

Q: You didn't forget to include the ups and downs of doing the reality TV show The Princes of Malibu with your wife and kids, which took some hard knocks from critics.

DF: I don't regret doing it. Good things have come out of it. I wanted to be divorced from my wife Linda Thompson and the TV show helped that along. My [stepson] Brandon wanted to do music and he's getting his chance. My other [stepson], Brody, wanted to do television and now he's on The Hills. So I think it was kind of a win for everybody.

Q: How would you define that star quality that surrounds the musical legends you've worked with?

DF: My definition of a superstar is somebody that when you walk in a room, you know they're in the room even if you don't see them. And, conversely, when they leave the room, you know they're gone without seeing them leave. There's just an energy that is taken out of the room when they're gone. 

Q: What's guided the phenomenal success you've had in the music business?

DF: Just be content. Just take a breath. If you don't know what to do, wait until tomorrow. Don't make any knee jerk decisions. It could ruin your career.

Apparently I have an evil twin these days! He seems to be running a muck on Facebook. Someone has created a profile using one of my pictures and is contacting people under the sad guise of being me. Personally, I think just one of me is more than enough, so I cringe slightly at the thought of a second one out there; especially if he is going around doing things that are untoward or unkind to people.

Action is being taken to rectify the situation, but if in the mean time you happen to come across or be contacted by a creepy Reed, feel free to click delete, laugh it off as the sad, unfortunate joke that it is and go about your merry day.

Such is life in the days of the internet! Also, if you see the need to pass this information along to others, feel free.

Wow,  Shelley.  That's a frightening reminder that there are creepy,  sinister people out there in cyberspace.  I like the way that Reed has handled this situation with humor rather than anger.  Maybe that will frustrate the low-life who's posing as him to the point where he will move onto somebody else. Years ago I was on a sabbatical taking courses and took a soc. class on Contemporary marriage and family. My term project was to become involved in a local shelter for abused women . I had to observe, sit in on groups and interview to come up with my own conclusions of profiles, demograhy etc..  of who an abused person is.....What an eye opener... It became a calling for me. I wound up donating all my kids toys in the basement to the shelter for the displaced  children caught in the warfare..  There were people from all walks of life and all stations...Doctor's wives, educated women, women with families who would support them but whom they were too embarassed to tell...The piece that bothered me the most is WHY WOMEN STAY???   I have a real thing about  people being victimized and so this case where media  and certain members of the music community seemed to be complacent and condone it got me crazy..So I called my  oh so normal friend, Gwenn and we spent our precious Clay  conference time  getting each other crazy too...There  is NEVER a time or place when it is ok to hit a partner, spouse, GF...  AND..Pepe is right.. What starts out  insults and verbal abuse will absolutely escalate to shoving, punching, and very often severe injury, or death.. She is in danger..no doubt...

I hated that he was going on with his career concerns, and that she  at the tender age of 20  was allowing herself to be treated like that..Good for Oprah....I hope anyone in earshot who knows anyone living in a horror like that will speak up and reach out..

While I do have a Facebook page, I have opted to keep it pretty private and really only use it rarely to keep in touch with my "Spam-Fam", my LA peeps, and a few longtime friends from home. Just wanted to make you aware... if you've "friended" me on Facebook, you've "friended" a wacko and a poser.

I like to know who was this Fake Clay rude too? I didn't see that but loved Clay for being pissy for what he did to some fans.  Shows you how much he cares for us. Like I said this guy only said goodnight to me and I thought that was nice. He sounded actually sweet with his messages to everyone. Guess he might had not been nice to some people in private. It's really scary that he would say things like Clay would. I deleted him now on my FB.

Oh and I wish other fans that was on his friends list could speak up about it falling for it too. I know some very well known fans that were on there. They are being chicken.

That's all I say now on this subject.

Not saying that he doesn't care about his fans, but some "wacko and poser" saying anything in Clay's name could harm Clay's reputation as well.

I sort of had to laugh a bit at that- you are absolutely correct, but I think between the internet and the tabloids his reputation has already been through the wringer.

I see this as sort of the way it has been before- when things are said about him he just ignores, or brushes it off, not responding. When it is said or done to or about his family and friends, he is defensive-and he definitely is defensive about MOST of his fans.

So thats my interpretation- wrong or right.

Rainy day here.  This evening Phil and I are going to a wedding reception about an hour from here.  Good friends whose 38 year old son has finally found the right woman.  What a great couple.  I'm so happy for them!  :bouncy

I don't know nuthin' either, Marlene.  Clay was on Kimmel Valentines Day with nothing to promote and there's also the time he rode in on the horse when he talked about his UNICEF trip.  So, maybe its possible.   I remember a fan asking him if he would be appearing again soon on TV (may have been during one of his BAF or BWC fan sessions) and he said he would do that when he had something to promote.  But, with Clay, you just never know what he's got cooking....something delicious....I'm hopeful.

My brother is back in the hospital in Arizona again. His pain has been ongoing for over a year from his pancreas. He takes so much pain meds it scares me. He looks like a scarecrow, he is so skinny.
Yesterday they removed more stones that were blocking his pancreas. They believe they are coming from the gallbladder. Why they didnt take it out a year ago is beyond me. But hopefully they are going to do it now. I also dont understand why they didnt take it out yesterday, unless the additional surgery would be too much.
Any way, please pray for my brother- he hasnt been able to work properly in a long time. Right now he is on temporary disability but he has put in for permanent. Even if they take out the gall bladder, he will always have pain of some sort. He also has Crohns disease, which is very debilitating too

As to the CD's- the postage more than doubled from last year when I did it!! So, I sent out some yesterday, and will send out more next week on payday. Plus I had to get more mailing bubble envelopes.

I did them in the order of request, so if you asked me for one, please be patient and CLAY will come.

er, um... in the mail.  That is, the CD will..............oh, heck you get my drift.

I went to Walmart yesterday for the first time in about three months. I have limited my shopping to just groceries. Anyway, my meds are many and run close to $200 per month.
I took four prescriptions to WalMart and since they were generic I was able to get a 3 month supply of all for $10 per prescription. That was $40. I usually pay close to $50 per month for those, so I ended up saving $110. Not too shabby, huh??

The other precription I took in cannot be generic, so I will stick to going through the pharmacy to Oxford on that one!

Oh, gosh, no- if someone wants to cover the postage etc. $2 is more than enough-it just has to wait until payday!! I will pm the address.
I was surprised that I got more than 30 orders! But thats a GOOD thing- and I think people will enjoy the CD- its verra verra verra niiiiiiiice!!

I see Clay blogged.  It was great and it's about time he stood up to some of this crap.  I agree that he should have done it a long time ago.  I guess he had more to lose then, but now with everything out in the open, I hope he is tired of some of the crap and I hope he won't just be a punching bag for low lifes anymore.  To all of those who thought his language was too strong--he is a 30 year old man for gosh sake, not a 12 year old boy.  There are not many people, included most of us here, that wouldn't have said that or much worse if we had been subject to what he has for the last six years.

I'm so glad to see Clay and Reed standing up and letting people know that there are lies being spread about each of them and they are not the ones doing it.  And why can't Clay have a FB page to stay in touch with friends without having to let fans join.  Let the man have a private life and he will be much more apt to want to get back to his public life.

As far as Kanye West  :no   and Chris B. and Rhianna, I hope her family tries to get her some help, because if Chris gets away with this once, he will keep doing it.  I'm sure he will promise he will never do it again but that is how it goes and one day he will not stop.  She is sure not sending a good message to all her young female fans.

Gwenn, lord help us if Clay doesn't tour this year but, if that does happen, I agree with you that it would be wonderful to have a Claymaniacs get together somewhere.  Count me in.

It was finally a beautiful weekend here in NC.  Worked yesterday then came home and washed windows and put screens back up, cleaned house (a little) and went to granddaughter's soccer game today.  They won and it was the first time they had won a game I had been at.  She had told me I was a jinx so I couldn't come  :lol but today I asked her if I could come back next week and she just grinned.  I'm sure I am prejudiced, but she is such a special little girl and I love being around her.

I just spoke with Marilyn earlier this morning and let her know, but I thought I'd share with you.

This morning my oldest nephew Jonathan was supposed to have surgery to remove a plate and screws from his now healed arm. He had a pretty bad fracture a few months ago. Well, Thursday the doctor was sick and the surgery was rescheduled for today. As they did the prep for his surgery, his tests came back abnormal regarding his heart. It's skipping beats and the top and bottom aren't beating correctly. They cancelled the surgery, sent him to his doctor and he is now undergoing a stress test with the Pediatric Cardiologist in Wichita. There is a possibility he may have to get a pacemaker (my Dad has one already). Please keep him in your prayers. He's only 12 and very scared!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll check in tonight if I can.

I don't have time to pass this on to the other threads since I have to head back to work, but if someone can share I would greatly appreciate it.

We're going through the same thing with my dad!

He went in to have kidney stones removed and they found a heart murmer

Then they went in for more tests and found a valve that wasn't working.

Today they went in and did a nuclear scan.

I'm hoping for a drug treatment but heart surgery might be necessary. Very scary! :hugg

How do they find out this stuff? They do that with his clothes too. I woudn't even know where to begin looking if I had no clue as to what brand something is :shrug :scratch

I want to thank everyone for their prayers for Jonathan. They did a stress test, echo and sent him home with a holter monitor, so we're still waiting to see what they decide to do. I will let you know when we find out.

I want to state my opinion without  pointing anyone out specifically, because I have heard it in many places. But- IMHO it bugs me when people say- well we bought that shirt for Clay, or we paid for his plane ticket.

No, we paid for him to entertain us. He gave us concerts, CD's, Plays, stage doors. His salary or earnings paid for his perks.

I would hate it if someone I got a mortgage for said that they paid for my house or my car. No- they paid for my services. How I used that money was my choice.

I may be going overboard with this, and perhaps its a joke on some peoples part, but nonetheless it irks me.

Hope everyone else is well. Not sure if I mentioned it here but I did at the BLP..as of Monday my doc has ordered me to rest and off work because I was having early contractions Monday morning. DH and I were at hospital for five hours on Monday. Needless to say, I was discharged but now I'm told to take it easy.

Woke up today though with a sinus infection :bang So I'm like' Argh what else?! Hoping the doc will call to tell me I can take something since the left side of my face has been hurting. Thought it was my teeth cuz the baby is taking too much Calcium from me but now the area under my eye and near my nostril feels tender.

I don't have much to say but I just wanted you to know I am around and I always go back and read everything. 

Jules, take care of yourself and that baby.  My DIL was ordered to bed from the first of July until the third week in September before my granddaughter was born (even had surgery) but even she agrees that it was well worth it. 

So glad that Clay is being included in big things in NYC.  Hopefully, others will see him and then more opportunities will come his way   :cross   :cross

Little by little we are hearing and seeing glimpses of him so maybe he will come back to us SOON (oh, that is the kiss of death).

P.S.  I'd be interested in your feedback on a relatively minor issue that has come up in Chicaqo.  They are talking about renaming the Sears Tower the "Willis Tower" because Sears no longer occupies the building while Willis Corp of England is now the main tenant.  This is probably akin to renaming the Empire State Building in NYC the "King Tower" or something like that.  Any comments on whether or not that would annoy you? It's just a minor annoyance to me, but "if it ain't broke, why fix it"???

Maybe it's because I'm a native New Yorker, but I'd be hurt/disappointed/ticked off if it was proposed to change the name of the Empire State Building. So, if that's how natives of Chicago feel about the Sears Tower, I can totally understand. To me, the name connotes the history of the building and the city--and the memories and moments that are unique to every person who has trekked to the top and gazed out at a breath-taking view. (Not to mention, the name and the building have a solid place in movies, books, tv shows, etc.) I know Shakespeare said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." But in this case, I think the rose by another name would fade.

Now please try to get him on House!  As for House (haven't seen that show in ages) some of the more intelligent and funny episodes have been written by a David Foster -- and so I do wonder, is this OUR David Foster ? (as in OurMC's extended family?) or some other creative spirit with the same name?  Re House, I'd love Clay to do the House Xmas episode -- a special.  What if the patient were a soloist in a choir, eager to get out of the hospital to sing.  If it were a House Xmas special -- it could be something moving and redemptive, as well as ironic and sarcastic -- like House connecting to someone meaningfully, who then drags House (full of complaints of course) along to a church carol sing, where the red-headed former-patient soloist brings meaning to the moment and to House's life, and ends, absolutely, singing "All is Well".

House is good- as long as they have to rip open Clays hospital gown and expose his chest, I am good to go!
But of course he will recover totally after the crew is flummoxed over his many and varied symptoms. And then his voice overwhelms them all when he sings at the Christmas show

Seems like everyone is doing the same thing I am doing today -- nothing. 

With my workload lately all I do on Saturday is necessary errands and a little housework and then I am lazy.  It has been a very dreary, wet day here today (and not very warm) and it is supposed to rain until Monday afternoon.  Not a whole lot of incentive to do anything.

We had a few Clay sightings and some possible appearances this past week so maybe that means that things are picking up.   Hope Clay is having a good time in NY and also taking care of business that will advance his career.

Marilyn, I always read the ANN and appreciate the hard work of everyone who does this for us all week.  I absolutely love the CD -- thank you for all your hard work.  You included several songs I really love and do not have on a recording.  I love the mixture of old and new.

Right now I am going back to being a couch potato -- may be back later if I don't fall alseep.

HE DID THAT.  NOW LET'S HAVE A FUN CD WITH SONGS LIKE BFM.  JMHO.  I THINK WE HAVE ALL HAD ENOUGH INTROSPECTION TO LAST A LIFETIME.  IN THIS ECONOMY, WE NEED FUN.

I too read a lot of himself in the songs. That line from Ashes is just so wonderful and pertinent.

I know that we are not Clays "Friends" and never shall be. But I think he finally realized that the majority of his fans, that core base, still loves and respects him.

 I think this past year opened his eyes a LOT to the dedication of those fans that are still here for him and support him. He may have lost some of the fans that just could not accept the changes or the drama and revelations that went on last year, but those that have stayed have shown him the support he so needed.

I believe that there is a special "closeness" in a different way-not many celebrities have gone through what he has so publicly. (sp?) He has suffered much mental pain and anguish in his life, no matter how tough he says he is. To have close friends and family who stuck with him, to have fans that did not leave, has to be soothing to his bruised soul.

Clay has faults, I cannot deny. Sometimes the sarcasm or snark may be a little intense, sometimes his hair just makes me shudder  :lol, his fashion sense is questionable at times. But truthfully, on his personality, I cannot say that he is lacking at all. His big heart, his inclusion for all (remembering the "Invisible " girl,) His loyalty to Quiana and ANgela, and even Jacob in the beginning-to RUben and Kelly. The fact that he even tries to include his fans in his career. There is nothing about the man that would make me walk away. I think he inspires loyalty- when you meet him he puts you at ease, its never about him, and I like that in a person-especially a celebrity.

His self deprecation annoys me at times. But I think that is a self defense mechanism- let me say it about myself before anyone else can pick it up and mangle me (ie: the ears, the voice cracking, his looks, his makeover, etc)

I am happy to hear little tidbits of appearances coming up-he is starting to resurface. Who knows where this will go? I think he is planning, that his mind is forever in high gear..

Even if that blurb from someone who purports to be from BMG is not true-it has elements of what I believe happened. The gag order for 6 months sounds legitimate- we have that in certain instances with our branch managers and some employees- its called a "Non -compete" clause.

And I also truly believe, by other information garnered from emails and conversations, that the industry knows how Clay was short changed in the support from the label department. I also believe that there are many willing to work with him.

We shall see......................

So true...I loved the word triumph, most of all.  It is really such a powerful journey...and the next book he writes, I do believe he'll do another, one day...will be a amazing testament to hope over despair. He could have so easily succumbed to it.  For me, as soon as I heard the lyrics to Lover All Alone...that was the most revealing one regarding his struggle to be out and accept a 'different' picture of his dreams.


Wouldn't it be great if the next one reflected the buoyancy of liberation...like the energy he showed when he sang Fantasy on AI3...which, now that I reflect back on that performance, showed more of the 'live' Clay we adore.  Yes...time to set introspection aside, and celebrate love, in all of its forms, for all of us.

'Haven't noticed, Mimi, as I haven't been in the market for a car recently. But I would think that weekends might be bigger car-shopping days than, say, Mondays or Tuesdays. And some places might be open by appointment.

I just read on another board that Performance BMW was having a big 3 day sale for the weekend.

It just seems amusing to me that someone who can afford a BMW would wait until they go on sale before buying one.

My boss paid over $50,000.00 for his new BMW...I believe I would be looking for a bargain, however I  can not imagine paying that much for a car.

And we know how frugal Mr Aiken can be .. :bigsmile

Does anybody remember the date that Reed will leave Wicked and go to France to perform with a very popular International female singer who we never heard of?? :blush  I thought Clay would have been in NYC over the weekend and today (since Broadway usually doesn't have performances on Mondays) to be with Reed instead of buying a new vehicle.  :para

SUNNY and GWENN - I was at work today, but I would check CM every few hours . . . . and I loved your conversation and comments about our intriguing BF throughout the day.  :blush  GWENN - To be truthful, even though Clay looked pathetic at his AI audition, that wasn't his worst look.  The Jenna Bush thingy picture is horrid, as is the final night of Spamalot when he was in a bad sweater vest and a bow tie.  :para  Fashion-wise - He defies the odds.  :bigsmile

BTW - Even when I don't post, I stop here every evening and I love every post that lands here.  Lots of information, plus laughter, hope and frustration.  But usually, things always end with a positive spin.  :hugg

Just a very untimely (a day late and a dollar short) opinion about the songs on On My Way Here -  Ever since Clay "came out", so many of those songs have a much deeper meaning for me, also.  I have had that CD playing in my car since the day it was released.  I hear parts of it every single day.  When I listen to (especially) The Real Me, Ashes and (OMG) Lover All Alone, I have an entirely different interpretation than I did when it debuted.  During the extremely short promotion of On My Way Here, in any interview, Clay would emphasize that the songs did not necessarily depict HIS emotions or feelings - I'm not sure that I believe that.  Just think  . . . during that promotion, we did not know about his impending fatherhood or that he would become confident enough to announce his sexual preference.  We didn't even know that Reed Kelly existed.  Wow!  What a roller coaster ride!  :blush

He needs to appear somewhere in the NEAR future, so that we can buy tickets, travel, see each other again, and enjoy Clay singing to us in person.  I am very willing to spend my children's very small inheritance Clay-trekking!  :bigsmile

THANKS FOR THE PIC SUNNY.  A LOT OF STUFF FROM THAT DAY IS MUCH CLEARER TO ME.  MY NEPHEW'S BEST FRIEND WAS IN CHARGE OF THE ENTIRE AFTERNOON EVENT.  THAT IS HOW CHRISTIE AND I GOT TO WATCH THE Q AND A FOR THE EMPLOYEES.  OMG, THAT WAS SO COOL TO STAND AND STARE AT HRH FOR 30 MINUTES.  THE STUPIDEST QUESTIONS EVER, BUT HE LOOKED SOOOOO GOOD.  ANYWAY, IT WAS MY NEPHEW'S FRIEND WHO DID THE QUESTIONING AND WAS TOTALLY CERTAIN I WOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A SPECIAL "PRIVATE" MOMENT WITH CLAY AFTER THE EMPLOYEE THING.  WELL, JEROME WAS LIKE---FORGET IT.  THE FRIEND COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT JEROME WAS SO PROTECTIVE OF CLAY IN SUCH A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.  NOW I KNOW WHY.  REED WAS THERE.  THE FRIEND PROBABLY HAD NO IDEA WHO REED WAS AND NEITHER DID WE.  SO, ONE QUESTION TOTALLY ANSWERED.

GOTTA GET SOME COFFEE.  BBL.  I HAD SOME THOUGHTS TO SHARE AND THEY ARE RIGHT IN LINE WITH WIS BARB SO.......

If Reed is the man we all hope he is, he would love "audition Clay" just as much as he hopefully loves "made over Clay".   I would hope that he's not that shallow.  He looks a little like a dork himself at times when he's not made up and posing. 

Why does everyone get so excited hoping and speculating that Clay is with Reed?  I'd rather hope and speculate that he's with his son.   He is a Dad afterall.   I would hope he spends the majority of his time being with Parker. 

I'm sure Clay spends as much time with Parker as he can. Parker probably spends a lot of time with each parent either together or apart.
I hope and speculate that he is spending time with Reed because I think he deserves a social life as well and since he's not been able to be open in the past I'm very happy that he can be now. Happy for him and his family. I remember all the years that Clay would never go to social events and seemed to dread any public appearances and its so nice to finally see him at some events and looking so happy.

I have lots of packing and last-minute  plans to attend to before we leave for CA on Thursday, so,  to be honest, right  now Clay is far from my thoughts.  I know my posts have been very "drifty" lately, which reflects my current "distracted" state of mind!   :hypno  Since right about now real life is so good, (for a change) I'm going to focus on that.  Maybe when I return we'll have some concrete news about Clay and future appearances.   That would be the icing on the wedding cake for me!!!!!  :bouncy

I LOVED THE BLOG.  I LOVED HOW HE TOLD US ABOUT 30 ROCK WITHOUT TELLING US.  I LOVE HOW HE IS CHOMPING AT THE BIT---IMHO--TO TELL US OTHER THINGS THAT HE FEELS HE CAN'T YET.  HE KNOWS THIS FANDOM AND THERE IS NO WAY HE IS GONNA USE TERMS LIKE NON-DISCLOSURE  FOR NOTHING.

I LOVE THAT HE CAN BE IN CHAPEL HILL BUYING A NEW CAR AND THEN IN NYC SUPPORTING A FRIEND.  IT DOESN'T MEAN HE ISN'T THERE FOR HIS SON.

I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT PARKER.  HE WILL KNOW THAT HIS FATHER ADORES HIM.  CLAY WILL BE THERE FOR HIM WHEN HE HAS TO BE.  CLAY AND REED HAVE TO GRAB ONTO WHATEVER MOMENTS THEY CAN BECAUSE IN SHOW BUSINESS, ONE OR BOTH OF THEM IS ALWAYS GONNA BE ON THE MOVE.  I DON'T BEGRUDGE CLAY PERSONAL TIME.  I DON'T THINK JAYMES DOES EITHER.

THEY HAVE A WEIRD RELATIONSHIP.  WE ALL SAID THAT AND KNEW THAT FROM THE TMZ LEAK.  BICOASTAL.  WE DON'T KNOW WHERE SHE IS OR IF PARKER IS WITH HER OR CLAY.  OR BOTH.  I DON'T FOR ONE MINUTE THINK JAYMES IS ALWAYS IN RALEIGH WAITING FOR CLAY TO COME HOME.  SHE HAS A LIFE, FRIENDS, AND MAYBE A BOYFRIEND. 

WHAT WAS NORMAL FOR BARRY, ER, AND ME MAY NOT HAVE BEEN NORMAL FOR OTHERS AND WHAT IS NORMAL FOR JAYMES, CLAY, AND PARKER IS NOT NORMAL FOR ME.  KIDS ARE SO FLEXIBLE.  I CANNOT IMAGINE CLAY NEGLECTING PARKER SINCE HE HAD SO MUCH CRAP FROM THE ROTTEN FATHERS HE HAD.

TOTALLY DIFFERENT TOPIC AND WHAT I MEANT EARLIER TODAY.  I COULDN'T SLEEP LAST NIGHT FOR SOME REASON AND On My Way Here CAME INTO MY HEAD.  I REMEMBERED HOW EXCITED CLAY WAS ABOUT IT WHEN HE TALKED TO LYNDA L AND HOW HE SAID IT REFLECTED HIS OWN PAST 5 YEARS.  THEN, AS RELEASE TIME CAME OUT WE HEARD THAT THE PROMO WOULD BE IN 2 PARTS.  THEN, CLAY CHANGED WHAT HE SAID ABOUT THE CD DURING THE MINUTE AND A HALF OF PROMO.  ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WASN'T ABOUT HIS LIFE AT ALL.  THE CD DROPPED AND NO SECOND PROMO.  NOTHING AND THEN CLAY IS FINISHED WITH RCA.  I AM THINKING THAT RCA JUST DIDN'T WANT TO GET INTO THE ENTIRE "COMING OUT" AND THAT THEY JUST ABANDONED THE ENTIRE PROJECT.  TOLD CLAY TO CHANGE THE FOCUS.  MOVE ON.  NEXT PROJECT WOULD BE COVERS AND THAT IS WHERE THEY WANTED HIM TO BE.  BARRY M PART 2.  HE SAID NO WAY.  ENTER CINDI'S SPIN THAT THEY COULDN'T COME TO AN AGREEMENT.

GWENN - Is it possible that part of the problem was the "timing" of the release?  If RCA could have envisioned a huge controversy (or two) just weeks following the release of On My Way Here, could that have resulted in big promotions for the CD and big sales??  Clay news hit all over the media regarding the fact that he and Jaymes were going to become parents!!  That was huge news . . . . and his name was EVERYWHERE!  Would that have been an opportunity for RCA to cash in with some enthusiastic further CD promotion?? 

I want to make myself clear.  I would not have wanted On My Way Here to have bigger sales at the expense of Clay's reputation and the bombardment by the tabloids and such.  But, efforts could have been made to promote that CD and have the public hear those songs and have noted the growth of Clay as an artist!  Clay, himself, was very proud of that CD and so very few people have heard it.  Perhaps when the sales were so disappointing, Clay gave up on the "second part" of the promotion. :para

ETA - I think RCA really didn't know what to do with Clay.  I wasn't surprised when Clay and RCA parted ways.  I would like to think that Clay called the shots . . . . but I think RCA decided that it was over.  I hope another label will recognize the opportunities that were lost and will promote his amazing talent.  :clap

BTW - I'm in full agreement about how to describe a "normal" family.  It's all about love!  I feel that Parker is loved by two very special parents.

Actually I'm rather burned out on DWTS this season, as well.  But for some reason I've been more interested in AI this year than I have in a few years.  It's actually enjoyable to see such a high caliber of talented contestants for a change.

Off to the salon to get a mani/pedi.  First time in about 6 months, so I plan to enjoy!  :bouncy  I  especially love the vibrating chair!    :bigsmile

GWENN, I can't stand Ryan either.  I agree that he is a self-serving little weasel and a spineless turncoat. How's that for harsh?   :lol But like it or not, I think he is probably heir-apparent to the Dick Clark throne, so I don't think he's going away soon.   As far as watching him on AI, I simply try to ignore him.  Sometimes I get aggravated, but most of the time I don't even think about him.

MARILYN, good to hear about Clay's appearance on 30 Rock.  I wish Clay were doing more than a cameo appearance, though, as he is capable of so much more acting and comedy-wise.  I'm sure he'll make the most of this opportunity!  Put him in front of a camera and it's showtime!!!

Hope everybody enjoys the day.  The gorgeous spring weather we've had here the past couple of days will soon be nothing but a nice memory. here in Illinois....

           Daily 10.  It was on the "E" channel at 12.30pm. Anyhow ,it was something about Clay
            I just caught a glimse of him. This is on again at 7.3opm so I am going to watch it.
