Well ladies, Phil and I will be flying to Copenhagen this afternoon to begin our Scandanavian/Russian cruise.  :bouncy I'm not as brave about world travel as I used to be, so I would appreciate your prayers for our safety and health, especially that Phil doesn't have another heart attack on the plane or the ship.  I want us both to see our son finally get married in November!

CLAY CONTENT:  Wouldn't that be something if Clay were to appear in the opening ceremonies of the Olympics???  I'm going to try to watch from the ship!!!

There seems to be a problem with the recent posts column to the left  -- as it was updating earlier, even after the rollback, but no longer seems to be.  Maybe it is my computer, and it is just somehow not refreshing from before -- or maybe this is something Michael needs to know?

Maybe the fans that are too invested in him will end up leaving because he's not doing what they want.

People are angry that he's staying on the east coast for a while... that he's not touring for On My Way Here... that he's repeating a role and not "growing"....

Good Lord, "people" need to calm the heck down. I think some folks are so personally invested in him that they believe he's equally personally invested in them--and makes these decisions just to tick them off. :hypno

Ok well you were writing about being a dancer, and I said that's the one skill I DON'T have - ha!

I was a professional opera singer, then ended up doing -- gasp, musical theatre, mostly in California.

After 20 years of doing that, I quit and had a baby. BTW I was an older, at risk mom so I have a little bit of a sense of what Jaymes went thru, altho I didn't have IVF. My daughter is turning 18 next month!

I understand completely why Clay has chosen to go back to Spamalot. Beside being the best for his family right now, he was completely loved in New York, and received great recognition from the entertainment community - something he did not get in Los Angeles.

That being said, I am a little disappointed. He has "been there, done that". I was hoping that the next time he was on Broadway it would be in a new show, where he would be eligible to be nominated for a Tony. Even with his success in Spamalot, he is still a replacement in a role that gave David Hyde Pearce the recognition that we all want for Clay. Hopefully, if he can bring Spamalot back into the Top 10 Broadway shows again, as he did every week he was in the show before, it will open new opportunities for him.

Good for the fans who live close and will be able to go several times - that does not include me. At least now we know no tour at least for a while - I can spend my tour money on some furniture for the house.

What an awful thing that Claymaniacs lost one of the most important weeks in Clay's life. It's too bad last week had to be deleted.

And - Time Magazine 8/25/08 - NO CLAY
  The was an interview with Katherine McPhee on the "Newsmakers" page. She is starring in a movie. The interviewer asked if she gets many questions about her marriage to a man 19 years older than she is, and Katharine said that no one ever mentions it! (Clay should be so lucky!)

I have not read back - how is this going to affect Clay's appearance at the Gala in October (the Gala is not on a Monday - aren't there two performances of Spamalot on Saturdays?)  - has he arranged to be off from Spamalot that day?

It' s like when your kids grow up and move out of the house....everything changes.  Clay is a parent now and his responsibilities have changed.  Give him some time, I think we may get Clay back (he never was one for sitting still!)  We can only hope!!

I have been asking this for 5 years, and I am going to ask it again. I wonder why Clay CDs are not sold at his concerts and other appearances?

Clay knows quite well that people have paid to fly across the country to see his shows... to follow him to 3 and 4 shows in succession... staying in hotels... eating out... etc. He's even auctioned off front row tickets with meet-n-greets for thousands of dollars.

I'm thinking paying an extra 6 bucks for a CD ain't it.

I think we all know that OMC WILL be back with a tour in 2009.

It absolutely amazes me that Clay and his music are constantly being recognized by people in high places and yet he doesn't get the respect he deserves from radio or people who have let the tabloids control their opinion of him. 

The latest examples are having On My Way Here as one of the songs on a CD celebrating the Olympics and the PSAs he is making for the MENC.   I hope this type of recognition makes him feel good because it is just another way that he is making a difference in this world.

Very interesting that he and Marty Stuart were both picked by the MENC this year--goes to show that they are more interested in the complete person rather than just the tabloid reports and gossip.

One reason I haven't seen on any boards is my theory. I was shocked to learn from many acquaintances, including family members that nearly every CD they have they get free from the net..mostly illegally. They have NO idea this is hurting the artists. This came to my attention when I was trying to gift On My Way Here CD's to those who like him, but never get around to actually following him other than through me. This year I heard over & over again.."already have it.".their son/daughter/husband etc. got it from the net and didn't pay a penny.  I tried to explain but they don't or won't understand, if something can be gotten free why pay for it? Everybody does it. I said "IT"S STEALING".  :naughty

I went grocery shopping recently, while not being altogether sure, that course of action was a wise one.  You see, the previous evening I had prepared and consumed a massive quantity of my patented 'You're definitely going to shit yourself' chili. Tasty stuff, albeit hot to the point of being  painful,  which comes with a written guarantee from me that if you eat the next day both of your a$$ cheeks WILL fall off.
 
Here's the thing. I had awakened that morning, and even after two cups of coffee (and all of you know what I mean) nothing happened.  No 'Watson's Movement 2'. Despite habanera peppers swimming their way through my intestinal tract, I appeared to be unable to create the usual morning symphony referred to by my next door neighbors as thunder and lightning.

Knowing that a time of reckoning had to come, yet not sure of just when, I bravely set off for the market; a local Wal-Mart grocery store that I often haunt in search of tasty tidbits.  Upon entering the store at first all seemed normal. I selected a cart and began pushing it about dropping items in for purchase. It wasn't until I was at the opposite end of the store from the restrooms that the pain hit me.
 
Oh,  don't look at me like you don't know what I'm talking about.  I'm referring to that 'Uh oh, gotta go' pain that always seems to hit us at the wrong time. The thing is, this pain was different. The habaneras in the chili from the night before were staging a revolt. In a mad rush for freedom they bullied their way through the small intestines, forcing their way into the large intestines, and before I could take one step in the direction of the restrooms which would bring sweet relief, it happened.

The peppers fired a warning shot. There I stood, alone in the spice and baking aisle, suddenly enveloped in a noxious cloud the likes of which has never before been recorded. I was afraid to move for fear that more of this vile odor might escape me.  Slowly, oh so
slowly, the pressure seemed to leave the lower part of my body, and I began to move up the aisle and out of it, just as an elderly woman turned into it.
 
I don't know what made me do it, but I stopped to see what her reaction would be to the malodorous effluvium that refused to dissipate, as she walked into it unsuspecting. Have you ever been torn in two different directions emotionally? 

Here's what I mean, and I'm sure some of you at least will be able to relate. I could've warned that poor woman but didn't. I simply watched as she walked into an invisible, and apparently indestructible, wall of odor so terrible that all she could do before gathering her senses and running, was to stand there blinking and waving her arms about her head as  though trying to ward off angry bees. This, of course, made me feel terrible, but then made me laugh. Mistake.
 
Here's the thing. When you laugh, it's hard to keep things 'clamped down', if you know what I mean. With each new guffaw an explosive issue burst forth from my nether region. Some were so loud and echoing that I was later told a few folks in other aisles had ducked, fearing that someone was robbing the store and firing off a shotgun.  Suddenly things were no longer funny. IT was coming, and I raced off through the store towards the restrooms, laying down a cloud the whole way, praying that I'd make it before the grand mal assplosion took place.
 
Luck was on my side. Just in the nick of time I got to the john, began the inevitable 'Oh my God', floating above the toilet seat because my ass is burning SO BAD, purging. One poor fellow walked in while I was in the middle of what is the true meaning of 'Shock and Awe'. He made a gagging sound, and disgustedly said, 'Sonofabitch!', then quickly left.
 
Once finished I left the restroom, re-acquired my partially filled cart intending to carry on with my shopping when a store employee approached me and said, 'Sir, you might want to step outside for a few minutes.  It appears some prankster set off a stink bomb in the store. The manager is going to run the vent fans on high for a minute or two which ought to take care of the problem.'

That of course set me off again, causing residual gases to escape me. The employee took one sniff, jumped back pulling his shirt up to cover his nose and, pointing at me in an accusing manner shouted, 'IT'S YOU!', then ran off returning moments later with the manager. I was unceremoniously escorted from the premises and asked none too kindly not to return.

Home again without having shopped, I realized that there was nothing to eat but leftover chili, so I consumed two more bowls. The next day I went to shop at Albertson's. I can't say anymore about that because we are in court over the whole matter.  Bastards claim they're going to have to repaint the store... He must have gotten ahold of my chili recipe.. lol

I'm thinking that could be true in this case too Shelley.  Ending a 23 year marriage and going immediately into another one may be a little unsettling.

I remember two "May-December" romances back in the 70's--Burt Reynolds and Dinah Shore, and John Travolta and Diana Highland.  Those women were 15-20 years older than the men, and those relationships were the subject of lots of gossip.  Neither couple got married because the women didn't want to.

Mary Tyler Moore is married 25 years to a guy 18 years younger.

Julianne Moore is married 5 years to a guy 9 years younger.

Ralph Fiennes is married 11 years to a woman 19 years older.

Demi Moore is 15 years older than Ashton, they are married 3 years.

Geena Davis is married 7 years to a man 15 years younger.

think Clay is going to be extremely protective of Parker. I'll be surprised if we get to see any pictures of him for a long time, maybe even a year. I also think he'll discourage questions about him if he does the stage door at Spamalot. Most fans know enough not to ask questions till he's ready to say something about it but there is always those ones that will bug him about it and make it harder for the rest.

I agree that it'll probably be awhile before we see a picture of baby Parker.  I think it was a really nice, and smart move for Clay to make the baby announcement to his OFC.  Many of the stories from other media sources quoted that source.  I really think that Clay wanted to wait until Parker was here, all safe and sound, before he made any announcement, and I'm sure he knew that the Clay nation was wondering what happened to him.

I can only imagine how cute that baby is.  Whose coloring does he have?  Whose temperament?  I bet he'll definitely have some "music" genes coming from dad and mom!!  Bye for now.

It's a montage seemingly made by an ex-fan who seems to be pretty upset about the baby out of wedlock. Why don't they take their frustration out on housework or something and leave the rest of us alone. lol

I thought it was against Club rules to post blogs in their entirety...even in a video. :scratch

The montage maker also has opinions on genetics, cloning, abortion, etc and mixes those opinions in her montage. Perhaps the montage maker needs to look up the definition of "in vitro fertilization" because it doesn't mean messing with genetics to make the kind of baby you'd like. I sincerely doubt anyone who has gone through in vitro would say it is synonymous with 'convenience'. And what does abortion have to do with Clay, Jaymes, Parker, or in vitro? :scratch

Having an issue with out-of-wedlock births is one thing, everything else she is upset with is something entirely different. Most people who are upset or disagree with Clay's choice just posted a comment or blogged about it. But to take time to create a video montage about someone you used to be a fan of is a little over the top. She says "I was a Clay fan". Ok. Was. Move on. If you aren't a fan of someone anymore why waste your time on them?

I do hope he will be able to experience a deep and abiding bond with a cherished someone...and if this is Jaymes...I am glad for him...love like that is rare enough.  ...I love how at ease he is around both Jaymes and David...and I think the world of David talents as a pianist...just getting acquainted with Jaymes's gifts...

I hope with all of my heart that should a baby be coming their way that they are able to savor all of the joy such a miracle it is.

I realize some things are done differently in the south so maybe it's just me. :shrug

WELL, THE BEAT GOES ON.  BARRY'S APPOINTMENT FOR THE MRI WAS AT 6:45.  WE GET THERE AND THEY TELL US IT WILL BE DELAYED CAUSE OF TECHNICAL PROBLEMS.  TURNS OUT, A HOSPITAL ASSISTANT PUSHED A BUTTON HE WASN'T SUPPOSED TO.  THE MACHINE HAD TO REBOOT.  TOOK 2 HOURS.  SO, WE DIDN'T GET HOME UNTIL AFTER 9. 

WE WERE GONNA GO OUT FOR A NICE DINNER, BUT THE DOGS NEEDED TO BE FED, SO WE GOT A PIZZA.

I'm so glad some of you pointed out that the man that we admire, enjoy, and respect is still there.  He is still extremely talented, generous, and lovable.

I think this is a stop-gap measure that may well lead to that. The article tries to sell the idea of adding "more girl-power" to the show--like that has anything to do with anything.

I think this woman has been added to draw attention away from Paula's odd behavior and insubstantial critiques.

She sounds good tho.  My local Fox station said she wrote a song or songs for Clay.  Don't know if that's accurate or not.
