The thread title is so very appropriate. It is my feeling that Clay has always attempted to handle things on his own terms, but many fans felt that they had a right to judge Clay if "his terms" and "their terms" were not in sync.  It seems that Clay now has firmly established the fact that he will conduct his life "on his own terms".   I sure can live with that! :clap  His terms may not always make the most sense to many of us. . . but he is calling the shots. :hugg

I can hardly wait to find out what his next move will be. :wink

FRANNIE, yikes you're right! Very interesting comparison.  And sometimes, just like Madonna, I  think he enjoys playing us like a violin.  I remember an incident at Musikfest several years ago.  MARION and I were walking around the venue before the concert, and suddenly she pointed out Clay  sitting in some little building with his feet up. (Do you remember that, MARION--sometimes I get mixed up on details.  :bduh  ?) When he saw us and our "girly" reaction, he just started laughing (probably at us).  You know, I think he's got our number.  He teases us and then laughs at us when we come back for more.  Normally I wouldn't put up with that, but I do with Clay because for me it's all in fun!

There was an online news item yesterday that Vern Troyer has filed a $20,000,000 lawsuit against TMZ.  (just mentionin' -- and this may be old news -- he's probably not the only one who is denting their bottom-feeding bottom line with legal defense expenses).

I don't understand that either.  I love that song and I watched the whole AOL Session this morning.  Day by day new people are giving the CD a chance and usually they find out what we have known all along--he has an awesome voice and can sing anything.  Too bad this CD wasn't the one put out the last time -- he may not have so many obstacles to overcome. 

Hope everyone is well today...It looks like we are in for another hot day in Raleigh..its already 92, but the humidity is awful.

I was just checking out the Wral fm site and Clay was played again this morning...but what really amazes me is that his position has changed  on the chart,from 66 to 21 in just 3 days..  If our local newspaper would write something about his UNICEF trip to Somalia  I would think that might create more interest in his album, but we are talking about The News & Observer,and for any of you that have dealt with them ,there is the problem.    :bang

A busy day here - I just knew Clay would be at Ruben's wedding - maybe he is still out of the country.

Mimi - Your question about Spamalot - I check every week (NY Times Theatre section) - Spamalot was in the top 10 Broadway shows every week that Clay was there. The show dropped out of the Top 10 the week Clay left, and has never gotten into the Top 10 again. Hope Producers are paying attention!

Look at this!  I would love to see Clay in the Danny Kaye roll!!!!!  This would be perfect for him!  He would certainly pack the house every night!

Godd Evening this is not Clay related but just had to share this laugh about what happened at work today. I work for Zellers (think Kmart) and I was working at the customer service desk, you know doing returns and the like. A lady came in wanting if she could return a Word Search Book. Only this book had the first page done already, So it kinda went like this. ,Me - you want to what? Her - Return this book  I can not find any of the words, it does not have the words that we are suppossed to find. :bduh :bang Me: Let me have a look, here's the word Flue, and the word heat. Her: What you found the word clue? That is not one of the words. Me: No not Clue, flue! So I marked it for her and proceded to find about two more in about 30 sec. This went on for about 5 min with her insisting the words were not there and me finding them. :bduh In the end I told she could not return the book, (that cost about 1.99) and  she left the store. It took all that was in me not to laugh until she left. Just thought I would share that Sat night Chuckle.

Good Morning - Happy Sunday!

I thought that the CNN UNICEF special was going to be on today, but  it is next Sunday - something to look forward to all week, though!

The age difference - my wonderful stepdad was 23 years older than my Mom - and it was a true love match. They had so much in common - loved to dance, and went to the famed Peabody Skyway (in Memphis - the hotel where the ducks swim in the lobby fountain) every Saturday. I wouldn't be concerned about Clay/Jaymes at all if I knew they were in love. If the baby rumour is true, I hope they are!

JUST A BRIEF DRIVE BY.  HAVING BRUNCH WITH A FRIEND AND THEN OFF TO A GRADUATION PARTY. 

HOPE CLAY IS HOME, SAFE, AND ENJOYING THIS DISGUSTING HEAR.

After a month of reading the multitude of reactions to the baby daddy rumor, I want to share some personal thoughts and observations about speculation.  As usual, this a a very L-O-N-G winded post....so, remember, the scroll bar is your friend.   :wink :smile

A tabloid reported a rumor of a very personal nature which linked Clay to the paternity of an unborn baby, due in August, that was conceived by AI to his friend, a 50-year-old woman who executive produced several of his recent CD's, and that Clay would be "involved" in the child's life.  The reported source being someone connected to PR for the mother's famous brother....who later, when questioned by another publication,  said he did not confirm the information reported by the tabloid.  It was printed shortly thereafter, in a spearate "celebrity type publication",  that representatives for the "Fosters," (not sure if someone representing the entire family of Fosters or just Jaymes or just David) said there would be no comment from the Fosters until after the birth.  There has been no comment from Clay either.  This is where the rumor originated, correct?  This is what we were told by a celebrity tabloid to be the truth.  If there is anything else, other than the Roberts telling People Magazine that Jaymes told them she was pregnant back in March, please remind me.  I have a fickle memory.  :lol

Due to the fact that the above rumor is the source of speculation, and we don't have confirmation from Clay or Jaymes about Clay's involvement or lack of involvement in the pregnancy, or the possible motivation of the parents to conceive a child together, or the personal thought processes of those involved in making the decision, or their hopes, desires and dreams for their future as parents or any real , in depth knowledge of their personal relationship, or the real, intimate details of the history of that relationship and how it progressed to where it is today, each individual has processed the rumor, (as it was reported and spun by a tabloid without confirmation from the two people allegedly involved), with our own, personal filters and life experiences, creating pictures in our minds that we personally believe to be the truth, because that's really all that can be done without any in depth knowledge of the truth....speculation.

I continue to remind myself every day that despite the numerous, differing spins and scenarios that fans personally have come to believe about Clay's involvement in this pregnancy, or his relationship with Jaymes.... whether married, not married, madly and romantically in love, special friends, sperm donor to a friend, etc......or, their beliefs about the degree of involvement he plans in the child's life....whether full-time dad living in the same house, a partner in parenting with full and equal rights to decision making, part-time dad parenting across the country, a special friend to the child with no intent to ever reveal his paternity, Uncle Clay with visits on birthdays, holidays and special occasions, etc.....despite all of the scenarios based solely on what we think we know about Clay's personal life, values, thought processes, there really is only ONE TRUTH, and that is something we are not privy to and may never know. 

Regardless of speculation is the fact that Jaymes' personal privacy was violated by an industry of money seeking, self-serving low lifes who feel it is their right to create and foster public mockery of anyone they believe will garner them an audience.  They feel it's everyone's right to know everything about everyone.   It disturbs me that people in the tabloid industry and their patrons have no consideration or respect for the dignity of an unborn child.  Doesn't a child have the right to be born into the world without a large scale, tabloid media circus of speculation and ignorance about his/her creation?  Don't parents of a child have the right to share news about their future baby when and if they choose?  The rights of so many people in this situation have been interfered with and disrespected....Jaymes, the child, the father and all of their family and friends.  IIT, we have no way of knowing the intent of the parents regarding the privacy of the circumstances.  I despise the tabloids for rudely and thoughtlessly interfering with the dignity and rights of an innocent, unborn baby,  and for carelessly reporting a rumor of such a private nature that has created 1,001 different scenarios among the NJU's and fans, which has resulted in people believing with certainty that they know who the "real" Clay Aiken is, what he is thinking, what his values are, the nature of his personal relationships with Jaymes, God, his family and friends, his spiritual beliefs, his preferences for women or men and their age demographics, and that it some how speaks volumes and with absolutely certainty to the fans that he hasn't addressed the rumor.......take your pick as to which of the scenarios to believe due to the silence (a.) It most definitely is true, (b.) It could be untrue because Clay doesn't talk about his personal life  (c.) It's probably false because Clay doesn't address the tabloid and rumors (d.) It could be true (e.) It could be false, (e.) It's most definitely not true, etc.  :lol

It is my personal hope that whatever the TRUTH may be, that each individual fan is open to the possibility of needing to tweak their own personal fantasy about Clay and the situation, and that they will be able to accept favorable and unfavorable reactions from other fans.   Speculation and fantasies are entertaining, but have the potential to create disappointment when overshadowed by the revelation of the truth.  I continue to remind myself to be open and accepting of the truth and see my fantasies as ever changing, speculative adventures of my imagination conjured up to fulfill my own, personal psychological needs.  And, remind myself that a human life is about to be born into the world who deserves respect and consideration of privacy and that my speculation and resulting opinions and beliefs are no match for the truth.

And, more power to all the fans who just don't give a hoot about Clay's personal life.  Ya'll are soooo smart!  :lol

You followed the tabloid rumor from the day it was printed and reminded us on the path that it took to hurt those personally affected by it, the impact on families, fans, a career . . . and a reminder that, in the end, 99% of it is based on speculation.

I need not reiterate all of the intelligent points that you made in your post.  I have nothing to add.

When, and if, the truth is ever known, each fan can certainly process the situation to fit their comfort level in the fandom.

Not all celebs would join the group, because some actually like the attention (be it positive or negative). That appreciation of attention often has a part in why a person becomes a celebrity in the first place.

And those who do join might not want to give up what it is that makes them "celebrities" in the first place--which is also what makes them, according to the law, fair game for tabloids, gossip columnists, etc. "That" being the amount of money they get paid to do their jobs, and the fringe benefits made available to them because of what they do.

It might be easier to try to educate the general population that stories found in tabloids and gossip sites are irresponsible, generally malicious, and most often, made up. :shrug

Then again, maybe not. A lot of people like to read and believe this stuff. It provides an escape from their day-to-day lives, and allows them to feel better about themselves. :hypno

Just up from a very lo..o.....n.......g... Sunday afternoon nap.  Thank you for your enlightening post, JILL.  I'll just add my own  :word to yours and to he ensuing responses to your post.  I am touched especially by those who are focusing so much of their concern on the poor innocent unborn child who may end up with ao many strikes against him/her as so as the first breath is taken.   That continues to be my #1 concern.  As to Clay and Jaymes and whatever choices they make in their lives, they are adults who should and will be able to deal with whatever PR challenges come to them.  May the good Lord bless them with the strength and resolve to overcome whatever is ahead for them;  however my most fervent prayer remains for this special spirit about to make his/her entrance into this crazy world.


SUNNY, so true.  Sadly some people need to fill their lives with "this stuff" to give them a sense of purpose.  Why they don't seek to fill their minds with good books, good music, spiritual pursuits or whatever is beyond me, but who am I to judge, that's for sure!!!

I think first and foremost we should consider this innocent little baby and hope and pray that Jaymes has an uncomplicated delivery and a healthy baby.

Integrity? Of course, that's not necessarily a common characteristic for some people.

Of course, some "stars" flaunt their kids in front of the cameras. Hopefully, they'll take the heat off other parents who like to keep their young'ns out of the limelight.

My dear, Jill, you are one very wise woman!  Thank you for that heartfelt post, and for reminding us, once again, that as of this moment, what was reported by the tabloid, TMZ is a rumor.....nothing more.  Any speculation as to any relationship between Jaymes and Clay, or paternity is just that......speculation.  We don't know Clay's thoughts, dreams, fears regarding his personal life, nor should we.  I pray that Jaymes has a healthy baby, and that she can carry it to full term.  I pray that the child grows up in a loving, nurturing home.  And I pray that it never finds out about it's introduction by a tabloid to our world. 

Oh, and one more thing.  I hope that all those who write the fabrications for these tabloids, with no regard for the lives they may be hurting or distroying, meet Karma someday.

I was on W44th Street and actually ate at John's Pizza with some friends...  I went to see Cirque Dreams.  Actually it has a limited engagement and the Broadway Theater on 53rd ST it is in will house  SHREK THE MUSICAL....!!!   COINCIDENCE?????

It was quite good...But, what I really want to tell you is.........

Seeing the SPAMALOT Marquee as I turned the corner on 8th Ave was so warmly familiar and strangely  ghostly at the same time......The area felt   empty, and  yet bustling with tourists and patrons..I guess the truth is that it has become....  "HIS" block and will be so forever for me....

Marion, I understand your feelings on 44th. Street and Spamalot.  I feel the same way.  It was such an exciting time in the Claynation.  Hopefully, somewhere down the road, he'll do Broadway again.  But, for now, I'm hoping a tour is in our future.....a pop tour.  I don't believe we'll see one this year, but maybe in the Spring.  Maybe we'll get a short Christmas tour.  Please, Clay!   :please    No, I ain't to proud to beg.   :wink

Just tried to call Glory's hospital room - no answer this time. I don't know, of course, if she is out of the room having tests or if she may have been discharged. When she went to the hospital last night, she thought she was having complications from a surgery she had last year. I will keep checking.

Jan - she is in Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, Indiana - I got the number off the internet, and I'm sure you can get the address, there, too. Or if you (or anybody else) wants to send a card to Glory at home, just send me a p.m.

I will keep trying to contact her - I know she does have friends in her apartment complex, but there is no family in her town.

I agree, FRANNIE.  And frankly, I don't understand why they needed to put a quote from Clay in an article about Ruben.  Ruben should be able to celebrate a special occasion like his wedding without having to be once again linked to Clay.  I sometimes wonder when and ifl this winner/runner-up thing will ever go away?  AAARRGHGHG.

MICHELLE, as to Fantasia' role in "The Color Purple", I think the PTB in AI used their influence to get her this role.  After all, why should Fantasia, "the AI winner" have a lesser career than Jennifer Hudson, who didn't even make it to the AI finals?  Again, it seems this AI thing stays with these people for a lifetime.

I am sure Clays heart was breaking seeing those poor starving children. It takes a very strong person to get through something like that. But Clay has what it takes. Actually, the clothes are different.  The jacket in the first one is black, in the second, it's navy.  The shoes are different, and the jeans are different.  In the first picture, the jeans are more bell-bottomed.  The legs are straighter in the second, and not as washed out looking.  I don't believe they were taken the same day.

She looks bigger in the first photo to me. How many of you who have children wore high heels during your last 2 months? My feet were so swollen I did good to get flat shoes on - no way I could have stumbled around in heels - and I was 22 when my last baby was born (20 when I had my first baby). And while we are on the subject - the tabloid story that she is planning to get pregnant with her second baby when this one is 6 months old - that is laughable. Having one baby after 50 is a miracle - no intelligent person could expect to get pregnant so easily at age 50 6 months after giving birth - that is the most stupid tabloid story so far (but I have no dobt that they can come up with something even wilder).

Just came on to post a magazine (Newsweek - No Clay). I was horrified to read an article in Newsweek called "Dishing Dirt". It listed the Top 5 gossip sites, and their hits per month. TMZ is #1 with 300 MILLION hits per month.  #2 is the Slime Bag with No Name (the one that has his own TV show now) - he gets 211 MILLION hits per month. the #3 site "only" gets 26 million hits.  I am beginning to think there is no hope - can't believe that many people have nothing better to do  :bduh And #1 and #2 seem to have it in for Clay  :para No wonder he has gone into hiding. Hope he is happy and having some fun wherever he is.

While waiting for the steam cleaners to get here, I've been catching up on some of the On My Way Here reviews at Amazon...thought you'd enjoy reading this one...especially to help off set the ugly tabloid world view...we won't let it eclipse our joy and our love of our guy (and all whom he loves!)  Here it is:

Frankie, that is mystifying.  I read, a while back, that the number of hits doesn't necessarily mean the number of people.  Apparantly, each time you move from page to page within the website it's considered a hit, so if you read several differn't things, each one is counted as a hit.  Whatever, that's still way too many brain cells dying each month.  Whatever happened to reading books?

I went to Sirlinksalot and clicked on Clay Aiken as I always do. Tonight it read,As the Clayby turns. I clicked it BEFORE I realized it was TMZ. No need to give it any additional hits, but the jest of it was the same picture that has been shown here of Jaymes. The article said the same,...barely any sign of pregnancy. Hummmm, could the dirty little tabloid be trying to retract on their original story that MAY have been FABRICATED.

Sorry if I was not supposed to post that here, but I am so mad when Clay has to get hurt with articles :bang :bang  :bang

I think what disturbs me the most about these numbers is that so many of the viewers are teens and even preteens who have nothing better to do this summer than to watch garbage like this on TV  And during these years they are developing their "taste" in entertainment.  Heaven help us.  Whatever happened to hopping on a bicycle and going to the library to get some good books to read?  OK, I'm sounding like a real old fart right about now.   :para

Thanks clayharmony  for bringing that here. Its always nice to read comments like these about the new CD on Amazon or anywhere else. The only thing that irks me though is the comments from other fans who were disappointed in this new CD and granted that is abosolutely fine but  to read some comments like this "those who enjoyed this CD or gave it high reviews must be the diehard claymates" on Amazon, I'm like what's that supposed to mean? :bduh  :bduh

And why oh why do some of them can't move past his first CD? Even my sister whom I gave a copy of this CD was like expecting it to be more like MOAM.  :soapbox

[I think the steam cleaners thought I was a little nuts spending money on a sectional I was given for free by a friend, who had received it herself from a friend...you know how that goes... it's probably 25 years old...and speaking of old...I still have/had my grandmother's oak bedroom set...and the bed finally crashed one night last week...oh yeah, it was only about 110 degrees...and I was trying to keep cool, sleeping on the 'sofa'...no go...tried to amuse myself on the Internet and Earthlink crashed...which it almost never does!...and then a cable channel went out in the middle of that night, too...some times things get a little wonky, don't they. ] (My decor used to be called 'early divorce' ...but I hate to tell you how out of date that handy descriptor is... :wink)

BTW Jules, you are hardly stone deaf... quite the opposite, I believe.  And, Jaymes...I sure hope that she is finding a zone of peace and love somewhere as she awaits the birth of her child.  May she know how many Clay fans wish her well and hope that this amazing time in her life brings her great happiness.

Just a thought, but I feel that we sometimes are more upset about what is happening to Clay than Clay is.  He's pretty tough and more than a little stubborn on occasion.  I just don't see him losing much sleep over the gossip and haters.  At least I hope he's not losing much sleep!!  We need OMC happy and alert!!

I hope Clay is home too!! I just wanted to say that we should continue to pray for him.  I f you look at the shots he has to take for these trips, and the side effects...ouch!  Also, for weeks after he returns, he'll be on medication.  Also many lousy side effects.  We have friends that take mission trips alot and people tend to forget all the preparations (shots) and after effects. (meds)  God bless Clay.

I went to the grocery store to stock up for the weekend.  When I got home Phil was shivering in bed under about 4 blankets with a sweatshirt on.  I took his temperature (men never think to do that  :bang) and he had a 103.4 fever.  Of course I've given him Tylenol and lots of water.  I called the doctor and he said to just keep an eye on him.    Hopefully it's just a short-term virus.  Prayers would be appreciated, as of course in the back of my mind I'm worried about a blood infection or something from the stent he had put in his artery last fall.    Thank you.   :ghug :pray

American entertainer visits north-west Somalia and urges the world to remember Somali children

Nairobi, Kenya, Tuesday 1 July 2008 – A five-day visit to north-west Somalia (the self-declared republic of ‘Somaliland’) has UNICEF Ambassador, Clay Aiken, moved by the work that UNICEF is doing under challenging circumstances. ‘In a country that’s better known for conflict, insecurity, drought and floods, it’s truly remarkable that UNICEF is still able to make a difference to the health, education and well-being of Somali children’ said Aiken.

The ambassador traveled to Hargeisa, Gabiley and Boroma to see first-hand, UNICEF-supported projects to promote child health, safe water, sanitation and hygiene, primary education, child protection and girls’ empowerment.

Somalia is a country in which less than 25% of the population has access to basic health services, less than 30% attend primary school and only 29% have access to a safe water source. It's also a place where 98% of girls are circumcised and has amongst the highest maternal mortality rates in the world.

Playing basketball with girls in the enclosed facility of the Somaliland Cultural and Sports Association (SOCSA), Aiken saw the opportunity given to females by the UNICEF-supported organization. ‘Here, girls are able to learn about leadership and health, acquire life-skills and play sports within a safe environment. Even the youngest girls that I’ve met at SOCSA, impressed me with how confident and articulate they are as a result of this project.’

At a camp for 1500 internally displaced families in Hargeisa, Aiken met 11 year old Abduraman, who helps to support his five siblings and blind mother by working each morning to collect stones. He uses his earnings to pay for school which he attends in the afternoon. ‘Somalia has some of the lowest enrollment rates in the world, but every child has the right to an education. UNICEF is working to help ensure that even working children get to go to school.’ UNICEF has also provided the camp with child protection monitors, teacher-training and school materials.

In Boroma, Aiken saw how the town’s water system is functioning thanks to UNICEF support. Under a public/private partnership, the system provides clean water to 95% of the town’s population including schools and hospitals. Aiken also visited maternal and child health clinics to see nutritional feeding and immunization activities along with projects supporting children with disabilities, the eradication of female genital mutilation/cutting and the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

‘Now that I have seen Somalia for myself, I feel it is important for the American public to remember that the Somali people have the same dreams for their children that we do. Somali families still want the best for their children and people really want to help bring about change. Though the situation in Somaliland is less dangerous for children than in the south, the country is one of the most desperate in the world. The country has been without a functioning government for almost twenty years. Fortunately, UNICEF has always been there and continues to provide the support needed to make a difference. No other organization is more capable of making such a difference than UNICEF."

I read the article on Relief Web and it made me sad just by reading it.  I can't imaging how Clay feels after spending five days there and seeing people in the most severe conditions imageable.  That has got to have an affect on him -- how could you see all that and not be affected.

After all this, he certainly deserves some down time and I hope he is getting some R & R and not concentrating too much on what he saw--he can, and does, bring attention to the situation -- but he can't solve it all by himself.

So proud of him.  He is so passionate about helping children who are in harm's way. I love it when he is quoted.  He lets us experience what he is seeing and feeling . .  in his own words. Hopefully, his words will result in a generous response from the public so that Unicef can continue their work.

 Phil seems to have bounced back from his health setback yesterday.  I still maintain that it was heat exhaustion or heat stroke.  We Midwesterners tend to be wimps when it comes to dealing with heat and humidity!

Off to the airport in about an hour to pick up half of our houseful for the weekend.  I definitely will have to cure P's girlfriend of calling me "Mrs. Mc".  That's how she addresses me in her e-mails.  I can't wait to meet her.  Older son & fiancee will be driving in from Chicago tomorrow afternoon.  They'll be going to see the big fireworks extravaganza at Grant Park in Chicago this evening.  After that I'm sure they'll be very impressed with our dinky little fireworks display  tomorrow night in smalltown, America!!!!   :para  :lol

Off to see the big "Clay in Somalia" reveal.......Hope it's only the first of many photos to come.  'Wish he could end up on the cover of Time Magazine in recognition of UNICEF'S noble efforts to help children in need. Is that asking too much???

Clay is a wonderful man!  I just wish the tabloids, entertainment shows, etc. would stop prefacing their stories with  Daddy to Be, Clay Aiken, etc.  This rumor has not been confirmed.  I agree with Sunny, but why couldn't their stories be just "as juicy" by the  telling of his work with Unicef, without their little tabloid lead-in?  It's just wrong.  It puts a tabloid spin on his good work with Unicef.  Why couldn't they say, Unicef ambassador, Clay Aiken?  Wouldn't that make more sense, as that's the subject of their story?  It's done deliberately, and I hate them for it!   :bang

Even tho we always expect better of these shows they keep reminding us that they are all about the bottom line.  ET used to be on the up 'n up when they started out as the first entertainment show, way back when.  But now they are sliding down the slippery slope of tabloidism, just to keep up their ratings I suppose.  They behave like opportunists and force celebrities to relate to them in the same way.

Guess ya can't get blood from a turnip.  :shrug

I have a suggestion: why dont you( meaning everyone who gets annoyed by tabloidism ) to direct your complaints to this ET and whatever gossip place, that you don't like the reporting they're doing when they mention Clay? Remember what Clay says?.... Use your voice. So complain to the right place and not just rant about it amongst us.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  During the day I watched 1776 the musical. I haven't seen it in a long while.  I really enjoyed it.  But I kept thinking to myself how much I would love to see Clay in the part of Thomas Jefferson.  Then I started to think about other parts I'd like to see Clay in...The Music Man,  Tony in west side story, Dirty dancing...I think you get the idea...anybody have a movie or play you'd like to recast Clay in the lead?   Ideas anyone??????????

I spent today putting together a cabinet to hold all my Clay stuff.  I had put it in a wicker basket but it outgrew that a long time ago and was working its way up the wall.  Now if I can just get the stuff in the cabinet without stopping to read everything.  Yeah, big chance of that.   :bigsmile

I love watching anything Jimmy Stewart did, and to me Clay has the same sense of integrity and honesty about him that JS had - just my opinion, of course! And on a more modern note, I also would love to see him do something with Jim Carrey - Clay has that wicked sense of humour - I think they would be great together - even if it was something animated.

Mimi - I love that you are reporting on radio play. Raleigh should support Clay - hundreds of  thousands of people know more about Raleigh  than they did 5 years ago because of Clay. Look at the financial gain Memphis has from Elvis - I cannot understand why Raleigh stations would not support Clay to the hilt!

I talked to Shirl/ClayObsessed last night. She was traveling about an hour from her home this morning to attend a monthly Clay Fan Club meeting. (She is in California). It is so good to hear that local clubs are still quietly supporting Clay in this way. I know that Meesa and the KC gang still meet monthly, too  :clap

I just watched the CNN Special.  It was good to see the few short clips of Clay but the thing that I wonder after seeing this program is how can Clay be in the middle of all this pain and suffering and not have it affect him.  I guess because he is a very strong and caring person that these trips are the way he does make a difference and, according to the program, differences are being made--one step at a time.

Seeing all this is probably one of the reasons he sees no reason to respond to all the trash thrown at him.  In the face of what is going on with children all over the world, I imagine he feels this is not worth his time  -- he channels his energies to helping people instead of trying to destroy them.

I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see more of Clay and I would have prefered to have the Ambassadors tell their own stories,but I understand that they only have a set time, but way to many commericals.

I was happy with what I saw of Clay even if it was a small clip. This wasn't about him, it was about UNICEF and the stories of the children.

Disappointing not to see more of clay tonight but I agree with everyone, the show was about the children. I look forward to Clay's Unicef blog - hope he really is going to write about his experience.

I think that Clay's small part was recorded months ago because his blond hair was parted in the middle and he later parted it on the side. Now it is brown again.

I loved the boy Clay was on AI but I love the man that he has become even more.

I loved the Unicef program last night.  It's good to see so many stepping up to the plate for these children. 

The unicef program was very informative.  We need more shows like this but put on the major networks, not just the news channels. This is the plight of the majority of the world today.  JMO...but i think this is what keeps Clay's head screwed on right, and how he is able to pretty successfully brush off the nonsense that surrounds celebrity. There's a line from the movie Notting Hill that I really like...the frame thing, it isn't real...ya know!  I think Clay knows that and knew it even before he entered AI.  Clay has mention in the past in relation to a past trip that he cries for hours, alone after he visits these places.
Having said all of that...I was disappointed that Clay was used so little.  It's more than me just liking him so much...He is well read, informed and intelligently forms his opinions.  He is extremely articulate and is able to draw the listener in and explain things while never talking down to them. I am convinced that Clay can do anything and do it well.  Be it magazine news type show, the political arena or host a talk show. IIT...raising a child will be the deciding factor in his decision making for future endeavors, as it should be because he clearly understands celebrity isn't real...but family is. 

Just checking in after the long extended holiday weekend.  Houseguests and family dynamics were near perfection.  Older son J and his fiancee were so sweet and so cute.  I think they'll be good for one another.  This weekend will most certainly go down in "the books" as one of our best family weekends ever.  

I'm now getting ready to take P's special young lady to the airport for her flight back to CA. She has already become like a daughter to me.  Hopefully this will work out well.   P will be taking the train into Chicago for a Midwest conference in his field of Urban Economics.  He will be presenting to his peers, so right now he is very excited and also very nervous!!!

My reaction to Clay's appearance on the UNICEF special last night isn't different from most of yours.  Indeed there were too many commercials and too little Clay, but to see Clay in his ambassador/humanitarian role for only a few minutes made my heart swell with pride.  As to Joel Madden being selected as the new UNICEF ambassador, even younger son "P" said "What??????????"   :para    I'm wondering if the fact that he is baby-daddy to Nicole Richie's little girl has anytthing to do with it.  Nah, couldn't be!!! !

MAINER, that is beyond disturbing about the UN official being shot.  sigh

When Clay first commented on Somalia, he mentioned something happening in the 90's that affect our interaction with this nation so I googled ,then I remembered the mission. So we watched BlackHawk Down.  It helps to explain the desperate situation there and the continuing danger.  WARNING: This movie is VERY violent and rough and not for the squeamish!!!!  

I think Joel Madden will appeal to the younger people, which is a good thing.  He seemed a little nervous, and I can understand that.  He'll do well once he gets acclimated.  I believe he and Nicole have a foundation for children.  I think it great that younger entertainers are getting involved in humanitarian efforts.

Joel Madden and Nicole Richie have the Richie/Madden Children's Foundation. He just seemed very quiet to me, but I've seen interviews with him and his brother Benji before and he seems to be a very quiet guy. I'm sure he'll be a wonderful ambassador. I read the People article about their family (Joel, Nicole and their baby Harlow) and they seem to be very grounded now as a family.

I agree with the person that said that after Clay saw the plight of the people in Somalia (Somaliland?), that being worried about what entertainment gossip rags, blogs, etc. say would not seem very important.  I think we should take his example, and ignore the idiots and do something positive.  "Overcome evil with good".

I saw that movie- it was horrible- I had to turn away many times, but I needed to know if some got out, so I watched it until the end. I would never watch it again, though- it broke my heart to know it was based on a true story.

I was engaged to a Marine combat helicopter pilot who was in Mogadishu when that happened. I watched on the news as insurgents dragged a soldier's body through the streets, cheering. And I thought, "He could be mine."

It was a desperate situation then; I'd hoped things had improved. I'm sorry to see they haven't.

I stayed eight days there in the central highlands of the country in an area that was relatively fortunate when it came to Taliban attacks. Bamyan is in the central part of the mountains and it is just such a beautiful area.

FAVORITE MEMORIES: I remember going to vacation bible school as a kid and reading about how people lived in biblical times with earthen huts and traveling on horses. I remembered that when I walked around Bamyan. You walk around town and all these huts have satellite dishes on top of them and everyone has cell phones, but a lot of people still sleep on their floors. It's a fascinating combination of new and old. The people there were so nice and welcoming.

Thanks for asking, BETTY!  :hugg  Everything is going quite well.  My son, DIL-to-be and I went to the reception place this past Saturday to talk with the director.  We got a lot accomplished that day.  Plus today I finally booked a beautiful String Quartet for the reception.  Although I'd rather have PRISSY's quartet playing, this will do the job!!!

I know this has been said before, but wouldn't a few cold, hard facts straight from Clay and his people help to dispel some of the speculation and rumors flying around about him???   :scratch

Actually I think Jaymes is a very nice lady how could anyone talk bad about her

Sadly there are so many terrible situations for children in this world today, even within our country's shores.  And especially now during this political season of mudslinging among the candidates the media is doing a great job of hiding these situations from us in favor of ratings grabbing stories.  What I don't understand is how they can put crass reality shows like "Moment of Truth" and "Circus of the Stars"  on prime time on the major networks when shows like the CNN discussion of UNICEF this past Sunday is hidden.  Heck, last week I couldn't even find any information about the show on my Dish Network "info" button so that I could record it.  I almost missed the UNICEF show as a result. 

There is outrage, but many of us feel at a loss as to what to do.  Yes, we can use our checkbooks but many of us question how much of these contributions actually get to the children who need it? 

I do know that humanitarian missionaries from many churches, including my own, are over there helping in the trenches.  That is how I contribute, knowing that these doctors, nurses, etc are paying their own way and not asking for any financial assistance so that they can help.  When we contribute, it is with the knowledge that the $$$ will go towards food and medical supplies.  So that is my way of contributing.

In summary, I think we need to encourage the media outlets to publicize these atrocities more actively.  Also, we need to be sure that whatever $$$ we contribute goes to a charity that doesn't take a 40% or so cut for unnecessary expenses.

I just read the field notes and saw the photos - once again, I am so proud to be a card-carrying member of the Clay Nation! Way to go, Clay! No matter what, you always seem to take care of what is really important.  :clap

Mainer - if you are trying to send a private message to one person, you should be able to click on the number of messages underneath your avie (top of the page on the left), and you should be taken to the message center, where you should be able to enter the screen name of anyone on this site, put in a message subject, and post and send a message. If you are getting an error message, one of the Moderators will be able to help you. I just checked, and the message center is working fine for me.

And there were some horrible posts on the OFC the day the baby news came out - pages and pages of horrible messages. IF THE RUMOUR IS TRUE I have a feeling that no one would have said a word if Clay had announced that he and Jaymes were in love and planned to have a family together. I think it is just the idea that "we are friends and we have decided to have a baby because we want one" that bothers a lot of people. Shirl said, after she attended a California Fan Club meeting last Sunday, that she is shocked at  the number of people who are still truly unhappy with Clay and the way he has handled this news - true or not. I think that those of us who think Clay has a right to live his own life as he chooses are in the minority in the fandom - or maybe we are just the quiet ones.

As to the press and magazines - I have  always tried to give positive feedback to every article and TV show  that have featured Clay - and I have always hoped that all other fans take the time to do so, too. It has always been my opinion that we can't sit back and let the press think that we don't care what they do. I signed up for the O.K. Magazine internet poll long ago (I have posted the site to sign up in the magazine thread several times). I get an email once a week asking my opinion about what I want to see in the magazine.  Lots of people think Clay fans should keep quiet because when we speak we are lumped together as a group of crazy people, but I disagree.  O.K. - I'm off my soapbox for now!  :lol :soapbox

Oh my!  His goodness radiates around the world.  He brightens the lives of these precious children, if only for a minute.  He gives them smiles and hopes.  What an extraordinary man!  Kudos to Clay and all who work to make us aware of the plight in our world.  I do believe they are making a difference.

I don't think that fans who question any of Clay's decisions and life choices  should have their "true fan" membership card taken away or their fanship loyalty questioned.  Because, really, what is the exact definition of a "true fan."  People have the right to question anything he does from his choices in hairstyles, clothing, song choices to the selection for mother of his children.  He's a celebrity in the public eye with a group of people....fans....who follow him around, and support his celebrity lifestyle based on the choice of music he makes, the projects he involves himself in, the causes he stand for, the manner in which he presents himself to the public and the image he chooses to portray.  Not everyone is going to love every thing he does.  No one is perfect and not even Clay has the ability to please everyone 24/7. 


I have to disagree with this.  How is it even remotely possible to know with certainty that just because Clay may be having a child with Jaymes she is a fantastic person?  She may be a fantastic person to him, of course, that is possible from his perspective, but I don't see how her relationship with Clay translates to her being a "genuinely fantastic" person deserving of a favorable opinion in the eyes of everyone?

I don't frequent the OFC, so did not see the "trashing" of Jaymes.  That type of behavior lacks class.  However, voicing unfavorable opinions or concerns with respect should be accepted by all fans, whether we agree with the opinoins/concerns or not.  It doesn't mean people who aren't thrilled with the possibility of Jaymes and Clay parenting together aren't "true fans."  IMO...YMMV.

Thank you Gwenn for posting the field blog and Philly for providing the beautiful pictures.  Sounds like Clay had a very eye opening trip.  I'm ready to donate. 

I am in such AWE of this wonderful man.  What joy he radiates to others...How anyone could not love & admire this man is beyond me..   :shrug

          What wonderful pictures. Clay is in his element with children. He looked to have a
    look of great concern when he was holding the little one, he was probably wondering what kind
    of future  was in store for the child. How can anyone hate that wonderful man.
           I do not know Jaymes so can"t pass any judgement. From what I have heard some OFC
      members had a lot of very ugly things to say. If Clay read them he must have been very hurt
      that so called fans could so hastily judge the situation with only trash from tabloids to go on.
       Personally, I can understand why he has not made a statemen, he knows whatever he says
       will be leaked to the slimeballs and twisted. Much as I would love to hear from him I am content to
        wait until we know the whole truth and if we don"t "So be It" Life is far too short for all this hatred.

I believe he still cares.  Clay has shown us in many ways (going through the fan lines ... who else does that!) and he's said many times in the past how much he appreciates his fans.  But we don't know what's going on in his personal life and why he's making the decisions he's making.  He could be burned out and needing some rest, or doing more of his humanitarian efforts.  I'm sure he doesn't publicize everything he does in that arena.  If he's not going to burn out, he can't put the fans first.  I do agree that he could blog just a bit more, but there may be a reason he isn't.  Well, time will tell.  I pray for him and wish him well.  Hope all of you have a great night.

I have not been back to the OFC since the night the baby rumour started - as I've said 100 times before - a really poor excuse for a Fan Club.

Mainer - I thought I was the only one alone in fandom! I am amazed at the people where I live who still, to this day, do not even know what American Idol is, much less Clay!  :lol but at least I am known as the Clay Aiken Fan in town. On the rare occasions that he has had a photo in the Shreveport newspapers (it has happened twice!) people appear with copies for me  :roflmao And if he is on TV, I make Lewis answer the phone, because there will be a string of friends calling to let me know  he is on (as Lewis says, if they just knew that Clay does not sneeze without me knowing it!  :lmao )

I don't know that it has anything to do with questioning Clay. I think some of these people just wanted a close, personal relationship with him so much--and convinced themselves it would happen--that when this story came along, they got an unwanted blast of reality. They're not going to meet him and make him fall in love and live happily ever after with them. Losing their fantasy can make some folks angry. :shrug


The fact of his liking/loving her does not determine for me how good a person she is. It tells me that he likes or loves her; that's all. There's a lot more, in my mind, to being "genuinely fantastic" and "worthy" as a human being than whether or not one is personally loved by Clay Aiken.


The fans can certainly donate, and I think those donations can help a great deal. But becoming soldiers of Clay's causes and striving to "get the word out" to the general population is not, I believe, as beneficial. Movements like that tend to make fans look crazy--and Clay, as our "leader," look even crazier.

we should keep quiet and those who are unhappy with clay should get over it because we stand by OMC

I think it's important that we not judge Clay based upon his POV stated in a book written in 2004.  People evolve.  His choices were made based upon his own reality and we don't know the intimate details of his reality, and neither should we. 

But I do object to being treated so shabbily IMO.   He should at least acknowledge that his fans have been sucked into this unwittingly, that they are having to deal with the fallout.  It would be courteous to put out a simple statement like "Jaymes and I are expecting a baby in August.  We are very happy.  I will be taking familial leave for an undetermined amount of time.  Thank you for your good wishes."

Is that really too much to ask as a member of his fan club?

The field notes as usual  are perceptive, moving and so articulate.. We  see the the best of him as he fulfills his role of Mr. Ambassador.. For just an evening, that is what I'd like to focus on.. The pictures  too speak volumes!!....

I am leaving tomorrow morning for California and the National Hadassah Convention..  This organization as well contributes money, goods, medical equipment drugs  and medical  staff to so many of these impoverished third world nations. Part of what I see are the reports that come in about just that.. from actual leaders and participants.. It is very moving..I also do my share through  my role here..As Thea mentioned, I too know when I contribute and raise funds for this organization that it goes directly to where it should...I think UNICEF does important work, but much has been written and exposed about the workings of the UN and I am a bit skeptical as to   whether  UN administered funds  truly finally gets to those so needy and deserving...

Anyway...on a lighter note....  I am keeping my eyes peeled just in case BF is on the same flight to LA as I am...(He does have to get back to NY and then LA??? one might think??)

I just finished catching up with what has gone on today.  Thanks to all for your wonderful comments.

Reading the field notes and looking at those awesome pictures say so much about this man.  He really does want to make a difference and marches to the beat of his own drum.  We may not understand everything he does--do our own families understand everything we do all the time--but we do know a few things:  he is an absolutely marvelous singer and entertainer and he certainly loves the humanitarian work he does.

Those pictures go from one extreme to the other -- in one he is looking so protective and caring at a little baby that he knows may not even get old enough to go to school; in the other he has such a beautiful smile on his face and his presence and attitude have made all those children around him smile too.  One thing that came to my mind is that these children may not have had anything to smile about for a long time.  At least, he brightened their lives for a short period of time. 

I did not go to the OFC and read any of the horrible comments made about Jaymes by some members so I don't exactly know what went on--although it sounds like it wasn't very pretty.  All I know is that -- whatever is or is not happening -- no one should be so critical of someone they really don't even know or understand.  Sure, it would be nice to hear something from Clay but I don't think that is going to happen for a while.   IINT then it's not his place -- it's Jaymes' place to set the story straight.  I do think Clay is stubborn enough that he will not say a thing because of the whole way it happened. 

I think Sunny hit the nail on the head when she said some of the people slinging mud that night were probably jealous because they wanted to be that important person in Clay's life--wake up and get a life people because it probably ain't gonna happen.

It looks and sounds like we are about to get a storm here so I'd better turn the computer off.  Hope to be back later.

Sorry I have been gone most of today  (although I did get on my soapbox about Clay's field notes a few pages back!  :lol).  My brother decided at the last minute to stay here this afternoon through tomorrow before he gets on the plane back to his home in Maryland.  Nothing like 3 hours notice for an overnight guest!   :hypno :hypno

Anyway, I am thrilled with the two picture links posted by our dear PHILLY.  They reflected Clay's love and devotion to the poor children in Somalia.  He is truly one in a million.

One of his last remarks about a tour was that they're are no plans for one.  It was one of the last interviews he did before his "rest".

I've got my scuba gear on and am ready to take a dive in that 'SHALLOW POOL' myself. Oh but I can't swim and damn OMC doesn't like water so whose going to rescue me?! Well I'll guess I'll just have to settle for 'resuscitation' I mean camp counselor Clay has some training in CPR right? :bigsmile :blush :raft

I have a question too for those of you who were able to meet him at your M & G..when you were held by Clay during your pictures or however close you were, I just wonder:

MICKI, I certainly wish he would rethink those plans for no tour.  I know he is busy with his humanitarian activities and his personal life, but I wish he would reach out to those of us who have been hanging in with him over these past several years.  The best way IMO would be to do a tour, even if it needs to be in small venues. 

Thanks for all the comments today. The pictures of Clay and the Field Notes were awesome and awe inspiring. I donated some money on Sunday after the CNN special.

Re:  Clay's scent....when Clay has his arm around you and you around him, you really don't have the ability to focus on his smell....for me it was all about how it "felt", the "touch"....so can't really say what he smelled like, but I feel confident it was good.  :flower

It was so romantic and euphoric when Clay hugged me. I  had just finished asking him if he had an issue with my cockroaches.  For some reason I forgot to sniff. I can honestly say he did NOT smell sweaty or bad or anything. I usually have a great sense of smell

But the TOUCH- oh my-I remember paying close attention to where my hand was. And I also remember that as he prepared to take his hand from my back, he sort of gave a little rub- I like to think of it as a caress

and Sunny- my hand was behaving itself, unfortunately (or fortunately since Jerome was never far away)

Yes, it was unfortunate.........that they became disentangled so quickly, that is!!!

And THIS time I paid particular attention to the way his cheek felt- warm, a little stubbly........I knew that something like that would never happen again-unless I dreamed about it!

On a more serious note- I read the UNICEF field notes several times. Clay is so very eloquent, and he describes things so well that I had tears in my eyes thinking about all those little children who wouldnt make it- about where will new doctors come from.  I actually had a discussion with one of my new office mates. David was flabbergasted when I told him the statistics. Its so hard to believe but sadly it will be hard to help those poor people without a system of government in place to help organize the country and take care of its people.

I didn't sniff Clay either. I was way too worried about invading his personal space. He put his arm around me and pulled me closer though. Then I went to walk away after and he had shut his eyes (Jamie told him!), so darn it ... I had to do it all over again!  :slick

I swear, the things we have to suffer through, huh?? :lol

Jules -  I was the first member of this Board to win a Meet and Greet (JukeBox Tour - Atlanta). Other Members "helped" me by giving me a list of things to remember during my M&G - one of those was to smell Clay (which tells you the mind set of the people here!  :para :lmao ). As I posted in my M&G recap (you can still read it in the JukeBox Tour Archives, along with recaps of other Meet and Greets) there was no hint of after shave or cologne - he just smelled like a clean, healthy man - and his face was very warm when he put it against mine.   :thud

UNICEF has said that there will be more than one Field Notes post. I agree that the silence has gone on too long. Hope he will at least post a "Hello" soon. I think fans at least deserve that, even if he is mad or hurt - not all fans posted things that would have hurt him.  I know he is busy, but he doesn't move without that phone - and we all know he can Blog from it.

I agree about the silence having gone on way too long.  No tomatoes please, but how does Clay expect to maintain a large fanbase if he refuses to communicate with us either by blogs or promises of tours?  I plan to hang around because for me my Clay Aiken fandom also includes valuable friendships, but some without that emotional connection might start thinking about going where the grass is greener, so to speak.

    I, too, think Clay should have made some kind of communication with the fans by now. He has a right to privacy, but he shouldn't be surprised if he alienates people. He should realize by now that a short blog would go a long way in the fan club. Like Gwenn said, we're thrilled with a crumb. 

 I think he may lose fans because of the way he handles things (especially the fan club) . I only joined the OFC for one year because I thought it was a waste of money. I was hoping to get a M&G, but that never happened. The main reason I didn't rejoin is that many of the posters are so mean to each other.  Somebody on Team Clay needs to revamp the whole fan club. It sounds like it's a real mess now.

   As far as the Unicef appeal, I think it's great he didn't ask us directly for the money. After the last few months, many people would be offended (even though it's a good cause) that the only time he made an effort to communicate with his fans is to ask for money.  He is not putting us under the pressure to raise a certain amount. People who want to, or can give, will.

   I'm proud of the work he is doing for Unicef, and I'm staying a fan, but I definitely see him a little differently right now.

I agree with you ladies,  I think I said this in a past post...but  I had the feeling months ago that something is up.  The silence is intended. Why?  I don't know.  Big changes coming...just a gut feeling.  

It has always looked to me like Clay is conflicted about his fans.  It's a real love/hate relationship.  The way he "handles" us vacillates between love and disdain, so the way we respond is the same. 

It's unclear where his head is at regarding us most of the time--very confusing.  And so we are left to our own interpretations and speculations, which usually are more harsh than the truth.  If he'd just be clear about things we wouldn't have to think about them so much, and we all know how dangerous it is when we think!!!!


Clay is gonna have to learn to juggle his career and his family the way we all had to do it.

All he has to do is throw us a bone, so to speak.

For one thing, I don't think he sees The Fans as one being. He knows there are thousands of us, some calm, some "enthusiastic," and a few wackos. So, I don't think he believes that the negative posts about "Baby Jaymes" speak for all of us. He's not narrow-minded like that.

Second, he gave of himself continuously for, what, 8 months? He probably wants--and needs--time to recharge. He needs to do what he wants to do--see his friends, hang out, have fun--without having to give attention to the "celebrity" side of his life.

Would it be easy to blog? Yeah, but I don't think he likes to. For whatever reason. He probably IM's and texts and emails his friends nonstop. But I don't think he likes to do that OFC blog. Will he lose fans over it? I don't know. If fans want to be lost over it, okay. He doesn't appear to be worried about that right now.

Clay looks exceptionally happy in all of those Somalia pics, so why isn't he more excited about it now that he's back?  I'm not even getting the impression that there will be any coverage by ET or GMA.  Guess he wants to keep a really low profile between now and August.

I think subliminally he is trying to stir up donations by trying to stir up our "outrage", but that's as much as he can do right now without getting himself back into the media spotlight.  And that is a double edged sword because when you get exposure for your cause you also get references to other stories that they are following.  (ie "Daddy to be Clay Aiken"-type intros)

It's true.  If he blogged on the OFC with only a plea for money people would be really PO'd.

EDIT - The Newsletter is a plea for money for Somolia - maybe that will bother some people - not me, though - we are all free to donate if we so choose. I think some fans are confused right now, because Clay has said several times that we are "family". Some people may have taken that literally. We are not, of course, family, even though we worry about Clay as though he was a family member. I would not expect Clay to Blog about his personal life - but a "Hello I am resting and having a good summer" would be nice.

Back to the granddaughters. Going to son's house to let them swim and to get Kaitlyn to dance lessons this evening - will be there until Son and DIL get home from their trip tomorrow.

I'm not fretting.  There may be changes in the works but that doesn't mean they will be bad.  Maybe he is negotiating a new recording contract.  I'm sure there's alot of business being done right now.  Perhaps he is reading scripts in his lounge chair in the backyard!  He's entitled to time off.  I just think he could do alot to help his own cause with just a few simple words and I'm baffled as to why he isn't doing it.

I STRONGLY STRONGLY DISAGREE THAT CLAY TREATS HIS FANS WITH DISDAIN. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE TO THAT EFFECT.  HOW MANY WAYS CAN HE SHOW US HE CARES? IT IS IRRELEVANT TO ME WHAT IS HAPPENING IN HIS PRIVATE LIFE.  TO ME, THIS IS NOT SILENCE, THIS IS CLAY DOING WHAT HE TOLD EVERYONE THAT LISTENED THAT HE WAS GOING TO DO. TAKE TIME OFF. I have really enjoyed the discussions~

It seems to me everytime we try and second guess Clay's decisions that it always turns out all right, so I'm trying not to do that this time around. Remember how a lot of fans speculated (not to long ago )about his decision to do Spamalot ,and about how unwise it would be for his career...well that one sure worked out just fine.

I think OMC is a stubborn person ,and when he says he's taking the summer off,I believe he will indeed take the summer off (there's only 7 more weeks to go). Then in Oct we have the Gala...so we may have to keep each other amused until then ,of course there is the possibility of some news in Aug.(maybe)

We won't all agree on how he should handle things, but we will all agree that we want whats best for him, and its quite apparent he is doing what he thinks is best right now..and non of us know what that is, only he does.

I would love to know what goes through that handsome head of his... but I don't ,and I won't, but I'll sure be waiting whatever  he decides to come up with next. There's always a lot of excitment and mystery in that, so bring it on I'm game for anything  :bigsmile

Clay is human just like the rest of us.  Yes, he is even capable of treating his fans with "disdain "at times.  Call it abruptness, call it slightly rude, but IMHO he has not always treated his fans with the utmost of respect.  What some have labeled "snarkiness" has been interpreted by others as "rudeness".   He has demonstrated all of that on occasion.  He is not perfect and I among others don't expect him to be.

  On the other side of the coin Clay is capable of treating us with an enormous outpouring of love, respect and gratitude. He has demonstrated this over and over again in the instances cited by MARILYN.   Again, he is human,, and his behavior and emotions run the gamut.  I, for one ,am not expecting him to behave perfectly all of the time.  He is just a man, not  God.  And I reserve the right to  love and appreciate him with all of his imperfections!  :wink

THEA, I AGREE WITH MOST OF WHAT YOU SAID. PERHAPS IT WAS THE WORD "DISDAIN"  THAT WAS USED WHICH IN THE THESAURUS  LIST THE WORD AS MEANING : SCORN,  CONTEMPT,  DERISION,  DISREGARD  OR DISPARAGEMENT WHICH I DO NOT AGREE WITH.
HOWEVER, I AGREE THAT HIS SNARKINESS CAN BE SLIGHTLY RUDE, HE CAN CERTAINLY BE ABRUPT- AND AGAIN, I AGREE THAT HE IS NOT PERFECT. NO ONE IS. HE MAKES MISTAKES, AND HE REACTS TOO QUICKLY SOMETIMES, AND HIS MOUTH AND ACTIONS GET HIM IN TROUBLE.

AS TO THE RUMORS, HE NEVER ADDRESSED THEM BEFORE SO WHY SHOULD HE NOW? AND THIS TIME, IT INVOLVES PEOPLE OTHER THAN HIMSELF, SO PERHAPS HE IS BEING RETICENT TO PROTECT THEM.

THINGS MAY BE CHANGING- IF ITS TRUE, AND HE IS GOING TO BE A FAMILY MAN-THAT IS EXTREMELY LIFE CHANGING FOR EVEN A NON CELEBRITY, SO YES, THAT WOULD MAKE THINGS DIFFERENT. I JUST DONT SEE THAT CLAY WILL BE GOING AWAY FROM HIS CAREER AT ALL. IT JUST DOES NOT ADD UP.
