BRENDA, oh my!!!!!  What beautiful children!  Cristien has the most fabulous eyes, such beautiful pictures of all the children.  What would our lives be without these special children in them!!    The poem you posted was just so beautiful!  As I was reading it I actually got chills.  My son, DIL and Preston just left a little while ago and called to tell me they got home safely.  They said the car said it was 4 degrees out there.  Hopefully we will get in the high 40's this weekend.  No matter how old our kids get us mothers still can't sleep until we know they are safe especially in snowstorms.  Hope you can get to bed earlier tonight.   :hugg

KAREN, okay your turn!!!  Geez I  missed you so much and so glad you are back with us.  Wonderful you got to see your family.  Was your sister anxious to get back to NM?  Is there anyone that has a good air flight anymore?  Nothing but horror stories.   Hey I can see  you in those boots, you will look fantastic!!!!!!!!  Do you put sauerkraut in your stuffed cabbage rolls?  I always had the cabbage rolls for Christmas eve and prime rib for New Years eve, this year I didn't get to do anything I am afraid.  I am always amazed at how much food plays a part in our lives!!!

I am sorry I have been missing from here lately.  I have had my sister (Laura) staying with us for a few days and I have really enjoyed it.  I think that I posted before that her husband had filed for divorce.  She didn't want to stay there for Christmas and New Years so she planned on spending the holidays with her kids in NY, but things didn't work out as planned.  She was there for Christmas, but came here shortly afterwards.  To make a long story short, she needed to come here and 'heal'.  It has been a rough holiday for her, but I think that she is going to be OK.  She could use a few prayers though.


I spent the last hour on the phone with one of my other sisters (Mary, she lives in Oregon).  She had surgery (for carpole tunnel) on her right hand today and is doing good.  I will be seeing her the end of this month when we travel to Virgina for another sisters wedding (Beth).


I hope that everyone is recovering from a great holiday.  I haven't been able to read any pages for over a week.
I have been thinking of everyone, and saying prayers for those who need them.

Go to www.jibjab.com and upload pics.  You have to play with it a little; size them, etc, but it's pretty easy.

Then you just choose which faces for which character, and start it up!  It's meant to send to friends but they charge money for that.  But, just to watch is SO MUCH FUN!  My mom said she hadn't laughed so hard in years!  We had her and Dad doing the Charleston.  Then several of us starred in a version of Jimmy Stewart's "It's a Wonderful Life." (They call it "It's a JibJab Life").  That was our favorite!  A snowball fight is also fun!

Thea, David was getting so emotional tonight over this game!  Blatant fouls that weren't being called; holding, right in front of a referee!  He was having a fit (and these aren't even our teams; I can imagine the OSU game next Monday!(http://bestsmileys.com/angry2/1.gif))

Shirley, you are so right about the flights!  Even in our little group, we've heard some baaad flying experiences....Cindy's come's immediately to mind!  The bad part is, my parents had to drive at night to pick  my sis Cynthia up at the airport, and they aren't really comfortable with night driving anymore.  It's quite a drive, too, probably 40 minutes.  Then her flight had been delayed indefinitely, and we couldn't reach them to tell them to go back home.  They are 78 years old, and Dad is really hard of hearing.  I guess Cynthia had them paged, and they did go on home.  Here she was, in Cincinnati, only about 80 minutes from Dayton, but stuck there. 

She was anxious yesterday to get home and see her "boys."  Since she isn't married and no kids, her "boys" are two large dogs.  People mostly have big dogs in New Mexico, or else the coyotes kill them!  And you sure can't have kitties that you let outside, either.  There are owls, too, who prey on small animals, so sometimes a fence doesn't even keep them safe.

Anyway, I missed you too, Shirley!  You sound pretty upbeat today; I hope that means you are feeling and doing better! :hugg
So we make the same holiday dinners, only in reverse! :lol  I do use saurkraut in my cabbage rolls, along with chopped cabbage that is left over after wrapping the meat mixture in the cabbage leaves.  I also pour some tomato sauce or puree in the pot before they cook.  This year I used ground turkey instead of beef; my family seems to like it better!

My sis has me almost talked into darkening my hair.  My highlights have basically taken over and made me look  blonde, which we both think turns my complexion sallow.  I may be brunette again soon.  Gee, when I finally get to meet you, you may not recognize me!  I'll have  to be sure to have those boots on; I KNOW you'll recognize those! :lmao

Our schools are on a 2-hour delay in the morning, which is why I'm still here so late!  I don't have to get up at 6:30am for a change!  :bouncy  Goodnight, all!

Thea - I decided against getting the DVDs tonight. I have a few left so I'll grab some tomorrow on my way home. Hopefully our ice will be melted soon. It is actually supposed to be 63 here Sunday. I'll believe it when I feel it. It's been so cold and snowy here for awhile that I'm sick of it already. This weather always makes me nervous because Dad's friend died in an accident early last year during a snow storm. A van crossed the center line, hit him going really fast and his car caught on fire. His co-workers were following him as they lived out the same way and tried to save him but couldn't.

Well, I'm going to head off for the night. I watched the Fiesta Bowl and consoled Grandma as her beloved Sooners lost. Hopefully my team will do better tomorrow in the Orange Bowl.

Hey all.  I just wanted to say that I am okay and thanks for the concern.  I have been veeeerryyy stressed from both work and home and don't know how to put it on paper.  When I see people dealing with cancer and illness, it kind of makes my issues look silly.

 Bill has been in a lot of pain and, to me, has really deteriorated physically.  The doctor who performed the back surgery agrees that his bad knee is related to the back surgery (from walking funny) and said another disk in Bill's back is going. Bill has already said that he refuses to have more surgery.  He sleeps a lot and watches TV, something he has never done a lot of.

His Workman's Comp check has not arrived and now we have the worry of them cutting us off and giving us a hard time. 

I have been working extra hours and Saturdays to make up for the time off for the holidays.  While I feel blessed that I am able to make up the hours and have a full paycheck, it kind of defeats the purpose of a holiday when I have to work harder every other day!  I just never thought I would be dealing with this at this point in my career.

My kids are healthy and I am very happy about that. I feel horrible, though, that I can't spend a lot of time with them.

My twin sister has been in town and I can barely see her since I have been working 11 hour days. 

See?  I am a big whiner.

Sorry I am late fixing breakfast but am moving slow.  Had to do my lung treatments first thing as I am not breathing to welll.  Having the kids over yesterday really exhausted me.  It was early when they came and late when they left and it wiped me out so have those plastic oxygen tubes in my nose right now!!!!!  But I have enough energy to fix your breakfast. 

 :coffeepot :coffeepot coffee is all ready!!!!!!!  Irish Creme, Hazelnut (where are you CHRISIE?), and French Vanilla and of course I drink freshly ground Columbian.  I have pots of hot tea for BETH and EVELYN, a nice cup of herbal tea for THEA and hot chocolate for JEANNE and DEBI!!!  Maybe Nathan would like some too.

We are eating healthy this morning.  Nicely cooked poached eggs (although I cheat I put a dab of butter on mine after they are cooked), wheat or sour dough toast, freshly sliced peaches with a few blueberries sprinkled on them and of course our freshly squeezed orange juice, tomato juice or grapefruit juice. 

Good morning. I am here bright and early this morning so I will make breakfast. Belgian waffles with strawberry, blueberry and apple compote. A little powdered sugar on the side for those who want to sprinkle some on top. Nice thick slices of ham, crispy bacon and sausage patties, I couldn't decide what I wanted so I made them all. I have coffee going, tea steeping and I have am assortment of flavored creamers. I also have have chocolate and whipped cream for those that want it. Pineapple juice and grape juice, sorry no orange juice.  :naughty I do not DO orange.
Enjoy, there is plenty for your hubbies and children and Sharon please make up a plate for Woody too.
I am working today so I won't be back on until late if at all. My son, Pug and I are going to finally get the supplird to do my bathroom. I have only waited 3 years, I got the Jacuzzi tub three or Four Christmas'es ago :lmao

Sorry Shirley, I made breakfast while you were making yours. No problem. The waffles freeze well. We can just heat them up in the oven some other day.

Well now I just crack myself up! I had to go in early to work today...and it was reeeealy COLD,
So I put on my sweaters (all of them- I have 4!) and sweatpants and jeans and 2 pairs of socks and a hat and my warm boot shoes.
Forgot I had to go get my Depo shot right after work. Since they like to monitor your weight with the shots...they weigh ya every time ya go.
Well...instead of my normal 1-3 pound per shot weight gain...I weighed in at 10 POUNDS more!
The nurses all started freaking out and wanted to stop the shot...yada yada.
So I says...hang on a sec here...
I stripped .....................off with the sweaters and hats and shoes and jeans, etc.


I lost 7 pounds right before their eyes! :lmao   :lmao

I knew that I couldn't keep up with that Energizer Bunny  :bang.  This cold has really beat me down.  I slept until 10 a.m..  The kids came in the room and were like, "Mom, Are you ever going to get out of bed today?" I have laundry to fold and put away and I'm still trying to find the energy to pick up the house.  I have dishes to do also, and well, let's just say that they are just not getting done  :bang.

I may just be lurking today.  I don't even have enough energy to take any cold medicine  :bang.  Oh, and the hot steamy shower didn't help either  :bang.

There are still presents at my studio that I did not have time or energy to wrap. So I guess they are going to be birthday presents???????

Oh what a day, started out fine, but man I have so much to think about, Al really is not doing well on this new chemo pill, so I am going to his appt with the oncologist tomorrow without him.  I have documented everything since he started, and we need to make some changes somehow to give him some quality time here even if it means we stop the pill.  I know he is getting weaker, I have to be strong and face the fact that he won't be here a long time, I just want his time to be as good as it can be poor fella :hugg sleeping 23 hours a day is not quality :cry
I must have sounded frustrated talking to the supportive care nurse, as they called me right back on all my questions, I need my poor honey to feel better :hugg
I'm glad today was one of my strong days, many aren't.

A prayer request from a church friend:

Dear Church:
I would like to ask for your prayers for the family of Danny Griffin.  His
wife and 4 daughters were killed over the weekend by a drunk driver.  The
last update I received, two of his daughters were still in critical
condition in Toledo hospitals.  One of his sons has been released and is
home with his biological father.  This family has been devastated by this
loss, which included their 8-week old daughter, Vadie.  I know many of their
friends and they, too, are at a loss to understand why something like this
has happened.  It has galvanized their home town and their home church and
dozens of their friends around the country into helping them in any way
possible with this huge loss and equally huge financial burden on Danny.
His step daughters lived in Livonia with their mother, who also can use our
prayers as she has lost two of her daughters and her other daughter is in
critical condition.  Thank you for your earnest prayers!

We went to breakfast at a restaurant in Florida
where the "seniors' special" was
 two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $1.99.

"Sounds good," my wife said.
"But I don't want the eggs."

"Then I'll have to charge you two dollars and forty-nine cents

I have ham/cheese/green peppers in our omelet this morning.  Some nice thin potato pancakes with a little home made applesauce.  English muffins or nice hot fluffy biscuits with some cream gravy.  Nice pink grapefruit coming out of the broiler with the brown sugar still sizzling on it and I am putting a red cherry on all of them.  Freshly squeezed orange juice and Crangrape juice is in the pitchers on the table.

Just to let you all know, I have just come home from an hour with Al's oncologist.  I go prepared with everything on paper so there's no time loss, and everything is concise, I know that's appreciated in their busy schedules :wink She feels that the new anti seizure meds are the culprit for this awful fatigue Al has, so she is over riding the neurologist and we will change him to new meds ASAP.  I will need a degree in pharmacology again to decrease one and increase another all without second guessing myself :para and I'm still not blind to realize it may still be the progression of the disease, and told her that, but I hope against hope this will give the poor fella some quality of life for his time left :hugg
I can't think anymore today, so I won't :bigsmile it's too early for wine, so I will just go start cleaning again :lol

SHARON, a tough day for you lady!  When my mom had cancer my sister and I did not agree with the onocologist.  They see the cancer and forget the person!!!   They would have put my mom thru he*l just so they could say she was barely alive and we said no to the treatment.  She would never get better only get worse and suffer.  Sometimes it is hard to make those tough choices.  :hugg

THEA, I would just explain to your mother about Phil's health and you won't be able to make those long trips if she has those surgeries.  At her age  I am surprised she would even heal after those type of surgeries.

My top Sergeant had to go to the store, SOOO, the mailman came and I HAD to go get the mail. I WAS dressed in my jammies and robe and slippers!!!! Weather 37, we have had a freeze.

I really got the riot act when he came home. Supposed to stay, at least in bed or on sofa and keep warm and try to get rid of this cough and congestion. Well, it came back double!!!!!

I am fixing pancakes this morning!!!  We have regular pancakes, blueberry pancakes or banana walnut pancakes.  (have to use those bananas up that was in my get well basket), warm maple syrup, whipped butter to dress them up.  We have tiny link sausage also.  Freshly squeezed orange juice is on the table and there is also crangrape juice in case the little ones are eating this morning.

Good Saturday evening my friends. My daughter and I have been busy, busy, busy, shopping for all my new bathroom fix'ins. One of the things I am most excited about is being able to lay in the tub and read again. When we lived in the apartment I used to lay and read for an hour, sometimes longer. I have no light above my tub now and the tub is really small, not at all comfortable to lay in. I told Paul that our water bill is going to double.
I have to tell ya all, it sure is nice not having all the stress around here. Paul is like a new man. I even kissed him good bye yesterday when I went to work. :bigsmile :yum :wink

We are having an old fashioned breakfast with scrambled eggs with a little swiss cheese melted in them, nice crisp bacon, home fries and hot fluffy biscuits with home made apple butter, strawberrie preserves or seedless raseberry jam.  Pitchers of freshly squeezed orange juice is waiting on the table along with pomegrante juice or grape juice.  Enjoy your breakfast ladies and hurry to the table before it gets cold.

NOTE:  I have not been posting hardly at all lately because I just haven't had any computer time.  My younger brother, who is widowed, got quite ill and was hospitalized.  Lots of medical problems - which hopefully can be treated - all of which are complicated by diabetes that is very difficult to control.  He has been so active and loves to travel, golf, etc.  It's hard to see him so weak.  He lives in Green Bay, so I've been spending some time with him.  He was discharged from the hospital and so I've tried to get some groceries and a couple of simple meals ready for him at his home.  With work and other family stuff, I have not been home long enough to do much posting, but I'm all caught up on what's happining here at the RTM.  Whew!

Tonight I am going to Green Bay again . . . but I have tickets to see/hear the Trans-Syberian Orchestra at the Resch Center!  :bouncy :bouncy  Nancy and my sister have gone to their concerts before, but this time I will be going, too!  I'm looking so forward to it!  They are so energetic and the show is filled with lots of special effects with lighting, etc.  I have one of their Christmas CD's and I also watched them in concert on a PBS special.

I truly hope everyone is having a good weekend.  I sometimes feel "disconnected", but I know I can always come here to the RTM, read all of your posts and add my own 2 cents worth. :blush

I haven't had any computer time, but it wasn't for any serious reasons such as most of you have when you are not posting. For the past four days, the girls were here, in my tiny house, with wind chills too cold to take them outside for very long at a time.  :bang  We had fun, but 3- and 5-year-olds need to do some running, too, and there is no room here for them to do it. We did lots of projects. We chose photos to print and put in small photo albums for them. We decorated t-shirts with glitter, glow-in-the-dark, and sequin paint. We went sledding. We had company who took videos of them. We worked on Madisen's reading. We had time-outs. And we played where will we sleep now about three times a night. We had bought them keyboards with microphones to play with here. OMG!!!! Did they enjoy them!?!?!?! They love Hannah Montana and Riley has all the moves down. Fortunately, Madisen learned quickly that playing one note at a time with the different beats/instrument settings was much prettier than banging on the keys. "Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer" was played and sung to all the white keys slowly played up and down the keyboard. EEK!!!

I stayed in bed until noon today.  :bigsmile  Just took a break to say "hi" and see what you all are up to. Now it's back to putting things where they belong. The kids picked up all their toys, but now they need to be "packed".  :wink

I'm going with Diane who I met in Claymaniacs, but who no longer posts here very often.  Most of the RTMer's have met her; she's a lot of fun!  Also going is Debbie (nurse Debbie), who went to the Christmas in Detroit concert in 2006 and met the RTMers who were there that year.  Also a lot of fun!  Both girls are 5'10" tall so I feel like a shrimp when I travel with them!  :lol

PRAYER REQUEST

I know we have so many things going on in the RTM that need our prayers but I ask that you give prayers to another tragic situation.

My dear friend Sandy, who I have been friends with for years through church and socially and who cuts my hair, has asked for prayers for her sister-in-law, Kristina.  Her S-I-L was having a normal day, shopping, raking leaves, etc., when she was taken ill with what ultimately became a staph infection.

PLEASE DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU ARE EASILY FREAKED OUT:

Since she entered the hospital, her SIL has had both her legs amputated below the knees, both hands amputated, a breast amputated, and all the skin on her legs and arms removed.  She is presently at a burn unit (U of M?), which is the only place that can handle that much loss of skin. She has had multiple operations but the staph has not yet been halted.  She is married and the mother of two young children, 2 1/2 and 7, who, for obvious reasons, cannot see their mom at all.  Only the husband is allowed to see her at all, and only under very strict conditions.  Kristina has been in a coma since this happened, but seems to be coming out of it.  This is not a good thing. 

I can't even imagine the horror and agony for everyone involved.  Please, please pray to our Lord and Savior as you see fit.

Carolyn - How very sad about your friend. O f course we will pray for her. How in the world did she get a staph infection. They are very difficult to deal with. My Aunt got a staph infection while in the hospital.  She died over a year ago, but I can still remember all she went through with that infection. No amputations, though.

GOOD MORNING GIRLS!!!  I am a bit slow this morning. 

 :coffeepot :coffeepot is ready.  I have the tea steeping EVELYN and BETH.  The herbal tea is already THEA.  Nice hot chocolate in the pretty china pot is on the table.

We are having poached eggs on a English muffin topped with a slice of cheese melted on top of the egg,  with a nice side of crispy bacon, a nice dish of sliced oranges, bananas and Kiwi.  THe pitchers of freshly squeezed orange juice is on the table along with Crangrape juice.    Hurry it is getting cold!

Good morning. I am all ready to go to work but I am waiting on a load of clothes to finish drying. I washed them yesterday but Miss Maddie into everything pants was here so I didn't get them out of the dryer because she would have been all into the stuff. She likes to help  :bang :bang
This bathroom is getting to be more than I asked for. Now we need to get a whole new circuit breaker because I have to have separate lines for the tub and the breaker I have is already loaded, they electrician will be here between 10 and 11 to let us know what this will cost. This "gift", the jacuzzi tub, is ending up costing a whole heck of a lot  :bang :bang We need the new breaker tho because the loaded one is a fire hazard. Now they tell me!!!!
Sharon, please let at least one of us know what is going on with Al. We love you, my friend and if there is anything we or I can do all you have to do is tell us. My prayers are with you.
Carolyn, prayer out to your friend and her family. I had a Strep infection in 2000 and that is why my heart is so bad. I was fortunate that I didn't lose my foot. The pain is something I will never forget. I got the infection in the hospital when I had surgery on my left foot. Then the Dr that did the surgery went in for the same surgery and got the staph infection too. He was NOT a happy camper.
Well I have to go to work and the electrician is here so I will talk to you all later.

Carolyn,  lost a sister-in-law to a staph infection a few years ago.  She was in for heart surgery, had always had a malfunction there, but everything going well until the staph set in.  That stuff is really scary.  I can't even think about what this poor woman is going to do when she comes out of her coma to find her hands and a foot gone.

Hi all, just got in.  Took Al to emerg this morning, and he has been admitted.  Very low blood pressure, confusion and dehydration, I hope most of this can he helped with med adjustments, but he is a sick boy, please keep him in your prayers.  I'll post when I can, need sleep bad, 14 hours in emerg is enough to make anyone tired.

This could happen to you.

I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying:
"Hi, how are you?"

I'm not the type to start a conversation in the restroom but I don't know what got into me, so I answered, somewhat embarrassed,
"Doin' just fine!"

And the other person says:
"So what are you up to?"

What kind of question is that? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say:
"Uhhh, I'm like you, just traveling!"

At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question.
"Can I come over?"

Ok, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell them
"No.......I'm a little busy right now!!!"

Then I hear the person say nervously...

"Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions
 

Christina is pretty much the same.  I just talked to my friend Sandy and told we were all praying for Christina.  She said there haven't been any drastic changes.

I am going to have a orange I think and get ready for bed.  I have been reading a new mystery by Julie Garwood one of my favorite authors and need to finish it.  Also I have to figure out what to do with my hair.  I dyed it Sunday a medium champagne blonde, when I rinsed it out it was not blonde but a dark hideous brown.  I have washed it three times already and hubby wants me to go and get some more hair dye but I am almost afraid to as I am afraid next it will turn green or fall out.  This has never happened to me before.  I am  wondering if they put the wrong toner in the wrong box

Hello all, I'm home :wave
I wish I had the energy to tell you all of what happened today, but it's too long and I'm pooped :tired
Al's oncologist took over the reins today, and discontinued all Al's meds~~~chemo pill, anti seizure pill, and hIs BP pills.  His BP was so low, and is still low, as his kidney's haven't been working right to rid his body of them and they built up in his system.
She ordered a blood transfusion, and I hope if we can get his body hydrated, he will feel better.  She doesn't feel he will ever be well enough to leave hospital at this point, but I will remain very hopeful of course, that's all I have right now is HOPE
I will have to put Al's name in for hospice care, as at this point we don't know even with the alloted home care time available to me, if I can handle it.  That's why my honey needs to get stronger so he can be here for awhile til we see where to go from here.

 :coffeepot :coffeepot Columbian, Irish Creme, Hazelnut, and French Vanilla.  Two pots of steaming tea for BETH and EVELYN, and one of Herbal tea for THEA.  A nice pot of hot chocolate is also on the table.

We are having a nice Western omelet, nice crispy potato pancakes, thinly sliced ham nice and warm and English muffins or wheat toast.  Nice slices of cantaloupe also is on a platter.  Freshly squeezed orange juice or Cranberry juice is frosty pitchers.  Leave your dishes on the table the CLAYMAID will clean up.  :wheee

SHARON, please take time this morning to sit down and have your breakfast.  So many hard decisions for you to make.  I know you are worried about having time for Woody,.  You are stretched so thin and I truly feel so bad for you.  You just have to much to deal with.  Hopefully coming here and writing your true thoughts down will help you.  We never judge anyone we just give you lots of love and understanding.  :hugg

EVELYN, hope you are sitting back relaxing and just reading your books.  I just finished a Julie Garwood mystery.  I have a nice rump roast to cook today.  My favorit roast to fix.  I just roll it in flour, brown it and simmer it in beef broth for about 3 1/2 hours and slice it against the grain.  It is so tender.  I will fix it will carrots and potatoes, than have some left over for hot beef sandwiches with beef gravy and mashed potatoes and than one day use some of the roast for French dip sandwiches and still have pieces for Vegetable beef soup.  More than you wanted to know I am sure.  :lol

I have conditioner on my hair and I am off to wash my head with some shampoo right now.  I have been washing and conditioning it twice a day.  It is getting slightly lighter but still dark brown.  My husband agreed that it could be all the medicine I have been on for so long.  I go to the doctors on Friday and will shock my doctor when he sees me.  Maybe I will wear a baseball cap to cover it.  How embarrassing!!

Hi RTM Gang!

Taking a quick break from work.  I'm working more hours this week.  We have had so much rain here in N.E. Wisconsin AND also warmer temps so lots of snow banks thawed . . . so my yard looks like a pond and I have some standing water on the floor of my garage!  :bang  This has been a strange winter! 

My younger brother is back in the hospital.  He has some serious health problems, but we are hopeful that all of the scans and tests will give the doctors a diagnosis and a course of treatment.  As all of you know, when someone in the family is sick, it leads to lots of worrying.  We are keeping a positive attitude (which is sometimes almost impossible).

We DO have to take a roll call here at the RTM.  Where's SPIKEE??  CINDY??  ANITA??  ANN??  KAREN??  OK, now I've run out of memory names!

Also, Bozena's report on her WW reminds me that I didn't let you know the results of my blood work taken last week at the oncologist's office.  All of my results for "tumor markers" were within normal range.  :clap  According to my Dr., the results are around 80% accurate.  I will be getting another mammogram in mid-February as a follow-up, but no more MRI's for a while.   :clap   So I guess this means I am an official 1-year breast cancer survivor!   :confetti2

Just came in, to a nice dinner that my next door neighbour left me in the fridge, they are taking care of my cats, thanks Chrisie, I know you would :hugg
Al was slightly improved today, BP still low, thay are still hydrating him constantly, and his kidney function is some better which is great news :clap
He was still a bit confused today, but they feel that will get better when his levels are all closer to normal.
We have been checking into coverage for homecare, if Al is able to leave the hospital through his benefits, and so many people have offered to help me out here to bring him home if he's strong enough.  He told me today he wants so much to come home, see the cats (he loves his boys :wink) I think I may sneak Simon into his room one of these days :bigsmile :lol
My sis stayed with Al tonight so I could see Woody, haven't seen my little duck for a week, and he missed me as much as I missed him, that man is such a joy in my life :hugg we laughed hard a few times, and he tells me he misses the "tom foolery" when I'm not there :lol
Enough about me, glad to see you are all taking care of one another, the love in the house is beautiful, no one ever take it for granted.  We all found eachother for a reason, cherish it, celebrate it, and breathe it in~~~it's special, I sure feel it :wink

OJ (not for Mary, of course) & piping hot coffees and teas & a hot chocolate w/ whipped cream or marshmallows).
I also made some cinnamon rolls. Just frosted 'em.

Evelyn - We didn't get hit by the tornados here, thank goodness! Everyone is still pretty freaked out from the ice storm that it would be too much for us to handle. Out yards still look like a tornado hit them though. Too many limbs and branches to clear in a short amount of time.

We are starting the demo of the bathroom tomorrow. It is not going to be fun not having a shower. We have a bathroom on the basement but no shower. Karen, good luck on finding just the right outfit to go with the boots. I have been racking my brain to decide what do I wear to a Broadway show? Are we supposed to dress up fancy??? I haven"t a clue.  I bought a new outfit that is both very comfortable but dressy at the same time. It is Velour with gold stitching, pants and jacket and I got a shimmery shirt to go with it. I love it and I think it will go either Without You, could look fancy, could look simple. Now all I have to do is find some shoes that I can wear. I have such a hard time because of all the surgeries I have had on my feet usually I only wear one certain style of tennis shoes. :bang :bang :bang :bang Maybe I will look for some soft loafers, I can not wear anything with a heel or stitching at the toes.

Shiriley - I meant to ask you about your hair. Did you use the same color you always do. I can't imagine that it would change colors on you. Don't be afraid to dye your hair again. Maybe use a shade lighter to take some of the brown out, but it should work. I know that sometimes medications can alter your hair but usually meds alter the way our hair reacts to a perm more than color. Are you sure you didn't pick up the wrong color ? Anyway, let me know how it is now.

Can you believe it? My surgeon is now in the hospital.....as a patient. (I wanted to ask what was wrong with him, but decided it was none of my business.) I would love to see him as a patient. He is quite the character when he is the doctor and telling us how easy it will be to get around on three newly repaired bones. We are now scheduled for 1/29.

Al was a bit better today, ate some jello and asked for liquid for the first time orally since Monday :clap :clap still has low blood pressure, they can't figure out yet, and his kidneys are functioning  better, so that's all positive.  He so wants to come home, poor fella, and I hope it can happen.  He was on his feet today to get to the commode, had enough strength in his legs to hold himself up, he's so determined.  If you could have seen him Monday and Tuesday you'd not believe he'd ever be on his feet again, this is such a rollercoaster.

Fortunately I'm the only one that is sick.  I've been back from vacation for awhile, but I still feel so run down.  In the morning I don't want to get out of bed and just feel like sleeping all day.  I hope this feeling passes soon.  My poor house has been neglected  :bang.

From a personal perspective, I appreciate all of the well wishes and concern for my brother. He is so active, an avid Packer fan, and so  much fun to be with.  He likes to hunt, golf and spend time with his two adorable young grand-daughters.  I think he is going to get his diabetes under control and his other health issues.  We are most worried about a change in his mental status.  He sometimes seems confused and that has to be checked out.  Hopefully it is a reaction to some changes in his medication but they have to rule out a slight stroke.  Thank you so much for caring! :hugg

 :coffeepot :coffeepot is ready!!!  Irish Creme, Hazelnut, French Vanilla and Columbian.  Nice hot tea is steeping in the pot and a pot of herbal tea.  Just pouring the hot chocolate for those that want it. 

I am in a hurry this morning as I have a doctors appointment so it will be hot oatmeal with nice brown sugar, butter, raisins to put in it.  Also some cold cereal with bananas or blueberries to put on that cereal.  Hot bagels with cream cheese or English muffins with jams and jellies.  Freshly squeezed orange juice or cranapple juice.

Breakfast was perfect; just got back from grocery shopping, picking up branches from the yard, bringing in trashcans, so have been out in the cold wind a lot this morning.  HOT OATMEAL was perfect for warming back up!  The Colombian coffee helped, too!

Thanks for the link to QVC for the gaucho pants!  I'm now thinking either gauchos or a mid-calf length "trumpet" skirt.

I worked on making a new avie from the gorgeous closeup of Clay we've been drooling over the last couple of days, but when I uploaded it, I wasn't happy with how it looked.  It lost something in the 'miniaturization!"   :lol  Anyway, I LOVE the one I have now, so it will take a lot to get me to change!

WEll Hello everyone!!

Seems I only manage to write a post once a week lately!!!! :bang so Instead of being Clay's lurker  I think my name should change to  Clay's once a weeker!!!!! what do you think??????

Anyways I do come and read what is up here but as I am convinced that the chemo does something to the brain that prevents you remembering things I can not recall what everyone is up to but wanted you all to know that I am still around!!!

My treatment is getting tough on me..some days I have no energy left by the time I get home.  I am not to sure how much longer until I will have to take a break from work!! I don't even take aisalynn over night on thursdays...sometimes I'm up to having her on saturday night though...and truely I do look forward to her visits...brings another person in the house to concetrate on!!!!

I'm sure some of you are trying to make your plans to go to new york to see spamalot!!!! Lucky ladies!!!! I'm sure you will all have a wonderful time...I know the 4 musketeers are going ....who else?????

My sister took my dad to the hospital today.  My dad has been getting worse and worse with his feet but has refused to go to the hospital.  Well, she finally got him to go today and they are cutting off his toes.  I think on just one foot.  He is, obviously, very upset. 

I am feeling kind of angry because he takes such poor care of himself and everyone else has to deal with it.  I am also sad for him.

Please keep him in your prayers.

Well, finally in my studio again after what seems like a lifetime.
Saw the Dr. on Monday. Disappointed, had to go home , take medicine and go to bed AGAIN!!!! :bang :bang
Promised I would be good and do nothing today. Just read and sit at the computer and only stay for a couple of hours, Sitting still is not a priority.

As my son drove me up to the driveway, what do my eyes behold , the mailbox baseball bandits were at it again. :bang
 I had a lovely mailbox in aqua with a dragon fly on both sides. WELL, that is all bashed in .
 Son is buying a new one and I will put something else on it. Maybe barbed wire.  :bigsmile

Please do not think me corney , but when I stepped inside my studio for the first time in ages , I started blubbering. Could not help myself, I missed it sooooo much.
 Wish I could do some work but better not or else.

This flu I had really layed me low. I am still coughing and tired and sleepy and it is still one foot in front of the other.
I asked my Dr. why this flue is going around so much, the DRS. offices are sooo busy now. He said that every time the "SNOWBIRDS" come to Florida they bring some kind of flu. Hard to believe. This one was particulary bad.
Mine turned into pneumonia. I feel pretty good now with above exceptions.

 So BETH, maybe what you caught was our perinnial flu bug.

This will be a long one, sorry, but I have not been here for so long and just went back 4 pages.

I know what you are talking about when you mention shoes. Once upon a time I was a shoe whore. THEN the bad thing happened, my feet went South and now all I can wear are tennies. When I dress up I have to wear black tennies with black slacks so you cannot see my shoes. I just drool now when I see all the fantastic shoes in the stores :para :para
I think I read that you are getting a hot tub. If it is for a physical problem , then you can get a hot tub and they will not charge you the tax. It comes with a DR. perscription. Mine is for my spinal stenosis. It is wonderful!!!!

Hi DEBI!  :hugg  Don't worry about the short-term memory loss...it's actually a known side effect of chemo aptly labeled "Chemo Brain"!  :bduh  Believe it or not, I am still dealing with it a year after my last treatment!

CAROLYN, prayers for your dad.  It's so difficult to watch our parents fail in health.  My mother is now planning to have yet another joint replacement--She has had 2 knee replacements and 1 hip replacements over the past 10 years or so (plus a full hysterectomy and cataract surgery).  Now the Dr. is talking about her needing another hip replacement.  Life can be tough as we get on in years.


KAREN  :hugg, I've been doing the same thing this past week or so.  Although I don't manage a business acount like you do, I have so many loose ends to catch up on.  My desk runneth over with clutter!!!

BETH, sounds like part of your fatigue problem these past couple of weeks is partially related to lack of sunshine.  (Seasonal Affective Disorder).  Believe me, there are days when I feel I could stay under the covers all day long and just sleep my life away.  My light box helps me immensely.  PM me if you would like any information.

JEANNE, so glad you are finally feeling better.  When I had pnuemonia a year and a half ago they told me it would take three months to get over it and they were right.  Now they are not saying I will get over this latest bout.  I was a little down when I came home from the doctors today.  THey just told me to stay away from people right now as I will catch anything plus they gave me perscriptions for steriods and antibiotics to have filled so I have them on hand in case I should start coming down with this lung infection on a Friday when I couldn't get hold of anyone,  I walk around like I have been tranquilized must mean lack of oxygen.  Have to start using the oxygen more I was told.  Hope all the kitties aren't mad since you haven't been at the studio.

My dad doesn't live along.  He lives with my sister but he is stubborn and refused to go to the hospital for days.  He is in la la land.  He is also a drinker and he lies to the doctors about what he does.

Well, I just got back from the hospital and they only took his big toe and part of his foot right now.  They are waiting to see if they have to take more.  His blood sugar was so high that they have to bring it down before they can make any further decisions.

We will see what happens.

I'm off to my first Weight Watchers meeting.  I really lost my focus on Jenny Craig.  I stopped eatting their food even though I was paying for it.  I regained 10 lbs.  I was getting so tired of not learning to eat food that I wanted.  I have to learn portion sizes and count points now.  I was on Weight Watchers before and had done really well.  Wish me luck.

I got a call from Sharon this morning.... ^{( she woke me up at 8  :spank2 )} but that is OK b/c she was calling to tell me that AL is doing better and will probably come home during the week  :yahoo He is eating and drinking better but his blood pressure is still a little low and they want to get that straightened out.
Sharon sounded good and more up beat than the last time we spoke ... that is for sure. But her internet is out again and she wanted me to let you all the good news and didn't want you all to worry when she doesn't post. She will also be getting home care for him everyday to check his blood pressure and make sure things are right and it will also enable her to go to work and see Woody when needed. Karen, I got a job at what is called " Welcome Wagon " if I want it. I set my own hours which I really like. The less I have to pay for daycare the better. It is when a new family, company etc... moves into the neighborhood, you go and " welcome " them with info on the city and they other businesses that they may need . These businesses in turn give them coupons, discounts coupons etc... to get them to come to them. Make sense ??? So I have till Tues to decide on this. It is easy money, just not a whole heck of alot of money. I am still holding out on my gym for an interview. Curves wants me to start ASAP but I told them I have 2 other interviews yet. I'm just not sure that Curves is for me and I know I can't get friends etc... to come to Curves and they want you to bring in people and do ALOT of sales.. It is just a totally different demographic than my gym. But it is a job and the hours aren't bad and Tori would only have to go to daycare 3 days a week for only 3 1/2 hours a day.... that is if I can find one  :hypno

(Have I fed kids for too long or what :para)
I'll be trying to make my first crown pork roast tomorrow after church. It even had the little shiny things to put on the ribs, but I think hubby threw them away to make room in the freezer. (What were we saying about men? :bang)
I'm worried that my brother spoiled my class last week as he said they played games and he gave out prizes  :no- last year, the kids thought he was mean 'cuz he made them work :lmao It should be interesting. I better bring some cookies.  :bigsmile

With Welcome Wagon, you would be driving around a lot.  Would they set a district for you so you wouldn't have to drive too far?  Lots of mileage on the car, do they reimburse mileage?

You are holding out on your own gym...because the hours were crappy, right?  That's the second-shift job, if I remember right?

Hi ladies!

I just wanted to check in.  I've been feeling exhausted, chilled and just "a mess" all day today.  After doing a few household chores, I spent most of my day under the covers sleeping. And finally I'm feeling a little stronger.

 SHIRLEY, if I can just back down and do nothing, well so can you!  :hugg :hugg  Please follow EVELYN'S advice to get more rest and prepare only simple meals.  I wish we all lived closer together so we could bring over meals and help one another when we're not feeling well.

Just wanted to drop off some hugs and positive thoughts for all of those going through rough times here on the RTM.  And of course there are plenty of plain old hugs to go around!

Just got back from seeing my dad again.  I am glad I could be there for him.  He had a wicked nurse but I prayed about it (to myself) and a great nurse came on duty.  They were making stupid mistakes with his IV.  The new nurse fixed everything and was lovely.

I prayed over my dad (he says he didn't care if I did or not, but I think he is glad I did).  In case any of you didn't know, I became a Christian at 19.  My dad and mom are both Jewish.  He is always irritated when I bring up my faith.

ANN, thanks so much for the wonderful breakfast.  Always a treat to come here and see breakfast is already ready!!!!!!!!  Hey I think Jeanne would like that hot chocolate and chocolate donut!!!   :lol  Be careful going to church, the roads here this morning are snow covered and slick and more snow to come.

 :confetti2 :confetti2 :congrats2 to the Green Bay Packers and the Patriots for winning the games yesterday.  Yep Brett and Big Tom pulled it off.  That is about all I did yesterday is lay on the couch and watch football and eat vegetable soup.  Not a bad way to spend a Saturday.  Today it is the Colts at 1:00 and than the Giants vs. Cowboys.  I will be on the couch for both of those games also.  Think the playoffs are the most exciting games of the football season.   It is snowing here and supposed to snow all the way till Thursday. 

I took Pepe out today and fed the outside babies.  I talk to the squirrels and the birds telling them "good morning" as I feed them hubby doesn't do that.  I know they miss me.  No I am not crazy!!! Very calm out no wind just snowing.

EVELYN, like I mentioned before, now is a good time to try some new cookie recipes from your new cookbooks.  You can see what new ones you like and don't have to use the ones you don't like.

KAREN, yep hubby has been taking care of the little animals.  We had two large does with their baby fawns here last night and this morning, I think they knew the snow was coming. 

THEA, believe me I am not doing much of anything.  Hubby washed the kitchen floor and cleaned the carpets.  I think this is the third time in his life he has ever done that.  :lol  I think how lucky my mom was to have me and my sister take care of her and help her when she needed it.  She was a very fortunate woman.  Hope you feel better today.

Shirley, animals seem to have a "sixth sense," don't they?  I loved it when a mama doe and her baby took up residence in a little thicket catty-cornered to the back of our house.  I could see them laying down from my window.  About the macho thing; I've raised 3 boys, and they start acting "tough" around jr. high.  Don't want to wear jackets, etc, when they really need to!  Justin will wear a sweatshirt hoodie and that's about it. :bang 

Shirley and Kim, glad your teams won yesterday!  I've been bummed since OSU lost their playoff game.  They only lost by 14 points, but to read the newspaper, you'd think it was 70-0.  Writers have to sensationalize everything, I guess.

BECKY, it snowed and snowed all day here but it was melting as fast as it was snowing, thank goodness.  We would have had at least 6 inches on the ground if it wouldn't have melted.  When we lived in Hale on the 20 acres we had to take our trash for pickup also.  When we moved back to Michigan I said no more of that if I come back I am living in East Tawas with city sewer, city water and trash pickup.  This time I was smart enough to think of me!!!!!   :lol

I'm home, and what else tired :tired Al is doing much better today, the first food he's eaten in a week, so I hope he'll continue to improve, and be coming home on Tuesday late afternoon :clap There will be a nurse here each day to monitor his vitals for a week, and I am taking 10 hours of nursing care a week to start, and a half day from a hospice volunteer.  I am working Thursday and Friday this week, and want to very much, my sister and SIL will each come a day to be with Al, and help him with what he needs.  I'm not out again til the first week of February, so we'll see how Al is then and arrange care from there.
I think the weeks I don't work, I'll take the nursing time over the lunch hour 3 days a week to be able to see Woody, and use the other half day for me, to shop, or go out to lunch or maybe even treat myself to a half day spa :wink

Karen, I had an interview yesterday at my gym and  think it went really well.  :cross :cross :cross It was for fitness staff and for reception but when they knew I also did daycare and sales at a gym before, they were even more happy b/c I could do just about everything at the gym. I was really pushing the 6-2 shift so that I can still pick up my kids and the rest for extra money. I really want this job so my fingers are crossed and if necessary, Tori can come into the daycare there with me. So it sounds good.

Hey Karen, and yes, Fabe can get the kids off to school. I just have to prepare bags and lunches and put there cloths out the night before.  The pay is the same no matter the hours you work. But they say they take into account your experience and family life etc.... so we'll see what they think. They know I used to manage a health club back home so that will help alot and if needed I can work the daycare there too if they are ever stuck for someone.
I just picked up another kid for afterschool care today which is great. So I just want to work the 6-2 shift and then I can still pick up all the kids after school for the extra money is what I meant. That would about $200 extra a week, sometimes more that I don'treally want to give up.

Hi, everyone...

Decided I'd better check in before Shirley sends out the troops!  Now all she has to worry about are the other ones who haven't checked in for a while! 

I don't post every day anymore, but I do read the board and know that I'm VERY blessed in my life.  So many of you are having difficulties, and I'm fortunate that I have a completely wonderful family and the best grandson anyone could hope for!  Any health issues or problems I have seem minor compared to some of yours.

WAS in my studio, then had to go back home again for a few days. NOW I am here again, hoooorrrraaayy

I want to thank the gals who sent me cards.
And I want to apologize for those who did not get any from me.

When I got a fever and went home for awhile, my son took all of the cards, with stamps, without stamps, adressed, not addressed, with notes, etc, etc, and put them away for me  for when I was well again.

It looks like I could send out belated cards but the season is over. Soooooooooo, i will be ahead of the game next year.
My hubbby put all the cards up on our Christmas clothesline (my son brought them over) and last week he took the cards down and that was the first time i got to see them. It was fun.

ANN, what was for dinner???????  I did not have much,  of an appetite.  I had a nice rump roast left over so I sliced that real thin and cooked some nice sweet onions and put the sliced pieces of roast on them than when that was heated I placed some nice baby swiss cheese on top and cooked till it was melted.  I put this mixture on a bun and put two sliced tomatoes on each sandwich.  Had a nice baked potato with it. Still have more roast left now I have to figure out what to do with it.

KIM, that cacti looks like he is saying "WHO ME"!!!  Tell bad BETTY I said HELLO!!!!!!!!!

DEBI, hope you are on medical today and did not decide to go to work.  With the chemo and radiation at the same time that is an awful lot to deal with.  Wished I lived near by so I could bring you nourishing soups and drinks.

Shirley - I had leftover crown roast pork loin. I took the extras off the bone, added barbeque sauce, heated it and put it on a split sub bun. Served w/ slices of cheese  :yum :yum :yum Like you, I have leftovers for tomorrow - Time to put on the thinkin' cap.

ANN, hope your crown pork roast turned out tender.  I have only cooked one and it turned out tough.  Will never forget that as it was Christmas eve and I had the little shorts on the bones but it was bad meat.  You could use the pork for pork stir fry over rice.  Slice it into strips and fry it fast with strips of peppers and onions and thinly sliced celery.  Pour chicken broth in and cook than make a paste with cornstarch add to the broth and cook till thickened.  I love pork!!!

CINDY, you must have heard me yelling for you.  Listen honey there is life outside of Honeywell.  What nerve your boss said anything negative to you.  My gosh your whole life the past few months have been Honeywell.  I could go on and on but I will stop right now.  First I will  :bang your bosses head against the wall.  Wished you would walk out on all of them.

Hello RTM :wave yep Shirley was right, I'm pooped, but Al is coming home tomorrow, and that makes me so happy :clap :clap :bigsmile life will be different, but I will be able to make this last part of his journey comfortable and the very best I can for him.  Had home care drop off some needs today, to make things easier for him, and after tomorrow my home will have a parade of people for a time, to make sure we are doing well, and he is stable.

I'm glad Al is more comfortable now and has some of his strength back.  Dehydration can be really, really debilitating--even under better conditions.  Not fun, for sure.

I'm also glad you're finally getting some help so that you don't have to worry so much whether you're doing all you can..or all that Al needs.  I hope this makes it easier to enjoy your time with him more.

I watched totally different shows than you gals!  I like the new Terminator show and my hubbie and I watched CSI: Miami.  The end of that was a little much. Too graphic for my tastes. 

I actually didn't make it to see my dad because Bill had a doctor's appointment at 5:00 today and he dropped Emily off at my sister's.  He was supposed to pick her up and pick Jacob up from swim practice so I could see my dad, but at 6:30 I still hadn't heard from Bill and his phone was turned off.  I ended up having to make a couple of runs to pick up Emily and then Jacob.  Bill called me at 7:45 to tell me he had just gotten out of the doctor's office.  My dad guilted me big time for not going but visiting hours end at 8:00, and, although you can stay later if you are already there, you can't walk in after 8:00.  Oh well - there is always tomorrow.

Anyone watching American Idol tomorrow night?  THe beginning shows are not my favorite, as I am embarassed for the bad singers.

WHEW!  Been doing "family stuff" most of the evening.  My brother, Tom, is doing much better physically and mentally.  He will be discharged from the hospital in 2 days and then will spend about 2 or 3 weeks in a nursing home . . . in the "short term rehab" section.  He will have lots of Physical Therapy and he will be monitored to make sure he COMPLETELY understands and controls his diabetes.  Thanks for your good thoughts and prayers . . . he was in desperate shape and hopefully is on the road to recovery.

Yup, that's our lake, just a few steps from the door. Last week it was frozen and snowmobiles and cars were driving on it. Now, with all the snow, it is slushy. It will be solid by this weekend, though. Brrrrr

Carolyn, yes it was much too graphic. But we've seen people come back from worse disasters on CSI shows. But they were the stars, weren't they. OOPS! Is your dad good at "guilting you big time"? My parents are. I try very hard not to do that to my adult children.

Early this evening, Jim was in the bathroom and I took the call. He later asked who it was and I told him it was his new best friend, Mitt.  :lol  OK, fine, don't laugh.
