Hi everyone, been having computer "issues."  Couldn't get on RTM or CM at all since early Saturday morning.  Thankfully, I was able to get in last night.  Loved catching up!

We had lunch with some of our golf buddies this noon and Clay's name came up about him being nominated to be on DWTS. I told them "no way" and explained about his feet. After they stopped laughing, three of them said they really like to hear him sing. One has MOAM, but said she likes to hear him, but not watch him. I offered to loan her a concert DVD and she said, "no thanks". She may get MCWL if I have an extra. Then another lady said "I do, I do". She's getting JBT tomorrow, and maybe a JNT05. That makes me happy!!!  :wink

Going back a thread to the pet pics, here are my grandpets, Steamboat and Charmin. They were both rescued from the Kalamazoo animal shelter back in 1997 and 1998. There is another one, Butter, who looks like Charmin but is only two.

THANKS for putting me in with all you gals. Now hubby will not think I am not truthful about being there. He was wondering as I had on the other group of RTM gals from a couple of years ago on my laptop.
Now I can put this one on. Good job, GREAT job. My memory has lapsed and I think it was DEBI who did the photoshop.

It was not me who did the CLAY drawing it was KIM. She is so good at getting a perfect likeness. I cannot get such a photographic drawing as she. I did the SUNHAT painting. I am painting a lot. Sometimes an artist has to have about 2 years to get a good collection for a major show. That is what I am working for now.

Forgive me if I do not linger. Mr. J called and I have to pick up some things for dinnner, feed my feral cats and get out the door.

Just an update.  I got the call from the Dr. late this afternoon.  I have an ultrasound needle biopsy scheduled for next Tuesday.  I should have the results the next day.  Until then (and regardless of the outcome) I intend to maintain an optimistic and positive attitude.  Plus I am trying some nutritional treatments BRENDA had been researching before she even knew about this latest "glitch" in my health.  Thank you so much, BRENDA....and thanks to all of you for your love and concern and prayers.   :ghug

ANN, I just saw a boy with the blue cap on as they scanned by home plate!!!

Just finished dinner.  Grilled NY strip steaks, thinly sliced potatoes with chunks of yellow and red peppers, chunks of sweet onion and whole mushrooms went in the grill pan.  Also had sliced garden tomatoes and cucumbers in sour cream.  Plus a glass of Rosemont Merlot wine.  Wonderful!  Heavenly!  I love steak!  We don't have it often it is so expensive plus I like to leave that as something special!

The orange tabbies have always been the most affectionate cats I've had.  One used to call me Mom.  I taught him to answer me when I said, WHO loves you? I wish I had video of that. 

You definitely got some great advice about Woody.  It does sound to me like he was misunderstood, but I agree that the nurse will not admit it at this point.  Definitely document everything.  I would also document all dates where you see changes in Woody's behavior and moods, both good and bad.  It may directly relate to who is on staff that day which of course they will have documented.  I know I have said this, but Woody is so lucky to have you to look out for him.  I feel sad for those who do not have anyone and go through stuff like this.

SO....what is Vietnamese soup??? I can't say I've ever heard of it.  Curious minds want to know! :yes

Mr. Kato is absolutely beautiful.  I have an Akita named Buddy, and I know their personalities are very similar to chows.  Mine seems like a big baby to me, but many people are very afraid of him.

Actually I went through some areas on Realtor.com yesterday and Sanford is one of the places we are going to check out!  I have spreadsheets of each NC city from the past three years and Sanford has grown from 23,000 people to 28,000 in the past two years.  Did you ever visit your brother when he lived down there?  I haven't seen it yet, but you can definitely get a lot more house and land for your money.

Cindy, yes I did visit them. I remember hills and very very tall trees and creeks. Their house had all of them. Huge lot, small house. My SIL worked in Raleigh. It was a charming small town then; doesn't sound so small now.

Morning Shirley!  Boy the Bloody Mary sure goes well with the eggs!  Yummm!  I have to tell you, I've been drinking the Herman's Boy coffee for the last 3 days and it is DELISH! :clap  About the chocolate chip cookies; I can't figure out why I like them frozen so much.  Maybe that hot/cold thing, with the hot coffee and cold cooky.  I tried the Keebler "mystic mint" wannabes in the freezer yesterday instead of the fridge; liked that better, too!

I first loved hot/cold when I was a kid.  My mom would make chocolate pudding (NOT instant, but on the stove) and pour it over vanilla ice cream.  Heavenly!

I had an amazing dream about Clay last night I just have to share. Hope you don't mind

He couldn't do a concert b/c he had no voice, so I just happened to be around some room he was and offered to make him something to drink to help his throat and he said YES !!! So I did and wound up hanging out with him and things got a little hot sand steamy... I loved this dream !!!! but before that happened, I had told him the things that the fans were a little upset about , like Ethel !! LOL b/c he couldn't really talk, he kinda laughed about it and tried to say he'd take it easy with her.  But we were on the couch kissing and then the concert was over, the girls did the concert for him and then they came in and I got to meet everyone and they left and THEN things got all hot and steamy with us and I will remember this part forever and hopefully dream some more. It was a great dream ladies !!!

Thank you all for sharing in our good news!!! This is my conversation with Riley concerning the doctor. She likes the doctor in his office except he doesn't have stickers.  :smile  He's a poopy-head doctor when he's at the hospital.  :bigsmile That's a 3-yr-old for ya.  :roflmao  The grandkids will be here this Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday since their dad is in a wedding in Frankenmuth this weekend. Our two daughters and SILs will be here, too, thank goodness because Jim will be at the MSU/UAB game Saturday. Hope the weather stays comfortable and dry.

Tonight's going to be a good night to sleep. I will probably also put back on the three pounds I've lost in the past couple weeks.  :para

My friend I told you all about whose daughter got cancer, she is having a hard time of it. She had really long blonde hair and the chemo took care of it all. She is real spunky though and seemes to be handling it well. She has a rare form of cancer. I went out to lunch with friends today also.  Had a taco salad.  They said they wanted to hear about my summer concerts.  (They absolutely DO NOT "get it")!  I showed them lots of the RTM party pictures and Sterling Heights Clay pics.  I was doing well ( I think) until I showed them a picture of the "diesels" tag on his jeans.  They looked pleasantly confused and they were glad I enjoyed myself!  :blush

CHRISIE - How very sad about your friends daughter.  :cry  My best friend is in her late 30's and she has been battling cancer since she was in her late teens.  Things are not going so well for her right now at all.  I think things are much worse than she is telling me.  The cancer is in her bones and her brain.  After six months of chemo, radiation and steroids there has been no improvement at all.  She is such an inspiration to me and she is fighting with every ounce of fight she has in her.

DEBI - I guess he was full after the sandwich :lol I hadn't even taken a bite out of it yet!  Here are a couple of great pics of him in the snow....he loves the snow....I guess he won't be too happy THIS winter!!

Cindy, your friend is very brave. There are soo many cancers out there and that is why I do the Breast Cancer walk every year. I figure if they get a cure for that, it will lead to many others.  :cross :cross :cross My cousin was diagnosed when she was in her early 30's and she has the type of Breast Cancer that if you are going to get it, it is the kind to have.... meaning, it's not going to kill her, but she is on chemo for life  :bang Tooo many have this stupid disease I tell you  :bang :bang :bang :bang

This was the action after the candles were blown out.  :lol The girls don't get chocolate very often so they were taking advantage of the cake. My parents are standing behind them. 89 and 86.

I have probably told you about my son's best friend, too. He battled his Hodgkins for seven years and finally succumbed in the M.D. Anderson (?) Hospital. During those years he managed to finish college, get married and buy a house. The college clinic misdiagnosed his swollen glands.  :bang :bang :bang  Two weeks later, he saw his doctor at home and he was diagnosed at Stage 3. He was our second son and we corresponded regularly by email until the week before his death. The world lost a remarkable young man.

Hi Shirley!   I was telling my 21 year old Michael about your stuffed French Toast, and he asked what is in the batter; I couldn't remember that part.  Eggs, obviously, but what else?? :bduh  He has taken an interest in cooking lately. As a matter of fact, he is home for two days before OU starts up again, and fixed us a wonderful steak, corn on the cob and veggies-on-the-grill dinner Monday night!  There were even redskin potatoes in butter/olive oil/garlic roasted in the oven!  Proud of My Boy!!! :yes :luv

The Herman's coffee I am using is called Colombian Supremo "Reserva del Patron"  and Decaf  Roast Colombian (I always mix the beans together half and half, so I don't get too wired  (http://bestsmileys.com/hyper/6.gif).)

KAREN, your posts are so entertaining, love them!!!!  Tell your son you just mix four or five eggs with some milk or cream.  I use half and half as I have that around for my coffee.  It is the same as if you made regular french toast.  I wonder what the difference is in the coffee you got and the regular columbian supremo?  I will have to ask.  I just got coffee Tuesday.

KAREN, just get both sides nice and wet but don't soak it as it will fall apart on you.  Interesting about the coffee.  The store  used to be called the Melting Pot until someone came up and said that was there name and had it for years so they were forced to change it to Herman Boys.  THey have a fantastic store if you ever get in that area you should stop in and see it.

(I'm glad this is all under warranty!!$$$$)  Meanwhile they d/l a trial version of Nero to see if my drives showed up on it (they did).  Is that the program you use?

I also wanted to say, Meesa,  that I drive through Columbus every time I go to see the RTMers up in Michigan for a Clay concert.  If you can ever get a cheap flight to Columbus on Skybus, I could pick you up at the airport on my way up!

Cindy,  I am very bleary-eyed but can handle a little kitchen duty when I'm this tired.  The bookwork will be easy tonight; just putting a few stamps on some mail and checking over the production reports and putting the deposit into my computer.  It'll just take 5 minutes tonite.  Did the headache finally go away?

I would love that, Karen!  :bouncy I'll let you know. I have been using Power Producer to create DVDs, but also use Roxio Easy CD & DVD. I only use Nero to copy DVDs and not that often. Roxio is much quicker. I mailed your DVD on Monday, so you should be getting it soon.  :smile

Just watched Pride and Prejudice with the family.  The version with Kiera Knightly.  IT WAS FABULOUS!  IF you haven't seen it, you just have to!  Bill loved it as well.  Fabulous.

As you know, Bill had back surgery a couple of months ago. Well, since then he has still been experiencing a lot of back pain, but in different areas.  When he made the appointment for his CT scan a few days ago, he made a mistake and said MRI instead.  Well, the scheduling nurse said they would never give him an MRI because he has too much metal in his body.

This made him realize that the doctor who operated on him had sent him for an MRI a few days before the surgery.  This is the same doctor who operated on Bill and removed the other 4 disks in Bill's neck and back in previous operations, so he knew that Bill had metal in him already.

Bill is concerned now because he thinks the pain in his back now is caused by metal that was moved around by the MRI.  I think it is pretty weird that the doctor scheduled him for an MRI.  I think it is very possible that Bill's pain is caused by this.  Anyone have any input on this?

At Woody's facility this morning for the BIG meeting~~~~~Yep it was so big that the friggin' Dr. was out somewhere not to be found and the charge nurse was off today so they had the swing charge who really doesn't know Dad that well, along with our whole fam damily, me fully prepared with notes and whatever to discuss my issues, and all they talked about was the range of motion that he's lost in his paralyzed arm, and the fact that he has constipation issues :bang :bang :bang
I'm afraid I was a bit blunt :para :naughty told them we'd all gotten there to discuss other issues, well, it'll have to be another time, which I demanded they call me ASAP to set up~~~gggrrrrrrrr

Yes, I am quoting myself. I really want people's opinions on this.

Meesa - I was with him before he had his MRI.  No one said a word to him about it.  The only thing they fussed about was that he had a bracelet on indicating the blood tests he had had that day.  I guess he had to have it on for surgery but they had to cut it off for the MRI. Then they wrote a note telling why they cut it off.  He nearly didn't have surgery because it wasn't on his wrist. 

No one, but no one asked if he had any metal in his body or if he worked with metal.  Of course, his spine is pretty much made up of titanium and cadaver bones.  At the time of the MRI, he had 3 disks in his back and 2 disks in his neck that had already been fused.  Now he has had 2 more disks in his back.

AND SEX WITH THE BARTENDER IS MIGHTY TASTY TOO! :yum

CAROLYN, HAVE YOUR HUBBY GET A SECOND OPINION...

It is not a matter of getting an opinion - He has had the surgeries.  The problem is that we think the MRI pulled his spine apart.  He is in more pain than he should be at this point, recuperating from back surgery.  We need to find out if it this is the case.  That is why I was asking for input regarding MRI's and metal in people's bodies.

Carolyn...I do know that with metal in your body a MRI is usually not done!!!! I have heard that there are new machines that do allow them to be done...although I have never know of anyone who has had one.  How much damage  a MRI can do if there is metal I don't know.  I would question the Dr that did his surgery...I think that is a good place to start....It would be pretty Crappy if he is suffering because of a Dr overlooking something like that..

THEN, I WOULD CONSULT AN ATTORNEY OF THE MATTER....

Carolyn, I don't know much about MRI'S and metal, though I am surprised that he had one from this Dr. who knows Bill's background :bduh I think some pins, rods and metals used to fuse bones can distort the MRI, but would not be dangerous to Bill's condition.  Again, I'm not that familiar.

Hi Peeps !

CAROLYN - I just happen to be at work right now at the hospital, so I asked one of the RN's about metal and MRI's.  She stated that when there are metal components in a patient's body, the MRI images can be distorted by the metal and therefore may not be as valuable a diagnostic tool as some other diagnostic imaging tests.  She said that MRI's would not be able to dislodge metal that was fused or screwed or anyway connected to bones in the spine.  Hope that makes you feel somewhat better.  While the nurse was answering me, the ER doctor on duty came to the desk and also said that the quality of the MRI can be lessened when there is metal present, but didn't feel it would be damaging to the patient.

Have you placed a call to Bill's doctor to state your concerns regarding the MRI?  He/she probably can put your fears to rest  . . . or give you an explanation. 

Thank you all so much!  Bill is waiting to see what the results of the CT scan are.  He is supposed to see the doctor again in a couple of weeks.  I guess we will see then.

His doctor is the head of neurosurgery for Providence Hospital, so he is definitely no lightweight.  We will see, I guess.

Yep whoever guess that Preston took me away without me fixing your breakfast they are correct!!  :lol  We were gone by 8:00 am.  Grandma and grandpa babysat all day!!   :bouncy  Did I say I could sit all day and hold that baby all cuddled up to me and rock him and tell him how beautiful he is and how much we love him!!!  We gave Preston's parents the day off today.  They went to Bay City to shop for a crib, as he is in a cradle right now, and go out for a nice early dinner and just escape together and get some down time.  We really pushed them out the door.  It was a glorious day today, blue skies, and 80 degrees!  My son lives in a house I sold him.  It sits on 20 wooded acres with a acre of grass in the back of the house with a huge pond and a corral where you can watch his Tennessee Walker horse prancing around.  A picture perfect setting.  So when we weren't spoiling the baby we were sitting outside on the deck enjoying nature.  I fixed a casserole for their dinner tomorrow so they won't have to cook.

A. MRI scans are used to diagnose many types of medical conditions, including many orthopedic problems. However, people with metal implants in their body may not be able to have a MRI performed. The reason is that the MRI is done using a very strong magnetic field to create the images. Some metal implants could cause problems if subjected to these incredibly high magnetic forces. Always check with your doctor to ensure that your implant is safe for MRIs.
The implants that are most prone to causing problems for patients with MRIs are the following:

Pacemakers or heart valves
Metal implants in a patient's brain
Metal implants in a patient's eye or ears
Infusion catheters
Most patients with these types of metal implants cannot have a MRI done.
In addition, patients who have been injured by bullets or shrapnel, or patients who work with metals, should be specifically questioned to determine if a MRI is possible.

Some metal implants typically do not cause problems.

Most orthopedic and dental implants are not magnetic. These include hip and knee replacements; plates, screws, and rods used to treat fractures; and cavity fillings. All of these metal implants can distort the MRI image if near the part of the body being scanned, but they will usually not cause problems. Even if you think the metal implant is compatible with the MRI machine, you must let the MRI personnel know in order to ensure this metal is compatible.

 :wave ANN  :hugg.  No news.  I will be having an "ultrasound needle biopsy" Tuesday morning at 8:45 p.m.  Will probably get the results Wednesday afternoon.

SHIRLEY, yup I'm afraid I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment.  Thanks for understanding.  It really hit me hard today when I had to get my hair colored today to cover my roots.......I was thinking that it was an exercise in futility, as I could be losing my hair  should have to go through chemo again.  I'm not really thinking rationally, as you can see.   :bduh

Thanks again, everyone.  I love the Internet.  I was able to get the information off the net as well, but it is all generic.  You all gave me more specific advice and Bill felt a little comforted.

Bill is walking and doing things but he wears out a lot more easily and has a lot more pain. 

Ann - we aren't going camping this year because we sold our trailer last year to pay down debt and we can't afford to go this year.   :cry

The kids and I just got back from playing tennis a few minutes ago.  It really helps to exercise. Takes a lot of the edge off.

CAROLYN, thanks so much for being "real" about this... :hugg :hugg  I know that prayers are there for me....but I am also enough of a realist to know that the Lord doesn't always answer our prayers in the way we would hope.  Which is why, yes, I am preparing for good or bad.  But I do know that we are each given our trials and challenges in life for a reason, so whatever happens, I will try to accept it and make the best of it.
