SHARON, I am all washed up and back in bed ready for my breakfast tray!! Gee how special is that to have you bring me breakfast in bed.
Don just put a English roast into the crock pot with sliced peppers, onions and mushrooms. Will let it cook all day till real tender and than slice thin and just make sandwiches with it like submarine sandwiches with swiss cheese melted on top. That will be good enough for our dinner today . Something good and hot but easy.
KIM, read your post and got tears in my eye as I can sense how upset and sad you are about your grannie. I am so glad grannie liked the candle and the Frostie was good for her. With her tongue swollen I wonder just how dehydrated she is.
KAREN, sounds like a wonderful restaurant, will have to go look at the menu. Sure am glad you had help cleaning the driveway this time, it is way to much for you to do.
EVELYN, boy you sure did get a lot of snow, aren't you glad you are retired!!!!!!!!
Hope everyone has a good day today.

Karen...there are online study guides for those tests too. Joey just took his SAT and ACT tests. He did not study one bit...brat.
He still scored above average on both.
IF he had studied like he should...he'd have really nailed em.
See now Justin is doing just what Joey did...packing his Senior year with the hard classes! Get ready Karen...you'll be in my shoes with these big presentations & reports all at once next year!
I'll try to remember what we're doin so I can help ya next year!
This LIT project final report and presentation isn't due til March. Outline and thesis statement are due Tuesday. I'm pushin him to finish the LIT project now though...since the Am govt report is due in March also....get one done, work on the next instead of tryin to do them both at once!
AND he's in the midst of an Economics project...they're playin the stock market!
NOTHING is making money for em right now!
The "winner"...whoever makes the most on the stocks in 4 months...gets dinner with Charlie Crist.
What classes did Justin sign up for?
Shirley....I'm kinda wondering if granny's dehydration, dizziness, slurred speech, etc., couldn't be related to her taking magnesium. She's been takin it quite often, and if her kidneys aren't working properly they won't break it down right and it could cause those things too.
It's so hard to diagnose her when she's got so much goin on! (and...I aint no doctor!) We're gonna have her stop the magnesium and see how that goes. Maybe it'll help..maybe it won't...but it won't hurt her any not to take it.
Wow.
that's a dang long post for not sayin much aint it?

Kim,
Michael and Matt didn't really study much either. Matt took the ACT twice tho, and both final results were the same but varied within.
Justin has found those study guides you are talking about. He's taking abbreviated versions of the tests which are designed to show you what you need to study. These results don't go to the colleges or anything; they're just meant to show you what you need to spend time on. Plus, I found Michael's test and I have the answer sheet, so he can take a practice test here at home and we can grade it, and see what he needs to work on that way, too.
Right now he's planning all this for senior year: AP Spanish, AP Physics, Honors Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP World History, and AP Language Arts IV. Yipes! He's a LOT more ambitious than I ever was!!
He earned a 4.55 gpa last quarter. But since his freshman year was not up to his capabilities, he's only in the top 25% of his class (he does have a very ambitious class, to be fair to him).
Is Joey thinking of taking the tests again? I thought you had to be done with the tests, and kinda decided on a college by Dec. of your senior year???
Sharon,
the A.C.T. test has to be taken before a college will accept you. It's one of the things they look at besides your high school grade point average. Some colleges prefer the S.A.T. as a college entrance exam.
I guess most public colleges accept the A.C.T., and since Justin will probably go to OSU or Cincinnati, he shouldn't need the S.A.T., which is a similar type of test.
Kim,
which test does Columbia want?

Karen...Columbia requires both the SAT and ACT (so does University of Florida...think it's standard to have both here now.) but Columbia also wants 2 subject tests...Math and either Chemistry or Physics. since Joey's had neither he's got the study book for Physics...those tests aren't until May though.
They'll already have made their decision by then!
He probably won't even study the Math knowing him.
No...Joey won't take the tests again ( and momma aint payin them fees twice!
) and since he scored above average ... he just sent the results as is. That plus his transcript & GPA...should be ok.
I hope.
DANG! Justin's schedule is gonna be TOUGH!
YIKES!

Karen and Kim, boy now I need to go back to bed again after reading those schedules, etc. We RTMers sure have smart kids, don't we?!!!!!!! You must both be so proud - rightly so! Kudos to Joey and Justin, and to both of you for being super moms.
Philly, wow, hope you are plowed out now.
Evelyn, you too.
We only had about 3-4 inches. I guess out "big storm" is coming Tuesday/Wednesday - only predicting 8 inches so far. Sure hope they're wrong.
Shirley, sure hope you enjoyed your breakfast in bed. So nice of Sharon to serve you.
Had a chest x-ray yesterday as we were afraid I had pneumonia - very short of breath and a lot of congestion and cough the last couple of days. No pnemonia, just inflammation in the lungs. I've been on an antibiotic for few days (preparation for the surgery) and hopefully that is holding off pneumonia. I wish it would clear this up though. At least my lungs don't look any worse than they did in November when I was in the hospital - that's a good thing. My surgeon says I cannot have any steriods (it is detrimental to the healing process) so I had best not get pneumonia. Sure do not want to postpone the surgery, that's for sure.
Hey, Kim and Peggy, how about pics of the candles; they sound so pretty. So glad your grandma is enjoying them. Kim, the only way you will know about her magnesium is if you get blood work. I would bet anything her electrolytes are really all over the place. If she would get some blood work chances are they could easily correct the electrolyte imbalance and she would most certainly feel a lot better. Just saying ....
It is very late. Guess I ought to check to see if we have any work. BBL

SHARON, thank you for the beautiful flowers, they are gorgeous. Gads flowers and breakfast in bed, how wonderful !
KIM, I agree with BRENDA I bet your grannie's electrolytes are all over and her pottasium is low.
BRENDA,, hate to hear you are not feeling well. You are always so busy with the kids, you need to stay in and stay warm and rest. Want you okay for your surgery. I guess I would really be a poor risk for surgery since I live on steriods!!!
Had my usual bowl of hot chicken soup for lunch now headed to watch TV for a while.

Talking about tests, this is fun!!!When you get your score let us all know!!! I got 45.
Below is Dr.Phil's test
(Dr. Phil scored 55, he did this on Oprah

Don't be overly sensitive!
The following is pretty accurate and it only takes a few minutes.

It's only 10 Simple questions, so grab a pencil and paper, keeping track of your letter answers to each question.
Make sure to change the subject of the email to read YOUR total.
When you are finished, forward this to friends, family, and also send it t o the person who sent this to you.

10 (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1
Now add up the total number of points.
OVER 60 POINTS: Others see you as someone they should 'handle with care'. You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.
51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality, a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once, someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.
41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting, someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding, someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.
31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & ; practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expects the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you, realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.
21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively
or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think t his reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.
UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions and who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well, know that you aren't.

Kim,
what website did you use to find this info on OSU and U of C?
I was just now at the OSU website and they say either/or.
Unless maybe you need both tests to apply for scholarships???

- Love boiled dinner. Dick makes ours with corn beef and cabbage and a bunch of the root vegetables.
potatoes, carrots, onions, rutabaga, sometimes sweet potato and parsnips.
We are having a Yankee pot roast tonight. Chuck pot roast with carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, and onions all cooked in the same pot.
Smells really good in here right now.
Well, taxes are done and getting some $$ back. Not as much as I thought, but good enough I guess.
