wave   Just checking in from our hotel in St. Louis. No problem getting here. We left last evening and took our time. Now I'm going to shower and get into clean clothes before my dad and brother get here. He called to say he had a blowout on the expressway but all is well and they're waiting for his new tire to be put on before they get back on the road.

BBL to read how everyone is doing.

Kim - I'm SO glad you like them!  I always worry.  I always try to tweek the pictures a little bit.  Makes them look a bit better.     You'll have to let me know what your mom and uncle think after they see them.   blush

PEGGY, I love it that you are enjoying your time off work with your crafts and puzzles. Sure wished I lived near by so I could come and visit and just watch you do crafts.

Shirley - Yes!  I would love that too!  You could join in and make something yourself.   bigsmile  I have lots of stuff.

Brenda, we got quite a bit of snow, but the roads have been cleared so it's okay.  Dave, Matt and I joined forces to clean off the driveway.  That stuff is heavy this time; it was raining, then snowing, then raining when I went to bed, then several inches of snow on top of that.  So it was very heavy and wet!

So glad you and Marilyn didn't get hit hard!

Marilyn, FINALY!  HALLELUJAH!!  A great haircut!  Like Shirley says, that's really something to celebrate since it only happens 3-4 times a lifetime!! Laughing  Shirley, that made me laugh!!
Hey Marilyn, can you show us you with your new haircut?  Or at least the picture you showed 'em?? Wink

Becky, very glad you checked in, and had no trouble getting there! Clapping Huggles

Sharon, boiled dinner?  May not be my favorite recipe of yours. Laughing

Well, I sure am snowed in. Brenda and Shirley - where could I go?  There's 15 inches of snow.
It finally stopped at noon today. Matt had to keep shoveling the driveway, but there is a huge mound on both sides now. I can't get out my front door. The snow is up to my bushes. Wow - this is the worst snow storm around here in ages.

Sharon - that tea sure tastes good.

Peggy _ I knew Kim would love those candles, they are so special. You do great work.

Philly, honey, knew you were going to get lots of snow, too!!!!! Did you stay inside. Everything here was closed down and there was a level 3 emergency, which meant nothing but emergency vehicles were allowed on the roads. It's supposed to snow again on Tuesday, but I hope not as much as this snowstorm. Stay warm, honey.

 eek! eek! eek! doh

Philly, don't try shoveling that yourselves!  Do you know someone with a snowplow who can clear your driveway for you?? hypnotic

Evelyn, you too!  That's way too much snow to try to shovel yourself!!

I guess we're lucky it rained so much Friday instead of snowing!

Sure glad we shoveled the drive; went down to 15 degrees last night, and all that slushy snow would now be solid ice!!!

Our power kept going out on us yesterday, but then came back on.  This happened about 6 times.  Hope everybody can keep their electricity, so we can all stay warm and be able to cook!! (AND keep in touch on our 'puters!!)

Shirley, you were in the hospital when I posted about my day a week ago Saturday.
First we went to see the movie "Avatar" in 3D at an Imax theater; that was fun.  My mother-in-law met Dave, Matt, Justin and I, and we all loved the movie.

Here is part of my post about where we ate, including a link to the restaurant:

Afterwards we went to a restaurant called "Aladdin's."  Sharon, I think you would love this restaurant!  Middle Eastern food.  They had falafels!!  But I wanted to try something different.  I got Aladdin's Favorite, like a sampler platter.  Delicious!  Beef Kafta, Chicken Tawook, and Shish Kabob. The guys got the Meditteranean Lamb plate.  I tried a bite of Dave's; it was wonderful too!  They are mostly in Ohio, but also have eateries in Livonia, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh.
Here is a link for anyone interested:  Aladdin's Eatery  Oh, yeah, and they had fantastic desserts!!  I had a taste of their carrot cake and cherry cheesecake. Drool
Shirley, I know you would love to hear about the food, wish you were feeling better!! Huggles

Mornin Sistahs! wave

Today is homework day. Paranoid Almost done with this project...got another comin up tho. Gosh this kid has a tough schedule. Next one is for American Govt...paper is on Sept 11 though. I actually have the newspapers still from the day after 9-11 so we're ahead of the game on that one. hypnotic

Here's a kinda odd thing...his LIT teacher insisted on having the outline for this report done in FULL SENTENCES. You ever heard of an outline in full sentences before? That's kinda like writing the whole report aint it?! doh

So...Marilyn or Meesa or anyone who knows this stuff...in my Windows Movie Maker program...it gives me an option to save this slideshow/movie to a CD. Wouldn't I want to make it a DVD...not a CD? scratch
Basically..what can or should I save it on so Joey can play it in class? I would THINK they'd have a tv with a DVD player.
If not...he'll just have to bring in his laptop and play it on that I guess.

Waitin on momma to get home & see how granny's night went. She seemed okay when I left after dinner. I noticed she is forgetting common words...but I'm not sure that she hasn't done that all along! Maybe I'm just noticing now cuz I'm paying attention to it! I dunno! nixweiss

For all you in the midst of "Snowmageddon"..stay warm & safe! Huggles Huggles Huggles

Hi Kim!
Granny's not the only one forgetting common words!
I do it all the time.  So frustrating!  Hope she is doing better today. Huggles

Justin has been really doing his research on colleges, the A.C.T., and all that stuff.  A couple of his friends are taking a $500 course to prepare for the A.C.T.  icon_eek Yeah, they're kinda rich I guess!!  Anyway, Justin was reading that people have had as much or more success by just getting the book, so that's what we are doing.  $20 instead of $500.  Good decision!! Laughing

Anyway, I'm very proud of him!  He's really trying to make up for the lower grades he got in 9th grade when he was not in a "good place."  He's planning five AP courses (5.0 classes) his senior year. hypnotic  Hope he doesn't burn out!!

When is Joey's project due?  Does he have time to ask the teacher whether a tv/dvd player will be available for the projects?
