Good morning, all...

Been up for a LONG time already.  At 7:05, my cell phone was ringing...answered it...  Okay...who knows some prisoner named Carlos who's looking for someone to accept his collect calls?  He called last night, too, around 7:30..and then again this morning at 7:05.  UGH!  THEN...just as I was getting back to sleep, it rings again and it's some danged 800 # call.  What the heck?  Have our cell #'s been released to the telemarketers already?  Tonight, I WILL turn the danged thing OFF before I go to bed, and -- in the future --  if it's not a # I recognize, I will NOT answer.

Anyway, snow has started here, too.  I thought about getting up after the convict called and taking my car in for an oil change.  It's past due and I keep forgetting to get it done.  That's not at all like me, but I guess I'm slipping a little in my old age.  Laughing   I need to get to home depot, too, and get some driveway markers so the snow plow doesn't dig up the yard.  They put little flimsy sticks out there and plowed those down the first snowfall.  Laughing

The Bachelor... I don't know why everyone dislikes Vienna so much.  I see nothing wrong with her, and she and Jake seem to click together.  My favorite, though, is Tenley, and I'm betting she's the one he picks in the end.  The Aly thing is too reminiscent of Ed & Jillian last time.  I don't think he'll take her back, though...think he's already picked, and she did him a favor by leaving.  I never liked her at all...think she is one royal beyotch.  Now...shall we start a betting pool about who he'll end up with?   Laughing

Okay...guess I will go get on the treadmill for about a half hour, then     Hopefully, that will help me out when I  goodscales

STAY WARM!

Hmm, I read on Snopes where that whole "releasing cell phone numbers to telemarketers" thing was false, Mar.  Maybe Snopes doesn't know it all?? Paranoid

I tend to agree with you about The Bachelor.  The only one who seems to like and get along with Vienna is Gia.  I really like Gia; think she is a nice person inside.  She didn't go along with the "mob mentality" about Vienna. I can't get past how Ali acted throughout the show about Vienna.  I'm sure there is lots we aren't seeing from behind the scenes, tho.  I just hope Jake gets a girl who is there for HIM, and not just getting her name out there for fame purposes.

Anyone think Jake should land a part in a movie or the lead in a TV show?  He is just sooo cute and sweet! (oh wait - he DID land the lead in a TV show!! Laughing)

HEY, ATTENTION AMERICAN IDOL FANS!  Tonight is the start of Hollywood Week, and Ellen DeGeneres will be finally on the show.  I'm excited!  Hope we don't lose our power!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there is a new cell phone problem now - has been on the news here.

http://www.wtol.com/global/story.asp?s=11953073

Sorry, Marilyn, I just cannot stand Vienna - she is so juvenile and I think she acts "entitled." I like Gia best. Tenley is not over her ex-husband. I think this would be a rebound and not a good idea for either one of them. She needs to heal some more. She was driving me crazy with my ex'husband this, my ex-husband that constantly. She is so obviously injured and needs more mending before she commits to a marriage. Ali seems sweet - she was my favorite at first but she also turned me off with all the Vienna stuff - even though I never could stand Vienna and never understood why Jake could either. Gia gets my vote (even though I don't really have one).

Snow continues - faster and more so far than they had predicted. The girls are happy with no school (their first snow day this year) and will probably have another one tomorrow.

I am out of work already - guess no one wants to go to the hospital or doctor in the snow either.

Brenda, my hubby's aunt had something like this happen to her.  Someone identifying himself as her grandson called; he had gone to Canada with a friend, things weren't good at home (Calif.), and he had gotten into trouble.  He wanted her to wire him $400, and not let his mom and dad know.  He knew everybody in the family's names etc., pretty scary!  I really don't know if it was a cell phone tho.  She didn't send the money, thankfully.

 wave  all

Don't watch Bachelor, but it's fun to "hear" all your conversations.

Peggy, I take a photo of each of our puzzles before we take them apart. They have their own special folder on my computer.  Smile

Jim just left the cottage to head here before the snow gets too bad. Dad has a 2:45 doctor apptmt today and we're going to get there no matter what. He came home in bad shape. Let's just say it's not pretty or pleasant. Actually it's just sad. He told me yesterday that his doctor had told him he belongs in a nursing home and he's afraid that's what he'll say today. I never knew that.

Anyway, stay safe everyone in this pretty snow. Makes one want to ski again. That's probably because one would be young again.  Wink   Laughing

Later..........

Hope none of you has a Toyota!

BRENDA, sounds like they will do a lot of testing if you are going in that early for preparation for your surgery.   Usually you don't have to go until early the morning of surgery.    Take care so that congestion doesn't get any worse.  Gee with me taking steriods every day for the past two  years I guess I would be a poor candidate for surgery do you think?????

MARILYN, What did you and Dylan play yesterday?  Did you pick up chickens for dinner?  Doesn't your DIL ever cook for you?????

Afternoon ladies.   Huggles   (Notice I didn't say good today.)  To much snow coming down.

Shirley - I had to stay to late babysitting for dinner with Dick yesterday.  He made beef stew, which we will have tonight.    Dick heated up something in the microwave for his dinner and microwave ended up making loud noises, and started to have a burning smell.  We had to replace it this morning.     We went out before the roads got to bad with snow.

Becky - So sorry to hear about your dad.  You've really had your hands full this past year.   Huggles
I think that is something that all of us have thought about at some time lately.  Hope that I never have to go in one myself.

I just started scanning a picture of the puzzle box to show the ones I've done.  I still haven't started this last puzzle, probable will start tonight after dinner.
In the past years, I have made lots of candles and cards and don't have a picture of them either.    nixweiss
I just started doing that too.  I really wish I was doing that years ago.

Marilyn - Check to make sure you cell phone is on the do not call list.

Evelyn - How are you doing?  Are you getting very much of this snow?
How did Matt's spaghetti dinners go over?

Becky, my next door neighbor is in a similar situation.  Except I think he's developed alzheimer's in addition to his physical ailments.  His kids tried putting him in a very nice local nursing home a few years ago, and he HATED it.  So they brought him back home and found a woman who comes out every day at about 8am, stays till 4 pm, then comes back in the evening to get him to bed.  It's probably cheaper than a nursing home.  I don't think she is a nurse, but she switches out Mondays with a lady who IS a nurse.   (Every now and then we see an ambulance there, taking him to the hospital, but so far he's been fixed up apparently, and comes back home.)

Could that be an option for your dad?

Sharon, glad sales were good!   Clapping

Just got in from shoveling the snow with two of my sons.   We weren't as happy as this little emoticon tho.  Laughing It took the 3 of us over an hour to do the driveway and walks!   I'm estimating about 5" of heavy snow had fallen before it quit.  It's lightly raining now.

Supposed to get pretty cold tonight but maybe only snow one more inch.  Clapping

Off to shower and wash my rained-on, flattened-out, frizzy hair!  icon_eek

Becky, my heart breaks to hear that about your dad Huggles I will never forget the day we had THE meeting we all dreaded that Woody would never recover enough from his stroke to come home~~~painful, just tore my heart out.  That's why we gave every spare ounce of energy to him that we had poor little duck.  I won't ever get over that sentence he got, never.
I have to agree with B. on Vienna, can't stand her, have heard some very racy things about her too Puke and her daddy makes her feel entitled, he is an enabler, can't stand him either Puke Now Tenley had a great dad Huggles sensitive, now he loves his little girl.

Filling Every Empty Space With Clay

« Reply #1074 on: February 09, 2010, 03:35:53 PM »

 wave wave

Sorry I've been here so seldom the past couple of weeks.  Trying to settle everything regarding my Mom's passing.  She assigned me to be her representative, so I'm taking care of her life insurance and "her estate".  That dear lady paid her own way at Country House (assistive living) for almost 9 years.  She had saved her money.  She was running out of funds, but she was an inspiration to the rest of our family when it came to being responsible. Huggles

MEESA - Loved your Clay pictures this morning! That wedding date is approaching very quickly!

BRENDA - I'm glad that your surgery date is set and that you'll be in the hospital for a day ahead of time.  All will be well! Huggles

BECKY - Good luck with plans for your Dad.  Would an Assistive Living place be acceptable to him?  They have all of their meals served in the dining room and someone gives them their medication.  He could be quite independent, yet he would be safe.  They also have activities that he may be interested in. We always took Mom out of the "home".  We could take her out anytime for any period of time!  BUT  . . . she could no longer live alone.  She was frightened and so were we.  Ever so often, she would have a "weak spell" and would feel as if she was going to fall.  Thinking of you at this difficult time.  Be sure to consider what will work out for you and Jim! Huggles

SHARON - Glad you had a good day of sales . . . . and safe travels!  Huggles  How is the weather in Kitchener??

KAREN - You are going to have strong muscles with all of the snow shoveling!  Smile  WOW!  We are in the middle of a snow storm now.  The winds are supposed to really pick up . . . . and the school kids will probably have a Snow Day!  Smile

MARILYN - Carlos is persistent.  He must have your number on speed dial!  bigsmile

PEGGY - It's good to see your posts.  I'm amazed at how fast you can do a puzzle.  When I was growing up, there always was a card table set up with a puzzle on it.  I always tried to be the one who did the "edges" . . . but I wasn't very handy in the middle.

SHIRLEY -  Glad you had a MacDonald's meal after your doctor's appointment on Monday.  I still love hearing about food.  I'm happy when I see that you feel good enough to cook.  What is Preston's favorite meal??

BETH - Are the kids enjoying winter??  Are you watching Idol this year??  I think I envy your laundry room.  My washer and dryer are in the basement . . . and it is not painted.  Paranoid

MARY - Didn't you recently switch doctors??  How is your eye?  Hope you are able to have your back "fixed".  Also hope that the new little baby in your family continues to thrive!  Huggles

EVELYN -  I also was wondering how Matt's spaghetti dinners were doing.  Does he serve them at noon and also on the regular menu??  Bet you wish you were at BOZENA's during this miserable weather.  Huggles

Looking forward to the Idol tonight.  FINALLY, the regular competition begins in Hollywood.  This is Ellen's first night!

HUGS to our MIA Members.  Huggles Huggles  We'll leave the porch light on.  blush

I am so sick of snow!!!!! It is really snowing now and we are expected to get another 8 inches. Well, I've been homebound so nothing to do, but clean house and bake.

Matt's dinner are just in the evening and are taking off, but slower than he thought. I think it will improve when people are more aware of them.

I haven't been in the shop at all . This weather has kept me in the house.
