OMG, SUNNY.  THAT JUST BROUGHT TEARS.   HE HAD VERTIGO SO BAD AND AFTER LIVING WITH BARRY'S SPELLS THE PAST FEW YEARS, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA HOW HE DID THAT.  WHAT A VOICE.  WHAT A MAN.  THIS IS, LADIES, WHY WE ARE HERE.  NO ONE CAN MAKE ME FEEL A SONG LIKE CLAY DOES.

ON THIS FIRST NIGHT OF HANUKKAH, WE CELEBRATE MIRACLES.  HAVING YOU ALL IN MY LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS MAN IS A MIRACLE.

It truly is a miracle, GWENN, that somehow all of us came together several years ago.  It's been a bumpy ride but given the choice, I would do it all over again.

I have been gone for a couple of days.  Phil and I placed my aunt with Alzheimer's in a nursing home.  Because she has spent down most of her assets, she had to go into a Medicaid nursing home.  It was very sad to unpack all of her worldly possession into a three-drawer chest of drawers and a 3-feet wide closet.  All I can say at this time is:

Celebration  "To life, to life, la chaim!"

Happy Hannukah to our Jewish friends!

That particular performance was truly an example of yet another miracle.... Thanks, SUNNY, for the reminder of why we are all still here.  Huggles

I WAS THERE- I HAD TEARS IN MY EYES. BUT HE MADE US LAUGH. IT WAS WONDERFUL.

I REMEMBER WE TALKED TO SOME OF THE SECURITY GUARDS AFTERWARDS, AND THEY TOLD US HE HAD LEFT BY AMBULANCE. BOY, WERE WE SCARED THEN!!

MY FRIEND CAME TO THE CONCERT WITH ME- SHE WAS VERY IMPRESSED BY HIS HUMOR AND HIS COURAGE. THAT CONCERT IS STILL THE MOST IMPRESSIVE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO.

Gwenn, this is so true.  We came together because of this man and we have stayed together because of him and because we have made some wonderful friends along the way.  In addition to being friends, I think we have all learned so much from each other as we hear about all the different holiday traditions.  Because of these friendships, I think we have become more understanding and tolerant about many things we may not have known much about six years ago.   Knowing each other as people and friends first has given us a chance to broaden our horizons because we saw that people are very much the same, with the same life challenges and opportunities.

While we are all different in our own ways, we have been united as a very close group of friends because of one man with very few prejudices.

I'd appreciate your prayers...this is going to be difficult...and I have a long, solo drive home afterwards...wish my sister could come with me...oh well...it's the first student of mine, that I know of, that has passed on.  And as I mentioned a while back, we were especially close.  I'm going to go make my Uncle's fudge recipe...that might help me keep my spirits up.

Gwenn and Marion, Happy Hanukkah!  Your dinner sounds delish, Gwenn.  I have yet to have one of your latkes......someday.

Pam, that is one of my favorite performances.  I'm hoping we'll hear that wonderful voice again soon.

I am truly thankful for the friendships I've made because of Clay.  I was watching the Early Show today.  They had Boyz II Men on.  They showed a clip of them singing End of the Road, and immediately I thought of Clay singing that on the JBT.  Boy, that seems like ages ago.  That tour is still by far my favorite.

I, too, watched Dr. Phil the other day, hoping I'd see Clay at the family holiday dinner.  Just Jaymes.  Guess he was busy.  I did enjoy seeing Andrea Bottchelli and Natale Cole.  Andrea's voice is pure velvet (must put his CD on my Xmas list), and Natale looked and sounded beautiful.  Dr. Phil was very gracious, asking everyone how they celebrated the holidays.  It was a very enjoyable show.  I love Christmas!  I love Clay, too, and particularly miss him at this time of year.  Wonder if we'll ever get another JNT.

Johanna, you'll be in my thoughts.  So sad!

Good morning!

Today I am baking another huge batch of baklava.  This time half of it will go to a Christmas party we will be attending this evening;  the other half will probably be given on little plates to friends;  hopefully we'll have enough to enjoy a few pieces ourselves!   bigsmile

JOHANNA, what a sad day this will be for you and the family/other friends of this young lady who has passed so unexpectedly.  Please drive carefully;  I understand how difficult it is to travel long distances alone.  Stay alert and be safe, OK?

If anybody watched the PBS special with David Foster, Andre Bocelli, et all last night, I'm sure you will agree that Clay would be a perfect fit at least as a guest singing partner with somebody like Andre Bocelli.  If Mary Jo Blige can do it, why not Clay???  Come on, Uncle David, maybe you can finally give Clay/a.k.a. your sister's baby daddy a little break????

HE'S KILLING ME!!!!!!

« Reply #15 on: December 12, 2009, 07:47:26 AM »

MORNING--

I AM STILL TIRED.  I HAVE A BUSY DAY AND I AM THRILLED WE ARE NOT GOING OUT TONIGHT AT ALL.  LUNCH WITH A FRIEND AND THEN BARRY AND I ARE GOING TO BED BATH AND BEYOND TO SPEND OUR HANUKKAH GIFT FROM ER AND FINALLY FINISH THE POWDER ROOM.  WE WILL THEN BE OFFICIALLY DONE WITH THE HOUSE FOR A LONG, LONG TIME.

JOHANNA---I HAVE HAD SEVERAL STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN KILLED OVER THE YEARS.  IT IS A HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE FEELING.  I HAVE SEEN A FORMER STUDENT ON THE LOCAL NEWS WHO KILLED SOMEONE.  THAT IS JUST AS HORRIBLE.  HAVING TAUGHT IN THE INNER CITY FOR SO LONG, IT WAS INEVITABLE.

THE GOOD THING, I HAVE SEEN SOME WONDERFUL THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED TO FORMER STUDENTS ALSO.  STUDENTS WHO BECAME LAWYERS AND TEACHERS AND SO ON. A SPECIAL ED/EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED KID WHO CAME TO ME IN 7TH GRADE AND BLOSSOMED INTO A FINE YOUNG MAN AND COLLEGE GRAD.   AS A MATTER OF FACT, ONE OF THE GUYS BARRY COACHED FOOTBALL IS IN THE NFL AND WE SAW HIM THIS MORNING ON THE LOCAL NEWS.  HE TOOK A LOAD OF KIDS FROM THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HE WENT TO AND GAVE THEM EACH MONEY TO CHRISTMAS SHOP.  THAT IS UPLIFTING FOR SURE.

AS YOU ARE AT THIS FUNERAL, THINK OF ALL THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE FOR SO MANY KIDS.  IT HELPS.

MICKI---I MISS YOU. Huggles

THEA--ENJOY YOUR PARTY TONIGHT.  AND THAT BAKLAVA.

AND I AGREE ABOUT DF.  CLAY NEEDS THAT PUSH.  KELLY HAS REBA.  CARRIE AND DAUGHTRY HAVE SIMON FULLER.  RHIANNA HAS JAY Z.  EVERYONE NEEDS THAT SPECIAL INFLUENTIAL PERSON TO OPEN DOORS.  IF DF CAN CALL CLAY HIS BIL, THEN HE CAN OPEN THOSE DOORS.

I GOTTA GO GET READY.  AND I CANNOT FIND MY CELL PHONE ANYWHERE.

Could this really be true?!! iglitter.gif My sister swears that is exactly what they said. I thought I would put it to you all to see if you have heard anything.
