Prissy,

Great pictures!  I love the one of Shadow in the front with Sandy at the gazebo  in the background.!

Here are a couple I took this morning too.  The first one is a small patio where we put pot plants in the summer.  The wheel barrel is an old  one that I fill with plants.  The bench is too worn out to sit in, so it also has plants on it during the summer.

The second photo is a "work in progress" project for this spring.  The statue is going to get a new coat of paint and I'm going to build a stone retainer wall around the circled bed.

DUDLEY, how wonderful to see your post.  Glad you got your card.  sometimes a card can say more than I can say in words and tell you what your wonderful friendship means to me.  I thought maybe  you got snow also.  Days like  you are having is wonderful when you have a fireplace to take the chill off .  I have the thermostat here set on 71 degrees,.  I swore in my old age I would never be cold.  I live in my sweat suits anymore but that is not good as when I get dressed to go to the doctors (only place I go it seems) my clothes don't fit to good anymore).

PRISSY,  yep Don and I are getting older so we need to take care of somethings when my son is here.  Don has a diamond ring which belonged to his dad than to him that he wants Mark to have so he will give him that and we need to make a copy of the deed to this house and give to him and some house keys as the deed is in my son's name also, so when we are gone the house goes directly to him.  I can hardly wait to hug his neck and kiss on him in the morning when he is having his coffee.  He is so content to sit at my kitchen table and just talk and drink coffee.  I think I will engage him in a game of checkers on the wonderful table cloth you sent me.  I don't think Preston will mind if his uncle plays with it.  bigsmile

LOLITA, loved all the funnies, thanks for the enjoyable read.   Huggles

BETTY,    you are right I will just think of the joy of Mark coming not in the sadness of him leaving .  I guess it is just so long with him in between visits.  He gets so busy working from dawn till dark seven days a week when he was starting and working his own company.  Like he said now there is no money coming in and no work so he can come home now.

JAYNE hope all is going well with things for the Fair.  Will it be the same set up as you did last year?

JOANN, what great snow pictures.  I am surprised that sammy didn't put his nose in the snow and plow with it, that is what my dogs always did.

Good afternoon,

MISS BETTY, all I could hope for is that when and if I get to be your age, I’ll be everything that you are now; this would be more than wonderful. I am worried about MIL because when FIL was among us, MIL was capable of paying their bills, now she has a neighbor (we don’t know who) taking care of her bills for her. Her older son is planning to get power of attorney so that he can take care of everything for her. This should be done before her surgery.

SHARON, I love crepes, toss a few my way. Wink

PEPE, I am thrilled for you, wow, I can’t believe you have not seen your son in six years…enjoy.

PRISSY AND JOANN, I love all those snow photos, just beautiful…dang, my yard would never look like that.

I will try to post again tomorrow, if not I will see you all when I can.

Sharon, Pepe, Betty, and Lolita!

I am glad you are enjoying our snow pictures!  It is a Winter Wonderland in Texas!  Hard to believe! shock   I just heard that most of the school districts will be closed tomorrow;  should have been today, too!  I will have to call my sister who teaches kindergarten and see how it went today and did she have most of her class present.  (The weatherman said it will continue to snow for another 8 to 10 hours!!)

Pepe,
Just enjoy your son's visit.  Be sure and take pictures!  I want to see Mark playing checkers with the big buttons! Laughing  I'm sure Preston won't mind.  Wink
I am cold but Skip is wearing a short sleeved shirt!   I may put on a sweatshirt on top of my long sleeved turtleneck!

Sharon,
We are having weather you would normally be having! shock

 wave

It's COLD!!!!!  cold

I should have taken photos this morning - snow did not stick, but it was so pretty coming down. We are having sleet now, and I'm afraid that ice is forming on the power lines - hope the power does not go off.  Paranoid It is 34 degrees here now - cold for 5 in the afternoon!!!!

Betty - I have been checking the OFC off and on all day - still nothing. I always tape Oprah's show - I did not get to watch yesterday's show until today - The Canadian Tenors were on! I think I will look for their CD.

Jeanne- before I forget - Lewis got his newspaper articles from you today  Purple Banana It may take me a year, but I am going to frame most of the large newspaper articles for him. I'll have the mats cut and do the framing myself - it would cost a fortune otherwise!!!!

AND JEANNE -  The Clay Aiken News Network (I get emails from that site every day) has posted a painting contest being held for Clay's Foundation - whoever wants to can paint a chair to be auctioned off at the Gala next year - I want you to do this!!!!!!

Glory - sounds like the doctor visit went really well! One of the bad things about living in a small place is lack of medical care. I think we may have to give up and drive to get better doctors.

Prissy - and JoAnn - great snow photos!  Clapping Clapping Clapping Clapping

Prissy - I forgot to comment on you giving up and coloring your hair - letting it grow out would be so hard.

Pepe - how wonderful that your son is getting to visit - sorry his wife can't come, too.

Sharon - I can't believe that we are having snow, and they are worrying about not having enough snow for the Olympics!!! This is a weird year. I am looking forward to the Olympics beginning tomorrow. Didn't hear what happened with your merchandise, but glad it was not hurt.

dudley - glad to see you check in! I haven't  heard anything from Amy today - hope they are on the way home from Houston.

lolita - see you tomorroow   Huggles

Lewis is at a meeting - I am ready for him to get home before the streets are iced over. I'm going to go warm up that soup! See you all later.

Frankie they are importing snow like crazy in Vancouver for all the alpine events, and yep they are worried.  Saw on the news that they are trying to keep the media away, speculation has it that the slopes won't be ready blush Jaw drop!

Sorry, hope you can take one more snow photo from me!  I just shot this one of Sammy.  I call it, "Pitiful Boy!"  He was walking towards me and  I told him to "sit!"  He did but the look on this poor baby shows that he is not a happy camper in the snow.

Thanks Sharon.  Doesn't he look pitiful?  It has snowed so much this afternoon, I took more photos.  I'll wait until tomorrow to "spring" them on everyone here.  I also have to go shake the bushes tomorrow.  They are so heavy with snow, they've bent almost to the ground.
Our neighbors two door down, on both sides don't have electricity. We do, so I guess I should stop whining about not having dishnetwork.  I can be warm and read better then cold and no light.

JoAnn - what a sad little boy  Laughing (but he is still cute). I have had to pick Tuffy up and throw him out every time I wanted him to go out today - he would never make it living up north!

Good and bad news from Houston. Laney's ear drum has healed form the surgery, but she still has hearing loss. They are going to give it another two months. If there is still hearing loss, there will be further surgery on the bones inside her ear. At least she just does not hear some tones. She has no problems with her speach, and she makes very good grades in school, so hearing is not a problem there. So we are hoping for the best.

Our front yard is just a sheet of ice. The worst is supposed to come in between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. - just still hoping the power stays on.

I'm going to say an early Good Night - going to get my walking in, then I'm headed for the electric blanket!

Don't be frightened of the colonoscopy. I have been with two friends who

have had  them and they were fine. You go to sleep and when you wake up

I also like reading the stories from everyone telling us about their lives and accomplishments.  It makes me feel good when I read about all the things people do to make others feel better.  It doesn't matter wether it's something big or small.  If it lifts someone up, that is the purpose.
I have just finished reading Clay's book for the first time in a very long time.  It is interesting because he mentions too that "the smallest good deed is better then the grandest intention."  He states that his talent of spreading happiness through song allowed him to lift people up and that is the most important thing to him.
Listening to all the stories of how so many Claymaniacs do to lift others up has inspired me to be more aware of what  I need to do.  Anything you can do to help another person should be done.  Remember that like Clay states, "You may not always get applause for your accomplishment: but any worthwhile validation comes from within.
For all of you that have shared:  I stand up and give you this. Clapping

Sharon,
The above picture is of a little girl in a swing. It is made of metal and is about 20 inches tall.  It hangs in our woods.  I tried to find another picture without snow and that is evidently the only photo I have of the little swinging girl.

Frankie,
A sheet of ice! eek!   We only have snow and it has not frozen yet, but we are expecting that to happen tonight. cold
As long as Lainey is able to do well in school and has no problem with speech, it sounds like she is doing fine.  I know there are certain pitches I cannot hear, but as long as these pitches are really high or really low and not part of normal speech pitches, hopefully she will not have any problems.

I did talk to my youngest sister who teaches kindergarten.  She said that in their district today, classes were let out at 1:30 or students could leave when their parents picked them up.  All of her students were present today except three, and the three absent were her sweetest little girls! Laughing

She did take them outside and took their picture in the snow.  She takes lots of pictures during the school year and will give each student a DVD of pictures of their Kindergarten year.  She used to make a scrapbook for each studnet, but this seems like a good idea!

I did finish marking the bowings to all of the orchestra music, but I still need to make copies for the rest of my section.  I will get a start on that tomorrow.

I hope you all have a restful night.  Sleep
